qcom_spi_ecc_init_ctx_pipelined() allocates qspi->oob_buf as part of the
pipelined ECC context setup. The buffer is then used by the raw and ECC
page I/O paths through the NAND ECC context.
The matching cleanup callback only frees the qpic_ecc structure, and the
init error path also skips the OOB buffer after it has been allocated.
Free qspi->oob_buf on both paths and clear the pointer so the ECC context

Even with proper dma engine support, the first spi transfer always
fallback to PIO, the reason is the dws->n_bytes is 0 after
initialization, so the dw_spi_can_dma() calling from __spi_map_msg()
return false, thus both tx_sg_mapped and rx_sg_mapped are false, so
for the first spi transfer, the spi_xfer_is_dma_mapped() reports false
thus fallback to PIO.
Although this brings no harm, we can simply fix this issue by
calcuating the "n_bytes" from xfer->bits_per_word.

When an SPI controller operating in target mode has a transfer in
progress at the time of system suspend, the suspend path proceeds
without aborting the ongoing transfer. This can leave the hardware in
an inconsistent state, potentially causing the system to hang or fail
to resume cleanly.
Fix this by invoking the controller's target_abort callback from
spi_controller_suspend() when the controller is in target mode and the
callback is registered. This ensures any active target transfer is
cleanly terminated before the controller is suspended.

When spi_imx_can_dma() selects DMA, the ECSPI is configured for DMA:
spi_imx_setupxfer() sets CTRL.SMC and clears dynamic_burst, and
spi_imx_dma_transfer() programs the dynamic-burst BURST_LENGTH and the
SDMA watermarks.
If the DMA descriptor cannot be prepared (dmaengine_prep_slave_single()
returns NULL), the transfer is failed with SPI_TRANS_FAIL_NO_START and
falls back to PIO. The dynamic-burst DMA path uses its own bounce
buffers instead of the SPI core's mapping, so xfer->{tx,rx}_sg_mapped
are not set and the core's DMA->PIO retry is skipped; the driver falls
back to PIO internally. But none of the DMA-mode configuration is
undone, so the PIO transfer runs with CTRL.SMC set, the wrong burst
length and dynamic_burst cleared, and the transferred data is corrupted.
This is easily hit on i.MX8MP boards that describe ECSPI DMA in the
device tree but run SDMA on ROM firmware (no external sdma-imx7d.bin):
every ECSPI DMA prepare fails. An Infineon SLB9670 TPM on ECSPI1 then
returns shifted TPM2_GetCapability data, is flagged "field failure
mode", /dev/tpmrm0 is never created.
Set controller->fallback before re-running spi_imx_setupxfer() so the
ECSPI is reconfigured exactly like a normal PIO transfer. With
controller->fallback set, spi_imx_setupxfer() sees spi_imx_can_dma()
return false, so it clears spi_imx->usedma and reprograms the controller
(clears CTRL.SMC, restores dynamic_burst and the PIO burst length). No
explicit spi_imx->usedma = false is needed: setupxfer() already updates
it from the can_dma() result.

After resuming from suspend to ram, spi transfer stops working. Further
debugging shows that the BAUDR register isn't correctly set, this is
due to dws->current_freq doesn't match the HW BAUDR setting,
specifically, the dws->current_freq equals to speed_hz, but BAUDR is 0.
so the dw_spi_set_clk() in below code won't be called:
if (dws->current_freq != speed_hz) {
dw_spi_set_clk(dws, clk_div);
dws->current_freq = speed_hz;
}
The mismatch comes from dw_spi_shutdown_chip() when suspending.
Fix this mismatch by setting dws->current_freq to 0 as well when
clearing BAUDR reg in dw_spi_shutdown_chip().

The driver calls devm_request_irq() before initializing the completion
used by the interrupt handler. Because the interrupt may occur immediately
after devm_request_irq(), the handler may execute before init_completion().
This may result in calling complete() on an uninitialized completion,
causing undefined behavior. This has been observed with KASAN.
Fix this by initializing the completion before registering the IRQ.

work Johan Hovold has done to modernise resource allocation for the

- Support for spi-mem devices that don't assert chip select and support
for a secondary read command for memory mapped flashes, some commits

- Auxiliary:
- Replace drvdata() with dedicated registration data on

private data beyond the driver's own scope, creating ordering
constraints and forcing the data to outlive all registrations
that access it. Registration data is instead scoped structurally
to the Registration object, making lifecycle ordering enforced
by construction rather than convention.
- Rust-native device driver lifetimes (HRT):
- Allow Rust device drivers to carry a lifetime parameter on their
bus device private data, tied to the device binding scope -- the
interval during which a bus device is bound to a driver. Device
resources like pci::Bar<'a> and IoMem<'a> can be stored directly
in the driver's bus device private data with a lifetime bounded
by the binding scope, so the compiler enforces at build time that
they do not outlive the binding. This removes Devres indirection
from every access site and eliminates try_access() failure paths
in destructors.
Bus driver traits use a Generic Associated Type (GAT)
Data<'bound> to introduce the lifetime on the private data,
rather than parameterizing the Driver trait itself. Auxiliary
registration data, where the lifetime is not introduced by a
trait callback but must be threaded through Registration, uses
the ForLt trait (a type-level abstraction for types generic over
a lifetime).

an overlay is applied to a bound device

- Provide swnode_get()/swnode_put() wrappers around kobject_get/put()
- Allow passing struct software_node_ref_args pointers directly to
PROPERTY_ENTRY_REF()
driver_override:
- Migrate amba, cdx, vmbus, and rpmsg to the generic driver_override
infrastructure, fixing a UAF from unsynchronized access to
driver_override in bus match() callbacks
- Remove the now-unused driver_set_override()
firmware loader:
- Fix recursive lock deadlock in device_cache_fw_images() when async
work falls back to synchronous execution
- Fix device reference leak in firmware_upload_register()
platform:
- Pass KBUILD_MODNAME through the platform driver registration macro
to create module symlinks in sysfs for built-in drivers; move
module_kset initialization to a pure_initcall and tegra cbb
registration to core_initcall to ensure correct ordering
- Pass THIS_MODULE implicitly through a coresight_init_driver() macro
sysfs:
- Upgrade OOB write detection in sysfs_kf_seq_show() from printk to
WARN
- Add return value clamping to sysfs_kf_read()
Rust:
- ACPI:
Fix missing match data for PRP0001 by exporting
acpi_of_match_device()
- Auxiliary:
Replace drvdata() with dedicated registration data on
auxiliary_device. drvdata() exposed the driver's bus device private
data beyond the driver's own scope, creating ordering constraints
and forcing the data to outlive all registrations that access it.
Registration data is instead scoped structurally to the
Registration object, making lifecycle ordering enforced by
construction rather than convention.
- Rust-native device driver lifetimes (HRT):
Allow Rust device drivers to carry a lifetime parameter on their
bus device private data, tied to the device binding scope -- the
interval during which a bus device is bound to a driver. Device
resources like pci::Bar<'a> and IoMem<'a> can be stored directly in
the driver's bus device private data with a lifetime bounded by the
binding scope, so the compiler enforces at build time that they do
not outlive the binding. This removes Devres indirection from every
access site and eliminates try_access() failure paths in
destructors.
Bus driver traits use a Generic Associated Type (GAT) Data<'bound>
to introduce the lifetime on the private data, rather than
parameterizing the Driver trait itself. Auxiliary registration
data, where the lifetime is not introduced by a trait callback but
must be threaded through Registration, uses the ForLt trait (a
type-level abstraction for types generic over a lifetime).
Misc:
- Fix DT overlayed devices not probing by reverting the broken
treewide overlay fix and re-running fw_devlink consumer pickup when
an overlay is applied to a bound device
- Use root_device_register() for faux bus root device; add sanity
check for failed bus init
- Fix dev_has_sync_state() data race with READ_ONCE() and move it to
base.h
- Avoid spurious device_links warning when removing a device while
its supplier is unbinding
- Switch ISA bus to dynamic root device
- Fix suspicious RCU usage in kernfs_put()
- Remove devcoredump exit callback
- Constify devfreq_event_class"

The SPI drivers read properties whose bindings use normal uint32 cells.
Using boolean or u16 helpers makes the access look like a different DT
encoding and causes the property checker to flag the call sites.
Use presence checks for unsupported properties and read numeric cell
properties through u32 helpers before assigning to driver fields.

spi: dw: fix race between IRQ handler and error handler on SMP
spi: qcom-geni: Fix cs_change handling on the last transfer
The method the driver uses to determine the size of the FIFO has a
problem. What it currently does is this:
It stops the SPI hardware and writes to the TX FIFO register until TX
FIFO FULL asserts in the status register. But the hardware does not only
have the FIFO, it also has a shift register which can hold a byte. This
can be seen, when writing a byte to the FIFO (while the SPI hardware is
stopped,) the TX FIFO EMPTY is still empty. So, if we have a FIFO size
of 16 for example, the current method returns a 17.
This is a problem, at least when using the driver in irq mode. The same
size determined for the TX FIFO is also assumed for the RX FIFO. When a
SPI transaction wants to write the amount of the FIFO size or more
bytes, the following happens, for example with 16 bytes FIFO size:
The driver stops the SPI hardware and writes 17 bytes to the TX FIFO and
starts the SPI hardware and goes sleep.
The hardware then shifts out 17 bytes (FIFO + shift register) and
simultaneously reads bytes into the RX FIFO, but it only has 16 places,
so it looses one byte. Then TX FIFO empty asserts, wakes the driver
again, which has a fast path and reads 16 bytes from the RX FIFO, but
before reading the last 17th byte (which is lost) it does this:
sr = xspi->read_fn(xspi->regs + XSPI_SR_OFFSET);
if (!(sr & XSPI_SR_RX_EMPTY_MASK)) {
xilinx_spi_rx(xspi);
rx_words--;
}
It reads the status register and checks if the RX FIFO is not empty.
But it is empty in our case. So this check spins in a while loop
forever locking the driver.
This patch fixes the logic to determine the FIFO size.

In case of failed HW the driver may not see an interrupt and will stuck
in waiting forever. We can avoid such situation by timing out of
transfers if the interrupt is not seen in a reasonable time.
This problem can be found on unload of ptp_ocp driver for TimeCard which
uses Xilinx SPI AXI and SPI-NOR flash memory. During tear-down process
spi-nor drivers send soft reset command which is not triggering an

On SMP systems, dw_spi_handle_err() can be called from the SPI core
kthread while the IRQ handler is still accessing the FIFO on another
CPU. Resetting the chip via dw_spi_reset_chip() during an active FIFO
read/write causes a bus error.
Fix this by calling disable_irq() before the chip reset, which masks
the IRQ and waits for any in-flight handler to complete via
synchronize_irq(). This ensures no handler is accessing the FIFO when
the reset occurs.

TPM TIS SPI probe fails with:
tpm_tis_spi: probe of spi11.0 failed with error -110
TPM TIS SPI sets cs_change=1 on single-transfer messages to keep CS
asserted across the header, wait-state, and data phases of a transaction.
CS deassertion between these phases violates the TCG SPI flow control
specification.
This bug was introduced by commit b99181cdf9 ("spi-geni-qcom: remove
manual CS control"), which replaced manual CS control with automatic CS
control via the FRAGMENTATION bit. The FRAGMENTATION bit controls CS
behavior after a transfer: when set to 1, CS remains asserted; when
cleared to 0, CS is deasserted.
The commit correctly sets FRAGMENTATION for non-last transfers with
cs_change=0 to keep CS asserted between chained transfers, but misses the
case where cs_change=1 is set on the last transfer. When cs_change=1 on
the last transfer, the client requests CS to remain asserted after the
message completes, so FRAGMENTATION must be set to 1 in this case as well.
Fix setup_se_xfer() to set FRAGMENTATION when cs_change=1 on the last
transfer.
Also fix the same missing case in setup_gsi_xfer() and correct it to
write 1 instead of the raw bitmask FRAGMENTATION (value 4) to
peripheral.fragmentation. This field is a 1-bit boolean consumed by
gpi_create_spi_tre() via u32_encode_bits(..., TRE_SPI_GO_FRAG). Writing 4
to a 1-bit field causes u32_encode_bits() to mask it to 0, silently
disabling the FRAGMENTATION bit in the GPI TRE regardless of the
cs_change logic.

While being less compact, using named initializers allows to more easily
see which members of the structs are assigned which value without having
to lookup the declaration of the struct. And it's also more robust
against changes to the struct definition.
The mentioned robustness is relevant for a planned change to struct
i2c_device_id that replaces .driver_data by an anonymous union.
While touching these arrays, drop a comma after the list terminator.
This patch doesn't modify the compiled arrays, only their representation
in source form benefits. The former was confirmed with x86 and arm64
builds.

The SPI controller API is asymmetric in that a controller is allocated
and registered in two step, while it is freed as part of deregistration.
[1]
This is especially unfortunate as any driver data is freed along with
the controller, something which has lead to use-after-free bugs during
deregistration when drivers tear down resources after deregistering the
controller (or tear down resources that may still be in use before
deregistering the controller in an attempt to work around the API).
To reduce the risk of such bugs being introduced a device managed
allocation interface was added, but this arguably made things even less
consistent as now whether the controller gets freed as part of
deregistration depends on how it was allocated. [2][3]
With most drivers converted to use managed allocation in preparation for
fixing the API, the remaining 16 drivers can be converted in one
tree-wide change. Ten of those drivers use the bitbang interface and can
be converted by simply removing the extra reference already taken by
spi_bitbang_start() (and updating the two bitbang drivers that use
managed allocation). [4]
Fix the API inconsistency by no longer dropping a reference when
deregistering non-devres allocated controllers.

The Cadence XSPI driver uses readq() and writeq(), which are not provided
directly by all 32-bit architectures. Include the generic non-atomic 64-bit
I/O accessor fallback for non-64-bit builds so the driver can build there.
Drop the 64BIT dependency at the same time. The driver only needs MMIO
and the SPI memory interface at build time, and the fallback accessors
cover the 32-bit compile-test case.

When the SPI core registers the Kunpeng controller it may need to acquire
chip-select GPIO descriptors. If the GPIO provider has not probed yet,
spi_register_controller() returns -EPROBE_DEFER.
On a Kunpeng system this currently prints an alarming error even though the
next deferred-probe retry succeeds:
hisi-kunpeng-spi HISI03E1:00: failed to register spi host, ret=-517
hisi-kunpeng-spi HISI03E1:00: hw version:0x30 max-freq:12500 kHz

probe mechanism instead of as a hard error, while preserving normal error

On platforms where the HID2 SPI controller (AMDI0063) is enumerated via
ACPI instead of PCI, amd_spi_probe() unconditionally sets bus_num to 0,
while the PCI probe path assigns bus_num 2 for HID2 controller.
Align the ACPI probe path to use the same bus number so that userspace
and SPI client drivers see a consistent bus assignment regardless of the
enumeration method.

aml_spisg_setup_transfer() takes a non-NULL exdesc pointer; the
function dereferences exdesc unconditionally later in the body to
populate the SPI scatter-gather descriptors (tx_ccsg / rx_ccsg).
The sole caller, aml_spisg_transfer_one_message(), always passes a
valid pointer derived from kcalloc().
The "if (exdesc)" guard around the memset() at the start of the
function is therefore dead and misleading -- it suggests callers
may pass NULL when in fact they may not. smatch flags the
inconsistency:
drivers/spi/spi-amlogic-spisg.c:314 aml_spisg_setup_transfer()
error: we previously assumed 'exdesc' could be null (see line 261)
Drop the check; the unconditional memset matches the unconditional
dereferences elsewhere in the function and removes the inconsistency
that smatch reports.

The .driver_data member of the various struct pci_device_id arrays were
initialized by list expressions. This isn't easily readable if you're
not into PCI. Using named initializers is more explicit and thus easier
to parse. Also skip explicit assignments of 0 (which the compiler then
takes care of).
This change doesn't introduce changes to the compiled pci_device_id
arrays. Tested on x86 and arm64.

The core will deal with reads by creating clock cycles itself, there's
no need to generate clock cycles by transmitting garbage data at the
driver level. Further, transmitting garbage data just bricks the transfer
since QSPI doesn't have a dedicated master-out line like MOSI in regular
SPI. I'm not entirely sure if the transfer is bricked because of the
garbage data being transmitted on the bus or because the core loses
track of whether it is supposed to be sending or receiving data.

The coreQSPI IP supports only a single chip select, which is
automagically operated by the hardware - set low when the transmit
buffer first gets written to and set high when the number of bytes
written to the TOTALBYTES field of the FRAMES register have been sent on
the bus. Additional devices must use GPIOs for their chip selects.
It was reported to me that if there are two devices attached to this
QSPI controller that the in-built chip select is set low while linux
tries to access the device attached to the GPIO.
This went undetected as the boards that connected multiple devices to
the SPI controller all exclusively used GPIOs for chip selects, not
relying on the built-in chip select at all. It turns out that this was
because the built-in chip select, when controlled automagically, is set
low when active and high when inactive, thereby ruling out its use for
active-high devices or devices that need to transmit with the chip
select disabled.
Modify the driver so that it controls chip select directly, retaining
the behaviour for mem_ops of setting the chip select active for the
entire duration of the transfer in the exec_op callback. For regular
transfers, implement the set_cs callback for the core to use.
As part of this, the existing setup callback, mchp_coreqspi_setup_op(),
is removed. Modifying the CLKIDLE field is not safe to do during
operation when there are multiple devices, so this code is removed
entirely. Setting the MASTER and ENABLE fields is something that can be
done once at probe, it doesn't need to be re-run for each device.
Instead the new setup callback sets the built-in chip select to its
inactive state for active-low devices, as the reset value of the chip
select in software controlled mode is low.

spi_imx_setupxfer() calls the per-variant prepare_transfer()
callback and returns 0 unconditionally:
spi_imx->devtype_data->prepare_transfer(spi_imx, spi, t);
return 0;
mx51_ecspi_prepare_transfer() can return -EINVAL when the requested
word_delay does not fit in MX51_ECSPI_PERIOD_MASK. The error is
detected after a partial set of register writes (CTRL: BL, clkdiv,
SMC), so the controller is left in a partially-configured state and
the transfer is then submitted as if setup succeeded.
Propagate the return value. The other variants' prepare_transfer
callbacks all return 0, so this is a no-op for them.

When transfer->len exceeds MX51_ECSPI_CTRL_MAX_BURST and is not a
multiple of it, spi_imx_dma_data_prepare() splits the transfer into
two DMA packages. If preparing the second package fails:
ret = spi_imx_dma_tx_data_handle(spi_imx, &spi_imx->dma_data[1],
transfer->tx_buf + spi_imx->dma_data[0].data_len,
false);
if (ret) {

kfree(spi_imx->dma_data[0].dma_rx_buf);
kfree(spi_imx->dma_data);
}
}
return 0;
the function frees the package-0 buffers and the dma_data array,
then falls through to `return 0`, telling the caller the prepare
succeeded. The caller then dereferences the freed dma_data array,
producing a use-after-free.
Return the error from the failure path so the caller takes its

The watermark search in spi_imx_dma_max_wml_find() reads:
if (!dma_data->dma_len % (i * bytes_per_word))
break;
The unary ! binds tighter than %, so this parses as:
if ((!dma_data->dma_len) % (i * bytes_per_word))
break;
!dma_data->dma_len is 0 or 1, and `0 % x == 0` for any x; `1 % x` is
0 unless x == 1. The condition is therefore false in every case
except dma_len != 0 with i * bytes_per_word == 1, i.e. i == 1 and
bytes_per_word == 1.
The loop almost always falls through to its end, leaving i == 0,
which the post-loop fallback rewrites to 1:
if (i == 0)
i = 1;
So spi_imx->wml ends up at 1 for essentially every DMA transfer,
defeating the entire purpose of the function. The DMA engine then
requests service after every single FIFO word instead of using
multi-word bursts, hurting throughput on every DMA-capable variant.
Add the missing parentheses so the modulo is computed first, then
negated:
if (!(dma_data->dma_len % (i * bytes_per_word)))
break;

The runtime PM functions had incomplete error handling that could leave the
system in an inconsistent state. If any operation failed midway through
suspend or resume, some resources would be left in the wrong state while
others were already changed, leading to potential clock/power imbalances.
Reorder the suspend/resume sequences to avoid brownout risk by ensuring the
performance state is set appropriately before clocks are enabled and clocks
are disabled before dropping the performance state.
Fix by adding proper error checking for all operations and using goto-based

In some situations, direct mappings may need to use different
operation templates.
For instance, when enabling continuous reads, Winbond SPI NANDs no
longer expect address cycles because they would be ignoring them
otherwise. Hence, right after the command opcode, they start counting
dummy cycles, followed by the data cycles as usual.
This breaks the assumptions of "reads from cache" always being done
identically once the best variant has been picked up, across the
lifetime of the system.
In order to support this feature, we must give direct mapping more than
a single operation template to use, in order to switch to using
secondary operations upon request by the upper layer.
Create the concept of optional secondary operation template, which may
or may not be fulfilled by the SPI NAND and SPI NOR cores. If the
underlying SPI controller does not leverage any kind of direct mapping
acceleration, the feature has no impact and can be freely
used. Otherwise, the controller driver needs to opt-in for using this
feature, if supported.
The condition checked to know whether a secondary operation has been
provided or not is to look for a non zero opcode to limit the creation
of extra variables. In practice, the opcode 0x00 exist, but is not
related to any cache related operation.

memory direct mappings. With the idea to extend this possibility to 2,
rename the template to reflect that we are currently setting the
"primary" operation, and create a pointer in the same structure to point
to it.
From a user point of view, the op_tmpl name remains but becomes a
pointer, leading to minor changes in both the SPI NAND and SPI NOR
cores.

Make sure that the controller is active before disabling clocks on probe
failure to avoid unbalanced clock disable.
Also drop the usage count before returning (so that the controller can
be suspended after a probe deferral) and restore the autosuspend
setting.

The "clk_dis_all" error label is not used to disable clocks since commit
f64b1600f9 ("spi: spi-cadence: Use helper function
devm_clk_get_enabled()").
Similarly, "remove_ctlr" drops a reference rather than deregisters the
controller.
Rename the labels after what they do.

Two CTRLR0 macros are defined but never referenced, and both are wrong:
- CR0_XFM_MASK shifts by SPI_XFM_OFFSET, which does not exist anywhere
in the tree. The intended symbol is CR0_XFM_OFFSET.
- CR0_MTM_OFFSET is defined as 0x21, i.e. bit 33 of a 32-bit register.
The value is meaningless and the macro is unused.
Drop both. They can be re-introduced correctly when an actual user
appears.

rockchip_spi_isr() decides whether the current interrupt was the
cs-inactive event by reading IMR:
if (rs->cs_inactive &&
readl_relaxed(rs->regs + ROCKCHIP_SPI_IMR) & INT_CS_INACTIVE)
ctlr->target_abort(ctlr);
IMR is the interrupt mask register: it tells which sources are enabled,
not which one fired. In the PIO path, rockchip_spi_prepare_irq() enables
both INT_RF_FULL and INT_CS_INACTIVE in IMR when rs->cs_inactive is true:
if (rs->cs_inactive)
writel_relaxed(INT_RF_FULL | INT_CS_INACTIVE,
rs->regs + ROCKCHIP_SPI_IMR);
so the IMR check is always true once cs_inactive is enabled, and every
PIO interrupt - including normal RF_FULL completions - is dispatched to
ctlr->target_abort(), aborting the transfer. The bug is reachable on
ROCKCHIP_SPI_VER2_TYPE2 in target mode with a DMA-capable controller
when the transfer is short enough to fall back to PIO
(rockchip_spi_can_dma() returns false below fifo_len).
Read ISR (which is RISR masked by IMR) so the check actually reflects
which interrupt fired, and parenthesise the expression for clarity while
at it.

The driver is relying on the assumption that the invalid interrupt 0 can
be freed without any side effects, but that is not the case on
architectures like x86 where it would trigger a warning about freeing an
already free interrupt.
This should not cause any trouble on powerpc where this driver is used,
but make the code more portable (and obviously correct) by making sure
that the interrupts have been requested before freeing them.

rzv2h_rspi_setup_clock() is declared to return u32 but returns -EINVAL
when no valid clock parameters are found. Cast to u32, -EINVAL becomes
0xffffffea, which is a non-zero value. The caller in
rzv2h_rspi_prepare_message() guards against failure with:
rspi->freq = rzv2h_rspi_setup_clock(rspi, speed_hz);
if (!rspi->freq)
return -EINVAL;
Because 0xffffffea is non-zero, the check is bypassed and the controller
proceeds to program SPBR/SPCMD with stale values, leading to an unknown
bit rate.
Return 0 on the failed-search path, consistent with the existing
clk_set_rate() failure path which already returns 0.

This is quite a big set of fixes, almost all from Johan Hovold who is on
an ongoing quest to clean up issues with probe and removal handling in
drivers. There isn't anything too concerning here especially with the
deregistration stuff which will very rarely get run in production
systems since this is all platform devices in the SoC on embedded
hardware, but it's all real issues which should be fixed. There's more
in flight here.
We also have a few other minor fixes, one from Felix Gu along the same
lines as Johan's work and a couple of documentation things.

Make sure that the controller is active before disabling clocks on late
probe failure and on driver unbind to avoid a clock disable imbalance.
Also make sure that the usage count is balanced on probe failure (e.g.
probe deferral) so that the controller can be suspended when a driver is
later bound.
