Merge series from Peter Ujfalusi <peter.ujfalusi@linux.intel.com>:
The firmware will be able to only save and restore the context related to
library management.
This means that even without a full context save, the libraries do not
need to be re-loaded to the firmware after second or consecutive boots.
This is reported via the FW_READY notification, where BIT(15) indicates:
0 - the library restore is not done
1 - library restore is done
This bit is only valid if full context save is not enabled, full context
save is by definition saves and restores the library related book-keeping
as well.
Add a new flag to tell the platform code if the libraries have been
restored, no need to reload them after boot.
All streams (currently) which is configured to use ChainDMA can only work
on Link/host DMA pairs where the link side position can be access via host
registers (like HDA on CAVS 2.5 platforms).
Since the firmware does not provide time_info for ChainDMA, unlike for HDA
stream, the kernel should calculate the start and end offsets that is
needed for the delay calculation.
With this small change we can report accurate delays when the stream is
configured to use ChainDMA.

If the stream has not been prepared there is no need to check if we have

Instead of just looking for a hw_config with matching rate only it sounds
better to try to find the best matching configuration.
If we have multiple hw_configurations with the same rate, but each with
different format for example then we have been picking the first config
with the matching rate, which can be a problem and it wil depend on how
the configs are ordered.
Instead we should be trying to find the best match out of the configs
1. rate + format + channels are matching
2. rate + format are matching
3. rate matching

Currently, the DSP core from i.MX8QM/i.MX8QXP is able to operate while the
firmware image is being loaded. Because of this, the DSP may change the
content of the firmware data just after it was loaded, thus leading to the
data having unexpected values when the DSP is reset (via run()).
Fix this by implementing the core_shutdown() operation that will put the
DSP in stall during suspend(). The stall will be removed during the run()
opertion, thus guaranteeing that the DSP core will not be able to run
while the firmware image is being loaded.

Boot code changes:
- A large series of changes to reorganize the x86 boot code into a better isolated
and easier to maintain base of PIC early startup code in arch/x86/boot/startup/,
by Ard Biesheuvel.
Motivation & background:
| Since commit
|
| c88d71508e ("x86/boot/64: Rewrite startup_64() in C")
|
| dated Jun 6 2017, we have been using C code on the boot path in a way
| that is not supported by the toolchain, i.e., to execute non-PIC C
| code from a mapping of memory that is different from the one provided
| to the linker. It should have been obvious at the time that this was a
| bad idea, given the need to sprinkle fixup_pointer() calls left and
| right to manipulate global variables (including non-pointer variables)
| without crashing.
|
| This C startup code has been expanding, and in particular, the SEV-SNP
| startup code has been expanding over the past couple of years, and
| grown many of these warts, where the C code needs to use special
| annotations or helpers to access global objects.
This tree includes the first phase of this work-in-progress x86 boot code
reorganization.

The changes in this release are quite large, mainly in drivers rather
than the core. This is partly due to cleanups that touch a lot of
drivers and partly due to several relatively large new drivers.
- Support for automatically enumerating DAIs from standards conforming
SoundWire SDCA devices, further work is required for these to be
useful in an actual card.
- Conversion of quite a few drivers to newer GPIO APIs.
- More helpers and cleanups from Mormimoto-san.
- Support for a wider range of AVS platforms.
- Support for AMD ACP 7.x platforms, Cirrus Logic CS35L63 and CS48L32,
Everest Semiconductor ES8389, Longsoon-1 AC'97 controllers, nVidia
Tegra264, Richtek ALC203 and RT9123 and Rockchip SAI controllers.

hda_generic_machine_select() appends -idisp to the tplg filename by
allocating a new string with devm_kasprintf(), then stores the string
right back into the global variable snd_soc_acpi_intel_hda_machines.
When the module is unloaded, this memory is freed, resulting in a global
variable pointing to freed memory. Reloading the module then triggers
a use-after-free:

The header.numid is set to scontrol->comp_id in bytes_ext_get and it is
ignored during bytes_ext_put.
The use of comp_id is not quite great as it is kernel internal
identification number.
Set the header.numid to SOF_CTRL_CMD_BINARY during get and validate the
numid during put to provide consistent and compatible identification
number as IPC3.
For IPC4 existing tooling also ignored the numid but with the use of
SOF_CTRL_CMD_BINARY the different handling of the blobs can be dropped,
providing better user experience.

DSP on i.MX8MP doesn't have a direct reset line so according to hardware
design team in order to handle assert/deassert/reset functionality we
need to use a combination of control bits from two modules. Audio block
control module for Run/Stall control of the DSP and DAP module in order
to do software reset.
In a first step, for i.MX8MP we are switching on using the reset
controller API to handle the DSP Run/Stall bits i.MX8MP. This comes with
the advantage of offering a better probe ordering and a more natural way
of abstracting the Audio block control bits.

Merge series from Philipp Stanner <phasta@kernel.org>:
A year ago we spent quite some work trying to get PCI into better shape.
Some pci_ functions can be sometimes managed with devres, which is
obviously bad. We want to provide an obvious API, where pci_ functions
are never, and pcim_ functions are always managed.
Thus, everyone enabling his device with pcim_enable_device() must be
ported to pcim_ functions. Porting all users will later enable us to
significantly simplify parts of the PCI subsystem. See here [1] for
details.
This patch series does that for sound.
Feel free to squash the commits as you see fit.

pci_request_regions() is a hybrid function which becomes managed if
pcim_enable_device() was called before. This hybrid nature is deprecated
and should not be used anymore.
Replace pci_request_regions() with the always-managed function
pcim_request_all_regions().
Remove surplus calls to PCI release functions, since pcim_ functions do
cleanup automatically.

In preparation for making the kmalloc family of allocators type aware,
we need to make sure that the returned type from the allocation matches
the type of the variable being assigned. (Before, the allocator would
always return "void *", which can be implicitly cast to any pointer type.)
The assigned type is "struct snd_sof_pipeline **", but the returned type
will be "struct snd_sof_widget **". These are the same size allocation
(pointer size) but the types don't match. Adjust the allocation type to
match the assignment.

IPC message cannot be sent from the irq thread directly as the message will
not receive the reply (interrupts are disabled) and it will time out - the
reply is going to be received right after the we leave the irq thread.
This is a different case compared to the delayed IPC messages due to DSP
busy state.
Add support for sending the mic privacy change notification to the firmware
from a work instead of the process callback.

When the firmware is involved, the data can be transferred with a
CHAIN_DMA on LNL+.
The CHAIN_DMA needs to be programmed before the DMAs per the
documentation. The states are not exactly symmetrical, on stop we must
do a PAUSE and RESET.
The FIFO size of 10ms was determined experimentally. With the minimum
of 2ms, errors were reported by the codec, likely because of xruns.
The code flow deals with the two TX and RX CHAIN_DMAs in symmetrical
ways, i.e.
alloc TX
alloc RX
enable TX
enable RX
disable RX
disable TX
free RX
free TX

Implement the three callbacks that is needed to enable support for
reporting the mic privacy change via soundwire.
In PTL the mic privacy reporting is supported via soundwire and DMIC and
the soundwire is owned by the host, it's interrupt is routed there.
To enable the interrupt, the sublink mask needs to be passed to the
multilink layer, the check_mic_privacy_irq/process_mic_privacy callbacks
needs to be implemented to check and report the mic privacy change.

New register has been introduced with PTL in the vendor specific SHIM
registers, outside of the IPs itself for microphone privacy status handling.
Via the PVCCS register the current microphone privacy status can be checked
and the interrupt generation on status change can be enabled/disabled.
The status change interrupt is routed to the owner of the interface
(DSP/host).
The PVCCS is provided for each sublink under the IP to make it possible to
control the interrupt generation per sublink.
On status change the MDSTSCHG bit needs to be cleared for all sublink of
the interface to be able to detect future changes in privacy.
The status bit (MDSTS) is volatile in all PVCCS register, it reflects the
current state of the GPIO signal.
Microphone privacy is a hardware feature (if enabled and configured that
way), the host has only passive, monitoring role.
The added functions are generic to be future proof if the mic privacy
support is extended beyond Soundwire and DMIC links.

ACE3 (Panther Lake) introduced support for microphone privacy feature which
can - in hardware - mute incoming audio data based on a state of a physical
switch.
The change in the privacy state is delivered through interface IP blocks
and can only be handled by the link owner.
In Intel platforms Soundwire is for example host owned, so the interrupt
can only be handled by the host.
Since the input stream is going to be muted by hardware, the host needs to
send a message to firmware about the change in privacy so it can execute a
fade out/in to enhance user experience.
The support for microphone privacy can be queried from the HW_CONFIG data
under the INTEL_MIC_PRIVACY_CAP tuple. This is Intel specific data, the
core will pass it to platform code if the intel_configure_mic_privacy()
callback is provided.
Platform code can call sof_ipc4_mic_privacy_state_change() to send the IPC
message to the firmware on state change.

CONFIG_SND_SOC_SOF_AMD_COMMON is a hidden option that is only selected by
other options. It can't have a direct depends on AMD_NODE because select
can't pick another option automatically.
This was attempted to be fixed in commit b47834ee44 ("ASoC: SOF: amd:

Instead move the `depends on AMD_NODE` out of SND_SOC_SOF_AMD_COMMON to

'imx_unregister_action' uses 'sdev->pdata->hw_pdata' to fetch the pointer
to the common data structure. As such, if 'sdev->pdata->hw_pdata' is not
set before adding 'imx_unregister_action' to the devres list, we risk
derefrencing a NULL pointer if any of the calls between

The definition of 'struct sof_dev_desc' has the following properties
for imx chips:
1) FW path is the same for all chips.
2) Topology path is the same for all chips.
3) FW name can be written as: "sof-${machine_name}.ri"
4) IPC3 is the only supported protocol
The structure takes quite a few lines of code. Since the intention
is to add support for more imx8 chips in the same driver, we need
to try and reduce the number of lines taken by information that's
not particularly useful. As such, we can use 'IMX_SOF_DEV_DESC()'
to reduce the declaration of the structure to just one line. The
only information that's particularly useful can be seen from the
parameters of the macro.
Of course, if any of the assumptions don't apply anymore, driver
writers can simply declare the 'struct sof_dev_desc' the "old
fashioned way". No reason to make the macro suit multiple needs.
The same logic applies to the array of 'struct snd_soc_dai_driver'.

The common interface for imx chips (defined in imx-common.c) contains the
definitions for a lot of functions required by the SOF core. As such, the
platform driver can just use the common definitions instead of duplicating
code by re-defining aforementioned functions.
Make the transition to the new common interface. This consists of:
1) Removing unneeded functions, which are already defined in the
common interface.
2) Defining some chip-specific operations/structures required by the
interface to work.
3) Dropping structure definitions that are no longer needed.
4) Adapting some existing functions to the new interface.

a unified way and provide additional details to help to understand the
reasons and configuration used when the log was captured.
Change the way we print information about the ipc4 copier module to
use type specific prints, again to provide better information for

A split SOF release consists of a base firmware and two libraries:
<fw_filename>-openmodules.ri for processing (audio) modules
<fw_filename>-debug.ri for debug and developer modules
To handle this new release model add infrastructure to try to load the two
library after boot optionally.
This approach will allow flexibility on handling platforms in sof-bin with
single or split configuration:
single release: base firmware only
split release: base firmware + openmodules + debug
The files for the split firmware are located at the firmware directory.

Other, non DAI copier widgets could have the same stream name (sname) as
the ALH copier and in that case the copier->data is NULL, no alh_data is
attached, which could lead to NULL pointer dereference.
We could check for this NULL pointer in sof_ipc4_prepare_copier_module()
and avoid the crash, but a similar loop in sof_ipc4_widget_setup_comp_dai()
will miscalculate the ALH device count, causing broken audio.
The correct fix is to harden the matching logic by making sure that the
1. widget is a DAI widget - so dai = w->private is valid
2. the dai (and thus the copier) is ALH copier

Here is the big set of driver core and debugfs updates for 6.14-rc1.
It's coming late in the merge cycle as there are a number of merge
conflicts with your tree now, and I wanted to make sure they were
working properly. To resolve them, look in linux-next, and I will send
the "fixup" patch as a response to the pull request.
Included in here is a bunch of driver core, PCI, OF, and platform rust
bindings (all acked by the different subsystem maintainers), hence the
merge conflict with the rust tree, and some driver core api updates to
mark things as const, which will also require some fixups due to new
stuff coming in through other trees in this merge window.
There are also a bunch of debugfs updates from Al, and there is at least
one user that does have a regression with these, but Al is working on
tracking down the fix for it. In my use (and everyone else's linux-next
use), it does not seem like a big issue at the moment.
Here's a short list of the things in here:
- driver core bindings for PCI, platform, OF, and some i/o functions.
We are almost at the "write a real driver in rust" stage now,
depending on what you want to do.
- misc device rust bindings and a sample driver to show how to use
them
- debugfs cleanups in the fs as well as the users of the fs api for
places where drivers got it wrong or were unnecessarily doing things
in complex ways.
- driver core const work, making more of the api take const * for
different parameters to make the rust bindings easier overall.
- other small fixes and updates
All of these have been in linux-next with all of the aforementioned
merge conflicts, and the one debugfs issue, which looks to be resolved
"soon".

We introduce SOF support for new board revisions for i.MX8MP/QM/QXP
which wrt audio they replace wm8960 codec with wm8962.
Also add support for cs42888 codec on i.MX8QM/8QXP baseboard.
The new revision for 8M Plus has wm8962 codec instead of wm8960.
Therefore add new entry in sof_imx8mp_machs, an array of snd_sof_of_mach,
where we describe topology name and driver name.
For the new revision we have new compatible value and based on this,
we select the new topology file, for wm8962 codec.

The linkDMA should not be released on stop trigger since a stream re-start
might happen without closing of the stream. This leaves a short time for
other streams to 'steal' the linkDMA since it has been released.
This issue is not easy to reproduce under normal conditions as usually
after stop the stream is closed, or the same stream is restarted, but if
another stream got in between the stop and start, like this:
aplay -Dhw:0,3 -c2 -r48000 -fS32_LE /dev/zero -d 120
CTRL+z
aplay -Dhw:0,0 -c2 -r48000 -fS32_LE /dev/zero -d 120
then the link DMA channels will be mixed up, resulting firmware error or
crash.

A new set of tokens have been added to SOF topology to indicate that the pause
operation is supported or not on the given PCM device.
Pause is an optional feature that depends on pipeline, topology and modules
used by the PCM.
Add a pause_supported flag to snd_sof_pcm_stream and use this flag in Intel
platform code to keep the pause support enabled or to disable it.
The following definitions have no users: SOF_DAI_STREAM() and SOF_FORMATS,
they can be dropped from the header file.

New tokens are added to topology:
1202: SOF_TKN_STREAM_PLAYBACK_PAUSE_SUPPORTED
1203: SOF_TKN_STREAM_CAPTURE_PAUSE_SUPPORTED
The new tokens are used to advertise support for PAUSE/RESUME operation on
a PCM device depending on firmware product, use case, pipeline topology.
The snd_sof_pcm_stream.pause_supported is updated to reflect the advertised
value for the PCM device.
If the token does not exist then the pause_supported is set to false.
Note: it is up to the platform code to use this flag to decide to advertise
the PAUSE support for user space or not.

Each cpu DAI should associate with a widget. However, the topology might
not create the right number of DAI widgets for aggregated amps. And it
will cause NULL pointer deference.
Check that the DAI widget associated with the CPU DAI is valid to prevent
NULL pointer deference due to missing DAI widgets in topologies with
aggregated amps.

Intel SoundWire machine driver always uses Pin number 2 and above.
Currently, the pin number is used as the FW DAI index directly. As a
result, FW DAI 0 and 1 are never used. That worked fine because we use
up to 2 DAIs in a SDW link. Convert the topology pin index to ALH dai
index, the mapping is using 2-off indexing, iow, pin #2 is ALH dai #0.
The issue exists since beginning. And the Fixes tag is the first commit
that this commit can be applied.

- The final step to get rid of auto-rearming posix-timers
posix-timers are currently auto-rearmed by the kernel when the signal
of the timer is ignored so that the timer signal can be delivered once
the corresponding signal is unignored.
This requires to throttle the timer to prevent a DoS by small intervals
and keeps the system pointlessly out of low power states for no value.
This is a long standing non-trivial problem due to the lock order of
posix-timer lock and the sighand lock along with life time issues as
the timer and the sigqueue have different life time rules.
Cure this by:
* Embedding the sigqueue into the timer struct to have the same life
time rules. Aside of that this also avoids the lookup of the timer
in the signal delivery and rearm path as it's just a always valid
container_of() now.
* Queuing ignored timer signals onto a seperate ignored list.
* Moving queued timer signals onto the ignored list when the signal is
switched to SIG_IGN before it could be delivered.
* Walking the ignored list when SIG_IGN is lifted and requeue the
signals to the actual signal lists. This allows the signal delivery
code to rearm the timer.
This also required to consolidate the signal delivery rules so they are
consistent across all situations. With that all self test scenarios
finally succeed.
- Core infrastructure for VFS multigrain timestamping
This is required to allow the kernel to use coarse grained time stamps
by default and switch to fine grained time stamps when inode attributes
are actively observed via getattr().
These changes have been provided to the VFS tree as well, so that the
VFS specific infrastructure could be built on top.
- Cleanup and consolidation of the sleep() infrastructure
* Move all sleep and timeout functions into one file
* Rework udelay() and ndelay() into proper documented inline functions
and replace the hardcoded magic numbers by proper defines.
* Rework the fsleep() implementation to take the reality of the timer
wheel granularity on different HZ values into account. Right now the
boundaries are hard coded time ranges which fail to provide the
requested accuracy on different HZ settings.
* Update documentation for all sleep/timeout related functions and fix
up stale documentation links all over the place
* Fixup a few usage sites
- Rework of timekeeping and adjtimex(2) to prepare for multiple PTP clocks
A system can have multiple PTP clocks which are participating in
seperate and independent PTP clock domains. So far the kernel only
considers the PTP clock which is based on CLOCK TAI relevant as that's
the clock which drives the timekeeping adjustments via the various user
space daemons through adjtimex(2).
The non TAI based clock domains are accessible via the file descriptor
based posix clocks, but their usability is very limited. They can't be
accessed fast as they always go all the way out to the hardware and
they cannot be utilized in the kernel itself.
As Time Sensitive Networking (TSN) gains traction it is required to
provide fast user and kernel space access to these clocks.
The approach taken is to utilize the timekeeping and adjtimex(2)
infrastructure to provide this access in a similar way how the kernel
provides access to clock MONOTONIC, REALTIME etc.
Instead of creating a duplicated infrastructure this rework converts
timekeeping and adjtimex(2) into generic functionality which operates
on pointers to data structures instead of using static variables.
This allows to provide time accessors and adjtimex(2) functionality for
the independent PTP clocks in a subsequent step.
- Consolidate hrtimer initialization
hrtimers are set up by initializing the data structure and then
seperately setting the callback function for historical reasons.
That's an extra unnecessary step and makes Rust support less straight
forward than it should be.
Provide a new set of hrtimer_setup*() functions and convert the core
code and a few usage sites of the less frequently used interfaces over.
The bulk of the htimer_init() to hrtimer_setup() conversion is already
prepared and scheduled for the next merge window.
- Drivers:
* Ensure that the global timekeeping clocksource is utilizing the
cluster 0 timer on MIPS multi-cluster systems.
Otherwise CPUs on different clusters use their cluster specific
clocksource which is not guaranteed to be synchronized with other
clusters.
* Mostly boring cleanups, fixes, improvements and code movement

Fix an issue detected by the Smatch tool:
sound/soc/sof/ipc4-pcm.c: sof_ipc4_pcm_dai_link_fixup_rate()
error: uninitialized symbol 'be_rate'.
The warning highlights a case where `be_rate` could remain uninitialized
if `num_input_formats` is zero, which would cause undefined behavior
when setting `rate->min` and `rate->max` based on `be_rate`.
To address this issue, a `WARN_ON_ONCE(!num_input_formats)` check was
added to ensure `num_input_formats` is greater than zero. If this
condition fails, the function returns `-EINVAL`, preventing the use of
an uninitialized `be_rate`.
This change improves the robustness of the function by catching an
invalid state early and providing better feedback during development.

The type is known, but it is not handled, the print is misleading.
Write the size of the optional payload of SOF_IPC4_MOD_INIT_INSTANCE
message to extension param_size-bits.
The previous IPC4 version does not set these bits that should indicate
the size of the optional payload (struct sof_ipc4_probe_cfg). The old
firmware side component code works well without these bits, but when
the probes are converted to use the generic module API, this does not
work anymore.

hda_dai_suspend() was added to handle paused stream during system
suspend. But as a side effect, it also ends up cleaning up the DMA
data for those streams that were prepared but not triggered before a
system suspend. Since these streams will not receive the prepare
callback after resuming, we need to preserve the DMA data during suspend.
So, add the check to handle only those streams that are in the paused
state to avoid losing the DMA data for all other streams.

It has been reported that the DMA memory allocation for firmware download
can fail after extended period of uptime on systems with relatively small
amount of RAM when the system memory becomes fragmented.
The issue primarily happens when the system is waking up from system
suspend, swap might not be available and the MM system cannot move things
around to allow for successful allocation.
If the IMR boot is not supported then for each DSP boot we would need to
allocate the DMA buffer for firmware transfer, which can increase the
chances of the issue to be hit.
This patch adds support for allocating the DMA buffers once at first boot
time and keep it until the system is shut down, rebooted or the drivers
re-loaded and makes this as the default operation.
With persistent_cl_buffer module parameter the persistent Code Loader
DMA buffer can be disabled to fall back to on demand allocation.

The HDA specification states that the SDnLVI (Last Valid Index) must be at
least 1 (two BDLE entry).
Update the debug prints as well to provide better information.
While the LVI=0 worked so far without issues, it is better to align with
the specification to avoid unforeseen issues with FW loading.
Notes:
- The LVI > 0 rules is valid and honored for audio use cases
- LVI == 0 is used with software controlled (SPIB) transfers only for
firmware and library loading, which is permitted by the hardware
- This is not spelled out in the specification and it is better to avoid

Now, we don't need to use dpcm_playback/capture flags for DPCM since v6.11,
and thus we can use playback/capture_only flags instead too for DPCM,
which is same as non-DPCM.
Let's remove dpcm_playback/capture flags, and use playback/capture_only flags
instead.
[Before] [After]
dpcm_playback = 1; /* no setting is needed */
dpcm_capture = 1;
dpcm_playback = 1; playback_only = 1;
dpcm_capture = 0;
dpcm_playback = 0; capture_only = 1;
dpcm_capture = 1;
And then, because no-one uses dpcm_xxx flags, we don't need to have the code
for both DPCM and non-DPCM. These can be handled by same code.
The different bus type helpers define their own override parameters for
firmware name/path, topology name/path. sof-pci-dev covers all while others
just a subset.
There is no technical reason to do that since these are generic platform
independent parameters.

For aggregated DAIs, the node ID is set to the group_id during the DAI

Introduce a helper function to print out the audio format(s) used by a
module in a consistent way.
The printed text depends on the module format configuration, taking into
account if they have both input and output support, the format is changed
by the module and the number of formats supported on input/output.
For example, if a module does not change format, there is no point of
printing both in and out format, it is adequate to just state the format
the module is using.
While the function to generate the print is fairly complex (but not too
much), it will create a cleaner experience on the reader side by handling
the filtering of the information and present it in a way that it - I hope -
makes the developer's live a bit more easier when tracking format changes.

Proceed and remove the wait for IPC4 devices as well.

The removed code also had a bug in that -ETIMEDOUT is returned

The existing code modifies IRAM and DRAM size after sha dma start for
vangogh platform. The problem with this sequence is that it might cause
sha dma failure when firmware code binary size is greater than the default
IRAM size. To fix this issue, Move the iram-dram fence register sequence

-Wflex-array-member-not-at-end was introduced in GCC-14, and we are
getting ready to enable it, globally.
Move the conflicting declaration to the end of the structure. Notice
that `struct snd_sof_pcm` ends in a flexible-array member through
`struct snd_soc_tplg_pcm` -> `struct snd_soc_tplg_private`.

This patch use it.
One note is that snd_pcm_direction_name() will select
"Playback" and "Capture", instead of "playback" / "capture".
Almost all drivers are using it as dev_dbg() or dev_err()
so no problem. But some other drivers are using it as other
purpose. It might be issue (?). For example ASoC debugfs dir name
will be changed by this patch.

We see a bit large LOCs at a HD-audio quirk, but that's only bulk

were two minor fixes for MIDI 2.0 handling for ALSA core, and the
rest are all rather random small and device-specific fixes.

Here is the big set of driver core changes for 6.11-rc1.
Lots of stuff in here, with not a huge diffstat, but apis are evolving
which required lots of files to be touched. Highlights of the changes
in here are:
- platform remove callback api final fixups (Uwe took many releases to
get here, finally!)
- Rust bindings for basic firmware apis and initial driver-core
interactions. It's not all that useful for a "write a whole driver
in rust" type of thing, but the firmware bindings do help out the
phy rust drivers, and the driver core bindings give a solid base on
which others can start their work. There is still a long way to go
here before we have a multitude of rust drivers being added, but
it's a great first step.
- driver core const api changes. This reached across all bus types,
and there are some fix-ups for some not-common bus types that
linux-next and 0-day testing shook out. This work is being done to
help make the rust bindings more safe, as well as the C code, moving
toward the end-goal of allowing us to put driver structures into
read-only memory. We aren't there yet, but are getting closer.
- minor devres cleanups and fixes found by code inspection
- arch_topology minor changes
- other minor driver core cleanups
All of these have been in linux-next for a very long time with no
reported problems.

The DMA Link ID is set to the IPC message's primary during dai_config,
which is only during hw_params.
During xrun handling the hw_params is not called and the DMA Link ID

All other fields in the message expected to be 0 for re-configuration, only
the DMA Link ID needs to be preserved and the in case of repeated
dai_config, it is correctly updated (masked and then set).

Commit 8efcd48646 ("ASoC: Intel: sof_rt5682: use common module for

context struct up to soc-acpi-intel-ssp-common.c. This uses a lookup
table to see if a device has a amp/codec before assigning the pin. The
issue here arises when combination parts that serve both (with 2 ports)
are used.

Multiple users report a regression bisected to commit d5263dbbd8
("ASoC: SOF: Intel: don't ignore IOC interrupts for non-audio
transfers"). The firmware version is the likely suspect, as these
users relied on SOF 2.0 while Intel only tested with the 2.2 release.
Rather than completely disable the wait_for_completion(), which can
help us gather timing information on the different stages of the boot
process, the simplest course of action is to just disable it for older
IPC versions which are no longer under active development.

We could have separate lists for all types but it is probably simpler to
just use a single list for all types of copiers. Function specific tokens

When system enters suspend with an active stream, SOF core
calls hw_params_upon_resume(). On Intel platforms with HDA DMA used
to manage the link DMA, this leads to call chain of
hda_dsp_set_hw_params_upon_resume()
-> hda_dsp_dais_suspend()
-> hda_dai_suspend()
-> hda_ipc4_post_trigger()
A bug is hit in hda_dai_suspend() as hda_link_dma_cleanup() is run first,
which clears hext_stream->link_substream, and then hda_ipc4_post_trigger()
is called with a NULL snd_pcm_substream pointer.

It is incorrect to request the input pin format of the destination widget
using the output pin index of the source module as the indexes are not
necessarily matching.
moduleA.out_pin1 can be connected to moduleB.in_pin0 for example.
Use the dst_queue_id to request the input format of the destination module.
This bug remained unnoticed likely because in nocodec topologies we don't
have process modules after a module copier, thus the pin/queue index is
ignored.
For the process module case, the code was likely have been tested in a
controlled way where all the pin/queue/format properties were present to
work.
Update the debug prints to have better information.

In the quest to make struct device constant, start by making
to_auxiliary_drv() return a constant pointer so that drivers that call
this can be fixed up before the driver core changes.
As the return type previously was not constant, also fix up all callers
that were assuming that the pointer was not going to be a constant one
in order to not break the build.

we must skip the ipc_unprepare() call for ones that has positive use count.
The positive use count means that the module instance is in active use, it

ASoC: Merge up fixes
We need this to get the i.MX platforms working in CI again.
Merge series from Peter Ujfalusi <peter.ujfalusi@linux.intel.com>:
The existing logic to pick a DMIC blob is based on several historical
assumptions that the NHLT in BIOS always contains 32-bits per sample
type (first patch, [1]).
The other issue with the existing logic is that it was designed to care only
about the bit depth of the format and fails to find the existing and correct
blob when rate/channels are different on the FE side compared to what we should
be using on the DAI side (we have components in path which can change
rate/channel count).
These issues have not been observed in past but with new MTL based (Windows)
laptops and new topologies to enhance the audio quality, we started to see weird
issues around how our assumptions of vendors failed.
Since some NHLT blob handling cleanup has been done for 6.10, this series will
complete that work to cover even cases that we don't anticipate to see.
[1] https://github.com/thesofproject/linux/issues/4973
Currently we only check the bit depth value among to DAI formats, but other
parameters might be constant, like number of channels and/or rate.
In capture we use the fe params as a reference to find the format and blob
which should be used, but in the path we can have components which can
handle expanding/narrowing number of channels or do a resample.
In these cases the topology is expected to have 'fixed' parameter for
channels/rates/bit depth and the conversion to the fe format is going to
be done within the path.
In practice this patch fixes issues like:
All DMIC formats are fixed four channels
We have a component which converts the four channel to stereo
FE is opened with 2 channel
Even if we have the correct bit depth format and blob (for four channel) we
will still be looking for stereo configurations, which will fail.
Note: the adjustment of params have switched order with the checking of
single bit depth (needed for the NHLT blob fallback support). This change
is non function, just that if the sof_ipc4_narrow_params_to_format() would
fail, there is no point of checking the single bit depth.

The ACPI NHLT table always had 32-bit DMIC blob even if 16-bit was also
present and taken as a 'rule' which obviously got broken and there is at
least one device on the market which ships with only 16-bit DMIC
configuration blob.
This corner case has never been supported and it is going to need topology
updates for DMIC copier to support multiple formats.
As for the kernel side: if the copier supports multiple formats and the
preferred 32-bit DMIC blob is not found then we will try to get a 16-bit
DMIC configuration and look for a 16-bit copier config.
