This converts some of the visually simpler cases that have been split
over multiple lines. I only did the ones that are easy to verify the
resulting diff by having just that final GFP_KERNEL argument on the next
line.
Somebody should probably do a proper coccinelle script for this, but for
me the trivial script actually resulted in an assertion failure in the
middle of the script. I probably had made it a bit _too_ trivial.
So after fighting that far a while I decided to just do some of the
syntactically simpler cases with variations of the previous 'sed'
scripts.
The more syntactically complex multi-line cases would mostly really want
whitespace cleanup anyway.

This is the exact same thing as the 'alloc_obj()' version, only much
smaller because there are a lot fewer users of the *alloc_flex()
interface.
As with alloc_obj() version, this was done entirely with mindless brute
force, using the same script, except using 'flex' in the pattern rather
than 'objs*'.

This was done entirely with mindless brute force, using
git grep -l '\<k[vmz]*alloc_objs*(.*, GFP_KERNEL)' |
xargs sed -i 's/\(alloc_objs*(.*\), GFP_KERNEL)/\1)/'
to convert the new alloc_obj() users that had a simple GFP_KERNEL
argument to just drop that argument.
Note that due to the extreme simplicity of the scripting, any slightly
more complex cases spread over multiple lines would not be triggered:
they definitely exist, but this covers the vast bulk of the cases, and
the resulting diff is also then easier to check automatically.
For the same reason the 'flex' versions will be done as a separate
conversion.

This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from
scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. The script is designed to
avoid scalar types (which need careful case-by-case checking), and
instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union
object instances:
Single allocations: kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with: kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...)
Array allocations: kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with: kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...)
Flex array allocations: kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...)
are replaced with: kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...)
(where TYPE may also be *VAR)
The resulting allocations no longer return "void *", instead returning
"TYPE *".

There has been a series of conversion to scoped for each OF child

* Bindings
The bulk of the changes consists in binding fixes/updates to restrict
the use of undefined properties, which was almost inefficient in the
current form because of the nesting of partition nodes and the lack of
compatible strings sometimes.
These changes are accompanied by YAML conversions and the addition of a
dma-coherent property in the cdns,hp-nfc driver.
* SPI NAND
The major feature this release is the support for octal DTR
modes (8D-8D-8D).
Support for Foresee F35SQB002G chips has been added.
Other changes are small misc fixes.

Macronix serial NAND devices with continuous read support do not
clear the configuration register on soft reset and lack a hardware
reset pin. When continuous read is interrupted (e.g., during reboot),
the feature remains enabled at the device level.
With continuous read enabled, the OOB area becomes inaccessible and
all reads are instead directed to the main area. As a result, during
partition allocation as part of MTD device registration, the first two
bytes of the main area for the master block are read and indicate that
the block is bad. This process repeats for every subsequent block for
the partition.
All reads and writes that reference the BBT find no good blocks and
fail.
The only paths for recovery from this state are triggering the
continuous read feature by way of raw MTD reads or through a NAND
device power drain.
Disable continuous read explicitly during spinand probe to ensure
quiescent feature state.

Create a new bus interface named ODTR for "octal DTR", which matches the
following pattern: 8D-8D-8D.
Add octal DTR support for all the existing core operations. Add a second
set of templates for this bus interface.
Give the possibility for drivers to register their read, write and
update cache variants as well as their vendor specific operations.
Check the SPI controller driver supports all the octal DTR commands that
we might need before switching to the ODTR bus interface.
Make the switch by calling ->configure_chip() with the ODTR
parameter. Fallback in case this step fails.
If someone ever attempts to suspend a chip in octal DTR mode, there are
changes that it will loose its configuration at resume. Prevent any
problem by explicitly switching back to SSDR while suspending. Note:
there is a limitation in the current approach, page I/Os are not
available as the dirmaps will be created for the ODTR bus interface if
that option is supported and not switched back to SSDR during
suspend. Switching them is possible but would be costly and would not
bring anything as right after resuming we will switch again to ODTR. In
case this capability is used for debug, developpers should mind to
destroy and recreate suitable direct mappings.
Finally, as a side effect, we increase the buffer for reading IDs to
6. No device at this point returns 6 bytes, but we support 5 bytes IDs,
which means in octal DTR mode we have no other choice than reading an
even number of bytes, hence 6.

The chip configuration hook is the one responsible to actually switch
the switch between bus interfaces. It is natural to give it the bus
interface we expect with a new parameter. For now the only value we can
give is SSDR, but this is subject to change in the future, so add a bit
of extra logic in the implementations of this callback to make sure
both the core and the chip driver are aligned on the request.

For now all drivers provide SSDR variants only. When we add support for
ODTR modes, there will be a need to differentiate the type of variant we
target as well as the need to check if we support one or the other type
of operations.
Pass this parameter to lower level helpers, which for now is unused, in
order to simplify the patch introducing ODTR support.

Create a bus interface enumeration, currently only containing the
one we support: SSDR, for single SDR, so any operation whose command is
sent over a single data line in SDR mode, ie. any operation matching
1S-XX-XX.
The main spinand_device structure gets a new parameter to store this
enumeration, for now unused. Of course it is set to SSDR during the SSDR
templates initialization to further clarify the state we are in at the
moment.
This member is subject to be used to know in which bus configuration we
and be updated by the core when we switch to faster mode(s).

Writing the quad enable bit in one helper and doing the chip
configuration in another does not make much sense from a bus interface
setup point of view.
Instead, let's create a broader helper which is going to be in charge of
all the bus configuration steps at once. This will specifically allow to
transition to octal DDR mode, and even fallback to quad (if suppoorted)
or single mode otherwise.
Signed-off-by: Miquel Raynal <miquel.raynal@bootlin.com>
When we will change the bus interface, the action that actually performs
the transition is the IO mode register write. This means after the IO
mode register write, we should use the new bus interface. But the
->configure_chip() hook itself is not responsible of making this change
official, it is the caller that must act according to the return value.
Reorganize this helper to first configure the dummy cycles before
possibly switching to another bus interface.

It is probably safe to expect that all SPI controller drivers will ever
support all the most basic SPI NAND operations, such as write enable,
register reads, page program, block erases, etc. However, what about
vendor specific operations? So far nobody complained about it, but as we
are about to introduce octal DTR support, and as none of the SPI NAND
instruction set is defined in any standard, we must remain careful about
these extra operations.
One way to make sure we do not blindly get ourselves in strange
situations with vendor commands failing silently is to make the check
once for all, while probing the chip. However at this stage we have no
such list, so let's add the necessary infrastructure to allow:
- registering vendor operations,
- checking they are actually supported when appropriate.

Create a SPINAND_OP() macro to which we give the name of the operation
we want. This macro retrieves the correct operation template based on
the current bus interface (currently only single SDR, will soon be
extended to octal DTR) and fills it with the usual parameters.
This macro makes the transition from calling directly the low-level
macros into using the (bus interface dependent) templates very smooth.
Use it in all places that can be trivially converted. At this stage

Reviewed-by: Tudor Ambarus <tudor.ambarus@linaro.org>

Currently, the SPI NAND core implementation directly calls macros to get
the various operations in shape. These macros are specific to the bus
interface, currently only supporting the single SDR interface (any
command following the 1S-XX-XX pattern).
Introducing support for other bus interfaces (such as octal DTR) would
mean that every user of these macros should become aware of the current
bus interface and act accordingly, picking up and adapting to the
current configuration. This would add quite a bit of boilerplate, be
repetitive as well as error prone in case we miss one occurrence.
Instead, let's create a table with all SPI NAND memory operations that
are currently supported. We initialize them with the same single SDR _OP
macros as before. This opens the possibility for users of the individual
macros to make use of these templates instead. This way, when we will add
another bus interface, we can just switch to another set of templates
and all users will magically fill in their spi_mem_op structures with
the correct ops.
The existing read, write and update cache variants are also moved in
this template array, which is barely noticeable by callers as we also
add a structure member pointing to it.

Fix it by using a 64-bit literal (1ULL) so the shift is performed in a 64-bit type.

The regions array is counted by nregions, but it's set only after
accessing it:
[] UBSAN: array-index-out-of-bounds in drivers/mtd/devices/mtd_intel_dg.c:750:15

Fix it by also fixing an undesired behavior: the loop silently ignores
ENOMEM and continues setting the other entries.

The Atmel NAND controller driver depends on an SRAM pool and has an
implicit assumption that the SRAM pool has already been created.
Changing the initcall ordering can break this. Unfortunately, fw_devlink
can't save us here as there's not a standard property to track the
dependency. So it's up to deferring probe to save us.

Currently even if none of the custom parsers are selected a struct
of_device_id and a dummy function that just returns -EOPNOTSUPP is
compiled in for each of them.
Its not obvious from the code but struct of_device_id is massive,
196 or 200 bytes (see link), so this is a lot more wasteful than you'd
think just skimming the code and assuming the wasted size is just the
length of the string with some small overhead.
If they aren't enabled use ifdef's to avoid anything being compiled
in and remove the dummy functions.

from cadence_nand_cdma_send(), returns -ETIMEDOUT on failure and -EIO

However, it is declared as u32, causing error codes to wrap.

Add support for Dosilicon DS35Q1GA (3.3V) and DS35M1GA (1.8V) SPI NAND.
These are 1Gbit (128MB) devices with:
- 2048 byte pages + 64 byte OOB
- 64 pages per block, 1024 blocks
- On-die 4-bit ECC per 512 byte sector
The 64-byte OOB area is divided into 4 segments of 16 bytes, with each
segment containing 8 bytes of user data (M2+M1) and 8 bytes of ECC
parity (R1). This provides 30 bytes of usable OOB space after reserving
2 bytes for the bad block marker.
Tested on Genexis Platinum 4410 (EcoNet EN751221) by writing known
patterns to OOB and verifying ECC parity placement in R1 regions.

need 8 dummy cycles. Add fixup hooks to specify that. Also add fixup
hooks to fix incorrect map ID data in SFDP.
- Add support for a bunch of Winbond flashes. Their block protection
information is not discoverable, so they need to have an entry in the

- Some SPI controllers like the Intel one on the PCI bus do not support
the read CR opcode (0x35). Do not use the opcode if the controller

Aside from these main changes, there is the usual load of API updates,
kdoc fixes, potential memory leaks fixes, etc.

strncpy() is deprecated [1] for NUL-terminated destination buffers
because it does not guarantee NUL termination. It also unnecessarily
NUL-pads the destination buffer if the source is shorter. Replace it
with sysfs_emit() using the "%.*s" format specifier and supply the
length 'sm_attr->len' to improve sm_attr_show().
Return the number of characters actually written to 'buf' instead of
'sm_attr->len'.

There are several places where a value of type 'int' is shifted by
lpddr->chipshift. lpddr->chipshift is derived from QINFO geometry and
might reach 31 when QINFO reports a 2 GiB size - the maximum supported by
LPDDR(1) compliant chips. This may cause unexpected sign-extensions when
casting the integer value to the type of 'unsigned long'.
Use '1UL << lpddr->chipshift' and cast 'j' to unsigned long before
shifting so the computation is performed at the destination width.
Found by Linux Verification Center (linuxtesting.org) with SVACE.

This patch prevents unnecessary programming of bits in ec_hdr and
vid_hdr that are not used or read during normal UBI operation. These
unused bits are typcially already set to 1 in erased flash and do not
need to be explicitly programmed to 0 if they are not used.
Programming such unused areas offers no functional benefit and may
result in unnecessary flash wear, reducing the overall lifetime of the
device. By skipping these writes, we preserve the flash state as much as
possible and minimize wear caused by redundant operations.
This change ensures that only necessary fields are written when preparing
UBI headers, improving flash efficiency without affecting functionality.
Additionally, the Kioxia TC58NVG1S3HTA00 datasheet (page 63) also notes
that continuous program/erase cycling with a high percentage of '0' bits
in the data pattern can accelerate block endurance degradation.
This further supports avoiding large 0x00 patterns.

The MT35XU02GCBA flash device does not support chip erase, according to

implementation will likely need to be converted to use die erase.
Furthermore, similar to the MT35XU01GBBA, the
SPI_NOR_IO_MODE_EN_VOLATILE flag probably needs to be enabled.
Currently no active contributor has access to this hardware so there is
no way of testing the fixes. Add a TODO item on the flash entry so
someone with the flash can test that the support is indeed broken and
send the fixes.

Commit 5c2f7727d4 ("mtd: mtdpart: check for subpartitions parsing
result") introduced some kind of regression with parser on subpartitions
where if a parser emits an error then the entire parsing process from the
upper parser fails and partitions are deleted.
Not checking for error in subpartitions was originally intended as
special parser can emit error also in the case of the partition not
correctly init (for example a wiped partition) or special case where the
partition should be skipped due to some ENV variables externally
provided (from bootloader for example)
One example case is the TRX partition where, in the context of a wiped
partition, returns a -ENOENT as the trx_magic is not found in the
expected TRX header (as the partition is wiped)
To better handle this and still keep some kind of error tracking (for
example to catch -ENOMEM errors or -EINVAL errors), permit parser on
subpartition to emit -ENOENT error, print a debug log and skip them
accordingly.
This results in giving better tracking of the status of the parser
(instead of returning just 0, dropping any kind of signal that there is
something wrong with the parser) and to some degree restore the original
logic of the subpartitions parse.
(worth to notice that some special partition might have all the special
header present for the parser and declare 0 partition in it, this is why
it would be wrong to simply return 0 in the case of a special partition
that is NOT init for the scanning parser)

S25FS-S family supports SMPT that helps to detect sector layout settings
in configuration registers, but some of parameters in the table are
wrong or undetermined so the fixups below are required.
Read Any Register op is used to read configuration registers that
related to sector map. The op requires 8 cycles latency by default.
Implement smpt_read_dummy() to set correct dummy cycles.
Map ID is structured by combination of CR3NV[3], CR1NV[2], and CR3NV[1].
However, in S25FS512S, CR3NV[1] is RFU and always 0, while map IDs
defined in the table assume it is always 1. Implement smpt_map_id() to
fix map ID for S25FS512S. Other densities in S25FS-S family (256Mb and
128Mb) don't need this fix as CR3NV[1] in those chips is configurable
and map IDs are correctly defined in SMPT.

Certain chips have inconsistent Sector Map Parameter Table (SMPT) data,
which leads to the wrong map ID being identified, causing failures to
detect the correct sector map.
To fix this, introduce smpt_map_id() into the struct spi_nor_fixups.
This function will be called after the initial SMPT-based detection,
allowing chip-specific logic to correct the map ID.

SMPT contains config detection info that describes opcode, address, and
dummy cycles to read sector map config. The dummy cycles parameter can
be SMPT_CMD_READ_DUMMY_IS_VARIABLE and in that case nor->read_dummy
(initialized as 0) is used. In Infineon flash chips, Read Any Register
command with variable dummy cycle is defined in SMPT. S25Hx/S28Hx flash
has 0 dummy cycle by default to read volatile regiters and
nor->read_dummy can work. S25FS-S flash has 8 dummy cycles so we need a
hook that can fix dummy cycles with actually used value.
Inroduce smpt_read_dummy() in struct spi_nor_fixups. It is called when
the dummy cycle field in SMPT config detection is 'varialble'.

The "req.start" and "req.len" variables are u64 values that come from the
user at the start of the function. We mask away the high 32 bits of
"req.len" so that's capped at U32_MAX but the "req.start" variable can go
up to U64_MAX which means that the addition can still integer overflow.
Use check_add_overflow() to fix this bug.

A key feature for the new bitmap are that the IO fastpath is
lockless. If a user issues lots of write IO to the same bitmap
bit in a short time, only the first write has additional overhead
to update bitmap bit, no additional overhead for the following
writes.
By supporting only resync or recover written data, means in the
case creating new array or replacing with a new disk, there is no
need to do a full disk resync/recovery.

The Realtek RTl93xx switch SoC series has a built in ECC controller
that can provide BCH6 or BCH12 over 512 data and 6 tag bytes. It
generates 10 (BCH6) or 20 (BCH12) bytes of parity.
This engine will most likely work in conjunction with the Realtek
spi-mem based NAND controller but can work on its own. Therefore
the initial implementation will be of type external.
Remark! The engine can support any data blocks that are multiples
of 512 bytes. For now limit it to data+oob layouts that have been
analyzed from existing devices. This way it keeps compatibility
and pre-existing vendor data can be read.

Continuous reading may result in multiple flash pages reading in one
operation. Unfortunately, not all spinand controllers support such
large reading. They will read less data. Unfortunately, the operation
can't be continued.
In this case:
* disable continuous reading on this (not good enough) spi controller
* repeat reading in regular mode.

Continuous reading may result in multiple flash pages reading in one
operation. Typically only one flash page has read/written (a little bit
more than 2-4 Kb), but continuous reading requires the spi controller
to read up to 512 Kb in one operation without toggling CS in beetween.
Roughly speaking spi controllers can be divided on 2 categories:
* spi controllers without dirmap acceleration support
* spi controllers with dirmap acceleration support
Firt of them will have issues with continuous reading if restriction on
the transfer length is implemented in the adjust_op_size() handler.
Second group often supports acceleration of single page only reading.
Thus enabling of continuous reading can break flash reading.
This patch tries to create dirmap for continuous reading first and
fallback to regular reading if spi controller refuses to create it.

The check function for bitflips in erased blocks will be needed
by the Realtek ECC engine driver (which is currently under
development). Right now it is located in raw/nand_base.c.
While this is sufficient for the current usecases, there is
no real dependency for an ECC engine on the raw nand library.
Move the function over to a more generic place in core library.

Repeatedly marking the same eraseblock bad inflates
mtd->ecc_stats.badblocks because mtd_block_markbad() unconditionally
increments the counter on success, while some implementations (e.g.
NAND) return 0 both when the block was already bad and when it has just
been marked[1].
Fix by checking if the block is already bad before calling
->_block_markbad() when _block_isbad is available. Only skip the counter
increment when we can confirm the block was already bad. In all other
cases continue incrementing the counter.
This keeps the logic centralized in mtdcore without requiring driver
changes.

The exposed information also makes it easier to analyze NAND dumps

The page address register describes the page address of the starting
address for NAND read/write/erase operations.
According to the manual, it consists of two parts:
{chip select, page number}
The `chip select` is fixed at 2 bits, and the `page number` is
determined based on the actual capacity of the single-chip memory.
Therefore we need to determine the `chip select` bits base on the `page
number`.
For example, for a 1GB capacity chip (2K page size), it has 1M pages.
Thus, [19:0] is used to represent the page number, and [21:20]
represents the chip select.

Prevent PMECC errors when reading from AMD/Spansion S34ML02G1 flash on
SAM9X60 SoC, after switching to ONFI timing mode 3.
From reading the S34ML02G1 and the SAM9X60 datasheets again, it seems
like we have to wait tREA after rising RE# before sampling the data.
Thus pulse must be at least tREA.
The previous approach to set this timing worked on sam9g20 and sama5d2
with the same flash (S34ML02G1), probably because those have a slower
mck clock rate and thus the resolution of the timings setup is not as
tight as with sam9x60.
The approach to fix the issue was carried over from u-boot, which itself
got it from at91bootstrap. It has been successfully tested in
at91bootstrap, U-Boot and Linux on sam9x60 and sama5d2, for several
months here.

The s3c2410 NAND driver still supports S3C64xx platform, which in
general is supported in the kernel. There are however no references of
"s3c6400-nand" platform device ID or "s3c24xx-nand" driver, thus this
driver cannot be instantiated for S3C64xx platform and is basically
unused.

On Octal DTR capable flashes like Micron Xcella the writes cannot start
or end at an odd address in Octal DTR mode. Extra 0xff bytes need to be
appended or prepended to make sure the start address and end address are
even. 0xff is used because on NOR flashes a program operation can only
flip bits from 1 to 0, not the other way round. 0 to 1 flip needs to
happen via erases.

On Octal DTR capable flashes like Micron Xcella reads cannot start or
end at an odd address in Octal DTR mode. Extra bytes need to be read at
the start or end to make sure both the start address and length remain
even.
To avoid allocating too much extra memory, thereby putting unnecessary
memory pressure on the system, the temporary buffer containing the extra
padding bytes is capped at PAGE_SIZE bytes. The rest of the 2-byte
aligned part should be read directly in the main buffer.

Change the 'ret' variable from u32 to int in pl35x_nand_probe() to store
negative error codes or zero;
Storing the negative error codes in unsigned type, doesn't cause an issue
at runtime but can be confusing. Additionally, assigning negative error
codes to unsigned type may trigger a GCC warning when the -Wsign-conversion
flag is enabled.
No effect on runtime.

Having setup time 0 violates tAR, tCLR of some chips, for instance
TOSHIBA TC58NVG2S3ETAI0 cannot be detected successfully (first ID byte
being read duplicated, i.e. 98 98 dc 90 15 76 14 03 instead of
98 dc 90 15 76 ...).
Atmel Application Notes postulated 1 cycle NRD_SETUP without explanation
[1], but it looks more appropriate to just calculate setup time properly.

GD5F1GM9 supports a high-speed Continuous Read (CR) mode which allows
the entire memory array to be read out by a single read command
without re-issuing the 13h “Page Read to Cache” command for every page.
Datasheet summary
Feature register B0[3] (NR bit)
1 = Normal Read (default)
0 = Continuous Read (CR)
ECC status register 7Ch
Normal read: bits [3:0] → ECC status of last page
Continuous read: bits [7:4] → accumulated max bit-flips over the
whole sequential read operation.

while reinitializing the sg lists instead of recomputing the number of

Instances are happier that way and it makes more sense anyway -
the only part of the result that is related to partition we are given

Everything else is a function of the disk. Only one instance

that one is trivial to adjust.

Apart from a binding conversion to yaml, only minor changes/small fixes
have been merged.
* Raw NAND changes:
Various controller drivers received minor fixes like DMA mapping checks,
better timing derivations or bitflip statistics.
It has also been discovered that some Hynix NAND flashes were not
supporting read-retries, which is not properly supported.
* SPI NAND changes:
In order to support high-speed modes, certain chips need extra
configuration like adding more dummy cycles. This is now possible,
especially on Winbond chips.
Aside from that, Gigadevice gets support for a new chip (GD5F1GM9).
* SPI NOR changes:
A notable changes is the fix for exiting 4-byte addressing on Infineon
SEMPER flashes. These flashes do not support the standard EX4B
opcode (E9h), and use a vendor-specific opcode (B8h) instead.
There is also a fix for unlocking flashes that are write-protected at
power-on. This was caused by using an uninitialized mtd_info in
spi_nor_try_unlock_all().

Clarify that Winbond octal capable chips may be clocked at up to 166MHz,
which is their absolute maximum.
No per-operation maximum value (captured with a "0" in the table)
involves that in these cases the maximum frequency of the chip applies,
ie. the one commonly described in the DT.

w35n0xjw chips can run at up to 166MHz in octal mode, but this is only
possible after programming various VCR registers.
Implement the new ->configure_chip() hook for this purpose.

w25n0xjw chips have a high-speed capability hidden in a configuration
register. Once enabled, dual/quad SDR reads may be performed at a much
higher frequency.
Implement the new ->configure_chip() hook for this purpose and configure
the SR4 register accordingly.
Signed-off-by: Miquel Raynal <miquel.raynal@bootlin.com>
There is already a manufacturer hook, which is manufacturer specific but
not chip specific. We no longer have access to the actual NAND identity
at this stage so let's add a per-chip configuration hook to align the
chip configuration (if any) with the core's setting.

These macros had initially no frequency field. When I added the "maximum
operation frequency" field, I did it initially on very common macros and
I decided to add an optional field for that (with VA_ARGS) in order to
prevent massively unreadable changes. I then added new variants in the
spinand.h header, and requested a frequency field for them by
default. Some times later, I also added maximum frequencies to other
existing variants, but I did it incorrectly, without noticing I was
wrong because the field was optional.
This mix is error prone, so let's do what I should have done since the
very beginning: add a frequency field to all READ_FROM_CACHE variants.
There is no functional change.
Signed-off-by: Miquel Raynal <miquel.raynal@bootlin.com>
In order to pick the best variant, the duration of each typical
operation is derived and then compared. These durations are based on the
maximum capabilities of the chips, which are commonly the limiting
factors. However there are other possible limiting pieces, such as the
hardware layout, EMC considerations and in some cases, the SPI controller
itself.
We need to take this into account to further refine our variant choice,
so let's use the actual frequency that will be used for the operation
instead of the theoretical maximum.

This series introduces the changes needed for trivial spi
based sensors from ABB, currently operated from userspace.
Commit ff67592cbd ("mtd: spi-nor: Introduce spi_nor_set_mtd_info()")
moved all initialization of the mtd fields at the end of spi_nor_scan().
Normally, the mtd info is only needed for the mtd ops on the device,
with one exception: spi_nor_try_unlock_all(), which will also make use
of the mtd->size parameter. With that commit, the size will always be
zero because it is not initialized. Fix that by not using the size of
the mtd_info struct, but use the size from struct spi_nor_flash_parameter.

The common QPIC code does not do any boundary checking when it handles
the command elements and scatter gater list arrays of a BAM transaction,
thus it allows to access out of bounds elements in those.
Although it is the responsibility of the given driver to allocate enough
space for all possible BAM transaction variations, however there can be
mistakes in the driver code which can lead to hidden memory corruption
issues which are hard to debug.
This kind of problem has been observed during testing the 'spi-qpic-snand'
driver. Although the driver has been fixed with a preceding patch, but it
still makes sense to reduce the chance of having such errors again later.
In order to prevent such errors, change the qcom_alloc_bam_transaction()
function to store the number of elements of the arrays in the
'bam_transaction' strucutre during allocation. Also, add sanity checks to
the qcom_prep_bam_dma_desc_{cmd,data}() functions to avoid using out of
bounds indices for the arrays.

Dual and quad capable chips natively support dual and quad I/O variants
at up to 104MHz (1-2-2 and 1-4-4 operations). Reaching the maximum speed
of 166MHz is theoretically possible (while still unsupported in the
field) by adding a few more dummy cycles. Let's be accurate and clearly
state this limit.
Setting a maximum frequency implies adding the frequency parameter to
the macro, which is done using a variadic argument to avoid impacting
all the other drivers which already make use of this macro.

There's been a mistake when extracting the geometry of the W35N02 and
W35N04 chips from the datasheet. There is a single plane, however there
are respectively 2 and 4 LUNs. They are actually referred in the
datasheet as dies (equivalent of target), but as there is no die select
operation and the chips only feature a single configuration register for
the entire chip (instead of one per die), we can reasonably assume we
are talking about LUNs and not dies.

The idea behind this patch was to always let a "master" mtd device
available to anchor runtime PM. Historically, there was no mtd device
representing the whole storage as soon as partitions were coming into
play. The introduction of CONFIG_MTD_PARTITIONED_MASTER allowed to keep
this "master" device, but was not enabled by default to avoid breaking
existing users (otherwise the mtd device numbering would be totally
messed up with an off by 1, at least).
The approach of adding an mtd_master class on top of partitioned mtd
devices is breaking the mtd core in many creative ways, so better think
again this approach and revert the faulty changes for now.
This reverts commit 0aa7b390fc.

The code in the ntfl write function is rather complex, and it contains
a 512 byte on-stack buffer. The combination of these two leads to using
more than the per-function stack warning limit in some configurations,
especially with KASAN enabled:
drivers/mtd/nftlcore.c:673:12: error: stack frame size (1328) exceeds limit (1280) in 'nftl_writeblock' [-Werror,-Wframe-larger-than]
Avoid this warning by moving the on-stack buffer into a separate function
that only copies one part of the device to another.
This does not really help with the total maximum stack usage in the
(non-KASAN) normal case, but it does two things:
- no single function has more than the warning limit
- the complexity goes down, so the parent function ends up
spilling few local variables, and the total actually goes
down slightly.

and the variable ret remains uninitialized. It is later checked

1S_1D_8D_OP) and "program load" (1S_1S_8S and 1S_8S_8S) operations
supported by the W35N01JW chip.
There is no observable improvement between the two octal SDR modes,
which anyway offered a great read speed improvement compared to single
mode.
flash_speed test results ran on the TI AM62A7 LP SK using a 25MHz SPI bus:
* Single mode:
eraseblock read speed is 2346 KiB/s
page read speed is 2342 KiB/s
eraseblock write speed is 2028 KiB/s
page write speed is 2028 KiB/s
* Octal modes:
eraseblock read speed is 10801 KiB/s
page read speed is 10711 KiB/s
eraseblock write speed is 7335 KiB/s
page write speed is 7293 KiB/s
However, testing on the cadence qspi controller driver did not allow
mixed modes (where SDR and DTR cycles are mixed in the same operation),
thus 1S-1D-8D mode could not be tested and is provided for reference (it
is anyway skipped on platforms not supporting this). It did not allow
easy "update cache" tests either, so these macros are untested and given

and even octal DTR operations as well (including the opcode byte).
Let's clarify what the macro really means by describing the expected bus
topology in the write enable/disable macro names.

SPI operations have been initially described through macros implicitly
implying the use of a single SPI SDR bus. Macros for supporting dual and
quad I/O transfers have been added on top, generally inspired by vendor
vendor naming, followed by DTR operations. Soon we might see octal
and even octal DTR operations as well (including the opcode byte).
Let's clarify what the macro really means by describing the expected bus
topology in the reset macro name.
