The driver currently supports two PERST# and PHY DT configurations. In one
case, PHY and PERST# are described in the RC node. In the other case, they
are described in the RP node.
A mixed setup is not supported. One common example is PHY on the RP node
while PERST# remains on the RC node. In that case the driver goes through
the RP parse path, does not find PERST# on RP, and does not report an error
because PERST# is optional. Probe can then succeed silently while PERST# is
left uncontrolled, and PCIe endpoints fail to work later. This silent
probe success makes debugging difficult.
Handle this mixed case in the RP parse path by checking whether PERST# is
present on RC and, if so, using the RC PERST# GPIO for RP ports while
keeping RP parsing for PHY. Emit a warning to indicate mixed DT content so
it can be fixed.
This keeps mixed systems functional and makes the configuration issue
visible instead of failing later at endpoint bring-up.

Qcom PCIe RCs can successfully exit from L1SS during OS runtime. However,
during system suspend, the Qcom PCIe RC driver may remove all resource
votes and turn off the PHY to maximize power savings.
Consequently, when the host is in system suspend with the link in L1SS and
the endpoint asserts CLKREQ#, the RC driver must restore the PHY and enable
the REFCLK. This recovery process causes the L1SS exit latency time to be
exceeded (roughly L10_REFCLK_ON + T_COMMONMODE). If the RC driver were to
retain all votes during suspend, L1SS exit would succeed without issue but
at the expense of higher power consumption.
When the host fails to move the link from L1SS to L0 within the
L10_REFCLK_ON + T_COMMONMODE time, the endpoint may treat it as a fatal
condition and trigger Link Down (LDn) during resume. This LDn results in a
reset that destroys the internal device state.
To ensure that the client drivers can properly handle this scenario, let
them know about this platform limitation by setting the
'pci_host_bridge::broken_l1ss_resume' flag.

Add support for transitioning PCIe endpoints under host bridge into D3cold
by integrating with the DWC core suspend/resume helpers.
Implement PME_Turn_Off message generation via ELBI_SYS_CTRL and hook it
into the DWC host operations so the controller follows the standard
PME_Turn_Off based power-down sequence before entering D3cold.
When the device is suspended into D3cold, fully tear down interconnect
bandwidth and OPP votes. If D3cold is not entered, retain existing
behavior by keeping the required interconnect and OPP votes.
Use dw_pcie::skip_pwrctrl_off to avoid powering off devices during suspend
to preserve wakeup capability of the devices and also not to power on the
devices in the init path.
Finally, drop the qcom_pcie::suspended flag and rely on the existing
dw_pcie::suspended state, which now drives both the power-management flow
and the interconnect/OPP handling.

Previously, the driver skipped putting the link into L2 and device state in
D3cold whenever L1 ASPM was enabled, since some devices (e.g. NVMe) expect
low resume latency and may not tolerate deeper power states. However, such
devices typically remain in D0 and are already covered by the new helper's
requirement that all endpoints be in D3hot before the devices under host
bridge may enter D3cold.
Replace the local L1/L1SS-based check in dw_pcie_suspend_noirq() with the
shared pci_host_common_d3cold_possible() helper to decide whether the
devices under host bridge can safely transition to D3cold.
In addition, propagate PME-from-D3cold capability information from the
helper and record it in skip_pwrctrl_off. Some devices (e.g. M.2 cards
without auxiliary power) cannot send PME when the main power is removed,
even if they advertise PME-from-D3cold support. This allows controller
power-off to be skipped when required to preserve wakeup functionality.
While at it, update the 'dw_pcie::suspended' flag in dw_pcie_resume_noirq()
only after the PCIe link resumes successfully, to avoid marking the
controller as active when link resume fails.

Some Qcom PCIe controller variants bring the PHY out of test power-down
(PHY_TEST_PWR_DOWN) during init. When the link is later transitioned to
D3cold and the driver disables PCIe clocks and/or regulators without
explicitly re-asserting PHY_TEST_PWR_DOWN, the PHY can remain partially
powered, leading to avoidable power leakage.
Update the init-path comments to reflect that PARF_PHY_CTRL is used to
power the PHY on. Also, for controller revisions that enable PHY power in
init (2.3.2, 2.3.3, 2.4.0, 2.7.0 and 2.9.0), explicitly power the PHY down
via PARF_PHY_CTRL in the deinit path before disabling clocks or regulators.
This ensures the PHY is put into a defined low-power state prior to
removing its supplies, preventing leakage when entering D3cold.

Add a common helper, pci_host_common_d3cold_possible(), to determine
whether PCIe devices under host bridge can safely transition to D3cold.
This helper is intended to be used by PCI host controller drivers to decide
whether they can safely put the endpoint devices into D3cold based on their
power state and wakeup capabilities. Once the devices are transitioned into
D3cold, the host controller can be safely powered off.
The helper walks all devices on the all downstream buses and only allows
the devices to enter D3cold if all PCIe endpoints are already in
PCI_D3hot. This ensures that the host controller driver does not broadcast
PME_Turn_Off or power down the controller while any active endpoint still
requires the link to remain powered.
For devices that may wake the system, the helper additionally requires that
the device supports PME wake from D3cold (via WAKE#). Devices that do not
have wakeup enabled are not restricted by this check and do not block the
devices under host bridge from entering D3cold.
Devices without a bound driver and with PCI not enabled via sysfs are
treated as inactive and therefore do not prevent the devices under host
bridge from entering D3cold. This allows controllers to power down more
aggressively when there are no actively managed endpoints.
Some devices (e.g. M.2 without auxiliary power) lose PME detection when
main power is removed. Even if such devices advertise PME-from-D3cold
capability, entering D3cold may break wakeup. Return PME-from-D3cold
capability via 'pme_capable' parameter so PCIe controller drivers can apply
platform-specific handling to preserve wakeup functionality.

Older steppings of the Loongson-3C6000 series incorrectly report the
supported link speeds on their PCIe bridges (device IDs 0x3c19, 0x3c29)
as only 2.5 GT/s, despite the upstream bus supporting speeds from
2.5 GT/s up to 16 GT/s.
As a result, since commit 774c71c52a ("PCI/bwctrl: Enable only if more
than one speed is supported"), bwctrl will be disabled if there's only
one 2.5 GT/s value in vector 'supported_speeds'.
Manually override the 'supported_speeds' field for affected PCIe bridges
with those found on the upstream bus to correctly reflect the supported
link speeds. Updating the speeds to reflect what the hardware actually
supports avoids quirks in drivers consuming the speed information.

The current DT binding for pci-imx6 specifies the 'reset-gpios' property
in the host bridge node. However, the PERST# signal logically belongs to
individual Root Ports rather than the host bridge itself. This becomes
important when supporting PCIe Key E connector and the PCI power control
framework for pci-imx6 driver, which requires properties to be specified
in Root Port nodes.
Parse 'reset-gpios' from Root Port nodes and the PCIe bridge nodes under
the Root Port using the common helper pci_host_common_parse_ports(), and
update the reset GPIO handling to use the parsed port list from
bridge->ports. To maintain DT backwards compatibility, fall back to the
legacy method of parsing the host bridge node if the reset property is not
present in the Root Port nodes.
Since now the reset GPIO is obtained with GPIOD_ASIS flag, it may be in
input mode, so use gpiod_direction_output() instead of
gpiod_set_value_cansleep() to ensure the reset GPIO is properly
configured as output before setting its value.

The PCIe endpoint may start responding or driving signals as soon as its
supply is enabled, even before the reference clock is stable. Asserting
PERST# before enabling the regulator ensures that the endpoint remains in
reset throughout the entire power-up sequence, until both power and refclk
are known to be stable and link initialization can safely begin.
Currently, the driver enables the vpcie3v3aux regulator in imx_pcie_probe()
before PERST# is asserted in imx_pcie_host_init(), which may cause PCIe
endpoint undefined behavior during early power-up. However, there is no
issue so far because PERST# is requested as GPIOD_OUT_HIGH in
imx_pcie_probe(), which guarantees that PERST# is asserted before enabling
the vpcie3v3aux regulator.
This prepares for an upcoming changes that will parse the reset property
using the new Root Port binding, which will use GPIOD_ASIS when requesting
the reset GPIO. With GPIOD_ASIS, the GPIO state is not guaranteed, so
explicit sequencing is required.
Fix the power sequencing by:
1. Moving vpcie3v3aux regulator enable from probe to
imx_pcie_host_init(), where it can be properly sequenced with PERST#.
2. Moving imx_pcie_assert_perst() before regulator and clock enable to
ensure correct ordering.

During resume, qcom_pcie_icc_opp_update() may access DBI registers before
the OPP votes are restored, triggering NoC errors.
Set the PCIe controller to the maximum OPP first in resume_noirq(), then
proceed with link/DBI accesses. The OPP is later updated again based on
the actual link bandwidth requirements.
Introduce a helper to reuse the max-OPP setup code and share it with
probe().

The ECRC (TLP digest) workaround was originally applied only for DesignWare
core version 4.90a. Per discussion in Synopsys case, the dependency of the
iATU TD bit on ECRC generation was removed in 5.10a, so apply the
workaround for all DWC versions below that release.
Replace the misleading comment that referred to raw version constants

The ATU base address was set in intel_pcie_host_setup(), which is called
via pp->ops->init(). However, dw_pcie_get_resources() runs before this
callback and sets a default atu_base of 0x300000, which then gets
overwritten by the driver's value of 0xC0000.
But this ordering is broken because atu_base must be set before
dw_pcie_get_resources() runs, not after. So move the atu_base assignment
from intel_pcie_host_setup() to intel_pcie_probe() to fix the
initialization order.
The call stack is:
intel_pcie_probe
dw_pcie_host_init
dw_pcie_host_get_resources
dw_pcie_get_resources <- sets atu_base = 0x300000
pp->ops->init
intel_pcie_rc_init
intel_pcie_host_setup <- was overwriting atu_base here
Additionally, add support for parsing the ATU region from the device tree.
If an 'atu' region is present in DT, the DWC core parses it via
dw_pcie_get_resources() and the driver does not set atu_base explicitly.
If 'atu' is absent, the driver falls back to the hardcoded offset (0xC0000
from DBI base) for backwards compatibility, with a warning to the user.

To improve the readability of the code, move the interrupt enable
instructions to a separate function. That is already done for the disable
interrupt instruction.
In addition, clear and disable all pending interrupts, as is done in
intel_pcie_core_irq_disable(). After that, enable all relevant interrupts
again. The 'PCIE_APP_IRNEN' definition contains all the relevant interrupts
that are of interest.
This change is also done in the MaxLinear SDK [1]. As I unfortunately don’t
have any documentation for this IP core, I suspect that the intention is to
set the IP core for interrupt handling to a specific state. Perhaps the
problem is that the IP core did not reinitialize the interrupt register
properly after a power cycle.
In my view, it can’t do any harm to switch the interrupt off and then on
again to set them to a specific state.
The reason why the MaxLinear SDK is used as a reference here is, that this
PCIe DWC IP is used in the URX851 and URX850 SoC. This SoC was originally
developed by Intel when they acquired Lantiq’s home networking division in
2015 [2]. In 2020 the home network division was sold to MaxLinear [3].
Since then, this SoC belongs to MaxLinear. They use their own SDK, which
runs on kernel version '5.15.x'.

Some DesignWare PCIe controllers integrate an eDMA block whose registers
are located in a dedicated register window.
The EP-side aux-resource code exposes an interrupt-emulation doorbell
register (DOORBELL_MMIO) from that window. Its location is derived from
the start of the eDMA register window plus the doorbell offset already
provided by dw-edma, and the window size is used to validate the
computed register location.
Record the physical base and size of the integrated eDMA register window
in struct dw_pcie so the EP-side DesignWare aux-resource provider can
construct that doorbell resource.

With commit f84b21da36 ("PCI: hv: Don't load the driver for baremetal root partition"),
the bare metal Linux root partition won't use the pci-hyperv driver, but
when a Linux VM runs on the Linux root partition, pci-hyperv's module_init
function init_hv_pci_drv() can still run, e.g. in the case of
CONFIG_PCI_HYPERV=y, even if the VMBus driver is not used in such a VM
(i.e. the hv_vmbus driver's init function returns -ENODEV due to
vmbus_root_device being NULL).
In such a Linux VM, init_hv_pci_drv() runs with a side effect: the 3
hvpci_block_ops callbacks are set to functions that depend on hv_vmbus.
Later, when the MLX driver in such a VM invokes the callbacks, e.g. in
drivers/net/ethernet/mellanox/mlx5/core/lib/hv.c:
mlx5_hv_register_invalidate(), hvpci_block_ops.reg_blk_invalidate() is
hv_register_block_invalidate() rather than a NULL function pointer, and
hv_register_block_invalidate() assumes that it can find a struct
hv_pcibus_device from pdev->bus->sysdata, which is false in such a VM.
Consequently, hv_register_block_invalidate() -> get_pcichild_wslot() ->
spin_lock_irqsave() may hang since it can be accessing an invalid
spinlock pointer.
Fix the issue by exporting hv_vmbus_exists() and using it in pci-hyperv:
hv_root_partition() is true and hv_nested is false ==>
hv_vmbus_exists() is false.
hv_root_partition() is true and hv_nested is true ==>
hv_vmbus_exists() is true.
hv_root_partition() is false ==> hv_vmbus_exists() is true.
While at it, rename vmbus_exists() to hv_vmbus_exists() to follow the
convention that all public functions have the hv_ prefix; also change
the return value's type from int to bool to make the code more readable;
also move the two pr_info() calls.

Pull ACPI support updates from Rafael Wysocki:
"These include an update of the CMOS RTC driver and the related ACPI
and x86 code that, among other things, switches it over to using the
platform device interface for device binding on x86 instead of the PNP
device driver interface (which allows the code in question to be
simplified quite a bit), a major update of the ACPI Time and Alarm
Device (TAD) driver adding an RTC class device interface to it, and
updates of core ACPI drivers that remove some unnecessary and not
really useful code from them.
Apart from that, two drivers are converted to using the platform
driver interface for device binding instead of the ACPI driver one,
which is slated for removal, support for the Performance Limited
register is added to the ACPI CPPC library and there are some
janitorial updates of it and the related cpufreq CPPC driver, the ACPI
processor driver is fixed and cleaned up, and NVIDIA vendor CPER
record handler is added to the APEI GHES code.
Also, the interface for obtaining a CPU UID from ACPI is consolidated
across architectures and used for fixing a problem with the PCI TPH
Steering Tag on ARM64, there are two updates related to ACPICA, a
minor ACPI OS Services Layer (OSL) update, and a few assorted updates
related to ACPI tables parsing.

The Tegra PCIe Endpoint controller has a single interrupt line that is
shared between multiple interrupt sources:
1. PCIe link state events (link up, hot reset done)
2. Configuration space events (Bus Master Enable changes)
3. DMA completion events
The interrupt is currently registered with IRQF_ONESHOT, which keeps the
interrupt line masked until the threaded handler completes. That blocks
processing of DMA completion events (and other sources) while the
threaded handler runs.
Removing IRQF_ONESHOT is safe for the following reasons:
1. The hard IRQ handler (tegra_pcie_ep_hard_irq) properly acknowledges and
clears all interrupt status bits in hardware before returning. This
prevents interrupt storms and ensures the interrupt controller can
re-enable the interrupt line immediately.
2. The follow-up commit adds handling in the hard IRQ for DMA completion
events. Dropping IRQF_ONESHOT is required so the line is unmasked
after the hard IRQ returns and those events can be serviced without
being blocked by the threaded handler.
3. The threaded handler (tegra_pcie_ep_irq_thread) only processes link-up
notifications and LTR message sending. These operations don't conflict
with DMA interrupt processing and don't require the interrupt line to
remain masked.
This change enables both DMA driver and Endpoint controller driver to share
the interrupt line without blocking each other.

The Root Port's CLKREQ# signal is shared with a downstream PCIe switch and
the endpoints behind it. By default, APPL_PINMUX_CLKREQ_OVERRIDE only
overrides the CLKREQ# input to the controller (so REFCLK is enabled
internally); it does not drive the CLKREQ# output pin low. Some PCIe
switches (e.g. Broadcom PCIe Gen4) forward the Root Port's CLKREQ# to their
downstream side and expect it to be driven low for REFCLK, even when the
switch does not support CLK-PM or ASPM-L1SS. Without driving the output
pin low, link-up can fail between the switch and endpoints.
Clear APPL_PINMUX_CLKREQ_DEFAULT_VALUE so the CLKREQ# output pad is
explicitly driven low. That makes the shared CLKREQ# line low on the wire
and avoids link-up issues with such switches.

When PERST# is deasserted twice (assert -> deassert -> assert -> deassert),
a CBB (Control Backbone) timeout occurs at DBI register offset 0x8bc
(PCIE_MISC_CONTROL_1_OFF). This happens because pci_epc_deinit_notify()
and dw_pcie_ep_cleanup() are called before reset_control_deassert() powers
on the controller core.
The call chain that causes the timeout:
pex_ep_event_pex_rst_deassert()
pci_epc_deinit_notify()
pci_epf_test_epc_deinit()
pci_epf_test_clear_bar()
pci_epc_clear_bar()
dw_pcie_ep_clear_bar()
__dw_pcie_ep_reset_bar()
dw_pcie_dbi_ro_wr_en() <- Accesses 0x8bc DBI register
reset_control_deassert(pcie->core_rst) <- Core powered on HERE
The DBI registers, including PCIE_MISC_CONTROL_1_OFF (0x8bc), are only
accessible after the controller core is powered on via
reset_control_deassert(pcie->core_rst). Accessing them before this point
results in a CBB timeout because the hardware is not yet operational.
Fix this by moving pci_epc_deinit_notify() and dw_pcie_ep_cleanup() to
after reset_control_deassert(pcie->core_rst), ensuring the controller is
fully powered on before any DBI register accesses occur.

to D0 before taking the link to L2 cited PCIe r4.0, sec 5.2, "Link State

Port should wait for 1-10 msec for PME_TO_Ack message. Currently, driver is
polling for 10 msec with 1 usec delay which is aggressive. Use existing
macro PCIE_PME_TO_L2_TIMEOUT_US to poll for 10 msec with 1 msec delay.
Since this function is used in non-atomic context only, use non-atomic poll

The commit 18ac51ae9d ("PCI: cadence: Implement capability search
using PCI core APIs") assumed all the platforms using Cadence PCIe
controller support byte and word register accesses. This is not true
for all platforms (e.g., TI J721E SoC, which only supports dword
register accesses).
This causes capability searches via cdns_pcie_find_capability() to fail
on such platforms.
Fix this by using cdns_pcie_read_sz() for config read functions, which
properly handles size-aligned accesses. Remove the now-unused byte and
word read wrapper functions (cdns_pcie_readw and cdns_pcie_readb).

Even though the Root Port MSIs won't be received by the iMSI-RX controller

support hotplug command completion. As a result, the hotplug commands

Commit a54db86ddc ("PCI: qcom: Do not advertise hotplug capability for

When hv_pci_assign_numa_node() processes a device that does not have
HV_PCI_DEVICE_FLAG_NUMA_AFFINITY set or has an out-of-range
virtual_numa_node, the device NUMA node is left unset. On x86_64,
the uninitialized default happens to be 0, but on ARM64 it is
NUMA_NO_NODE (-1).
Tests show that when no NUMA information is available from the Hyper-V
host, devices perform best when assigned to node 0. With NUMA_NO_NODE
the kernel may spread work across NUMA nodes, which degrades
performance on Hyper-V, particularly for high-throughput devices like
MANA.
Always set the device NUMA node to 0 before the conditional NUMA
affinity check, so that devices get a performant default when the host
provides no NUMA information, and behavior is consistent on both
x86_64 and ARM64.

The current EPC core design relies on an EPC driver disabling all BARs by
default. An EPF driver will then enable the BARs that it wants to enabled.
This design is there because there is no epc->ops->disable_bar().
(There is a epc->ops->clear_bar(), but that is only to disable a BAR that
has been enabled using epc->ops->set_bar() first.)
By default, an EPF driver will not be able to get/enable BARs that are
marked as BAR_RESERVED or BAR_DISABLED (see pci_epc_get_next_free_bar()).
Since the current EPC code design requires an EPC driver to disable all
BARs by default, move this to DWC common code from each glue driver.
BAR_RESERVED BARs are not disabled by default because these BARs are
hardware backed, and should only be disabled explicitly by an EPF driver
if absolutely necessary for the EPF driver to function correctly.
(This is similar to how e.g. NVMe may have vendor specific BARs outside of
the mandatory BAR0 which contains the NVMe registers.)
Note that there is currently no EPC operation to disable a BAR that has not
first been programmed using pci_epc_set_bar(). If an EPF driver ever wants
to disable a BAR marked as BAR_RESERVED, a disable_bar() operation would
have to be added first.

Most DWC based EPC glue drivers that have BARs marked as BAR_RESERVED in
epc_features also call dw_pcie_ep_reset_bar() for these reserved BARs in
ep->ops->init(). (The only exception is pci-keystone.c.)
An EPF driver will be able to get/enable BARs that have been disabled/reset
using dw_pcie_ep_reset_bar(), except if the BAR is marked as BAR_RESERVED
(see pci_epc_get_next_free_bar()).
Thus, all EPC drivers that have BARs marked as BAR_RESERVED in epc_features
and call dw_pcie_ep_reset_bar(), should really have these BARs marked as
BAR_DISABLED. If dw_pcie_ep_reset_bar() is not called by the glue driver,
the BARs are kept as BAR_RESERVED.

BAR_RESERVED, so there is nothing to do in non-DWC based EPC drivers.

A BAR that can only be configured as a 64-bit BAR by an EPC driver is
marked as such using the "only_64bit" flag.
Currently, the documentation says that an EPC driver should explicitly
mark the BAR succeeding an "only_64bit" BAR as BAR_RESERVED.
However, a 64-bit BAR will always take up two BARs. It is thus redundant
to mark both BARs.
pci_epc_get_next_free_bar() already skips the BAR succeeding a "only_64bit"
BAR, regardless if the succeeding BAR is marked as BAR_RESERVED or not.
Thus, drop the BAR_RESERVED for a BAR succeeding a "only_64bit" BAR.

to handle SoC-specific configuration methods. While RZ/G3S uses the Linux

As Linux reset bulk API gracefully handles optional NULL reset lines

This provides a balanced pattern where:

The existing inbound window configuration algorithm has two issues that
prevent proper operation on RZ/G3E:
1. Over-mapping: Using roundup_pow_of_two() on the remaining region size
can result in windows that extend beyond the intended memory region.
2. Alignment violation: Addresses are only aligned to 4K regardless of
the actual window size. According to the RZ/G3S HW manual (Rev.1.10,
section 34.6.6.7) and RZ/G3E HW manual (Rev.1.15, section 6.6.7.6),
bit carry must not occur when adding AXI Window Base and AXI Window
Mask registers. This effectively requires the base address to be
aligned to the window size.
RZ/G3E strictly enforces these constraints and requires precise window
boundaries with properly aligned addresses.
Rework the algorithm to properly handle arbitrary region sizes and
alignment constraints by splitting non-power-of-2 regions into multiple
windows. The new approach iteratively selects the largest power-of-2
size that:
- Fits within the remaining region (__fls of remaining size)
- Does not exceed the natural alignment of the CPU address (__ffs)
- Does not exceed the natural alignment of the PCI address (__ffs)
This ensures windows never over-map beyond the intended region and
satisfies the hardware requirement that base address + mask must not
cause bit carry, while maintaining the 4K * 2^N byte window size
constraint.
The reworked algorithm is required for RZ/G3E support and remains
fully compatible with RZ/G3S.

Reorder the reset assertion sequence during suspend from
power_resets -> cfg_resets to cfg_resets -> power_resets.
This change ensures the suspend sequence follows the reverse order
of the probe/init sequence, where power_resets are deasserted first
followed by cfg_resets.
Additionally, this ordering is required for RZ/G3E support where
cfg resets are controlled through PCIe AXI registers (offset 0x310h).
According to the RZ/G3E hardware manual (Rev.1.15, section 6.6.6.1.1
"Changing the Initial Values of the Registers"), AXI register access
requires ARESETn to be de-asserted and the clock to be supplied.
Since ARESETn is part of power_resets, cfg_resets must be asserted
before power_resets, otherwise the AXI registers become inaccessible.

The layerscape pcie host controller could also be compiled as module.
Add the necessary infrastructure to allow building as module instead of
only as builtin driver.
Since the driver doesn't expose an irqchip controller, it is also safe to

Endpoint drivers use dw_pcie_ep_raise_msix_irq() to raise an MSI-X
interrupt to the host using a writel(), which generates a PCI posted write
transaction. There's no completion for posted writes, so the writel() may
return before the PCI write completes. dw_pcie_ep_raise_msix_irq() also
unmaps the outbound ATU entry used for the PCI write, so the write races
with the unmap.
If the PCI write loses the race with the ATU unmap, the write may corrupt
host memory or cause IOMMU errors, e.g., these when running fio with a
larger queue depth against nvmet-pci-epf:
arm-smmu-v3 fc900000.iommu: 0x0000010000000010
arm-smmu-v3 fc900000.iommu: 0x0000020000000000

arm-smmu-v3 fc900000.iommu: unpriv data write s1 "Input address caused fault" stag: 0x0
Flush the write by performing a readl() of the same address to ensure that
the write has reached the destination before the ATU entry is unmapped.
The same problem was solved for dw_pcie_ep_raise_msi_irq() in commit
8719c64e76 ("PCI: dwc: ep: Cache MSI outbound iATU mapping"), but there
it was solved by dedicating an outbound iATU only for MSI. We can't do the
same for MSI-X because each vector can have a different msg_addr and the
msg_addr may be changed while the vector is masked.

Endpoint drivers use dw_pcie_ep_raise_msi_irq() to raise MSI interrupts to
the host. After 8719c64e76 ("PCI: dwc: ep: Cache MSI outbound iATU
mapping"), dw_pcie_ep_raise_msi_irq() caches the Message Address from the
MSI Capability in ep->msi_msg_addr. But that Message Address is controlled
by the host, and it may change. For example, if:
- firmware on the host configures the Message Address and triggers an
MSI,
- a driver on the Endpoint raises the MSI via dw_pcie_ep_raise_msi_irq(),
which caches the Message Address,
- a kernel on the host reconfigures the Message Address and the host
kernel driver triggers another MSI,
dw_pcie_ep_raise_msi_irq() notices that the Message Address no longer
matches the cached ep->msi_msg_addr, warns about it, and returns error
instead of raising the MSI. The host kernel may hang because it never
receives the MSI.
This was seen with the nvmet_pci_epf_driver: the host UEFI performs NVMe
commands, e.g. Identify Controller to get the name of the controller,
nvmet-pci-epf posts the completion queue entry and raises an IRQ using
dw_pcie_ep_raise_msi_irq(). When the host boots Linux, we see a
WARN_ON_ONCE() from dw_pcie_ep_raise_msi_irq(), and the host kernel hangs
because the nvme driver never gets an IRQ.
Remove the warning when dw_pcie_ep_raise_msi_irq() notices that Message
Address has changed, remap using the new address, and update the
ep->msi_msg_addr cache.

This was done entirely with mindless brute force, using
git grep -l '\<k[vmz]*alloc_objs*(.*, GFP_KERNEL)' |
xargs sed -i 's/\(alloc_objs*(.*\), GFP_KERNEL)/\1)/'
to convert the new alloc_obj() users that had a simple GFP_KERNEL
argument to just drop that argument.
Note that due to the extreme simplicity of the scripting, any slightly
more complex cases spread over multiple lines would not be triggered:
they definitely exist, but this covers the vast bulk of the cases, and
the resulting diff is also then easier to check automatically.
For the same reason the 'flex' versions will be done as a separate
conversion.

This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from
scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. The script is designed to
avoid scalar types (which need careful case-by-case checking), and
instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union
object instances:
Single allocations: kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with: kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...)
Array allocations: kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with: kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...)
Flex array allocations: kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...)
are replaced with: kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...)
(where TYPE may also be *VAR)
The resulting allocations no longer return "void *", instead returning
"TYPE *".

dw_pcie_ep_set_bar() currently tears down existing inbound mappings only
when either the previous or the new struct pci_epf_bar uses submaps
(num_submap != 0). If both the old and new mappings are BAR Match Mode,
reprogramming the same ATU index is sufficient, so no explicit teardown
was needed.
However, some callers may reuse the same struct pci_epf_bar instance and
update it in place before calling set_bar() again. In that case
ep_func->epf_bar[bar] and the passed-in epf_bar can point to the same
object, so we cannot reliably distinguish BAR Match Mode -> BAR Match Mode
from Address Match Mode -> BAR Match Mode. As a result, the conditional
teardown based on num_submap becomes unreliable and existing inbound maps
may be left active.
Call dw_pcie_ep_clear_ib_maps() unconditionally before reprogramming the
BAR so that in-place updates are handled correctly.
This introduces a behavioral change in a corner case: if a BAR
reprogramming attempt fails (especially for the long-standing BAR Match
Mode -> BAR Match Mode update case), the previously programmed inbound
mapping will already have been torn down. This should be acceptable, since
the caller observes the error and should not use the BAR for any real
transactions in that case.
While at it, document that the existing update parameter check is
best-effort for in-place updates.

dw_pcie_ep_clear_ib_maps() first checks whether the inbound mapping for a
BAR is in BAR Match Mode (tracked via ep_func->bar_to_atu[bar]). Once
found, the iATU region is disabled and the bookkeeping is cleared.
BAR Match Mode and Address Match Mode mappings are mutually exclusive for a
given BAR, so there is nothing left for the Address Match Mode teardown
path to do after the BAR Match Mode mapping has been removed.
Return early after clearing the BAR Match Mode mapping to avoid running the
Address Match Mode teardown path. This makes the helper's intention
explicit and helps detect incorrect use of pci_epc_set_bar().

- Add interrupt redirection infrastructure
Some PCI controllers use a single demultiplexing interrupt for the MSI
interrupts of subordinate devices.
This prevents setting the interrupt affinity of device interrupts, which
causes device interrupts to be delivered to a single CPU. That obviously is
counterproductive for multi-queue devices and interrupt balancing.
To work around this limitation the new infrastructure installs a dummy
irq_set_affinity() callback which captures the affinity mask and picks a
redirection target CPU out of the mask.
When the PCI controller demultiplexes the interrupts it invokes a new
handling function in the core, which either runs the interrupt handler in
the context of the target CPU or delegates it to irq_work on the target CPU.
- Utilize the interrupt redirection mechanism in the PCI DWC host controller
driver.
This allows affinity control for the subordinate device MSI interrupts
instead of being randomly executed on the CPU which runs the demultiplex
handler.
- Replace the binary 64-bit MSI flag with a DMA mask
Some PCI devices have PCI_MSI_FLAGS_64BIT in the MSI capability, but
implement less than 64 address bits. This breaks on platforms where such a
device is assigned an MSI address higher than what's supported.
With the binary 64-bit flag there is no other choice than disabling 64-bit
MSI support which leaves the device disfunctional.
By using a DMA mask the address limit of a device can be described
correctly which provides support for the above scenario.
- Make use of the DMA mask based address limit in the hda/intel and radeon
drivers to enable them on affected platforms.
- The usual small cleanups and improvements

Some PCI controllers use a single demultiplexing interrupt for the
MSI interrupts of subordinate devices.
This prevents setting the interrupt affinity of device interrupts,
which causes device interrupts to be delivered to a single CPU.
That obviously is counterproductive for multi-queue devices and
interrupt balancing.
To work around this limitation the new infrastructure installs a
dummy irq_set_affinity() callback which captures the affinity mask
and picks a redirection target CPU out of the mask.
When the PCI controller demultiplexes the interrupts it invokes a
new handling function in the core, which either runs the interrupt
handler in the context of the target CPU or delegates it to
irq_work on the target CPU.
- Utilize the interrupt redirection mechanism in the PCI DWC host
controller driver.
This allows affinity control for the subordinate device MSI
interrupts instead of being randomly executed on the CPU which runs
the demultiplex handler.
- Replace the binary 64-bit MSI flag with a DMA mask
Some PCI devices have PCI_MSI_FLAGS_64BIT in the MSI capability,
but implement less than 64 address bits. This breaks on platforms
where such a device is assigned an MSI address higher than what's
supported.
With the binary 64-bit flag there is no other choice than disabling
64-bit MSI support which leaves the device disfunctional.
By using a DMA mask the address limit of a device can be described
correctly which provides support for the above scenario.
- Make use of the DMA mask based address limit in the hda/intel and
radeon drivers to enable them on affected platforms
- The usual small cleanups and improvements"

When ECAM is enabled, the driver skipped calling dw_pcie_iatu_setup()
before configuring ECAM iATU entries. This left IO and MEM outbound
windows unprogrammed, resulting in broken IO transactions. Additionally,
dw_pcie_config_ecam_iatu() was only called during host initialization,
so ECAM-related iATU entries were not restored after suspend/resume,
leading to failures in configuration space access
To resolve these issues, move the ECAM iATU configuration to
dw_pcie_iatu_setup(), and invoke dw_pcie_iatu_setup() when ECAM is
enabled.
Furthermore, add error checks in dw_pcie_prog_outbound_atu() and
dw_pcie_prog_inbound_atu() such that an error is returned if the caller is
trying to program an iATU that is outside the number of iATUs supported by
the controller.

The current iATU index usage in dw_pcie_iatu_setup() is a mess.
For outbound address translation the index is incremented before usage.
For inbound address translation the index is incremented after usage.
Incrementing the index after usage make much more sense, and make the
index usage consistent for both outbound and inbound address translation.
Most likely, the overly complicated logic for the outbound address
translation is because the iATU at index 0 is reserved for CFG IOs
(dw_pcie_other_conf_map_bus()), however, we should be able to use the
exact same logic for the indexing of the outbound and inbound iATUs.
(Only the starting index should be different.)
Create two new variables ob_iatu_index and ib_iatu_index, which makes
it more clear from the name itself that it is a zeroes based index,
and only increment the index if the iATU configuration call succeeded.
Since we always check if there is an index available immediately before
programming the iATU, we can remove the useless "ranges exceed outbound
iATU size" warnings, as the code is already unreachable. For the same
reason, we can also remove the useless breaks outside of the while loops.

When dw_pcie_iatu_setup() configures outbound address translation for both
type PCIE_ATU_TYPE_MEM and PCIE_ATU_TYPE_IO, the iATU index to use is
incremented before calling dw_pcie_prog_outbound_atu().
However for msg_atu_index, the index is not incremented before use,
causing the iATU index to be the same as the last configured iATU index,
which means that it will incorrectly use the same iATU index that is
already in use, breaking outbound address translation.
In total there are three problems with this code:
-It assigns msg_atu_index the same index that was used for the last
outbound address translation window, rather than incrementing the index
before assignment.
-The index should only be incremented (and msg_atu_index assigned) if the
use_atu_msg feature is actually requested/in use (pp->use_atu_msg is set).
-If the use_atu_msg feature is requested/in use, and there are no outbound
iATUs available, the code should return an error, as otherwise when this
this feature is used, it will use an iATU index that is out of bounds.

The commit 24ede430fa ("PCI: designware-ep: Add multiple PFs support
for DWC") added support for multiple PFs in the DWC driver, but the
implementation was incomplete. It did not properly support MSI/MSI-X,
as well as BAR and inbound ATU mapping for multiple PFs. The MSI/MSI-X
issue was later fixed by commit 47a062609a ("PCI: designware-ep:
Modify MSI and MSIX CAP way of finding") by introducing a per-PF
struct dw_pcie_ep_func.
However, even with both commits, the multiple PF support in the driver
remains broken because BAR configuration and ATU mappings are managed
globally in struct dw_pcie_ep, meaning all PFs share the same BAR-to-ATU
mapping table. This causes one PF's EPF to overwrite the address
translation of another PF's EPF in the internal ATU region,
creating conflicts when multiple physical functions attempt to
configure their BARs independently.
The commit cfbc98dbf44d ("PCI: dwc: ep: Support BAR subrange inbound
mapping via Address Match Mode iATU") later introduced Address Match
Mode support, which suffers from the same multi-PF conflict issue.
Fix this by moving the required members from struct dw_pcie_ep to
struct dw_pcie_ep_func, similar to what commit 47a062609a
("PCI: designware-ep: Modify MSI and MSIX CAP way of finding") did for
MSI/MSI-X capability support, to allow proper multi-function endpoint
operation, where each PF can configure its BARs and corresponding
internal ATU region without interfering with other PFs.

The resizable BAR support added by the commit 3a3d4cabe6 ("PCI: dwc: ep:
Allow EPF drivers to configure the size of Resizable BARs") incorrectly
configures the resizable BARs only for the first Physical Function (PF0)
in EP mode.
The resizable BAR configuration functions use generic dw_pcie_*_dbi()
operations instead of physical function specific dw_pcie_ep_*_dbi()
operations. This causes resizable BAR configuration to always target
PF0 regardless of the requested function number.
Additionally, dw_pcie_ep_init_non_sticky_registers() only initializes
resizable BAR registers for PF0, leaving other PFs unconfigured during
the execution of this function.
Fix this by using physical function specific configuration space access
operations throughout the resizable BAR code path and initializing
registers for all the physical functions that support resizable BARs.

Extend dw_pcie_ep_set_bar() to support inbound mappings for BAR
subranges using Address Match Mode IB iATU when pci_epf_bar.num_submap
is non-zero.
Rename the existing BAR-match helper into dw_pcie_ep_ib_atu_bar() and
introduce dw_pcie_ep_ib_atu_addr() for Address Match Mode. When
num_submap is non-zero, read the assigned BAR base address and program
one inbound iATU window per subrange. Validate the submap array before
programming:
- each subrange is aligned to pci->region_align
- subranges cover the whole BAR (no gaps and no overlaps)
Track Address Match Mode mappings and tear them down on clear_bar() and
on set_bar() error paths to avoid leaving half-programmed state or
untranslated BAR holes.
Advertise this capability by extending the common feature bit
initializer macro (DWC_EPC_COMMON_FEATURES).
This enables multiple inbound windows within a single BAR, which is
useful on platforms where usable BARs are scarce but EPFs need multiple

feature bit, set it for DWC-based EP glue drivers using a common
initializer macro to avoid duplicating the same flag in each driver.
Note that pci-layerscape-ep.c is untouched. It currently constructs the
feature struct dynamically in ls_pcie_ep_init(). Once converted to a
static feature definition, it will use DWC_EPC_COMMON_FEATURES as well.

The current "has_msi_ctrl" flag name is misleading because it suggests the
presence of any MSI controller, while it is specifically set for platforms
that lack .msi_init() callback and don't have "msi-parent" or "msi-map"
device tree properties, indicating they rely on the iMSI-RX module for MSI
functionality.
Rename it to "use_imsi_rx" to make the intent clear:
- When true: Platform uses the iMSI-RX module for MSI handling
- When false: Platform has other MSI controller support (ITS/MBI, external
MSI controller)
No functional changes, only improves code readability and eliminates
naming confusion.

The DWC driver tries to use a single iATU region for mapping the individual
entries of the bridge window and DMA range. If a bridge window/DMA range is
larger than the iATU inbound/outbound window size, then the mapping will
fail.
Hence, avoid this failure by using multiple iATU windows to map the whole
region. If the region runs out of iATU windows, then return failure.

Remove dw_pcie_ep_hide_ext_capability() and replace its usage with
dw_pcie_remove_ext_capability(). Both functions serve the same purpose
of hiding PCIe extended capabilities, but dw_pcie_remove_ext_capability()
provides a cleaner API that doesn't require the caller to specify the
previous capability ID.

In NXP i.MX6QP and i.MX7D SoCs, LTSSM registers are not accessible once
PME_Turn_Off message is broadcasted to the link. So there is no way to
verify whether the link has entered L2/L3 Ready state or not.
Hence, add a new flag 'dw_pcie_rp::skip_l23_ready' and set it to 'true' for
the above mentioned SoCs. This flag when set, will allow the DWC core to
skip polling for L2/L3 Ready state and just wait for 10ms as recommended in
the PCIe spec r6.0, sec 5.3.3.2.1.

The dw_pcie_wait_for_link() API now distinguishes link failures more
precisely:
-ENODEV: Device not found on the bus.
-EIO: Device found but inactive.
-ETIMEDOUT: Link failed to come up.
Out of these three errors, only -ETIMEDOUT represents a definitive link
failure since it signals that something is wrong with the link. For the
other two errors, there is a possibility that the link might come up later.
So fail dw_pcie_host_init() if -ETIMEDOUT is returned and skip the failure
otherwise.

For the cases where the link cannot come up later i.e., when LTSSM is not
in Detect.{Quiet/Active} or Poll.{Active/Compliance} states,
dw_pcie_wait_for_link() should log an error.
So promote dev_info() to dev_err(), reword the error log to make it clear
and also print the LTSSM state to aid debugging.

There are cases where the PCIe device would be physically connected to the
bus, but the device firmware might not be active. So the LTSSM will
get stuck in POLL.{Active/Compliance} states.
This behavior is common with endpoint devices controlled by the PCI
Endpoint framework, where the device will wait for the user to start its
operation through configfs.
For those cases, print the relevant log and return -EIO to indicate that
the device is present, but not active. This will allow the callers to skip
the failure as the device might become active in the future.

The dw_pcie_wait_for_link() function waits up to 1 second for the PCIe link
to come up and returns -ETIMEDOUT for all failures without distinguishing
cases where no device is present on the bus. But the callers may want to
just skip the failure if the device is not found on the bus and handle
failure for other reasons.
So after timeout, if the LTSSM is in Detect.Quiet or Detect.Active state,
return -ENODEV to indicate the callers that the device is not found on the
bus and return -ETIMEDOUT otherwise.
Also add kernel doc to document the parameter and return values.

CLKREQ# is an optional reference clock request signal defined by the PCIe
CEM and M.2 specifications to request REFCLK and exit the L1 Substates. The
imx6 controller driver so far forced the CLKREQ# signal to low by enabling
the CLKREQ# override logic as the slots do not expose this signal.
Now, there are board designs coming up exposing this signal to the endpoint
devices. This is identified using the 'supports-clkreq' DT property in the
controller node.
So when the DT node has this property, clear the CLKREQ# override after
link up in host_post_init() callback to allow the endpoint to drive the
CLKREQ# signal.

The CLKREQ# is an open drain, active low signal that is driven low by
the card to request reference clock. It's an optional signal added in
PCIe CEM r4.0, sec 2. Thus, this signal wouldn't be driven low if it's
not exposed on the slot.
On the i.MX95 EVK board, REFCLK to the host and endpoint is gated by this
CLKREQ# signal. So if the CLKREQ# signal is not driven by the endpoint, it
will gate the REFCLK to host too, leading to operational failure.
Hence, enable the REFCLK on this SoC by enabling the CLKREQ# override using
imx95_pcie_clkreq_override() helper during probe. This override should only
be cleared when the CLKREQ# signal is exposed on the slot.
