Instead of defining the wait values for each driver, use common values
defined in the core pci.h header file. Note that while most drivers use
the usleep_range(), it looks like these were mostly cargo culted and
msleep() is a better choice given the fixed delay that the specification
calls for. Convert all drivers to msleep() and use the existing
definition.

Only in a bare metal OS environment, the _OSC control flags like Hotplug,
PME, AER, etc. reflect the physical root bridge capabilities. But in a VM
environment, these flags reflect the hypervisor policy and in most cases,
the hypervisor disables all of these control flags to the guest.
So copying these flags would needlessly disable these features in the VMD
owned Root Ports. Hence, copy the flags only when VMD is running in a bare
metal OS environment.

commit 610fa91d98 ("PCI: imx6: Assert PERST# before enabling regulators")
introduced a boot hang on i.MX6Q/DL variants by reordering
imx_pcie_host_init() to call imx6q_pcie_enable_ref_clk() (which powered up
the PHY) before imx6q_pcie_core_reset() (which powered it back down).
Before 610fa91d98, the sequence was:
1. imx_pcie_assert_core_reset() - power down PHY (set TEST_PD), set
REF_CLK_EN
2. imx_pcie_clk_enable() - power up PHY (clear TEST_PD), set REF_CLK_EN
3. Link training starts with PHY powered up (TEST_PD cleared)
4. Link training succeeds
After 610fa91d98, the sequence became:
1. imx_pcie_clk_enable() - power up PHY (clear TEST_PD), set REF_CLK_EN
2. imx_pcie_assert_core_reset() - power down PHY (set TEST_PD), set
REF_CLK_EN
3. imx_pcie_deassert_core_reset() - does nothing
4. Link training starts with PHY powered down (TEST_PD set)
5. Link training fails and boot hangs when PHY register accesses hang
To fix this:
- Remove TEST_PD PHY power control from imx6q_pcie_enable_ref_clk()
- Remove REF_CLK_EN control from imx6q_pcie_core_reset()
- Add TEST_PD PHY power control to imx6qp_pcie_core_reset(), which
previously relied on imx6q_pcie_enable_ref_clk() to power up the PHY by
clearing TEST_PD
- Clear TEST_PD to power on PHY in imx_pcie_deassert_core_reset()
These changes together ensure the correct sequence:
1. REF_CLK_EN set in clk_enable() (TEST_PD untouched)
2. TEST_PD set in assert_core_reset() (PHY power off)
3. TEST_PD cleared in deassert_core_reset() (PHY power on)
4. Link training starts with proper PHY state
The i.MX6Q/DL PCIe PHY requires approximately 120us between TEST_PD
de-assertion and link training start. Add usleep_range(200, 500) in
imx6q_pcie_core_reset() after clearing TEST_PD to satisfy this requirement.
Add explicit imx_pcie_assert_core_reset() calls in error paths and
host_exit() to ensure no power leak.

aer_print_source() already logs the Error Source Identification Register:
AER: Multiple Correctable error message received from 0000:b7:02.0
However aer_print_error() subsequently identifies the Error Source once
more by emitting an "Error of this Agent is reported first" message.
The additional message was introduced by commit 0d465f2350 ("PCI: pcie,
aer: fix report of multiple errors") because it deemed the message emitted
by aer_print_source() confusing: When the Multiple ERR_COR Received or
Multiple ERR_FATAL/NONFATAL Received bit in the Root Error Status Register
is set, it doesn't mean that all errors originated from the device in the
Error Source Identification Register. Rather, the errors may have come
from multiple distinct devices. The commit sought to make that clearer.
Achieve the commit's objective by rephrasing the message emitted by
aer_print_source() and drop the additional message logged by
aer_print_error() to reduce dmesg noisiness and simplify the code.
While modifying the log message anyway, fix minor grammatical issues:
Append a plural "s" to "message", add a missing closing brace to "(no
details found" and capitalize "Error" to match the spec.

PCIe r7.0 sec 6.2.7 documents the agent and layer of each Correctable and
Uncorrectable Error. Based on this spec section, the AER driver maps
detected errors to an agent and layer using a set of macros and logs them.
Most errors listed in sec 6.2.7 map to the "Receiver" agent and
"Transaction Layer", so the macros use these as defaults unless an error
maps to something else.
However the macros have not been amended since their introduction in 2006
with commit 6c2b374d74 ("PCI-Express AER implemetation: AER core and
aerdriver"). They are still based on PCIe r1.0 sec 7.2.5 (renumbered to
6.2.7 in PCIe r1.1 and newer).
Amend the macros to map errors introduced since then to the appropriate
agent and layer.
PCIe r2.1 introduced a new "Component" agent and "General" layer for
Internal Errors and Header Log Overflow. Add them to the macros.
Unsupported Request is currently mapped to the "Requester" agent, even
though it is reported by the "Receiver". Fix the incorrect mapping.
Sec 6.2.7 neglects to list an agent for Data Link Protocol Error and
Surprise Down Error. Map the latter to "Component" because PCIe r7.0 sec
3.2.1 states that the error is "associated with the detecting Port". Map
the former to "Receiver" because every occurrence of Data Link Protocol
Error in the spec refers to it being logged in the Receiving Port. I have
had these errata reported to the PCI-SIG Protocol Working Group. (There's
also a layout erratum in the REPLAY_NUM Rollover row wherein columns are
shifted to the left, but that's already corrected in the PCIe r7.1 draft

The PCIe port driver fails to probe if it finds no child services,
presumably under the assumption that the driver is not useful in that case.
However, the driver *can* still be useful for power management support --
namely, it still configures the port for runtime PM / D3, which may be
important for allowing a bridge to enter low power modes.
Thus, allow probe to succeed even if no IRQs and no child services are
available. This also mirrors existing behavior for ports that don't support
any portdrv services (PCIe hotplug, AER, DPC, PME, bwctrl), where we'd also
probe successfully.
This change is a bit more important after commit f5cd8a929c ("PCI: dwc:
Remove MSI/MSIX capability for Root Port if iMSI-RX is used as MSI
controller"), because it's common for some DWC-based systems to:
1. have only the "aer" and "pcie_pme" port services available and
2. not define legacy INTx interrupts properly in their device tree.
After commit f5cd8a929c, such systems may fail pcie_init_service_irqs()
and so exit with -ENODEV.

In nested topologies, hotplug reservations get added multiple times into
the bridge window higher up in the hierarchy. Adding reservations for

going to add device at a leaf.

The problem stems from calculate_memsize() that calculates size first and

size = max(0, 2M) + 2M
Alter the logic to first account for the children size before applying the

becomes:

On Intel Arrow Lake-HX systems (e.g. Core Ultra 9 275HX on Acer Predator
PH16-73), the VMD controller reports BUS_RESTRICT_CFG = 3 in the VMCONFIG
register. The existing switch statement only handled values 0, 1, and 2,
causing vmd_get_bus_number_start() to return -ENODEV and aborting the
entire VMD probe. This leaves NVMe drives behind the VMD controller
invisible to the kernel.
Hardware registers (VMCAP/VMCONFIG at offsets 0x40/0x44):

BUS_RESTRICT_CFG(0x03b8) = (0x03b8 >> 8) & 0x3 = 3
Add cfg=3 as a fallthrough to cfg=2, setting busn_start=224, which is
the correct bus number base for this hardware.
Also add a PCI_POSSIBLE_ERROR() guard after reading VMCONFIG: a failed
config space read returns 0xFFFF, and BUS_RESTRICT_CFG(0xFFFF) = 3,
so without this guard a removed or errored device would falsely match
the new case 3 instead of being caught as an error.

On 32-bit systems the config space is too large to ioremap in one go, so
pci_ecam_create() maps each bus segment separately and relies on the
->add_bus callback (pci_ecam_add_bus) to populate the per-bus mapping in
cfg->winp[]. pci_ecam_map_bus() then uses that mapping as the base for
every config access.
The generic ECAM ops (pci_generic_ecam_ops) already provide the ->add_bus
and ->remove_bus callbacks, but the CAM (legacy) ops in pci-host-generic.c
do not. As a result, on a 32-bit host using "pci-host-cam-generic" the
per-bus mapping is never set up and the first config read dereferences a
NULL base, crashing during bus enumeration:

Fix this by giving the CAM ops the same ->add_bus/->remove_bus callbacks.
Since pci_ecam_add_bus() and pci_ecam_remove_bus() are static to ecam.c,
move the CAM ops definition there as pci_generic_cam_ops (mirroring
pci_generic_ecam_ops) and export it for pci-host-generic.c to reference.

starfive_pcie_host_init() acquires the PHY, clocks/resets, and an
optional regulator in sequence, but does not correctly unwind these
resources when a later step fails.
If starfive_pcie_clk_rst_init() fails after the PHY has already been
successfully enabled, the function returns directly without disabling
the PHY, leaking it and leaving it powered.
If regulator_enable() fails for the optional vpcie3v3 regulator, the
failure is only logged; the function falls through and returns
success, leaving the driver believing the regulator is enabled while
continuing to configure PCIe hardware that may be unpowered. This
also leaves the clocks and PHY enabled with nothing to clean them up.
Disable the PHY on the clk/reset failure path, and disable the

While every PCI Function that implements ATS has an independent ATS
Extended Capability structure with a Read/Write Smallest Translation
Unit (STU) field, the kernel manages SR-IOV ATS by requiring the IOMMU
driver to configure the STU on the Physical Function (PF) before any
any Virtual Functions (VFs) are created.
Currently, pci_prepare_ats() bails out early for VFs, assuming that the
PF has already been correctly prepared. However, this creates a potential
mismatch if a VF is subsequently prepared with a different page shift.
Update pci_prepare_ats() to validate that the requested page shift (ps)
matches the STU already configured in the associated PF. This ensures
early detection of incompatible configurations and maintains the kernel's
policy of consistent STU sizing across all functions associated with a
given SMMU.

Currently, the pcie-qcom driver recursively parses the PERST# GPIO from all
child nodes defined in DT and acquires them. But this creates issues with
PERST# GPIO provided by one of the child devices like the PCIe switch port.
In this case, the RC driver cannot acquire the PERST# GPIO since it will be
provided by the child PCIe device which was not yet enumerated during RC
driver probe.
Fix this by checking if the GPIO provider is a child of the RC's DT node
(i.e., sits behind this PCIe controller). If so, skip it, as PERST#

pci_read_legacy_io() passes the sysfs buffer directly to pci_legacy_read():
return pci_legacy_read(bus, off, (u32 *)buf, count);
The PowerPC implementation stores the result as a native-endian integer:
*((u16 *)val) = in_le16(addr);
On big-endian PowerPC this stores the bytes in the wrong order, so
a 2-byte read of a device register returns different bytes than two
1-byte reads at the same addresses. The same applies to 4-byte
reads. On little-endian the native byte order already matches PCI
I/O port byte order, so the conversion is a no-op.
Thus, let pci_legacy_read() store into a local u32 variable, then
copy the I/O port value to the sysfs buffer using put_unaligned_le16()
and put_unaligned_le32() for the 2 and 4 byte cases, converting from
the native integer to little-endian byte order matching PCI I/O port
space.
No changes are needed for the Alpha platform.
The legacy_io file is root-only and exists only on Alpha and PowerPC,
the two architectures that define HAVE_PCI_LEGACY.

pci_write_legacy_io() loads 4 bytes from the kernfs write buffer
regardless of how many bytes userspace wrote:
if (count != 1 && count != 2 && count != 4)
return -EINVAL;
return pci_legacy_write(bus, off, *(u32 *)buf, count);
kernfs_fop_write_iter() allocates the buffer with kmalloc(len + 1),
so a 1-byte write to the legacy_io sysfs file allocates 2 bytes and
the unconditional u32 load reads up to 2 bytes past the end of the
allocation, which KASAN reports as a slab-out-of-bounds read.
Similarly, a 2-byte write overreads by 1 byte.
Thus, read only the number of bytes requested using get_unaligned_le16()
and get_unaligned_le32() for the 2 and 4 byte cases, interpreting the
buffer as little-endian to match the byte ordering of PCI I/O port
space.
The PowerPC implementation previously compensated for the generic
code's native-endian 32-bit load by shifting the value into place
for the 1 and 2 byte cases. The shifts were only correct on
big-endian kernels.
On little-endian PowerPC (POWER8 and later), they extracted the wrong
bytes, so a 1-byte write wrote an out-of-bounds byte instead of the
requested value. On big-endian, the native load also caused out_le16()
and out_le32() to reverse the user's bytes on the wire for 2 and 4 byte
writes. The little-endian helpers resolve both issues, so the shifts
are removed.
No changes are needed for the Alpha platform.
The legacy_io file is root-only and exists only on Alpha and PowerPC,
the two architectures that define HAVE_PCI_LEGACY.

Meson devicetree defines the PERST# GPIO as 'reset' GPIO. Commit
4d3186a525 ("PCI: amlogic: Fix reset assertion via gpio descriptor")
inverted the PERST# assertion logic to use proper GPIO descriptor semantics
and moved the polarity configuration to the device tree as GPIO_ACTIVE_LOW.
However, the initial PERST# GPIO state "GPIOD_OUT_LOW" was not updated
accordingly.
This results in the enumeration failure of the endpoint devices as
PERST# would get deasserted while requesting the GPIO even before
power and REFCLK becomes stable.

pci_host_common_parse_ports() returns -ENODEV if the bridge nodes (RP) are
not present or PERST# is only found in the Root Complex node. Then the
callers (currently just pci-imx6) assume that they need to fall back to
parsing the legacy DT binding.
But this behavior won't scale across Root Complex designs because PERST#
is not the only optional property that the callers would need to consider
for falling back to legacy binding. There could be many properties and the
API cannot incorporate all of them.
So to keep the API implementation simple, just return 0 when bridge nodes
were not found. Then it is up to the caller to use its own logic to decide
whether to fall back to legacy binding or not.
Since there is only one caller now, update the caller to skip -ENODEV check
and check for the PERST# GPIO in any of the bridge nodes and fall back to
legacy binding if not found.

Add support for the RZ/V2H(P) SoC PCIe controllers to the rzg3s-host
driver.
The RZ/V2H(P) SoC features two independent PCIe controllers that share
four physical lanes. The hardware supports two configuration modes:
single x4 mode where the first controller uses all four lanes, or dual
x2 mode where both controllers use two lanes each.
Introduce a setup_lanes() function pointer to configure the PCIe lanes
based on the hardware instance. Implement rzv2h_pcie_setup_lanes() to
detect the configuration at boot time and program the lane mode via the
system controller.

pci_write_rom() controls access to the ROM content through the
corresponding sysfs attribute, and treats the input as a request to
disable only when it matches the string "0\n" exactly:
if ((off == 0) && (*buf == '0') && (count == 2))
The count == 2 condition encodes the trailing newline that echo(1) appends.
This was found when userspace wrote "0" without a trailing newline aiming
to disable access, which failed to match the condition above and enabled
access instead. For example:
$ echo 0 > rom # "0\n", count 2, access disabled
$ echo -n 0 > rom # "0", count 1, access enabled
$ echo > rom # "", count 1, access enabled (likely not desirable)
Parse the input with kstrtobool(), which handles common boolean inputs such
as "0", "1", "n", "y" or "off", "on", with or without a trailing newline,
so both of the above disable access, and update the now stale comment.
As a side effect, input that does not parse as a boolean is rejected with
-EINVAL rather than enabling access. The documented "0" and "1" continue
to work as before, and rejecting malformed input brings the attribute in
line with how sysfs attributes typically handle it.

Currently, __resource_resize_store() uses sysfs_remove_groups() and
sysfs_create_groups() on pci_dev_resource_attr_groups to tear down and
recreate the resourceN files after a BAR resize, so the updated BAR sizes
are visible in sysfs.
The resourceN files only exist on platforms that define HAVE_PCI_MMAP or
ARCH_GENERIC_PCI_MMAP_RESOURCE. On platforms that define neither,
pci_dev_resource_attr_groups is NULL and the sysfs_remove_groups() and
sysfs_create_groups() calls in __resource_resize_store() become no-ops.
Resizable BAR (ReBAR) is a PCI Express Extended Capability
(PCI_EXT_CAP_ID_REBAR) that requires PCIe extended config space. Every
PCIe-capable architecture defines HAVE_PCI_MMAP or
ARCH_GENERIC_PCI_MMAP_RESOURCE (via arch headers or the asm-generic/pci.h

Currently, the PCI resource files (resourceN, resourceN_wc) are dynamically
created by pci_create_sysfs_dev_files(), called from both
pci_bus_add_device() and the pci_sysfs_init() late_initcall, with only a
sysfs_initialized flag for synchronisation. This has caused warnings and
boot panics when both paths race on the same device, e.g.:
sysfs: cannot create duplicate filename '/devices/pci0000:3c/0000:3c:01.0/0000:3e:00.2/resource2'
This is especially likely on Devicetree-based platforms, where the PCI host
controllers are platform drivers that probe via the driver model, which can
happen during or after the late_initcall. As such, pci_bus_add_device()
and pci_sysfs_init() are more likely to overlap.
Convert to static const attributes with three attribute groups (I/O, UC,
WC), each with an .is_bin_visible() callback that checks resource flags,
BAR length, and non_mappable_bars. A .bin_size() callback provides
pci_resource_len() to the kernfs node for correct stat and lseek behaviour.
As part of this conversion:
- Rename pci_read_resource_io() and pci_write_resource_io() to
pci_read_resource() and pci_write_resource() since the callbacks are no
longer I/O-specific in the static attribute context.
- Update __resource_resize_store() to use sysfs_create_groups() and
sysfs_remove_groups(), which re-evaluates visibility and runs the
.bin_size() callback for the static resource attribute groups.
- Remove pci_create_resource_files(), pci_remove_resource_files(), and
pci_create_attr() which are no longer needed.
- Move the __weak stubs outside the #if guard so they remain available
for callers converted in subsequent commits.
Platforms that do not define the HAVE_PCI_MMAP macro or the
ARCH_GENERIC_PCI_MMAP_RESOURCE macro, such as Alpha architecture,
continue using their platform-specific resource file creation.
For reference, the dynamic creation dates back to the pre-Git era:
https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/tglx/history.git/commit/drivers/pci/pci-sysfs.c?id=42298be0eeb5ae98453b3374c36161b05a46c5dc

pci_proc_attach_device() creates procfs entries for PCI devices and is
called from pci_bus_add_device(). It lazily creates the per-bus procfs
directory (bus->procdir) via proc_mkdir() on first use, and returns early
if proc_initialized is not yet set.
On x86 with ACPI, PCI enumeration occurs at subsys_initcall, before
pci_proc_init() sets proc_initialized at device_initcall. The
for_each_pci_dev() loop in pci_proc_init() then creates procfs entries for
these already-enumerated devices, but runs without holding
pci_rescan_remove_lock.
On ARM64 with devicetree, PCI host bridges probe at device_initcall. With
async probing enabled, pci_bus_add_device() can run concurrently with
pci_proc_init(), and both may call pci_proc_attach_device() for the same
device or for different devices on the same bus. As pci_host_probe() holds
pci_rescan_remove_lock while pci_proc_init() does not, there is no
serialisation between the two paths.
When two threads concurrently call pci_proc_attach_device() for devices on
the same bus, both observe bus->procdir as NULL and both call proc_mkdir().
The proc filesystem serialises directory creation internally, so only one
caller succeeds. The other results in a warning like:
proc_dir_entry '000c:00/00.0' already registered
The caller receives NULL (duplicate entry) and unconditionally stores it to
bus->procdir, corrupting the valid pointer set by the first caller.
Serialise access to proc_initialized, proc_bus_pci_dir, bus->procdir and
dev->procent with a new mutex local to drivers/pci/proc.c, and store the
created entries to bus->procdir and dev->procent only on success, so a
failed creation can never overwrite a valid pointer.
Additionally, wrap the for_each_pci_dev() loop in pci_proc_init() with
pci_lock_rescan_remove() to serialise against concurrent PCI bus
operations, add an early return in pci_proc_attach_device() when
dev->procent is already set to make the function idempotent, and clear
bus->procdir in pci_proc_detach_bus() to prevent use of a dangling pointer
after proc_remove().

Callers of __pci_bridge_assign_resources() and __pci_bus_assign_resources()
perform WARN_ON_ONCE(list_empty(add_list))) checks to sanity check that all
optional sizes were processed (and removed) from the list. The empty list
sanity check is duplicated code so the more appropriate place for it would
be inside the called function.
Placing the empty list check into __pci_bus_assign_resources() also ensures
all callsites do perform the sanity check which currently is not the case
when being called from enable_slot(). This inconsistency was noted by
Sashiko though only inside its in depth log but not flagged as a real

The resource fitting algorithm uses different names from the list holding
the optional sizes: added, add_head, add_list, and realloc_head. 'add_list'
sounds the most natural and some of the related variables also use 'add'

To reduce variation, rename 'added' and 'add_head' to 'add_list'. Also
rename some 'realloc_head' cases selectively to 'add_list'.
While it would be nice to rename every 'realloc_head' to 'add_list' for

changing it from configfs can leave runtime paths using a different count

ntb_db_event() expects the vector number to be relative to the first
doorbell vector starting at 0.
pci-epf-vntb reserves vector 0 for link events and uses higher vector
indices for doorbells. By passing the raw slot index to ntb_db_event(),
it effectively assumes that doorbell 0 maps to vector 1.
However, because the host uses a legacy slot layout and writes doorbell
0 into the third slot, doorbell 0 ultimately appears as vector 2 from
the NTB core perspective.
Adjust pci-epf-vntb to:
- skip the unused second slot, and
- report doorbells as 0-based vectors (DB#0 -> vector 0).
This change does not introduce a behavioral difference until
.db_vector_count()/.db_vector_mask() are implemented, because without
those callbacks NTB clients effectively ignore the vector number.

vntb_epf_peer_db_set() raises an MSI interrupt to notify the RC side of
a doorbell event. pci_epc_raise_irq(..., PCI_IRQ_MSI, interrupt_num)
takes a 1-based MSI interrupt number.
The ntb_hw_epf driver reserves MSI #1 for link events, so doorbells
would naturally start at MSI #2 (doorbell bit 0 -> MSI #2). However,
pci-epf-vntb has historically applied an extra offset and mapped doorbell
bit 0 to MSI #3. This matches the legacy behavior of ntb_hw_epf and has
been preserved since commit e35f56bb03 ("PCI: endpoint: Support NTB
transfer between RC and EP").
This offset has not surfaced as a functional issue because:
- ntb_hw_epf typically allocates enough MSI vectors, so the off-by-one
still hits a valid MSI vector, and
- ntb_hw_epf does not implement .db_vector_count()/.db_vector_mask(), so
client drivers such as ntb_transport effectively ignore the vector
number and schedule all QPs.
Correcting the MSI number would break interoperability with peers
running older kernels.
Document the legacy offset to avoid confusion when enabling
per-db-vector handling.

epf_ntb->db_count value should be within 1 to MAX_DB_COUNT. Current code
only checks for the upper bound, while the lower bound is unchecked. This
can cause a lot of issues in the driver if the user passes 'db_count' as 0.
Add a check for 0 also. While at it, remove the redundant 'db_count'
variable from epf_ntb_configure_interrupt().

pci_host_common_init() is used by several generic ECAM host drivers.
After PCI core changes around pci_flags and preserve_config, these hosts
no longer opted into full bus number reassignment the way they did
before, which broke enumeration of devices on a Marvell CN106XX board.
When PCI_PROBE_ONLY is not set, add PCI_REASSIGN_ALL_BUS so
pci_scan_bridge_extend() takes the reassignment path: bus numbers can be
assigned from firmware EA data (e.g. pci_ea_fixed_busnrs()). Skip the
flag in probe-only mode so existing assignments are not overridden.

Commit b64aa11eb2 ("PCI: Set bridge map_irq and swizzle_irq to default
functions") moved the assignment of default .map_irq() callback to
devm_of_pci_bridge_init() and removed the initialization of
'iproc_pcie::map_irq' in platform bus driver. This led to the callback
getting assigned the NULL pointer for platform bus driver, thereby breaking
the INTx functionality, since 'iproc_pcie::map_irq' overrides the
'pci_host_bridge::map_irq' callback in iproc_pcie_setup().
This issue only affected the iproc platform bus driver as this driver
relies on the default callback for non-PAXC controllers. iproc-brcm driver
was already providing the custom mapping function, so it was unaffected.
Restore the original (and intended) behaviour to use the default map_irq
function by removing the local 'iproc_pcie::map_irq' pointer and directly
assigning the 'pci_host_bridge::map_irq' callback in iproc-bcma driver.
This ensures that the default 'map_irq' callback is used for platform bus
driver and only iproc-brcm driver overrides it with a custom one.
