display code into drm_panic_helper.c. Rename symbols accordingly.
Also update the QR-related code and the bindings accordingly.
Link the rsp. object file into drm_kms_helper.ko. Eventually the code
will become a DRM drawing library, together with DRM's format and draw
helpers. This requires more preparation. until then, KMS helpers serve

Add display_panic_screen to struct drm_plane_funcs. If set on a plane,
register a panic handler for the plane from the DRM core's panic
handling. Invoke this helper from the core to display a panic screen.
The new callback replaces get_scanout_buffer as signal for panic
support in a plane. Using get_scanout_buffer is now merely a detail
of the implementation. This will also free struct drm_scanout_buffer
for use cases besides panic handling.
With display_panic_screen in place, rename draw_panic_plane() to
drm_plane_helper_display_panic_screen() and make it available to DRM
drivers via drm_panic_helper.h. Do not change the implementation or
functionality of this code. drm_plane_helper_display_panic_screen()
still supports kernel messages, user messages and QR codes on various
color formats.
Then update all drivers that implement panic support. Provide the
initializer macro DRM_PANIC_PLANE_FUNCS that sets display_panic_screen
to drm_plane_helper_display_panic_screen(). If panic handling has
been disabled, it instead clears the callback. There's again no change
in functionality.
This logically splits panic handling into a set of entry points in the
DRM code and a set of helper functions provided by drivers. The core
invokes the driver's helper via callback, while the driver can tailor
the implementation to its needs. Panic handling now works like most
other interfaces in the DRM framework.
Locking and state-handling happens in the DRM core or helpers. Drivers
that receive a call to display_panic_screen can assume that no concurrent
modeset takes place on the plane or its CRTC.
Also update the documentation. Move information about locking and state
guarantees from drm_panic_trylock() to display_panic_screen, where
drivers authors can find it easily. Move information about the features
of the current implementation to drm_panic_helper_display_panic_screen().

The CRTC reset hook conflates initial software state allocation with
hardware reset. The atomic_create_state hook addresses the software
state side, but drivers may still need to reset hardware to a known good
state during drm_mode_config_reset(), for example during suspend/resume.
Separating hardware reset from state allocation is also useful for the
pending atomic state readout and userspace atomic reset flag series,
which need to create pristine software state without affecting the
hardware.

A device-private folio migrated to system memory by a CPU fault can
remain reachable through the raw-PFN eviction path until migration
finalization drops the source reference.
If eviction selects the same device-private folio during this window,
it can attempt to migrate the folio again. The second migration can leave
an uncharged folio on an LRU list, causing folio_lruvec_lock_irqsave() to
retry indefinitely and resulting in a soft lockup and RCU stall.
Mark successfully migrated device-private folios using a low bit of
their zone_device_data before migration finalization. Make both CPU-fault
and raw-PFN migration paths skip device-private folios carrying this
flag.
Mask the flag when retrieving the drm_pagemap_zdd pointer and preserve
it when a device-private folio is split. Keeping the state on the physical

Introduce DRM_COLOROP_FIXED_MATRIX, a new colorop type representing a
hardware that performs a fixed matrix operation.
Unlike CTM-based colorops, this block does not expose programmable
coefficients. Instead, userspace selects one of the predefined
hardware modes via a new FIXED_MATRIX_TYPE enum property. Supported modes
include common YCbCr->RGB and RGB709->RGB2020 conversions.
v5:
- Drop YCbCr limited to full and RGB709 to RGB2020 matrices
until we have non-IGT userspace that shows their use (Robert)
v4:
- Add limited-range YCbCr-RGB conversion matrix enums (Robert)
- Document matrix values (Pekka)
- Clarify RGB709 to RGB2020 is a full-range matrix (Pekka)
- Fix confusing "CSC preset" doc (Pekka)
v2:
- Naming changes (Pekka)
v3:
- Fix NC matrix enum name and string (Melissa)
- Rebase

Parse the HDMI 2.1 gaming-related capabilities advertised in the HDMI
Forum VSDB (HF-VSDB) and expose them through struct drm_hdmi_info so
drivers can consume them.
Add struct drm_hdmi_vrr_cap describing the sink's VRR capabilities: Fast
VActive (Quick Frame Transport), Negative M VRR, Cinema VRR, MDelta, and
the VRRmin/VRRmax range, together with a "supported" flag derived from
that range. Add the fapa_start_location and allm (Auto Low Latency Mode)
flags to struct drm_hdmi_info.
drm_parse_hdmi_gaming_info() reads byte 8 of the HF-VSDB for the
FAPA/ALLM/FVA/CNMVRR/CinemaVRR/MDelta flags and bytes 9-10 for
VRRmin/VRRmax. Per HDMI 2.1, VRR is considered supported when VRRmin is
within 1-48 and VRRmax is either 0 (maximum based on the video mode) or
>= 100. It is invoked from drm_parse_hdmi_forum_scds(), and the parsed
values are logged for debugging.

The GEM shadow-plane helpers only expose reset functions
(drm_gem_reset_shadow_plane and __drm_gem_reset_shadow_plane) that
handle both the initial state allocation and the reset path. The new
atomic_create_state hook requires a function that only allocates and
initializes a pristine state without any side effect.
Create __drm_gem_shadow_plane_state_init() to initialize a
pre-allocated shadow plane state, and
drm_gem_create_shadow_plane_state() to allocate and initialize one

The simple-kms helper provides a reset_plane hook to let drivers
override the default plane reset. However, the reset hook is
overloaded: it is used to create the initial software state at probe
time, but also to reset both the hardware and software state during
suspend/resume. These two roles have different expectations, and
reset is not fallible which makes error handling difficult.
The atomic_create_state pattern was introduced to untangle this by
providing a hook that only allocates and initializes a pristine state
without any side effect.
Add a create_plane_state hook to struct
drm_simple_display_pipe_funcs. When provided,
drm_simple_kms_plane_reset() will use it to allocate a fresh state,
falling back to reset_plane and then to the default
drm_atomic_helper_plane_reset().
This will allow simple-kms drivers to be converted to the
atomic_create_state pattern.

The HDMI debugfs files are only useful for connectors that already make
use of the HDMI state helpers. In addition, relying on HDMI-specific
functions in drm_debugfs.c can lead to circular linking problems later
down the line.
Move hdmi_debugfs_add() and friends to a new helper in
drm_hdmi_state_helper.c, and make all current users (vc4, sun4i, bridge)
either use it as a debugfs_init func, or call it directly in its

drm_scdc_helper (although exported), use a ssize_t as their return type.
This would make sense if they returned the number of bytes read/written

Demote them to "int" as their return type, in order to avoid needlessly
using 64 bits when less suffices.

Commit 118362a962 ("drm/edid: Parse AMD Vendor-Specific Data Block")
added parsing of the AMD VSDB, but only for version 3 and only for the
replay/panel-type/luminance fields. Monitors that only advertise
FreeSync through a v1 or v2 AMD VSDB therefore get no variable refresh
rate range from the common EDID parser.
Restructure drm_parse_amd_vsdb() and implement parsing for the FreeSync
refresh range fields provided in the AMD VSDB. Additionally, version > 3
will be parsed as if they were version 3 (with a warning of this
occurring) as future versions will likely be backwards compatible.

Add ttm_bo_evict_cgroup() to evict buffer objects charged to a specific
dmem cgroup pool from a resource manager's LRU until a byte target is
met. Add ttm_resource_manager_set_dmem_region() to associate a dmem
cgroup region with a resource manager; drivers supply their own
dmem_cgroup_ops with ttm_resource_manager_dmem_reclaim as the reclaim
function and the manager pointer as reclaim_priv in the dmem_cgroup_init
to wire up TTM eviction as the reclaim callback.
The eviction context is interruptible; signals abort the operation and
propagate back through the write() syscall.
Introduce a new mode for the bo LRU walker so that sleeping locks
can be taken. This can be used when the caller doesn't hold any
previous dma_resv locks, and where it intends to hold at most
one lock at a time.
Like the rest of the TTM eviction this should sooner than later
be converted to full WW transactions.
v3:
- Fix ttm_resource_manager_set_dmem_region() storing an error pointer
in man->cg unconditionally. (Sashiko-bot)
- Fix kernel-doc function name format for ttm_bo_evict_cgroup() and
ttm_resource_manager_set_dmem_region().
v5:
- Rebased on the introduction of struct dmem_cgroup_init.
- Handle NULL region in ttm_resource_manager_set_dmem_region() to clear
the reclaim callback, preventing use-after-free when the manager is
torn down while the dmem region outlives it. (Sashiko-bot)
- Return 0 on any progress (even partial eviction), -ENOSPC only when
nothing was freed; fixes callers that expected 0 on partial success.
- Document that the reclaim callback should return 0 if some progress
was made, -ENOSPC if no progress at all, or another error for fatal
failures.
v8:
- Fix ttm_resource_manager_set_dmem_region() using IS_ERR_OR_NULL(),
which skipped the assignment for a NULL region and thus never
cleared man->cg. Use IS_ERR() so that a NULL region detaches the
region as the kernel-doc and the v5 changelog intended. (Sashiko-bot)
v9:
- Don't leak cgroup charges for bos that may have survived dmemcg
region fini.
- Drop the misleading "Capture size before eviction in case res is
cleared" comment in ttm_bo_evict_cb(). (Maarten Lankhorst)

Coupling resource allocation and cgroup charging is racy when charging
succeeds, but subsequent resource allocation fails. Certain eviction
decisions are made on the basis of whether the allocating cgroup is
protected, i.e. within its min/low limits, but with the charge being
tied to resource allocation (and uncharged when the resource allocation
fails), this check is done at a point where the allocation is not actually
charged to the cgroup.
This is subtly wrong if the allocation were to cause the cgroup to exceed
the min/low protection, but it's even more wrong if the same cgroup tries
allocating multiple buffers concurrently: In this case, the min/low
protection may pass for all allocation attempts when the real min/low
protection covers only some, or potentially none of the allocated
buffers.
Instead, charge the allocation to the cgroup once and keep the charge
for as long as we try to allocate a ttm_resource, and only undo the charge
if allocating the resource is ultimately unsuccessful and we move on to
a different ttm_place.
