[Why&How]
When building the DML files with clang without any sanitizer or LTO,
the following -Wframe-larger-than errors break the build under
CONFIG_WERROR:
display_mode_vba_30.c: error: stack frame size (2512) exceeds limit
(2048) in 'dml30_ModeSupportAndSystemConfigurationFull'
display_mode_vba_31.c: error: stack frame size (2416) exceeds limit
(2048) in 'dml31_ModeSupportAndSystemConfigurationFull'
display_mode_vba_314.c: error: stack frame size (2392) exceeds limit
(2048) in 'dml314_ModeSupportAndSystemConfigurationFull'
Clang consistently spills more than gcc, pushing the frame past the 2048
byte limit.
Apply an existing approach of increasing the warn stack size to the
non-sanitizer path so plain clang builds use a 3072 byte limit.

[WHY]
UBSAN instrumentation adds checks and handler calls and increases
stack usage in the large DML calculation functions, similar to
KASAN and KCSAN. With UBSAN enabled these files exceed the default
-Wframe-larger-than limit and fail to build when -Werror is in effect.
Reproduced with LLVM (make LLVM=1, clang 19.1.1), CONFIG_UBSAN=y,
CONFIG_GCOV_PROFILE_ALL=y and CONFIG_DRM_AMDGPU_WERROR=y on x86_64.
[HOW]
Include CONFIG_UBSAN in the sanitizer check that selects the
higher per-file frame warning limit in the dml and dml2_0
Makefiles.

amdgpu_ring_init() initializes ring->vmid_wait with a reference to the
stub fence taken via dma_fence_get_stub(). When a later step of the
initialization fails, e.g. amdgpu_fence_driver_init_ring(), a writeback
slot allocation or the ring buffer allocation, the function returns an
error without releasing the stub fence reference and the reference is
leaked if the ring is torn down without amdgpu_ring_fini().
Move the stub fence assignment to the end of the initialization, right
before the ring is registered with the GPU scheduler, where no further
failure is possible. The stub fence is only consumed by command
submission handling in amdgpu_ids.c once the ring is up and running, so

kfd_dev_mapping caches the address_space of the first /dev/kfd opener
so that the GPU reset path can call unmap_mapping_range() to zap all
userspace mappings of doorbell and MMIO ranges. This design has two
bugs that both manifest under SRIOV with multiple containers:
1. Use-after-free / rwsem deadlock. The cached pointer refers to an
inode owned by the first opener's container. When that container
exits and its inode is released, kfd_dev_mapping becomes a dangling
pointer. A subsequent GPU reset dereferences it inside
unmap_mapping_range(), which takes i_mmap_rwsem on the freed inode,
causing a hard hang observable as an uninterruptible rwsem wait.
2. Multi-container gap. Only the first opener's address_space is cached;
VMAs created by later openers live in a different address_space and
are never reached by unmap_mapping_range(). After a GPU reset those
stale mappings keep doorbell and MMIO pages accessible to guest
userspace with no GPU behind them, risking PCIe transaction timeouts
and NMI panics.
Fix both bugs with the same approach used by DRM core (drm_drv.c):
create a private pseudo-filesystem at module init time and allocate one
anonymous inode from it. In kfd_open() redirect every opener's
file->f_mapping to that inode's address_space. The inode is
module-owned, lives exactly as long as the amdgpu module, and collects
VMAs from all openers in one address_space. A single
unmap_mapping_range() call in the reset path then correctly reaches
every container's mappings with no dangling pointer risk.
The hang manifests as an NMI backtrace on the GPU reset workqueue stuck
spinning in rwsem_down_read_slowpath() with a corrupted i_mmap_rwsem:

Function amdgpu_userq_start_hang_detect_work() calls msecs_to_jiffies()
on adev->gfx_timeout/compute_timeout/sdma_timeout before arming
hang_detect_work. These timeout values already hold jiffies values from
amdgpu_device_get_job_timeout_settings() at device init.
This silently shrinks the real hang-detect deadline to (2 * HZ) ms
instead of the intended timeout. e.g. 500ms instead of the 2000ms
default on a CONFIG_HZ=250 kernel, only coincidentally correct at
HZ=1000. The shortened window is easily exceeded by ordinary
fence-completion latency, causing hang_detect_work to fire and
trigger a per-queue or full GPU reset for queues that are not
actually hung.
Pass the jiffies value directly to queue_delayed_work() instead of

In dm_update_crtc_state(), when a modeset is required the newly created
stream is stored in dm_new_crtc_state->stream and an extra reference is
taken with dc_stream_retain(). The reference returned by
create_validate_stream_for_sink() is released as an extra reference at
the skip_modeset label, leaving the stream owned by the new CRTC state.
If amdgpu_dm_check_crtc_color_mgmt() fails afterwards, the code jumps
to the fail label which releases new_stream again. Since the extra
reference was already released at skip_modeset, this drops the
reference owned by dm_new_crtc_state->stream and the stream is
released while the atomic state still points to it, leading to a
premature free of the dc stream.
Set new_stream to NULL after releasing the extra reference at the

dcn30_apply_idle_power_optimizations() derives the MALL frame cache
hysteresis timer with
tmr_delay = (uint32_t)(div_u64(..., denom) - 64LL);
div_u64() returns a u64, so when the quotient is smaller than 64 the
subtraction wraps instead of going negative and tmr_delay ends up huge.
The loop that follows tries to squeeze it into the 6 bit register field
by doubling denom, but that only makes the quotient smaller, so tmr_delay
can never converge. tmr_scale is bumped past 3 and the function gives up
with
/* Delay exceeds range of hysteresis timer */
ASSERT(false);
even though the requested delay is too *short* to encode, not too long.
With mall_additional_timer_percent left at its default of 0, the quotient
drops below 64 once the refresh rate used for the calculation goes above
~243 Hz. Every DCN 3.0 display above that loses MALL static screen
entirely and splats a WARN once per boot. Reproduced on Navi 23
(RX 6600) driving 1920x1080, resetting /sys/kernel/debug/clear_warn_once
between modes:
refresh MALL ASSERT
144 Hz enabled no
240 Hz enabled no
280 Hz skipped yes
360 Hz skipped yes
Commit 3bb68cec4d ("drm/amd/display: Add Overflow check to skip MALL")
already covered the other end of the range, where a large stutter period
makes the delay too long to encode. Cover the short end by clamping to
0, which selects the shortest hysteresis the register can express,
65.28us * 64 = ~4.18ms. That is marginally longer than what the formula
asks for at these refresh rates, and erring long is the safe direction:
it only delays MALL entry, it can never enter early.
The numerator does not change between iterations, only denom does, so
compute it once and keep both call sites inside 100 columns.
The genuinely out of range case at very low refresh rates still reaches
the ASSERT, which is where it belongs.

amdgpu_amdkfd_clear_kfd_mapping() assumes that a non-NULL kfd_dev
has a fully populated node array. This is not true when KFD device
initialization fails after probe.
For example, kgd2kfd_device_init() sets num_nodes before checking
PCIe atomics support. On Polaris systems without the required atomics,
it returns before allocating nodes[0], but the kfd_dev remains attached
to the amdgpu device. A later GPU reset then dereferences nodes[0]->id.

amdgpu: Move buffer fallback to memcpy unavailable
An importer on a second GPU reaches this holding no runtime PM

need the reference back.
Take it in attach and drop it in detach. pm_runtime_get_if_active()
never resumes the device, so it cannot deadlock against the reservation
taken during resume, which is why the old pm_runtime_get_sync() had to
go. If the device is not active, clear peer2peer instead: the buffer
then stays in GTT, which remains accessible while the GPU is powered
down. If runtime PM is disabled, take a plain reference so the put in
detach stays balanced.

kfd_mqd_manager_v12.c (GFX 12.0) and kfd_mqd_manager_v12_1.c (GFX 12.1)
do not implement restore_mqd callbacks, leaving the function pointers
NULL and causing CRIU restore to return -EOPNOTSUPP on GFX12.
Implement restore_mqd for both compute and SDMA queues in
kfd_mqd_manager_v12.c and kfd_mqd_manager_v12_1.c, modeled after the
GFX 11 implementation with the following improvements:
- update cp_mqd_base_addr_lo/hi to the newly allocated MQD address,
fixing a pre-existing gap shared with v11 where the in-MQD copy
still pointed at the old checkpoint-time address after restore
- memset the full allocation before memcpy for compute queues to avoid
stale data in the GTT sub-allocator tail; SDMA MQDs use sizeof(*m)
since they are packed at mqd_size stride in a shared BO
checkpoint_mqd registration is deferred to a follow-up patch that also
implements get_checkpoint_info, so that checkpoint and restore are
enabled together as a complete and testable unit.
Note: GFX12.1 restore handles XCC0 only. Multi-XCC CRIU restore is
currently unreachable due to a separate validation issue in
kfd_criu_restore_queue(). A pr_warn_once() is emitted if a multi-XCC
device is encountered.

[Why]
The OTG_GLOBAL_SYNC_STATUS register controls various HW IRQ sources for
the output timing generator (OTG). VUPDATE_NO_LOCK is one of them.
To enable the IRQ, driver sets the VUPDATE_NO_LOCK_EN bit in the
GLOBAL_SYNC_STATUS register.
To ack the IRQ after it fires, the driver sets the VUPDATE_NO_LOCK_CLEAR
bit in the same GLOBAL_SYNC_STATUS register.
The bit sets are done through read/modify/write operations, which are
not atomic. Thus, the following race is possible:
Thread A: IRQ handler:
*HW IRQ fires*
# IRQ disable
val = read(GLOBAL_SYNC_STATUS)
unset(val, VUPDATE_NO_LOCK_EN)
write(val, GLOBAL_SYNC_STATUS)
# ACK reads VUPDATE_NO_LOCK_EN unset
val1 = read(GLOBAL_SYNC_STATUS)
set(val1, VUPDATE_NO_LOCK_CLEAR)
# IRQ enable
val = read(GLOBAL_SYNC_STATUS)
set(val, VUPDATE_NO_LOCK_EN)
write(val, GLOBAL_SYNC_STATUS)
# BAD! clears VUPDATE_NO_LOCK_EN
write(val1, GLOBAL_SYNC_STATUS)
Regarding the tagged Fixes: change, it appears the change made this race
more likely to occur. Since VUPDATE_NO_LOCK is now the sole IRQ source
for vblank handling, a single race on high refresh panels can lead to a
time out.
[How]
The GLOBAL_SYNC_STATUS register is only one example, other IRQ control
registers also share the same scheme. On top of GLOBAL_SYNC_STATUS,
let's clean up those as well.
To keep things simple, Let's atomize the IRQ rmw ops via a single
driver-wide spinlock. Due to the small scope of this lock, it is
unlikely to cause noticeable overhead on top of all the existing locking
within the IRQ set/handle paths.
Since DM is responsible for locking, wrap dc_interrupt_set/ack with the
spinlock in the new amdgpu_dm_irq_set/ack functions. Migrate/drop all
references in DM to dc_interrupt_set/ack to use amdgpu_dm_irq_set/ack
instead.

resource_build_info_frame() derives colorimetry and RGB quantization from
stream->output_color_space. A Broadcast RGB-only atomic commit updates
that field and reprograms the output CSC, but none of the InfoFrame update
predicates include output_color_space. The sink can therefore retain the
previous AVI InfoFrame range while the source starts transmitting a
different pixel range.
Treat an output color space change as an InfoFrame change in update
classification and in both stream programming paths.

[Why & How]
The HDMI Forum VSDB reports the maximum DSC color depth a sink supports.
This maximum is cumulative: a sink that reports 12 bpc also supports 10
and 8 bpc.
The previous code used exact "== 10" and "== 12" comparisons chained with
else-if, so a 12 bpc sink only set frl_dsc_12bpc and never set
frl_dsc_10bpc, incorrectly narrowing the DSC bpc range usable with that
sink.
Use ">= 10" and a separate ">= 12" check so a sink advertising a higher
maximum also enables the lower DSC bit depths it supports.

[Why & How]
On resume, dm_resume() walks the connector list and, for each connector,
calls dc_link_detect_connection_type() at the top of the loop iteration
before the per-connector dc_exit_ips_for_hw_access() that sits in the
detection branch. There is no dc_exit_ips_for_hw_access() before the loop,
so the very first HW access relies on an earlier connector having already
taken the display out of IPS.
Commit d1d51519bc ("drm/amd/display: Skip eDP detection when no sink")
skips the eDP connector when no panel is present. On a DCN3.5 APU whose
eDP link has no sink, the eDP iteration - which used to bring the HW out
of IPS first - is now skipped, so a downstream DP connector becomes the
first one processed. Its initial DDC/AUX access then runs while the HW is
still idle, the AUX transfers time out (-ETIMEDOUT), and the EDID read
fails:
[drm:dm_helpers_read_local_edid [amdgpu]] *ERROR* EDID err: 2, on connector: DP-1
amdgpu: [drm] *ERROR* No EDID read.
Take the display out of IPS once before the detection loop so the first
connector processed no longer touches the AUX/DDC engine while the HW is
still in idle power state. This keeps the eDP-skip boot/resume
optimization while fixing the DP EDID read failure.

[Why]
dp_link_settings_read() passed strlen() of each format string as the size
argument to snprintf() and then advanced rd_buf_ptr by that same fixed amount.
The format-string length has no relation to the formatted output length, so
snprintf() truncated each field at a NUL it wrote inside the buffer while the
pointer was advanced past it. The result is a buffer peppered with embedded NUL
bytes and fields that are silently cut short, so the data read back from the
debugfs node does not reflect the actual link settings.
[How]
Use scnprintf() with the real remaining buffer size
(rd_buf_size - (rd_buf_ptr - rd_buf)) and advance rd_buf_ptr by its return
value, which is the number of characters actually written. This both bounds
each write to the space left in rd_buf and keeps the output a single,
properly terminated string. The now-unused str_len local is removed.

[WHY]
resource_can_pipe_disable_cursor() disables the hardware cursor on a
pipe when a higher layer fully covers that pipe's recout, to avoid
double-cursor and scaling artifacts.
When merging pipe-split halves of the same overlay layer, the inner
loop walks every pipe above the current one and looks for siblings
sharing test_pipe's layer_index. Because test_pipe itself satisfies
that condition, it can be treated as its own split partner. That
incorrectly doubles r2.width and makes the covering check succeed even
when the overlay does not fully contain the underlying pipe.
On horizontally split or multi-quadrant layouts this causes the cursor
to disappear over overlay regions while input/coordinate mapping remains
correct.
[HOW]
Skip test_pipe when searching for a pipe-split sibling on the same
layer, so only the other half of the split plane is merged into r2.

Reading /sys/kernel/debug/kfd/mqds while a process holds an active KFD
queue triggers a NULL pointer dereference because the for loop that
calls mqd_mgr->debugfs_show_mqd() is incorrectly placed outside the
if (pqn->q) block that initializes mqd_mgr.
The queue list can contain entries where pqn->q is NULL (kernel queues
where only pqn->kq is valid). In the original code:
if (pqn->q) {

mqd_mgr = q->device->dqm->mqd_mgrs[mqd_type];
size = mqd_mgr->mqd_stride(...);
}
for (xcc = 0; xcc < num_xccs; xcc++) { // WRONG: outside if block
mqd = q->mqd + size * xcc;
r = mqd_mgr->debugfs_show_mqd(m, mqd);
}
When iterating over a queue node where pqn->q is NULL:
1. The if (pqn->q) block is skipped
2. mqd_mgr remains uninitialized (NULL from declaration)
3. The for loop executes anyway
4. mqd_mgr->debugfs_show_mqd(m, mqd) dereferences NULL

get_estimated_bw() divides by link->dpia_bw_alloc_config.bw_granularity,
which is zeroed by reset_bw_alloc_struct() and only populated once
DP_TUNNELING_BW_ALLOC_CAP_CHANGED has been handled.
link_dp_dpia_handle_bw_alloc_status(), the DPCD interrupt handler,
calls get_estimated_bw() whenever DP_TUNNELING_ESTIMATED_BW_CHANGED
is set, independently of whether DP_TUNNELING_BW_ALLOC_CAP_CHANGED
has ever fired for that link. A connected USB4/DPIA tunneling device
that reports an estimated-bandwidth change before ever reporting a
capability change drives a division by zero in this IRQ path.
link_dpia_send_bw_alloc_request() already guards the same
bw_granularity division; add the identical guard here rather than
introducing a new pattern.

In encode-to-linear conversions, LUT entries should be uniformly
distributed across the input range: non-linear encodings are already
approximately perceptually uniform, so every input code carries the same
weight. A fixed count per region does the opposite, concentrating
entries on the darker values and leaving few for the bright end, whereas
halving distribution spaces all 256 entries uniformly. This holds for
any encoded input, so remove the PQ/sRGB condition from commit
"drm/amd/display: use halving distribution for PQ/sRGB linearizing LUT"
and apply halving to all encode-to-linear operations
(pre-defined TF or user LUTs).
It fixes the following IGT kms_colorop subtests:
- plane-XR30-XR30-srgb_inv_eotf_lut-srgb_eotf_lut
- plane-XR30-XR30-gamma_2_2-gamma_2_2_inv-gamma_2_2

amdgpu_debugfs_vm_bo_status_info() prints the "Idle BOs" section by
iterating lists->needs_update, the same list already printed just
above under "Moved BOs". struct amdgpu_vm_bo_status has a dedicated
idle list, populated whenever a BO's state machine settles, but it
was never read here, so genuinely idle BOs never show up in the
debugfs output and the "Idle BOs" section duplicates "Moved BOs"

MES (Micro Engine Scheduler) does not perform heavy-weight TLB
invalidation after unmapping queues, unlike HWS which does this
automatically. This causes a race condition where in-flight DMA
descriptors can access memory that has been unmapped, leading to page
faults and GPU queue hangs during SVM page migration.
The issue manifests as KFDSVMRangeTest.MultiThreadMigrationTest
failures on gfx1151 (Strix Point) with XNACK mode 1 enabled - the GPU
compute queue hangs with packets submitted but never consumed.
Add kfd_flush_tlb() calls after MES queue removal in two locations:
- evict_process_queues_cpsch(): after all queues removed during eviction
- suspend_queues(): after debug/criu queue suspension (with mem_fence barrier)
This ensures all in-flight memory accesses from unmapped queues are
flushed before memory is freed or migrated.

DCE can support PREMULTI and COVERAGE blend mode depending on its
generation, however current driver implementation either doesn't expose
more than primary and cursor plane, or doesn't program registers for any
blend mode other than PIXEL_NONE. To fix the missing-blend-mode-prop
warning according to current DCE plane caps, create blend mode property
with PIXEL_NONE and PREMULTI for primary planes. As long as the
background is black and there is no overlay plane, PIXEL_NONE and
PREMULTI are equivalent, and PREMULTI has been the mandatory/default
mode for years, so keep it to avoid regressions.

validate_blend_mode_for_alpha_formats() warns when a plane supports
formats with alpha but doesn't expose the blend mode property. Fix this
by adding the same overlay plane blend modes to primary plane, since
they are all universal planes in DCN-generation. Cursor planes support
ARGB8888 format and CURSOR_MODE_COLOR_PRE_MULTIPLIED_ALPHA is set by
default (other color formats are not implemented), so only expose
support to PREMULTI, which is the default blend mode on DRM.

Summary of patch series in this merge:
- "mm/rmap: index MAP_PRIVATE file-backed folios by anonymous pgoff"
(Lorenzo Stoakes):
Index MAP_PRIVATE file-backed folios by their anonymous page offset to
resolve confusion around reverse mapping for zeroed and CoW'd
file-backed memory.
Use this new VMA anonymous page offset tracking to eliminate index
conflicts and lay the foundation for scalable CoW performance
improvements.
- "promote mapped executable folios after first usage for MGLRU" (Baolin
Wang):
Make MGLRU's protection of mapped executable file folios more
reliable. Follow the classical LRU's logic, promoting mapped executable
file folios after their first usage to give executable code a better
chance to stay in memory and improve workload performance.
- "mm: vmscan: fix node reclaim ignoring swappiness parameter" (Ridong Chen):
Fix per-node proactive reclaim interface's ignoring the swappiness
parameter when CONFIG_MEMCG is disabled by consolidating sc_swappiness()
into a single function that checks proactive_swappiness regardless of
kernel configuration.
- "mm/vmscan: reduce lru_lock contention via vmstat-derived scan-balance
cost" (Usama Arif):
Reduce lru_lock contention in the reclaim path by deriving
scan-balance costs from vmstat counters rather than lock-acquired
producer updates.
Read and decay these cost signals on the reclaim side under a
dedicated per-lruvec lock, reducing total LRU lock wait time by over 60%
without impacting scan throughput.
- "zram: fix zram issues reported by sashiko" (Sergey Senozhatsky):
Fix two low-risk zram bugs which Sashiko spotted in drive-by review.
- "Honor XA_FLAGS_ACCOUNT in xas_split_alloc() and charge to folio's
memcg" (Zi Yan):
Fix xas_split_alloc() by enabling target folio memcg charging during
splits and adding the missing __GFP_ACCOUNT flag for proper XArray node
memory accounting.
- "selftests/mm: use pattern matching in .gitignore" (Pratyush Mallick):
Replace hardcoded binary names in selftests/mm/.gitignore with a
generic pattern-matching rule to automatically ignore generated test
files and avoid manual updates when adding new tests.
- "mm/page_ext: remove pgdat_page_ext_init()" (Sang-Heon Jeon):
Make the incompatibility between FLATMEM and NUMA explicit in
mm/Kconfig and remove the unused pgdat_page_ext_init() function.
- "zram: fix zstd error paths and add parameter validation" (Haoqin Huang):
Clean up zram compression backends by removing redundant error
cleanup, adding parameter and dictionary validation, auto-prefixing
algorithm error logs, and resetting parameters prior to
reinitialization.
- "zram: fix stale scan bounds after reinitialization" (Longlong Xia):
Prevent out-of-bounds slot accesses during concurrent zram resets by
moving table scan bound calculations under dev_lock in writeback_store()
and read_block_state().
- "add anon mTHP collapse test cases" (Baolin Wang):
Extend selftests helper functions to support arbitrary page orders and
add new test cases and options for mTHP collapse in khugepaged.
- "selftests/mm: Handle unsupported and transient test conditions"
(Muhammad Usama Anjum):
Update MM selftests to report a SKIP status instead of a failure when
required kernel or filesystem features are unsupported, while adding
retry logic for transient page migration errors.
- "mm/zswap: Fixes and improves the zswap shrink" (Hao Jia):
Fix the missing zswap global shrinker when CONFIG_MEMCG is disabled
and extend shrink_memcg() to support batch writeback for improved
writeback efficiency.
- "alloc_tag: introduce IOCTL-based filtering for MAP" (Suren Baghdasaryan):
Introduce an IOCTL-based binary interface for memory allocation
profiling that enables kernel-side filtering before per-CPU counter
aggregation.
This eliminates the text-parsing overhead of /proc/allocinfo and
provides up to a 20x speedup by transferring only filtered allocation
data to userspace.
- "better block swap batching and a different take on swap_ops v5"
(Christoph Hellwig):
Refactor block swap I/O to use swap_iocb for batching instead of
single-bio requests and rebase the swap_ops interface, achieving faster
swap throughput during kernel builds.
- "mm: kmemleak: reduce transient false positives by confirming leaks"
(Catalin Marinas):
Reduce false-positive kmemleak reports by combining two kmemleak
enhancements that add a second confirmation scan and a configurable
minimum unreferenced scan count module parameter.
- "mm: kmemleak: default min_unref_scans to 2 for verbose kernels"
(Breno Leitao):
Auto-scanning kernels can generate false-positive memory leak reports
on single scans, so this patch defaults min_unref_scans to 2 when
CONFIG_DEBUG_KMEMLEAK_VERBOSE is enabled to require a second confirming
scan.
- "swap_ops updates" (Christoph Hellwig):
Batching I/O for synchronous swap devices causes performance
regressions and filesystem-based swap suffers from double-indirection
overhead. This series resolves both issues by reintroducing per-folio
writes for synchronous swap and allowing filesystems to directly export
their own swap_ops.
- "mm/khugepaged: several cleanups" (Nico Pache):
khugepaged accumulated redundant state-checking patterns and outdated
comments following mTHP integration. Introduce dedicated helpers for
PTE validation and event counting while refreshing the internal
documentation.
- "maple_tree: lock checking and clean ups" (Liam Howlett):
Syzbot reports incorrectly blame memory management exit paths for
locking bugs, maple tree erase operations risk allocation failures
without gfp flags and internal documentation lacks clarity.
Improve lock error detection, update docs, fix race and allocation
edge cases and optimize erase allocations using a fallback to GFP_KERNEL
| GFP_NOFAIL.

memcg" (Zi Yan)
Fix xas_split_alloc() by enabling target folio memcg charging during
splits and adding the missing __GFP_ACCOUNT flag for proper XArray
node memory accounting.
- "selftests/mm: use pattern matching in .gitignore" (Pratyush Mallick)
Replace hardcoded binary names in selftests/mm/.gitignore with a
generic pattern-matching rule to automatically ignore generated test
files and avoid manual updates when adding new tests.
- "mm/page_ext: remove pgdat_page_ext_init()" (Sang-Heon Jeon)
Make the incompatibility between FLATMEM and NUMA explicit in
mm/Kconfig and remove the unused pgdat_page_ext_init() function.
- "zram: fix zstd error paths and add parameter validation" (Haoqin
Huang)
Clean up zram compression backends by removing redundant error
cleanup, adding parameter and dictionary validation, auto-prefixing
algorithm error logs, and resetting parameters prior to
reinitialization.
- "zram: fix stale scan bounds after reinitialization" (Longlong Xia)
Prevent out-of-bounds slot accesses during concurrent zram resets by
moving table scan bound calculations under dev_lock in
writeback_store() and read_block_state().
- "add anon mTHP collapse test cases" (Baolin Wang)
Extend selftests helper functions to support arbitrary page orders
and add new test cases and options for mTHP collapse in khugepaged.
- "selftests/mm: Handle unsupported and transient test conditions"
(Muhammad Usama Anjum)
Update MM selftests to report a SKIP status instead of a failure when
required kernel or filesystem features are unsupported, while adding
retry logic for transient page migration errors.
- "mm/zswap: Fixes and improves the zswap shrink" (Hao Jia)
Fix the missing zswap global shrinker when CONFIG_MEMCG is disabled
and extend shrink_memcg() to support batch writeback for improved
writeback efficiency.
- "alloc_tag: introduce IOCTL-based filtering for MAP" (Suren
Baghdasaryan)
Introduce an IOCTL-based binary interface for memory allocation
profiling that enables kernel-side filtering before per-CPU counter
aggregation.
This eliminates the text-parsing overhead of /proc/allocinfo and
provides up to a 20x speedup by transferring only filtered allocation
data to userspace.
- "better block swap batching and a different take on swap_ops v5"
(Christoph Hellwig)
Refactor block swap I/O to use swap_iocb for batching instead of
single-bio requests and rebase the swap_ops interface, achieving
faster swap throughput during kernel builds.
- "mm: kmemleak: reduce transient false positives by confirming leaks"
(Catalin Marinas)
Reduce false-positive kmemleak reports by combining two kmemleak
enhancements that add a second confirmation scan and a configurable
minimum unreferenced scan count module parameter.
- "mm: kmemleak: default min_unref_scans to 2 for verbose kernels"
(Breno Leitao)
Auto-scanning kernels can generate false-positive memory leak reports
on single scans, so this patch defaults min_unref_scans to 2 when
CONFIG_DEBUG_KMEMLEAK_VERBOSE is enabled to require a second
confirming scan.
- "swap_ops updates" (Christoph Hellwig)
Batching I/O for synchronous swap devices causes performance
regressions and filesystem-based swap suffers from double-indirection
overhead. This series resolves both issues by reintroducing per-folio
writes for synchronous swap and allowing filesystems to directly
export their own swap_ops.
- "mm/khugepaged: several cleanups" (Nico Pache)
khugepaged accumulated redundant state-checking patterns and outdated
comments following mTHP integration. Introduce dedicated helpers for
PTE validation and event counting while refreshing the internal
documentation.
- "maple_tree: lock checking and clean ups" (Liam Howlett)
Syzbot reports incorrectly blame memory management exit paths for
locking bugs, maple tree erase operations risk allocation failures
without gfp flags and internal documentation lacks clarity.
Improve lock error detection, update docs, fix race and allocation
edge cases and optimize erase allocations using a fallback to
GFP_KERNEL | GFP_NOFAIL.

On GPU reset, dm_suspend() takes dc_lock and leaves it for dm_resume()
to drop. If amdgpu_dm_commit_zero_streams() or dm_dmub_hw_init() fails,
the function returns with the lock still held. The matching resume path
is then skipped, so every later dc_lock take hangs.
Release the cached DC state and unlock before returning the error.

Inside dcn6_calculate_flip_schedule(), GPUVMEnable is already checked in
the outer if block. But the same GPUVMEnable is checked again in two
inner if blocks inside it. Since GPUVMEnable is always true at that
point, the inner else branches that assign meta_row_height are never
reached.
Remove the redundant inner GPUVMEnable checks and directly assign
dpte_row_height, which is always the correct value here.

Both create_queue_cpsch() and create_queue_nocpsch() unconditionally
call mqd_mgr->restore_mqd() when a CRIU restore is in progress
(qd != NULL), with no NULL guard. On any system where restore_mqd is
not implemented for the given queue type, a user holding
CAP_CHECKPOINT_RESTORE can trigger a kernel NULL pointer dereference
and panic the machine by issuing KFD_IOC_CRIU_OP_RESTORE with a
crafted queue restore object. Note that checkpoint_mqd is likewise
unimplemented on GFX12, so no legitimate CRIU image can reach this
path — only a hand-crafted restore payload.
Add a NULL guard for restore_mqd immediately after mqd_mgr is
resolved, unwinding via the existing error labels and returning
-EOPNOTSUPP if the callback is not implemented. This mirrors the
existing checkpoint_mqd guard in checkpoint_mqd().

After a refactor that landed in Linux 7.0,
DC now crashes when it is initialized on GPUs
that have a VGA or LVDS connector. This is because
these connectors have no HPD so the hpd_gpio is NULL
and therefore DC takes the code path meant for
DCN 4.2+ which sets irq_source_hpd = 255 that
causes the subsequent code to try to register
the HPD interrupt, which fails, and causes
a crash.
This commit should be backported to Linux 7.0 and newer.

adev->isolation[] has one slot per partition, but a ring that is not
assigned to one keeps AMDGPU_XCP_NO_PARTITION, which is ~0, so indexing

KFD_IOC_ALLOC_MEMORY_OF_GPU with flag
KFD_IOC_ALLOC_MEM_FLAGS_AQL_QUEUE_MEM and size=1 triggers the AQL

zero passes through PAGE_ALIGN(0) = 0 without validation, bypassing the
per-process VRAM quota check in reserve_mem_limit()
(vram_used + 0 > vram_available is always false).
The fix adds post-halving zero-size validation in the primary

error path to properly clean up the allocated kgd_mem structure and

All remaining callers of is_cow_mapping() are invoking it in the form of
is_cow_mapping(vma->vm_flags) or an indirected version of this.
Therefore, provide a helper - vma_is_cow_mapping() to directly test the
VMA.
Additionally provide a new helper vma_flags_is_cow_mapping() which
performs the check using the new vma_flags_t type, and share this logic
between vma_is_cow_mapping() and vma_desc_is_cow_mapping().
With these changes, no callers of is_cow_mapping() remain, so remove it.
Also update the userland VMA tests to reflect the change.

Unlike the CRTC degamma path, which is guarded by
amdgpu_dm_verify_lut_sizes(), the per-plane degamma LUT size was never
validated before use. __set_dm_plane_degamma() passed the user-supplied
size straight into __is_lut_linear() and, for a non-linear LUT, into
__set_input_tf() -> __drm_lut_to_dc_gamma(), the latter always iterating
MAX_COLOR_LUT_ENTRIES entries regardless of the actual LUT size.
A malformed AMD_PLANE_DEGAMMA_LUT blob (e.g. a single entry) could thus
trigger a divide-by-zero in __is_lut_linear() or an out-of-bounds read in
__drm_lut_to_dc_gamma(). Reject any plane degamma LUT whose size does not
match MAX_COLOR_LUT_ENTRIES, mirroring the invariant the code already
asserts a few lines below (and which the CRTC path enforces).
The AMD_PLANE_DEGAMMA_LUT property is only exposed on builds with
AMD_PRIVATE_COLOR defined.

If the supplied msg[2] (num_buffers) is 0x3FFFFFFF, the expression
6 + num_buffers * 4 wraps to 2 and the bounds check passes, letting
the parser loop far past the end of the message BO. Triggering it
additionally requires a ~4GiB mapping so that msg[1] survives the
earlier "header does not fit in BO" check.
Rewrite the test in division form, which is overflow-free by
construction. Also update the message to reflect that msg is invalid.

When a queue is hung, the hang_detect_work is the
only way to recover it. However in amdgpu_userq_destroy(),
the hang_detect_work is cancelled too early,
resulting in amdgpu_userq_wait_for_last_fence()
may never return, leaving an uninterruptible dma_fence_wait()
hang there.
To fix this problem, this commit moves the cancelling of
hang_detect_work after amdgpu_userq_wait_for_last_fence(), and it has
to be before the unmap helper, because hang_detect_work resets the
queue, so it races with amdgpu_userq_unmap_helper() for MES operations
and queue state.
This commit splits amdgpu_userq_cleanup() into two parts:
1) amdgpu_userq_detach_doorbell(), which detaches the queue from
userq_doorbell_xa. This has to be called before the cancel, otherwise
the IRQ handlers (for example amdgpu_userq_process_fence_irq)
can re-schedule the hang_detect_work and the cancel is not final.
2) amdgpu_userq_fence_driver_free(), this has to be called after the
unmap helper, because it can release the seq64 slot that the GPU
writes fence values to.
Only one cancel_delayed_work_sync(&queue->hang_detect_work) is needed,
so other redundancies are removed.

When amdgpu_init_minimal_xgmi is used, SDMA engines init
is delayed so amdgpu_ttm_enable_buffer_funcs must be
called later.
Without this, the check for num_buffer_funcs_scheds will
fail and using ttm buffer funcs later will fail.
Given that amdgpu_ttm_enable_buffer_funcs is a no-op if
amdgpu_in_reset() returns true, the call has to occur
after the reset lock is dropped.

Introduce a helper to consolidate the vga_switcheroo registration condition
used by the init and fini paths.
Keep the explicit pci_is_thunderbolt_attached() check, as dev_is_removable()
does not provide equivalent coverage for Thunderbolt-attached GPUs.
This ensures such devices remain excluded from switcheroo registration while
preserving the existing PX and Apple gmux handling.

Like the MES scheduler ring, the KIQ ring sets no_scheduler = true and uses a
polling fence, so it is skipped by the force-completion loop in
amdgpu_device_pre_asic_reset(). Its hw fence value lives in wb (GTT) memory and
survives a MODE1 reset while fence_drv.sync_seq keeps advancing, so after a
reset the first KIQ submission can poll forever on a seq that is never written
back.
Force complete the KIQ ring fences too so their hw fence is realigned to
sync_seq.

Wptr and rptr are very likely not to be page aligned,
when validating rptr and wptr, if they are located in the last

The MES scheduler ring has no drm scheduler (no_scheduler = true), so it is
skipped by the force-completion loop in amdgpu_device_pre_asic_reset(). It uses
a polling fence whose hw value lives in wb (GTT) memory and survives a MODE1
reset, while fence_drv.sync_seq keeps advancing for every packet.
When the reset is triggered because MES itself stopped responding, the
timed-out packets advance sync_seq past the last hw fence value MES wrote.
After resume the first MES submission polls forever on a seq that is never
written back, failing the resume and wedging the box on a second reset:
amdgpu: MES ring buffer is full.
amdgpu: *ERROR* ring gfx_0.0.0 test failed (-110)
amdgpu: resume of IP block <gfx_v11_0> failed -110
amdgpu: GPU reset end with ret = -110
Force complete the MES scheduler ring fences together with the scheduler rings
so their hw fence is realigned to sync_seq.
v2: cover all XCCs (one scheduler ring each), not just mes.ring[0].

Custom brightness curves use an 8-bit input signal. After exporting the
full PWM range to userspace, the curve normalizer still divides requests
by the physical PWM span. On panels with a nonzero minimum PWM level,
this can produce a curve input greater than 255 and send an invalid
backlight level to DC.
Scale the userspace [0..max] range to the curve's [0..255] range
instead. This retains the full advertised range and keeps the reverse
readback conversion unchanged.

amdgpu_userq_wait_return_fence_info() calls drm_exec_init() without
DRM_EXEC_IGNORE_DUPLICATES. When the same GEM object appears more than
once across the read/write BO handle lists submitted by userspace,
drm_exec_lock_obj() returns -EALREADY the second time it locks that
object, which aborts the fence resolution pass instead of treating the
repeat as a no-op.
Add DRM_EXEC_IGNORE_DUPLICATES so duplicate objects are silently
skipped on the second lock attempt.
