mlx5_esw_bridge_vport_unlink() returns -EINVAL when the port isn't
tracked by this instance's br_offloads. This is reachable on a sibling
instance that registered its notifier after the port was already
enslaved: it never saw the NETDEV_CHANGEUPPER link event, so
peer_link() never created a peer port for it, but it does see the
later unlink event and fails. Return 0 instead, and give
mlx5_esw_bridge_vport_peer_unlink() the same merged_eswitch capability
guard peer_link() already has, since without it peer_link() likewise
never creates a port to unlink.
This also matters beyond the -EINVAL itself:
mlx5_esw_bridge_switchdev_port_event() runs on the per-netns
netdev_chain, and notifier_from_errno(-EINVAL) sets NOTIFY_STOP_MASK,
which call_netdevice_notifiers_info() checks to stop calling further
listeners on that chain - so the old -EINVAL silently dropped the
event for any listener registered later on the same chain, even
though none of it was visible to user space since
__netdev_upper_dev_unlink() discards the return value.

mlx5 registers the bridge offload switchdev notifiers once per eswitch
instance, but the notifier chains are global, so every instance sees
every event and must filter out the ones that aren't its own. The
existing filter, mlx5_esw_bridge_dev_same_hw(), only checks that the
event netdevice sits on the same HCA - intentional for merged eswitch,
where one bridge can span representors of several eswitches on one
HCA - but same-HCA doesn't mean the instance actually has that port:
peer ports are only created reactively from NETDEV_CHANGEUPPER, so an
instance brought up after a sibling PF's port was already enslaved has
none. The port object and attribute handlers claim the event anyway
once same-HW passes, then fail the port lookup and return -EINVAL,
which gets reported to user space even though the owning instance
already handled it (e.g. "bridge vlan add ... RTNETLINK answers:
Invalid argument"). Fix by filtering on the tracked port instead.
The same gap exists in the generic recursive lower-device walk used by
attribute changes on a bridge with more than one representor enslaved
directly: mlx5_esw_bridge_lower_rep_vport_num_vhca_id_get() is entered
with the bridge master netdevice, falls through to its generic
netdev_for_each_lower_dev() loop, and returns as soon as the recursion
into any one lower device yields a non-NULL rep - the underlying base
case, mlx5_esw_bridge_rep_vport_num_vhca_id_get(), only checks
mlx5_esw_bridge_dev_same_hw(), not ownership by the calling instance's
br_offloads. mlx5_esw_bridge_lag_rep_get(), used for the LAG-master
case, already filters on mlx5_esw_bridge_dev_same_esw() per candidate
and so cannot select a sibling's rep; it is not the source of this bug.
On a merged-eswitch HCA with a bridge spanning representors of more
than one eswitch instance directly, the walk can return a sibling's rep
instead of continuing to the one the calling instance actually owns, so
the attribute change fails the same way as above. Fix by checking
mlx5_esw_bridge_port_exists() at the point each rep is picked, same as
the previous fix did for the notifier filter.

emac_tx_mem_map() writes TX_DESC_0_OWN into the ring descriptor for
every slot beyond old_head as soon as that slot's memset()'d local
copy is committed with "*tx_desc_addr = tx_desc", i.e. before the
buffers for that slot have necessarily all been mapped successfully.
If emac_tx_map_frag() then fails on a later fragment, the err_free_skb
path calls emac_free_tx_buf() to unmap and drop the skb, but leaves
the already-written descriptor memory untouched, and tx_ring->head is
never advanced past old_head (the "tx_ring->head = head" store is
skipped by the goto).
So a slot between old_head and the rolled-back head can be left with
TX_DESC_0_OWN set and buffer_addr_{1,2} pointing at DMA mappings that
emac_free_tx_buf() just tore down, while software considers that slot
free again. The next successful emac_tx_mem_map() call only rebuilds
old_head itself; if the DMA engine auto-advances into the following
descriptor once it finishes old_head's packet, it will fetch that
stale, already-unmapped address.
emac_tx_clean_desc() already treats emac_free_tx_buf() and clearing
the descriptor as a pair when reclaiming completed descriptors; do
the same in the mapping failure path.

that VLAN devices could inherit MACsec offload support.
mlx5e_build_nic_netdev subsequently copies vlan_features into
hw_features and features. As a result, all mlx5e NIC netdevices
advertise MACsec hardware offload, even when the firmware does not
support it and the driver does not install macsec_ops.
Set the MACsec feature bits in mlx5e_macsec_build_netdev, after device

The firmware can complete a mailbox descriptor while also setting FW_ERR
to indicate it could not process the request, for example on a mailbox
DMA error. The completion carries no valid data.
The driver did not check FW_ERR. On the Rx mailbox it would sync and
parse the stale page as a normal message, and on the Tx mailbox it
silently freed the request. If the initial capabilities exchange in
fbnic_mbx_poll_tx_ready() hit FW_ERR -- on the Tx request or on the Rx
response descriptor -- no response was parsed and the poll spun until it
timed out even though the ring was healthy.
Check FW_ERR on both mailboxes. Count it per-mailbox in
fbnic_fw_mbx.resp_error, which is also shown in debugfs, warn (rate
limited, since the bit is firmware controlled), and drop the Rx page
instead of parsing it.
In fbnic_mbx_poll_tx_ready() re-issue the capabilities request when
either the Tx or the Rx resp_error counter advances, so a FW_ERR on the
request or on its response triggers a retry rather than a timeout. A
valid capabilities response is honored before the retry check, so a
response parsed in the same poll as an unrelated FW_ERR is not discarded.
The counters are mailbox-wide rather than keyed to the capabilities
request; that is sufficient here because the exchange runs during
bring-up before any other mailbox traffic, and any spurious retry is
bounded by the existing 10s timeout.

When tearing down the FW mailbox Rx ring, fbnic_mbx_reset_desc_ring()
writes AW_CFG with FLUSH set and everything else, BME included, cleared.
Clearing BME halts the device's writes to the host but leaves the staged
requests parked in the PUL write pipeline rather than draining them, so
on the write path FLUSH alone never terminates the outstanding requests
and the flush the firmware waits on never completes.
Add the FLUSH_MODE definition and set both bits so the staged writes
drain out of the pipeline on their own. BME stays cleared, so nothing
lands on the host; it is restored later in fbnic_mbx_init_desc_ring()
when the ring is rebuilt, once the outstanding writes are gone.
The read path is unaffected. AR_CFG has no equivalent mode bit and
AR_FLUSH terminates the outstanding reads by itself, so it is left as
is.
Both writes remain plain stores rather than read-modify-writes. That is
deliberate: the matching write in fbnic_mbx_init_desc_ring() restores
BME and the TLP attributes, and clears both flush bits as a side effect.

fbn->num_napi is the count of live napi vectors, each of which owns an
IRQ. The PM path had freed them without clearing the count.
fbnic_pm_suspend() tears the datapath down via ndo_stop() and frees the
IRQs, but leaves netif_running() true so resume knows to re-open. Resume
rebuilds the datapath in __fbnic_pm_resume() and fbnic_reset_queues() sets
num_napi and __fbnic_open() re-allocates the vectors.
When the datapath is torn down but never rebuilt, num_napi is left
pointing at freed vectors under 2 different scenarios:
- a PCIe error recovery that fails (fbnic_err_slot_reset() ->
__fbnic_pm_resume() returns an error -> PCI_ERS_RESULT_DISCONNECT), so
.resume never runs; or
- an __fbnic_open() that fails partway on resume and unwinds, freeing
the vectors after fbnic_reset_queues() has already set num_napi.
The netdev is then running with num_napi > 0 but napi[] freed, and the
eventual remove/unbind close re-enters fbnic_down() -> fbnic_dbg_down()
and dereferences the freed vectors:
BUG: kernel NULL pointer dereference, address: 0000000000000210
RIP: fbnic_dbg_down+0x28
Clear num_napi when the vectors are freed: in the suspend teardown (a
good resume re-establishes it before __fbnic_open()) and on the resume
open failure. A redundant ndo_stop() then walks an empty napi[]. The
normal ndo_stop() down/up cycle is untouched and keeps num_napi for the
next ndo_open().

The queue management ndos pick the napi vector for an Rx queue with:
nv = fbn->napi[idx % fbn->num_napi];
The issue is this is only correct in the cases where there are no
standalone Tx vectors. In those cases we were allocating the Tx vectors
first and then the Rx so the queues would be pointing to Tx NAPI vectors
instead of the Rx ones.
The mapping the ndos want is already recorded. fbnic_set_netif_napi()
publishes it with netif_queue_set_napi(), which stores the napi pointer
in netdev_rx_queue.napi, and fbnic_reset_netif_napi() clears it again.
Both run under the netdev instance lock that the queue management ndos
also hold, so the pointer can be read directly.
Use it and drop the divide. The pointer is NULL exactly while the
datapath is down, so fbnic_queue_mem_alloc() can reject that case rather
than reaching into freed state: netdev_rx_queue_restart() calls it
before it tests netif_running(), and fbnic_pm_suspend() leaves
netif_running() true across a PCIe recovery that never completes, so a
queue restart can arrive after fbnic_stop() has freed the rings and the
vectors. fbnic_stop() clears the association in
fbnic_reset_netif_queues() before fbnic_free_napi_vectors(), so the
NULL is always published first. fbnic_queue_start() and
fbnic_queue_stop() need no check of their own, as
netdev_rx_queue_reconfig() only reaches them once fbnic_queue_mem_alloc()
has succeeded under the same instance lock.

mlx5_devcom_comp_get_size() returns the component's kref count. That
kref is bumped in mlx5_devcom_register_component() under comp_list_lock,
before the comp_dev is linked onto comp_dev_list_head under comp->sem.
The event broadcast (mlx5_devcom_locked_send_event()) walks that list.
Hence, a caller can read the expected size, but send_event won't be sent
to all peers. In the SD group registration path, this lets a member
broadcast its role-election event over an incomplete list, electing a
primary that never completes the group, is never marked ready, and
leaves the group with a stale primary.
Track the number of linked comp_devs in a dedicated counter, maintained
under comp->sem together with the list add/remove, and return it from
mlx5_devcom_comp_get_size().

The per‑processor buffering scheme is supported only if the
number of pools (nrxqs * 2) does not exceed MVPP2_BM_MAX_POOLS (8).
This is already checked in mvpp2_probe() during the initial
activation of percpu_pools.
However, mvpp2_change_mtu() may later call
mvpp2_bm_switch_buffers(priv, true) without this check, which can
lead to an out-of-bounds access in the priv->page_pool array in
mvpp2_bm_init(). The array is sized to hold MVPP2_PORT_MAX_RXQ
entries, and mvpp2_get_nrxqs() may return exactly that value. The
per-CPU scheme then doubles it to nrxqs * 2, exceeding the array
bounds.
Check that the hardware version is MVPP22 or newer and that the
number of pools (nrxqs * 2) does not exceed MVPP2_BM_MAX_POOLS
before switching to per-CPU mode.

PTP_SYS_OFFSET_EXTENDED returns system timestamps that do not correctly
bracket the PHC register read on MACB/GEM. On a Raspberry Pi 5, the
returned interval can be as short as 37 ns, while an ordered register
read takes approximately 1 us. This biases the midpoint used by phc2sys,
causing CLOCK_REALTIME to run approximately 0.5 us ahead when synchronized
to the PHC.
gem_tsu_get_time() reads the nanoseconds register using the driver's
relaxed MMIO accessor. On weakly ordered systems, the subsequent system
timestamp can be taken before the register read completes. The internal
smp_rmb() in the pre-timestamp path also does not guarantee ordering
against the subsequent MMIO read.
Add rmb() before and after the bracketed nanoseconds read in both the
normal and seconds rollover paths so the system timestamps bracket the
PHC read. Adding the post-read barrier increases the minimum interval on
the same Raspberry Pi 5 to approximately 1 us.

With the FPE preemption-class mapping error now propagated from
stmmac_fpe_map_preemption_class(), tc_setup_dwmac510_mqprio() can fail
on the mapping step. The error path used to call stmmac_reset_tc_mqprio(),
which resets the number of real TX queues to priv->plat->tx_queues_to_use
(the platform maximum), overwriting the value that was active before the
offload was attempted (for example a lower count left over from a previous
mqprio configuration).
The issue can be triggered using the following configuration:
# First mqprio config lowers the hw queue count below the platform
# default (e.g. 8 TX queues).
$tc qdisc add dev eth0 root handle 1: mqprio queues 2@0 2@2
# Replace mqprio configuration with a second one that fails FPE
# preemption-class mapping. stmmac driver resets the real_num_tx_queues
# to the platform maximum, losing the previous configuration.
$tc qdisc replace dev eth0 root handle 2: mqprio queues 2@0 2@2 fp E P
Save ndev->real_num_tx_queues before lowering it and restore it,
together with the TC-to-queue and priority-to-TC mappings, when the FPE
preemption-class mapping fails, instead of resetting the queue count to
the platform maximum.
Note that a failed setup makes the qdisc layer run mqprio_destroy() on
the new qdisc. Because priv->hw_offload is only assigned after
ndo_setup_tc() succeeds, mqprio_destroy() calls netdev_set_num_tc(dev, 0),
so dev->num_tc ends up 0 regardless of the driver-side restore and the
previous qdisc is not reactivated. The restore is still needed to keep
real_num_tx_queues and to avoid leaving the failed configuration's
TC-to-queue and priority-to-TC mappings in place.

stmmac_fpe_map_preemption_class() dispatches through the
stmmac_do_void_callback() helper, which forces the callback's return
value to 0 whenever the op pointer is populated. As a result the
-EINVAL returned by dwmac5_fpe_map_preemption_class() (e.g. when a
preemptible TC owns more than one TXQ under SP scheduling) is silently
swallowed by every caller.
Switch the dispatch macro to stmmac_do_callback() so the callback's real
result is propagated, and honour it in the taprio and mqprio qdisc
offload.
Note that the taprio "if (ret)" check in tc_taprio_configure() used to
be dead code and now becomes live: a preemptible TC spanning more than
one TXQ under SP scheduling cannot be programmed in hardware, so a
taprio or mqprio configuration that previously returned success while
leaving the preemption-class register unprogrammed now fails with
-EINVAL. For taprio, the failure also runs the disable path, tearing
down the schedule that was just installed; this is the intended
behaviour.

fbnic_tx_map() skips the doorbell write, and the completion request,
for every packet handed to it with xmit_more set, counting on the
packet which ends the burst to publish them all. When that packet is
dropped instead - skb_put_padto(), skb_cow_head() or a DMA mapping
failure - nothing rings. The descriptors of the preceding packets stay
invisible to the HW until the next transmit on that queue, which for a
burst-then-idle workload may never come.
Remember the meta descriptor of the last packet left without a doorbell
and flush it from the error paths. The completion request has to be set
on that descriptor rather than simply writing the tail, otherwise the HW
would transmit the packets but never report a head, and the ring would
fill up and stall for good.

netsec_of_probe() takes a reference on the PHY device_node with
of_parse_phandle() and stores it in priv->phy_np, but the driver never
drops it. One device_node reference is leaked per probe, on the success
path as well as on every error path reached after netsec_of_probe().
Neither consumer takes ownership. of_mdio_parse_addr() is a static
inline taking a const struct device_node * that only reads the "reg"
property. of_phy_connect() borrows as well: of_phy_get_and_connect() in
drivers/net/mdio/of_mdio.c brackets its own call with of_node_get() at
:364 and of_node_put() at :373, which would be a double put if
of_phy_connect() consumed the reference.
The node is still in use at netsec_netdev_open() time, where it is
passed to of_phy_connect(), so it has device lifetime. Release it at
the probe error label, which every failure path after the acquire
funnels through, and in netsec_remove(). Both releases precede
free_netdev(), since priv is netdev_priv(ndev). The ACPI probe path
leaves priv->phy_np NULL and of_node_put(NULL) is a no-op.
There is no end-user visible symptom on currently supported platforms:
a device_node is only freed once OF_DYNAMIC is enabled and the node has
been detached, so on a static device tree the imbalance is inert. It is
observable as a refcount that grows across bind/unbind cycles, and would
matter under device tree overlays.
Found by static analysis of reference acquire/release pairing rather
than from a runtime report. No reproducer was produced and the change
has not been runtime tested; it is compile-tested only (arm64,
CONFIG_SNI_NETSEC=m via COMPILE_TEST).

lan743x_rx_process_buffer() adds each non-first receive buffer to the
head skb's frag_list. On the last descriptor, lan743x_rx_trim_skb()
linearizes the head and frees the fragment skb metadata.
The checksum-success path then writes ip_summed through the local skb
pointer, which still points to the final fragment. This causes a
use-after-free write when a packet spans more than one receive buffer.
Set ip_summed on the surviving head skb instead. Multi-buffer receive
can occur after a live MTU increase because existing ring entries keep
their old buffer size until they are replenished.
A KUnit test invoking lan743x_rx_process_buffer() with a two-buffer
packet produced a one-byte KASAN use-after-free write before this change.
The same test passed after the change. The driver object also builds
with W=1. This was not tested on physical LAN743x hardware.

stmmac_tso_xmit() stores the protocol header length returned by
stmmac_tso_header_size() in a u8. stmmac_tso_valid_packet() admits
headers up to 1023 bytes, so a header longer than 255 bytes wraps modulo
256 (486 becomes 230, 256 becomes 0).
A TCP over IPv6 socket carrying a few hundred bytes of sticky
destination/hop-by-hop options makes skb_tcp_all_headers() exceed 255
while staying below the 1023-byte limit, so such an skb reaches
stmmac_tso_xmit().

gem_ptp_init() registers the PTP clock before initializing
bp->tsu_clk_lock and the TSU hardware. Since ptp_clock_register()
publishes the PTP character device, userspace may invoke PTP callbacks
before the lock and hardware are ready.
In addition, gem_ptp_init() is called from both the interface open and
resume paths. Reinitializing tsu_clk_lock there can reset the lock while
timestamp processing is using it.
This race is theoretical and has not been observed in practice.
Initialize tsu_clk_lock once during probe and initialize the TSU before
registering the PTP clock.

stmmac_tso_xmit() estimates the number of free TX descriptors required by
a TSO skb as:
(skb->len - proto_hdr_len) / TSO_MAX_BUFF_SIZE + 1
which assumes the payload is split into TSO_MAX_BUFF_SIZE chunks. This
underestimates the descriptors actually consumed by stmmac_tso_allocator(),
since each fragment is mapped individually and so it needs at least one
descriptor regardless of its size. Moreover, one descriptor is used for
the L2/L3/L4 headers and, when the MSS changes, one more is consumed for
the MSS context descriptor.
For a highly fragmented TSO skb the check can therefore pass even when the
ring has too few free slots. stmmac_tso_allocator() then writes past the
available descriptors, overwriting descriptors still owned by the DMA
engine, corrupting the TX ring.
Add stmmac_tso_get_num_desc() to compute the exact number of descriptors
needed for the header, the linear payload and each fragment, plus the MSS
context descriptor when required, and use it in the availability check.

mana_xdp_set() publishes the new program into apc->bpf_prog before it
allocates anything, because mana_pre_alloc_rxbufs() sizes the buffers

The attach is reported as failed, so the BPF core drops the reference it
held for the caller and the program can be freed, while apc->bpf_prog
still points at it. The next consumer of mana_xdp_get() - typically
mana_chn_setxdp() from mana_alloc_queues() on the following ifup, or
after a TX timeout reset - then calls bpf_prog_add() on freed memory.
This is reachable from an ordinary "ip link set dev ethX xdp obj ..."
whenever the per-queue RX buffer pre-allocation cannot be satisfied.
Restore the previous program on that error path.

phylink_create() decides once and for all that a MAC supports managed
EEE, and it requires the tx_lpi ops plus non-empty lpi_capabilities and
lpi_interfaces. mtk_add_mac() leaves lpi_interfaces empty.
So ever since EEE support was added, ethtool has answered "Not
supported" on every MAC that uses mtk_phylink_ops, and
phy_disable_eee() has locked userspace out of turning EEE on. MT7628
is unaffected, as rt5350_phylink_ops has no tx_lpi methods.
Leave 2.5 Gbps out of both bitmaps, and the xGMII modes that
mtk_mac_enable_tx_lpi() already refuses. MAC_MCR folds SPEED_2500 onto
MAC_MCR_SPEED_1000, so MAC_MCR_EEE1G would govern LPI on such a link,
and that is unvalidated rather than known unsupported: MediaTek's SDK
driver sets the EEE force bits for 100 Mbps and 1 Gbps only, and the
unit of the wakeup timers is undocumented with the port clock at
2.5 times the rate.
mtk_mac_enable_tx_lpi() programs wake-up times taken from MT7531's
reset values, and the SoC's own field has no reset value to fall
back on. Only MT7981 has been seen to exit LPI cleanly with them, so
the LPI interfaces sit behind a new MTK_GMAC_EEE capability that only
MT7981 sets; every other SoC keeps the current behaviour until it has
been confirmed.
LPI stays off until userspace enables it, but the EEE advertisement of
a PHY that advertises it out of reset comes back, since phylink stops
force-clearing it.

check_mbox_seq_id_and_seg_len() validates that seq_id does not
exceed SEQ_ID_MAX_VAL (42) and seg_len does not exceed

(seq_id=42) to carry a full 48-byte payload, writing to offset
42*48=2016 for 48 bytes (ending at byte 2064). The receive
buffer is only MBOX_MAX_BUF_SZ (2048) bytes, resulting in a
16-byte heap buffer overflow.
The hinic3 driver already handles this correctly by defining

KSZ8851 errata sheet DS80000716D-page 4 Module 3 [1] states that,
when issuing a software power-down (PMECR[1:0] = 10) followed by a
power-on (PMECR[1:0] = 00), the receiver circuit can fail to start
properly preventing communication. The Transmitter will still send
data, but no data will be received.
The errata sheet also includes a workaround, which states that,
it is recommended that the software power-down feature not be used.
Implement that workaround and drop the entry into software power-down
mode. The ks8851_write_mac_addr() calls entry into normal power-on
mode at the very beginning of the function, therefore dropping the
second call to enter software power-down mode is sufficient here.
The ks8851_net_stop() can only be called after ks8851_net_start()
was already called, and ks8851_net_start() also makes the MAC enter
normal power-on mode, therefore it is also fine to drop the call to
enter software power-down mode from ks8851_net_stop().
This will lead to a slight increase in power consumption, but it also
fixes a sporadic reliability problem on at least KSZ8851-16MLL, which
is where the problem was reported and this fix was tested.

mana_rdma_remove() sets gd->rdma_teardown to stop
mana_rdma_service_handle() from acting on servicing events, but nothing
ever clears it. A hardware service reset (GDMA_EQE_HWC_RESET_REQUEST)
goes through mana_gd_suspend() -> mana_rdma_remove() and mana_gd_resume()
-> mana_rdma_probe(), so from the first reset onwards every
GDMA_EQE_HWC_SOC_SERVICE event returns early and RDMA suspend/resume
servicing is silently dropped for the life of the device.
gd->is_suspended has the same problem: it is set when servicing removes
the adev and is cleared only by a matching resume. A reset while RDMA is
suspended re-adds the adev but leaves is_suspended set, so a later resume
event calls add_adev() on top of a live gd->adev and leaks it. This is
currently masked by the rdma_teardown bug.
Clear both in mana_rdma_probe(). On the reset path mana_rdma_remove()
has closed the gate and drained the service workqueue, so clear
is_suspended first and re-open the gate with smp_store_release(), paired
with smp_load_acquire() in the handler, so the handler cannot observe an
open gate with a stale is_suspended. On the initial probe path the gate
was never closed and both flags are already clear.
This does not order gd->adev, which add_adev() publishes afterwards. A
servicing event arriving in that window is still dropped, as it is in
mainline today on the initial probe path; closing it needs probe and the
handler to be serialized and is left to a separate change.

Commit 16dfa49406 ("ice: Introduce new parameters in ice_sched_node")
added a sched_node_ids xarray to the port info structure, but never called
xa_destroy on it.
Since xarrays can allocate internal memory, this can result in a memory
leak even if every element in the xarray has been removed.
The xarray is currently embedded in the port_info structure. This appears
to have been done because its use is within functions that take the
port_info as a primary argument.
However, this complicates managing the lifecycle of the field. The
port_info structure is allocated in ice_init_hw() using devm, and it is
not released until the devm cleanup when the driver is unloaded.
The ice_init_hw() function is called in many places, including devlink
reload, and possibly during DDP load after updating the Tx scheduler
layout.
Adding a call of xa_destroy to the ice_deinit_hw() causes Sashiko to raise
multiple concerns due to potential ordering issues and possible ways that
port_info could be a dangling reference.
To handle this, move the sched_node_ids out of port_info and into the hw
structure. All users of the array already have a pointer to hw anyways, and
there is only one sched_node_ids per adapter. While here, remove the overly
verbose comment explaining the nature of the sched_node_ids xarray.
Add the missing xa_destroy to the cleanup path and to ice_deinit_hw(),
ensuring that we properly release the xarray memory.
This was caught by Sashiko during development of unrelated code.

idpf_probe() enables PCIe Precision Time Measurement with
pci_enable_ptm(), which takes a reference on the device and on every
PTM-capable device up the path to the PTM Root.
Neither the probe error path nor idpf_remove() drops that reference, so
the PTM enable counts of this device and of its upstream path stay
elevated with no bound driver, and the device's PTM control bits remain
set. pcim_enable_device() only arranges for pci_disable_device() and
does not undo the PTM enable.
Add the matching pci_disable_ptm() to the common unwind path.
pci_enable_ptm() failure is not fatal here, so guard the call with
pcie_ptm_enabled(): pci_disable_ptm() decrements dev->ptm_enable_cnt
unconditionally and then recurses upstream, so calling it after a failed
enable would drive this device's count negative and wrongly decrement
parents shared with other endpoints.
This issue was identified during our ongoing static-analysis research
while reviewing kernel code.

idpf never drains the Tx/Rx DIM works before freeing the memory they
live in. tx_dim and rx_dim are embedded in struct idpf_q_vector, they
are queued from the NAPI poll via net_dim(), and idpf_vport_intr_rel()
ends with kfree(rsrc->q_vectors). Nothing in the driver cancels them.
idpf_tx_dim_work() and idpf_rx_dim_work() then run on freed memory:
idpf_vport_intr_write_itr() writes the ITR register through
q_vector->intr_reg.tx_itr / rx_itr, void __iomem pointers loaded out of
the freed q_vector. No configuration is needed to get there --
IDPF_ITR_IS_DYNAMIC() is defined as (itr_mode) and idpf_vport_alloc()
initialises both modes to IDPF_ITR_DYNAMIC.
Draining after idpf_vport_intr_napi_dis_all() is not enough on its own.
idpf_net_dim() is called from inside the
"if (napi_complete_done(napi, work_done))" branch of the poll, and
napi_complete_done() has already cleared NAPIF_STATE_SCHED by then.
napi_disable_locked() waits only while (val & (NAPIF_STATE_SCHED |
NAPIF_STATE_NPSVC)), so napi_disable() can return while the poll tail is
still queueing the work, and a plain cancel_work_sync() would be
re-armed behind the drain.
Use disable_work_sync(): schedule_work() on a work with a non-zero
disable count is dropped by clear_pending_if_disabled() before
__queue_work() is reached.
Move idpf_init_dim() to idpf_vport_intr_alloc() so the works are
initialised on every path that can reach the drain -- the three
"goto intr_deinit" sites between idpf_vport_intr_init() and
idpf_vport_intr_ena() get there without the enable side having run.
Nothing re-enables them: rsrc->q_vectors is freed on every exit from
idpf_vport_open() and on every idpf_vport_stop(), so the count dies with
the object.
It is a race, not a deterministic failure -- net_dim() only schedules
once DIM_NEVENTS events have accumulated and the profile index changes.
A KASAN ifup/ifdown loop under load is the way to see it.

FW supports up to 1024 concurrent TPAs, so the FW TPA ID is in the range
0..1023 (see commit ec4d8e7cf0 ("bnxt_en: Add TPA ID mapping logic for
57500 chips.")). bnxt_alloc_agg_idx is intended to wrap the FW ID down to a
software ID which is used to index rxr->rx_tpa, and to generate a mapping
between FW IDs and the wrapped software ID.
On a 57608 with firmware version 233, the firmware advertises 32
concurrent TPAs. As of the commit under fixes, bp->max_tpa on this NIC
is set to 32.
If the software ID from bnxt_alloc_agg_idx is above 31, this results in
an invalid address being loaded on this line:
tpa_info = &rxr->rx_tpa[agg_id];
because rx_tpa is allocated with only bp->max_tpa (32) entries. Writes
to tpa_info later in the code are out of bounds.
This bug results in a crash at boot:

This stack trace is from a crash triggered when an out of bounds rx_tpa
is dereferenced. The invalid write mentioned above is silent in this
particular crash.
Fix this by allocating rx_tpa with bp->max_tpa rounded up to the next
power of 2 (bp->max_tpa_roundup_size) entries and masking the FW TPA ID
with that size, so the wrapped ID can never index past the end of the

bnxt_init_rx_rings() returns an error when bnxt_alloc_one_rx_ring()
fails, but bnxt_init_nic() discards that return value and calls
bnxt_init_chip(), which enables TPA.
If an allocation fails, this could leave rxr->rx_tpa[] partially zeroed
and TPA would be enabled over an array with zeroed entries. This would
lead to a zeroed DMA address being handed out if the agg_idx is
translated to a SW index at a zeroed entry.
Fix this by propagating the error out of bnxt_init_nic(). Both callers
already check its return value and unwind with bnxt_free_skbs() and
bnxt_free_mem(), which tolerate a partially initialized RX ring.

bnxt_rx_ring_reset() frees the ring buffers and then reallocates them,
ignoring the result.
bnxt_alloc_one_rx_ring() can fail in bnxt_alloc_one_tpa_info_data(), which
returns -ENOMEM on the first failed allocation and leaves the remaining
rxr->rx_tpa[] entries zeroed.
The error isn't propagated up, so the loop in bnxt_rx_ring_reset
continues and at the end the code re-enables TPA with partially
unallocated rx_tpa array.
This means that when the agg_id from hardware is mapped to a SW index in
rxr->rx_tpa[], an uninitialized slot can be chosen which would hand a
zero DMA address to the device.
Fix this by falling back to a global reset, which is what the existing
code already does when other functions fail, but unlike the other
failure cases this particular failure has to return because TPA can't
be re-enabled since the allocation failed.

bnxt_alloc_one_tpa_info_data() returns -ENOMEM as soon as one allocation
fails. This leaves the remaining rxr->rx_tpa[] entries zeroed.
bnxt_queue_mem_alloc() discards that return value, so the partially
initialized ring is installed by bnxt_queue_start().
Since the agg_id is picked by the hardware and bnxt_alloc_agg_idx maps
it to a SW index in rxr->rx_tpa[], it is possible that an uninitialized
slot can be chosen which would hand a zero DMA address to the device.
Fix this by checking the return value of bnxt_alloc_one_tpa_info_data

bnxt_queue_mem_alloc() shallow copies the live RX ring into the clone:
memcpy(clone, rxr, sizeof(*rxr));
the code currently clears pointers that the clone owns (such as
rx_agg_bmap), but rx_tpa and rx_tpa_idx_map are left pointing at memory
of the live ring that was cloned.
If an allocation failure happens later and the err_free_tpa_info label
is taken, the live ring's memory can be freed while still in use.
Fix this by initializing the clone's pointers to NULL to prevent live
ring state from being freed inadvertently.

`mlx5e_stats_ts_get()` currently selects either DMA or port timestamp
counters based on `tx_ptp_opened`. This flag is intentionally kept set
once the PTP TX queues have been opened so their statistics remain
available after queue teardown. As a result, DMA timestamps are no
longer reported after switching from port timestamping back to DMA
timestamping.
The function also reads statistics only from the currently active
channels and TCs. Reducing the number of channels or TCs can therefore
drop previously accumulated timestamp counters from the reported value.
Read the persistent channel statistics instead and always include DMA
timestamp counters. Once the PTP TX queues have been opened, also
include the port timestamp counters.
This also drops state_lock. It previously protected live channel/PTP
pointers, the new code only reads persistent channel_stats and
ptp_stats via mlx5e_stats_nch_read(), which is already safe for
lockless stats access.

In mlx5_eswitch_termtbl_put(), the zero-ref cleanup check reads
tt->ref_count after termtbl_mutex has been released. Two concurrent

When ETS TCs with zero bandwidth are configured, the driver programs the
firmware using an alternate representation. On get, it needs
to recognize that representation so those TCs can be translated back and
reported as 0% bandwidth.
The existing detection relied on the programmed bandwidth because it was
enough to identify this representation. However, when a single ETS TC
owns 100% of the bandwidth, its firmware representation becomes the
same as a strict-priority TC, causing zero-bandwidth ETS TCs to be
reported with non-zero bandwidth values.

The CREATE_LAG command is handled asynchronously by queuing a work,
which stores a local copy of ldev->tracker. When the work is processed,
it is possible that the values of the local copy and ldev->tracker have
diverged.
A single CREATE_LAG command programs two related fields into the
firmware: the v2p (virtual-to-physical) map, which selects the physical
egress port for each hash bucket, and the active_port bitmask, which
tells the firmware which physical ports are currently up so it can
redirect QP/TIS away from inactive ports. For the firmware to steer
traffic correctly, both must be derived from the same view of the ports'
link state.
The v2p map is computed by mlx5_infer_tx_affinity_mapping() from the
local tracker snapshot, but lag_active_port_bits() called
mlx5_infer_tx_enabled() on the live ldev->tracker instead. If
ldev->tracker changed between the snapshot and command execution, the
two fields reflect different port states: the v2p map may steer a bucket
to a port that the active_port mask marks as inactive (or vice versa).
The firmware then receives a self-contradictory configuration and can
redirect or drop traffic on a port the mapping still points at, until a
later event happens to reconcile the state.
Update lag_active_port_bits so that it receives the local version of the
tracker from when the work was queued, effectively closing the window
for injecting an inconsistency.

When a user sets a FEC mode via ethtool, the driver maps the ethtool
FEC type to the lowest mlx5 bit of that type. For RS FEC, this is
MLX5E_FEC_RS_528_514 (bit 2). The driver then checks whether this
bit is supported by at least one link mode by inspecting the
fec_override_cap fields via mlx5e_fec_in_caps(), and returns
-EOPNOTSUPP if not.
This check is incorrect. RS FEC has three supported hardware variants:
RS_528_514 (bit 2), RS_544_514_INTERLEAVED_QUAD (bit 4), and
RS_544_514 (bit 7). mlx5e_remap_fec_conf_mode() already remaps bit 2
to the appropriate RS variant per link mode when writing the admin
fields, but the early capability check is done against the raw
unmapped bit. As a result, a device that supports RS_544_514 or
RS_544_514_INTERLEAVED_QUAD but not RS_528_514 will incorrectly reject
the user's RS FEC request.
Remove the early support check from mlx5e_set_fec_mode() and fold
it into the existing write loop, checking caps against the remapped
policy per link mode. Return -EOPNOTSUPP before the final register
write if no link mode accepted the policy.

MANA_FENCE_RQ makes hardware post an additional CQE_RX_OBJECT_FENCE after

rare cases, CQ has no guaranteed slot for the fence CQE when it is full of
packet CQEs. This can lead to dropping the fence completion while the

Reserve one extra CQE slot for CQE_RX_OBJECT_FENCE. mana_gd_alloc_memory()

the unmap on a VF, as pdsc_remove() and pdsc_reset_done() already do.
A reset that completes entirely within the unlocked window is not a
correctness problem for the image: the device clears its update session,
so a resumed download is rejected, and it verifies the staged image
before writing a flash slot, reporting PDS_RC_BAD_FW rather than
activating it.
pdsc_unmap_bars() also clears info_regs, intr_status and intr_ctrl. The
interrupt and start/stop readers of those are quiesced before the unmap
by pdsc_fw_down(), which frees the interrupts and tears down the queues.
The debugfs readers are not, since those files outlive a reset; that is
pre-existing and out of scope here.

Commit 061b9bedbe ("ionic: Rework Tx start/stop flow") replaced
ionic_maybe_stop_tx() with netif_txq_maybe_stop() to get the memory
barriers around the stop/start bits right, but did not cover the stop
in ionic_tx() added by commit 138506ab24 ("ionic: Check stop no
restart"). Convert the remaining site.
netif_txq_maybe_stop() requires the ring indexes to be updated before
it is invoked, so the post has to come first. But ring_dbell comes
from __netdev_tx_sent_queue(), which runs after that and reads the
stop bit, so it is not known in time to pass to ionic_txq_post(). Post
without the doorbell and ring it separately.
The stop condition is unchanged. The re-check only clears the stop bit
when space has become available, so the doorbell starvation fixed by
commit 138506ab24 ("ionic: Check stop no restart") cannot recur.

nfp_net_fs_add() replaces an existing rule by deleting it from the
hardware, decrementing nn->fs.count and programming the new one. If
nfp_net_fs_add_hw() fails the old entry stays on nn->fs.list - only the
success path reaches list_replace() - so the list is one longer than
nn->fs.count, and it advertises a rule whose hardware entry has already
been torn down.
nn->fs.count is what ETHTOOL_GRXCLSRLCNT reports, so userspace then sizes
its buffer one entry short of what the GRXCLSRLALL walk wants to write.
That used to overwrite one u32 past the allocation; since the walk is
bounded it is a permanent -EMSGSIZE instead, as nothing ever resyncs the
counter.

nfp_net_get_fs_loc() dumps every entry of nn->fs.list into rule_locs[]
without consulting cmd->rule_cnt, which is how many entries the caller
had room for. ETHTOOL_GRXCLSRLALL requires no CAP_NET_ADMIN and the
ioctl sizes the buffer from the rule_cnt userspace passes in, so once an
admin has installed flow steering rules any user can ask for fewer slots
than there are rules and run off the end of the allocation. A rule_cnt
of 0 leaves the buffer pointer NULL and the walk dereferences it.
Bail out with -EMSGSIZE when the buffer fills up, the way the other
ntuple capable drivers do, and report how many locations were filled so
a shrinking rule list does not leave the caller reading stale slots.

The version-1 VF mailbox protocol identifies every message with a message
number, and a reply or acknowledgment echoes the number of the message it
answers. ENIC instead generates a new number for outgoing replies and
accepts a VF reply by message type alone.
If a request times out, a delayed reply can therefore satisfy a subsequent
request of the same type and cause the VF to consume the result of the old
request.
Allow replies to reuse the initiating message number. Make the in-tree PF
handlers and the VF link-state acknowledgment echo that number. Record the
expected reply type and message number on the VF, and require both values
to match before accepting a reply.
Protect expected-reply state with a lock so reply acceptance and timeout
invalidation cannot race. Keep message numbers monotonic across an admin-
channel reopen so a delayed reply from an earlier channel generation cannot
match a new request.
Reply-number echo is part of the established version-1 protocol, so this
remains compatible with deployed V2-capable PF implementations that already
echo msg_num.

A V2 VF receives carrier state only from PF MBOX notifications.
enic_stop() forces carrier off, but enic_open() does not request a fresh
notification or restore the previous one. An ordinary down/up cycle
therefore leaves the VF in NO-CARRIER and unable to pass traffic until the
PF repeats the link-state command, even when the physical link remained
up.
Cache each valid PF link-state notification. Serialize updates with the V2
VF datapath running state. Keep carrier off while the netdev is stopped.
Restore the cached state after an ordinary open. Before either internal
reset reopens the datapath, invalidate the cache. Carrier then remains off
until re-registration receives a fresh PF link-state notification.

When the driver receives a burst of packets, it can mark a BD with the
NO_CMPL bit to defer completions. The expectation is that the last
packet in the ring will have this bit unset and the completion generated
by that packet will cleanup that packet and the ones preceding it. This
helps to reduce the number of completions fired.
The suppressed completions are controlled by the driver and the number
of packets with suppressed completions scales with the size of the ring.
SW USO packets, on the other hand, have an upper bound on the maximum
number of BDs which can be consumed which does not scale with the ring
size.
So, for small rings it is possible that: a burst of packets is handed to
the driver, the driver defers completions for all of the packets because
the number of free descriptors stays above the threshold in the driver.
Then, a USO packet arrives, but the number of BDs available is not
enough and the USO code exits early.
In this case, you end up in a state where the ring is full of packets
with their completions suppressed, which can cause the queue to stop and
never be restarted.
Assuming default CONFIG_MAX_SKB_FRAGS, this is only possible for small
rings (<= 457 descriptors, below the driver default value) when
a burst of packets fills the ring, followed by a large USO packet that
can't fit. For larger rings, the delta between the completion
suppression threshold and the BDs required for SW USO is large enough
that completions will fire and this case is unreachable.
This issue was pointed out by Sashiko and while it seems fairly unlikely
given that the queue size must be small to trigger this, it is indeed
possible.
Fix this by tracking the last BD which deferred completions and
centralizing the logic for deciding when to ring the doorbell. The NO_CMPL
bit is now cleared in bnxt_txr_db_kick(), so every doorbell site is
covered, including the SW USO early exit. This guarantees the ring always
ends in a BD which generates a completion to clean it and wake the queue.

Currently mlxsw_sp1_ptp_ht_gc_collect() is run from the PTP
garbage-collection workqueue, rather than the NAPI poll context. For any
unmatched PTP entries carrying an SKB, it calls
mlxsw_sp1_ptp_unmatched_finish() -> mlxsw_sp1_ptp_packet_finish(). For
ingress packets, this calls mlxsw_sp_rx_listener_no_mark_func(). The end
of that function is the following:
skb->protocol = eth_type_trans(skb, skb->dev);
napi_gro_receive(mlxsw_skb_cb(skb)->rx_md_info.napi, skb);
The napi pointer is one that was placed in the SKB control block when the
trapped packet was received in the NAPI context. Later, when the GC reaps
the unmatched entry (up to MLXSW_SP1_PTP_HT_GC_TIMEOUT later), the call to
napi_gro_receive() mutates the NAPI instance's GRO list, which is unsafe
if the poll is running concurrently on another CPU.
In mlxsw_sp1_ptp_ht_gc_collect(), local_bh_disable() is called to prevent
softirq processing, but this only applies to the local CPU. Additionally,
its comment is stale. It states that mlxsw_sp1_ptp_unmatched_finish()
invokes netif_receive_skb(). This has not been accurate since the
referenced commit; this patch makes that comment accurate again.
mlxsw_pci_napi_devs_init() calls netif_threaded_enable() on the NAPI RX
net_device without any conditions. The NAPI instance's poll, which may be
running concurrent to the GC, is running as an independently-scheduled
kthread which may be on a different CPU. The call to local_bh_disable()
does not guard against this.
If a tx-timestamp timeout produces an unmatched entry (which can be easily
reproduced by running ptp4l and waiting for a port to reach the
UNCALIBRATED/SLAVE state) while the owning NAPI thread is in the middle of
a poll on another CPU, both sides mutate the GRO list concurrently, as
shown below:
[39.846] port 1 (swp1): MASTER to UNCALIBRATED on RS_SLAVE

Kernel panic - not syncing: Fatal exception in interrupt
The machinery that leads to this kernel panic has not been changed between
6.18.48 and mainline.
This patch adds an ingress-delivery helper for the PTP packet_finish()
path that calls netif_receive_skb() instead of napi_gro_receive().
netif_receive_skb(), unlike napi_gro_receive(), can be called from outside
of the NAPI instance's poll context, which can occur at the call site for
this path. RX stats accounting and the skb->dev assignment are still
preserved; the only change is the delivery call itself.
This removes GRO batching for any PTP event traffic received by the mlxsw
trap, but given the relatively low volume of traffic characteristic of the
protocol, and impact limited to only Spectrum-1 ASICs, this is an
acceptable solution.

bcmasp_xmit() only wrote txcb->last = true for the final fragment

When oversubscribed traffic causes lot of buffer overflow errors,
probably due to loss of data chunks, driver fails to find a
data chunk with end_valid bit set, before it runs out of sk buffer
space. As a result, assert is seen during skb_put.
Now, check is made if skb buffer has enough tailroom for the
incoming data before accepting. If there is no room, current
frame is abandoned and it will start looking for a data chunk
with start_valid bit, that is a new frame.
SK buffer allocation error is considered as recoverable error.
rx_buf_overflow flag is too specific and no longer the only
condition this flag is used for. Therefore it is renamed as
wait_until_start_valid. This is more appropriate as this flag
is used to look for the next data chunk with SV bit set, after
failures like buffer overflow, buffer allocation failure, skb pointer
validity besides buffer overflow error.

With AF_XDP on a striding RQ, mlx5e defers releasing XSK buffers until
an MPWQE is refilled. If XSK allocation then returns -ENOMEM,
actual_wq_head is not advanced and a later NAPI poll retries the same
WQE.
mlx5e_free_rx_mpwqe() leaves each released slot marked as releasable. On
retry it can therefore call xsk_buff_free() again through stale pointers
after the frames have returned to the XSK pool and been reallocated.
Set all skip_release_bitmap bits in the common error path of
mlx5e_xsk_alloc_rx_mpwqe(). This matches mlx5e_alloc_rx_mpwqe(). A
successful allocation already clears the bitmap after replacing every
buffer, so retries become idempotent without changing the success path.
Fault injection forced three consecutive failures for one selected MPWQE.
Both an early allocation failure and a partial 8-of-16-buffer unwind
released the original 16 XSK buffers only once. Each error left a full
bitmap, the following NAPI retry skipped the release, and a later

When an XDP redirect to an AF_XDP socket fails because its RX ring is
full, the XSK core frees the buffer. During the subsequent batched refill
of a legacy cyclic RQ, mlx5e also releases the WQE's XSK buffer before
allocating a replacement. If that refill succeeds only partially, a WQE
left without a replacement retains its old buffer pointer.
The buffer can meanwhile be allocated to another WQE. A later refill
retry can then free the live buffer through the stale pointer and publish
the same UMEM frame twice.
Mark the WQE as released immediately after the driver-side free. The flag
is already cleared when a replacement buffer is assigned, so refill
retries no longer release stale pointers.
The failure is silent and produces no kernel warning or splat. A
standalone legacy cyclic-RQ zero-copy libxsk reproducer, using 64-byte UDP
traffic offered at 12 Mpps, detected it: stock stopped after 2,854,914
packets in 4.094 seconds, with 4,542 xdp_rx_ring_full events and 64
ownership/double-publication errors. With this change it processed
356,904,225 packets in 30 seconds despite 571,405 xdp_rx_ring_full events,
with no ownership or data errors.

Since the RX path was converted to zero-copy, the page pool page is handed
to the stack directly as the skb head, and the offset the DMA engine writes
at is what determines the alignment of the packet headers.
Before the conversion the payload was copied into an skb obtained from
napi_alloc_skb(), which reserves NET_SKB_PAD + NET_IP_ALIGN. The
conversion moved the headroom into stmmac_rx_offset() but did not carry
over NET_IP_ALIGN, so on architectures where NET_IP_ALIGN is 2 the IP
header now lands misaligned:
64 (NET_SKB_PAD) + 14 (ethernet) + 20 (IP) = 98
Same for the XDP branch:
256 (XDP_PACKET_HEADROOM) + 14 (ethernet) + 20 (IP) = 290
On ARM32 this is fatal, because ldm and ldrd trap on unaligned addresses
even when CONFIG_HAVE_EFFICIENT_UNALIGNED_ACCESS is set.
Any received echo request panics the machine, e.g:

Fix by adding NET_IP_ALIGN back to the RX offset, which restores the
alignment the stack used to get.
Note that commit a955318fe6 ("stmmac: align RX buffers") made a similar
change in 2021 and was reverted by commit 12d125b457 ("stmmac: Revert
"stmmac: align RX buffers"") because it caused packet corruption. That
patch raised the offset from 0 without adjusting the buffer size
accounting, so the DMA engine could arguably write past the end of the RX
buffers, though this was never root caused.
Commit df542f6693 ("net: stmmac: Switch to zero-copy in non-XDP RX

the extra bytes are accounted for.

The gso_enabled_types field is used by stmmac_xmit() to decide whether a
GSO skb should be passed to stmmac_tso_xmit(). It is updated in
stmmac_set_features() based solely on NETIF_F_TSO, so disabling IPv4
TSO while keeping IPv6 TSO (NETIF_F_TSO6) enabled zeroes the mask. As a
result IPv6 GSO frames, which the networking stack still generates since
NETIF_F_TSO6 is enabled, fall through to the non-TSO xmit path where
they are not handled.
The networking stack already manages the GSO logic: a GSO skb is only
delivered to the driver when the matching offload feature (NETIF_F_TSO,
NETIF_F_TSO6 or NETIF_F_GSO_UDP_L4) is enabled, otherwise the frame is
segmented in software before reaching ndo_start_xmit().
stmmac_features_check() also validates each GSO frame against the TSO
hardware constraints and falls back to software GSO when they are not met.
Drop the gso_enabled_types field and rely on skb_is_gso() in
stmmac_xmit() instead, which correctly routes IPv6 GSO frames to the TSO
path when NETIF_F_TSO is disabled. This also removes the data race
between stmmac_set_gso_types(), called from the feature-set path, and
the lockless read of gso_enabled_types in stmmac_xmit().

On dwmac1000, dwmac4 and dwxgmac, we only emit pause frames if there's
at least 4096 bytes in each queue's fifo.
The phylink mac capabilities are still MAC_ASYM_PAUSE | MAC_SYM_PAUSE as
otherwise we won't be able to negotiate 'rx on' pause. ASYM only will
prevent negotiating 'rx off tx on', while SYM only doesn't really
matche the reality (not symmetric if we can only do RX pause).

On dwmac, one of the Unicast filter entries is used to store the local
HW addr. This means that we have to use promisc mode for any kind of
unicast filtering if we only have one slot in our unicast filter.
The number of slots available depends on how the IP is integrated, and
we can't autodiscover how many of these slots we have available, so
the DT property snps,perfect-filter-entries can be used to specify how
many are available.
Most IP variants default to 1 if this isn't specified, which is the case
for the amlogic variants (in this case, S905X3).
The stmmac selftests for UC filtering look if we have enough slots in
the filter to store the dev->uc list, but doesn't account for the
device's own MAC address. The dev->uc list's size we get with
netdev_uc_count() also doesn't account for the HW addr.
As the selftest only requires one available slot, in the case of
single-slot platforms, that means we erroneously consider we have enough
room for the test, when we actually don't, and the filtering test fails.

The MMC counters report MAC statistics. Multiple counters can be
enabled when the IP is integrated, however there's no way to know
exactly which ones. Un-implemented counters seem to report 0.
It was found that on StarFive JH7110 and Amlogic SM1, the counter that's
used by the selftest (mmc_tx_framecount_g) isn't implemented, triggering
an MMC selftest failure.
Both the above SoCs seem to implement mmc_rx_framecount_gb, let's use
this counter as well for MMC counter validation.
Note that this doesn't guarantee that we won't encounter the same issue
again if another IP implements yet another set of counters that don't
include that new one.
If the game of whack-a-mole with implemented counters becomes too hard to
maintain, we may simply consider removing the MMC selftest entirely.

The macros TXGBE_INTR_MISC() and WX_INTR_Q() rely on the standard BIT()
macro to generate interrupt masks based on the queue vector index.
On 32-bit architectures, BIT() evaluates to a 32-bit `unsigned long`.
Since the number of queue vectors can be up to 63 on txgbe devices,
performing a left shift of 32 or more results in an integer overflow
and undefined behavior. This causes incorrect interrupt masking and
unmasking logic for both the queue and miscellaneous interrupts on
32-bit systems.
Fix this by replacing BIT() with BIT_ULL() in these macros. This
ensures that the bitwise shift is always performed safely on a 64-bit
`unsigned long long` type, regardless of the underlying architecture.

When the driver is handed a burst of packets, the doorbell is deferred
until the end. If the last packet has a huge number of frags, but fails

rvu_mbox_init() is called separately for AF-PF mailboxes during probe
and for AF-VF mailboxes when SR-IOV is enabled. Each call used to
allocate a new ng_rvu object, leaking the first allocation when the
pointer was overwritten on the second call.
Sharing one ng_rvu across both paths exposed several teardown bugs:
the error path freed all cn20k mailbox DMA and kfree()d ng_rvu even
when only the failing init type should be unwound, leaving live AF-PF
mailbox memory in use after an AF-VF init failure. mutex_init() was
also re-run on the AF-VF path while AF-PF mailbox handlers could still
hold rvu->mbox_lock. Probe and SR-IOV failure paths did not release
cn20k mailbox DMA either, since cleanup only happened in rvu_remove().
Allocate ng_rvu once with devm_kzalloc(), initialize mbox_lock in the

RAX is index 1024 * PCI_MSIX_ENTRY_SIZE, one entry past the table.
msi_insert_desc() does range check the index, but only against the MSI
domain hwsize, which matches the table only for devices on an MSI parent
domain. With a global PCI/MSI domain hwsize is MSI_XA_DOMAIN_SIZE, so
nothing bounds the request.
Cap num_msix_usable with pci_msix_vec_count().

On an of_property_read_u32() failure, rswitch_get_port_node() set port
to NULL and jumped to the out label before releasing the reference the
for_each_available_child_of_node() iterator was holding on it. Once
port was overwritten with NULL, that reference could never be
released since out: only put "ports", the parent node.
Rework the function around for_each_available_child_of_node_scoped()
instead of adding a manual of_node_put(), so the iterator's reference
is dropped automatically on every exit path. Since port is the
function's return value, take an explicit reference with of_node_get()
on the match before breaking out of the loop.

ENETC v4 has the same problem as ENETC v1: the RX BD ring congestion
mode (CM) is only configured in the phylink .mac_link_up() callback, so
it is cleared when enetc_reconfigure() rebuilds the RX BD rings at
runtime (for example when enabling or disabling PTP RX hardware
timestamping) without a link status change, and it is never restored.
As a result, the MAC can no longer generate PAUSE frames on ingress
congestion and flow control stops working.
Fix it in the same way as ENETC v1. Track the desired CM state in the
software flag ENETC_RXBDR_CM. Route enetc4_set_tx_pause() through the
shared helper enetc_set_congestion_mode(), which sets or clears the flag
according to tx_pause and updates the ENETC_RBMR_CM bit under si->gen_lock.
When the RX BD rings are (re)enabled, enetc_enable_rxbdr() consults this
flag and restores the CM bit accordingly, so flow control survives ring
reconfiguration even when the link status does not change.

The RX ring congestion mode (CM) is only configured in the phylink
.mac_link_up() callback enetc_pl_mac_link_up(), which sets the
ENETC_RBMR_CM bit when tx_pause is enabled. This callback runs only when
the link status changes.
However, enetc_reconfigure() tears down and re-creates the RX BD rings at
runtime without any link status change, for example when attaching or
detaching an XDP program, or when enabling/disabling PTP RX hardware
timestamping. The rings are rebuilt from a cleared RBMR, so the CM bit is
lost. Since the link status does not change, enetc_pl_mac_link_up() is
not called again and the CM bit is never restored.
As a result, the ENETC MAC can no longer generate PAUSE frames on ingress
congestion, and flow control stops working after such a reconfiguration.
Track the desired CM state in a software flag ENETC_RXBDR_CM. Set or clear
this flag in enetc_pl_mac_link_up() according to tx_pause. When the RX BD
rings are (re)enabled, enetc_enable_rxbdr() consults this flag and restores
the ENETC_RBMR_CM bit accordingly, so flow control survives ring
reconfiguration even when the link status does not change.
RBMR is now written as a whole word from enetc_enable_rxbdr() rather than
by read-modify-write from several call sites. Serialize the remaining RBMR
read-modify-write paths, the congestion mode update and the RX VLAN offload
update, with the new si->gen_lock so they cannot race each other.

In stmmac_mtl_setup(), q_node is shared across the RX and TX queue
parsing loops. When the RX queue loop breaks early because the number
of parsed queues reaches plat->rx_queues_to_use, q_node retains an
acquired reference count. If the error check passes
(queue == plat->rx_queues_to_use), execution proceeds directly to the
TX queue loop, where of_get_next_child() immediately overwrites q_node
with the first TX child, permanently leaking the retained RX child
device node reference.
Switch both loops to for_each_child_of_node_scoped() so child node
references are automatically dropped upon loop exit or early break,
and remove the now-unnecessary function-scoped q_node variable and
its manual of_node_put() at the exit label.

rmnet_map_deaggregate() allocates each sub-frame with alloc_skb() and
leaves skb->dev NULL. __rmnet_map_ingress_handler() assigns
skb->dev = ep->egress_dev only on the data path, but a MAP command frame
is dispatched to rmnet_map_command() before that, so rmnet_map_send_ack()
runs netif_tx_lock(skb->dev) on a NULL device. An unprivileged user
reaches this by unsharing a user+net namespace, creating an rmnet link
over a tap device with INGRESS_DEAGGREGATION and INGRESS_MAP_COMMANDS,
and writing an aggregated frame carrying a flow-control command to the
tap fd.
Restore the assignment dropped by 378e25357a, so every skb leaving
rmnet_map_deaggregate() has a valid device.

rvu_register_interrupts() walks every MSI-X vector and uses strstr()
to match "Mbox" or "FLR" in irq_name before pinning those interrupts
to CPU 0. irq_name is a per-vector NAME_SIZE buffer, but not every
slot is populated before this loop runs. strstr() keeps scanning until
it finds a NUL terminator, so an uninitialized slot can trigger a KASAN
slab-out-of-bounds read at boot when debug options are enabled.

The zero-copy path reads TX metadata whenever the UMEM has metadata space,
even if the descriptor does not set XDP_TX_METADATA. Pass descriptor
options through the metadata helpers and ignore metadata unless the option
is set.
This does not fix the existing per-WQE metadata handling for mlx5 MPWQEs.
Only the descriptor that starts a session passes through
xsk_tx_metadata_request() and configures offload state shared by the batch.
Metadata on descriptors joining an open session is therefore not validated
and does not configure its requested offloads. In addition, a non-NULL
metadata pointer from such a descriptor is treated as a timestamp
completion request even when XDP_TXMD_FLAGS_TIMESTAMP is not set, so its
metadata union can be overwritten with an unrequested timestamp. Fixing
mixed metadata states within one MPWQE requires a separate change.

with DMA_TO_DEVICE. This sync direction does not match the pool
dma_dir which is DMA_FROM_DEVICE, violating the DMA API contract
that the sync direction must match the mapping direction.
On swiotlb platforms the mismatch can cause incorrect bounce-buffer
behaviour, and CONFIG_DMA_API_DEBUG emits a warning.
Switch the page_pool dma_dir to DMA_BIDIRECTIONAL so that the
CPU-to-device memset sync becomes legal.

In wx_ptp_set_timestamp_mode(), the driver copies the global `wx->flags`
bitmap to a local variable, modifies the PTP-related bits, and then writes
the entire bitmap back using memcpy().
This Read-Copy-Update pattern is unsafe and introduces a critical race
condition. Other asynchronous contexts (such as Tx timeout routines or
GPIO IRQ handlers) update individual bits in `wx->flags` concurrently
using atomic bitops like set_bit() or clear_bit(). The memcpy() write-back
can silently overwrite and drop these concurrent changes, potentially
causing the driver to miss critical module reset or PCIe recovery requests.
Fix this by removing the local bitmap copy. Instead, evaluate the intended
PTP flag states locally and apply them directly to `wx->flags` using
atomic set_bit() and clear_bit() operations only after the hardware is
successfully configured.

Under memory pressure, the qede driver encounters NULL pointer
dereferences when processing TPA continuation fragments.
Commit 8a8633978b ("qede: Add build_skb() support.") accidentally
dropped the assignment of tpa_info->buffer.data in qede_tpa_start().
When memory pressure causes an SKB allocation failure in qede_tpa_start(),
the driver sets tpa_start_fail = true and attempts to recycle the physical
page later in qede_tpa_end() via qede_reuse_page(). However, because
buffer.data was left uninitialized (NULL), qede_reuse_page() pushes a
"ghost" BD (valid DMA mapping but NULL data pointer) back into the
active Rx ring.
The next time the hardware uses this ring slot, it passes a NULL page
to qede_fill_frag_skb(), causing a kernel panic.
Example crash from production system:
BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at 0x8

recycled. Additionally, update the stale comment for

In txgbe_misc_irq_thread_fn(), the driver unmasks the miscellaneous
interrupt at the end of the handler using TXGBE_INTR_MISC(wx) (which
resolves to BIT(wx->num_q_vectors)). While this is correct for MSI-X
mode, it is incorrect for legacy INTx or single MSI modes.
Due to hardware behavior, the WX_PX_MISC_IVAR register is completely
ignored by the hardware when MSI-X is disabled. In non-MSI-X mode, the
hardware forcibly merges all interrupt causes (both Queue and MISC) into
a single bit: BIT(0) of the interrupt register.
Unconditionally unmasking TXGBE_INTR_MISC(wx) (e.g., BIT(1)) in non-MSI-X
mode means the actual MISC interrupt bit (BIT(0)) is not unmasked
promptly at the end of the MISC thread. Instead, it remains masked until
NAPI completes its polling and unmasks the shared BIT(0). This delays the
assertion of subsequent MISC interrupts, preventing timely handling of
events like link state changes.
Fix this by explicitly checking `pdev->msix_enabled` and falling back
to BIT(0) as the interrupt mask for the MISC cause when MSI-X is disabled.
Additionally, unconditionally unmasking the interrupt at the end of the
thread introduces a race condition during device teardown. Guarding the
wx_intr_enable() call with a check for the WX_STATE_DOWN bit, to prevent
re-arming the interrupt during device shutdown.

sparx5_set_rx_mode() runs with netif_addr_lock_bh held and iterates
dev->mc via __dev_mc_sync(), which per address calls sparx5_mc_sync() /
sparx5_mc_unsync() -> sparx5_mact_learn() / sparx5_mact_forget(). These

sparx5_vcap_init() runs before sparx5_register_netdevs() in probe, and
its debugfs setup calls vcap_port_debugfs() for every port using
netdev_name(ndev) as the debugfs file name. At that point the netdevs
have only been allocated, not registered, so dev->name still holds the
"eth%d" template and netdev_name() returns "(unnamed net_device)".
Every port tries to create the same file under vcaps/, producing a
flood of warnings at boot:
debugfs: '(unnamed net_device)' already exists in 'vcaps'
debugfs: '(unnamed net_device)' already exists in 'vcaps'
...
Add vcap_port_debugfs_portno(), a variant of vcap_port_debugfs() that
takes the port's stable hardware port number and uses "p%u" as the
debugfs file name instead of netdev_name(ndev). This makes the file
name independent of registration order; the file still stores and
later dereferences the netdev itself, same as before. sparx5 already
reports the same "p%d" string via ndo_get_phys_port_name(), so the
debugfs name now matches that.
Only sparx5 (and lan969x, which shares this code) is switched to the
new function. lan966x keeps calling vcap_port_debugfs() unchanged, so
this fix does not rename any of its existing debugfs files.

In bnxt_request_irq(), pcie_enable_tph() is called unconditionally to
enable PCIe TPH when setting up interrupts.
If the NIC hardware or firmware capabilities do not support queue ops,
attempting to enable TPH during bnxt_request_irq() is unnecessary.
As a result a flood of "RX queue restart failed: err=-95" messages is
seen upon boot.
Older NICs (pre-Thor / BCM57414) do not support TPH or queue management.
TPH requires queue management to restart the queue. NICs that support
queue management (with updated FW) all support TPH.
Gate the call to pcie_enable_tph() and setting of bp->tph_mode
behind BNXT_SUPPORTS_QUEUE_API(bp) to ensure TPH is only initialized
on devices capable of supporting queue ops. This prevents a guaranteed
-EOPNOTSUPP error from occurring due to NULL operations.

When a burst of packets is handed down to the driver, the driver defers
the doorbell to the end by setting txr->kick_pending = 1. The normal TX
path handles this, but the SW USO path can miss it if it returns
early.
If bnxt_sw_udp_gso_xmit runs but returns early with NETDEV_TX_BUSY and
txr->kick_pending was previously set to 1, then the TX queue can
stall because the driver wrote some BDs but never wrote the doorbell.
The device won't know to do the TX which would generate the completion
that would wake the queue back up.
Simplify bnxt_sw_udp_gso_xmit to set txr->kick_pending in its success
case and check the flag on return. The added check after
bnxt_sw_udp_gso_xmit returns ensures that any pending doorbells are
written handling both successful USO and any early returns, which
prevents the TX queue stall mentioned above.
This TX queue stall was observed on a production system with a netdev TX
watchdog informing about the queue stall.

- The 5 patch series "Keep tail page private zero at free and folio
split" from Zi Yan adds checks to ensure tail_page->private is zero when
freeing compound or high-order pages and when promoting tail pages
during large folio splits. By validating these fields at free and split
time, it allows the removal of redundant private field clearing inside
prep_compound_tail().
- The 4 patch series "mm: drop redundant lru_add_drain in anon folio
reuse paths" from Barry Song eliminates redundant lru_add_drain() calls
in wp_can_reuse_anon_folio() and do_swap_page() to reduce LRU lock
contention and system overhead.
By validating folio refcounts against the LRU cache before draining
and removing unnecessary drains in the swap path, it achieves up to a
30.5% reduction in drain calls during heavy swap workloads.
- The 3 patch series "mm: clean up folio LRU and swap declarations" from
Jianyue Wu reorganizes folio LRU and swap code by relocating
page-cluster state to mm/swap_state.c, renaming mm/swap.c to mm/folio.c,
and moving MM-internal reclaim declarations into mm/internal.h.
- The 15 patch series "userfaultfd: working set tracking for VM guest
memory" from Kiryl Shutsemau adds userfaultfd support for tracking the
working set of VM guest memory, so a VMM can identify hot pages and
reclaim cold ones to tiered or remote storage.
- The 10 patch series "mm: remove CONFIG_HAVE_BOOTMEM_INFO_NODE (Part
2)" from David Hildenbrand removes the remaining pieces of
CONFIG_HAVE_BOOTMEM_INFO_NODE, performing some smaller cleanups around
freeing of reserved vmemmap pages on the way.
- The 7 patch series "mm/damon: update probe hits for runtime parameter
commits" from SJ Park ensures that DAMON's probe_hits attribute counter
is properly updated when monitoring intervals are changed at runtime,
matching the behavior of nr_accesses. To achieve this, it refactors and
renames existing helper functions for shared use, applies the updates to
probe_hits, and handles edge cases in damon_probe_hits_mvsum() to
maintain measurement accuracy.
- The 3 patch series "KSM: performance optimizations for rmap_walk_ksm"
from xu xin resolves a severe KSM reverse-mapping performance bottleneck
where thousands of split VMAs sharing a single anon_vma cause extended
lock contention. By adding an interval-filtering check during the rmap
walk, it reduces worst-case anon_vma lock hold times from over 500ms
down to under 2ms, preventing application freezes and latency spikes
under memory pressure.
- The 3 patch series "mm: split a couple of headers from internal.h"
from Mike Rapoport splits declarations related to mm_init, memblock,
vmalloc and sparse into new headers.
- The 2 patch series "KSM: use linear_page_index in collect_procs_ksm()"
from xu xin applies the interval tree optimization from rmap_walk_ksm()
to collect_procs_ksm() to avoid iterating over non-matching VMAs during
KSM memory error handling. It hoists loop-invariant address
initialization and restricts the anon_vma_interval_tree_foreach walk to
a targeted page offset range, reducing redundant checks and improving
lookup efficiency.
- The 3 patch series "selftests/mm: avoid false failures in hugetlb and
KSM tests" from Sayali Patil fixes issues in the hugetlb and KSM MM
selftest categories that can report failures when the prerequisites for
the tests are not satisfied.
- The 19 patch series "mm/damon: introduce data attributes only
monitoring" from SJ Park introduces attribute-weighted region management
in DAMON, allowing users to prioritize specific data attributes (such as
page sizes or cgroups) over or instead of access monitoring.
By assigning weights to attribute probes, DAMON can completely disable
access tracking and adjust monitoring regions based on weighted
probe-hit counters to optimize monitoring quality for attribute-focused
workloads.
- The 8 patch series "mm/hmm: Add mmap lock-drop support for
userfaultfd-backed mappings" from Stanislav Kinsburskii extends
hmm_range_fault() to support userfaultfd-backed regions by allowing the
mmap lock to be dropped during fault handling via a new
hmm_range_fault_locked() helper.
By accepting a locked pointer and signaling retry status when lock
release occurs, it enables page fault resolution in userfaultfd regions
while preserving backward compatibility for existing callers.
- The 33 patch series "mm: make VMA page offset handling more
consistent" from Lorenzo Stoakes cleans up and standardizes how
vma->vm_pgoff is accessed and manipulated across file-backed and
anonymous mappings in the kernel.
It introduces dedicated helper functions such as vma_start_pgoff(),
vma_end_pgoff(), vma_set_pgoff() and linear_page_delta() while renaming
rmap interval tree helpers to better reflect their functionality.
These changes establish a cleaner foundation for future work that will
unify virtual page offset indexing for all anonymous and CoW'd folios.
- The 3 patch series "mm: handle device-private PMDs in walk callbacks"
from Usama Arif addresses kernel panics and state corruption caused by
MM walk callbacks reaching non-present device-private PMD swap entries
created during HMM migrations.
It ensures that functions which acquire pmd_trans_huge_lock() properly
recognize device-private PMDs instead of assuming a present THP or a
standard migration entry.
- The 5 patch series "mm/rmap: Refactor try_to_unmap_one" from Dev Jain
refactors try_to_unmap_one by modularizing Hugetlb, anonymous-lazyfree,
and anonymous-swapbacked logic into dedicated functions, laying the
structural groundwork for batched anonymous large folio unmapping.
- The 4 patch series "Docs/ABI/damon: sysfs ABI document fixes and
additions" from Song Hu fixes typos and fills in missing entries in the
DAMON sysfs ABI document.
- The 10 patch series "dax/kmem: atomic whole-device hotplug via sysfs"
from Gregory Price introduces an atomic sysfs state attribute and
supporting DAX/MM infrastructure to prevent userland races when
offlining and removing entire memory regions.
By adding an unplugged state alongside standard online modes, it
enables whole-device atomic hotplug control while preserving backward
compatibility.
- The 13 patch series "mm: convert more vm_flags_t users to vma_flags_t"
from Lorenzo Stoakes continues transitioning the kernel from the
deprecated vm_flags_t type to vma_flags_t across core memory management
infrastructure.
It replaces legacy type usage in core functions such as do_mmap(),
unmapped area allocation, mm->def_vma_flags, and VMA operations like
mlock, mprotect, and mremap.
- The 2 patch series "Two small patches to clean up mm/mm_slot.h" from
xu xin refactors mm_slot.h by introducing mm_slot_remove() to unify
duplicate slot deletion sequences in khugepaged and KSM. It also adds
code documentation explaining why mm_slot_lookup and mm_slot_insert must
remain as preprocessor macros rather than static inline functions.
- The 10 patch series "mm/damon/core: hide core-private struct fields"
from SJ Park cleans up DAMON core structures by consistently marking
internal-only fields with private: comment tags to prevent improper
direct access from outer layers.
It enforces encapsulation across core structures including
damon_region, damon_target, and damon_ctx and updates DAMON_SYSFS to
interact through approved access APIs instead of exposing raw struct
members.
- The 6 patch series "mm/damon: unurgent fixes for infinite loop, NULL
de-ref and races" from SJ Park addresses potential infinite loops, NULL
dereferences, and race conditions identified in DAMON.
It fixes an infinite loop triggered by extreme user configurations, a
NULL pointer dereference within unit tests and minor monitoring
accuracy degradation caused by subtle runtime races.
- The 2 patch series "mm/page_alloc: fixes for free_pages_nolock() on
RT/UP" from Brendan Jackman fixes an NMI safety flaw in
__free_frozen_pages() where freeing pages on non-SMP or PREEMPT_RT
kernels can bypass can_spin_trylock() checks via non-PCP or isolated
migration paths.
It also resolves potential kernel crashes and privilege escalation
risks triggered when BPF tracing runs in NMI context alongside memory
hotplug or large allocation frees.
- The 4 patch series "mm/page_alloc: couple of followups for recent
cleanups" from Brendan Jackman cleans up and updates page allocator
nomenclature, documentation, and debug assertions.
It aligns internal FPI_ flags with the public "nolock" naming
convention, removes outdated internal implementation details from
high-level page allocator comments, and eliminates obsolete VM_BUG_ON()
assertions in allocation paths.
- The 3 patch series "mm/mseal: further cleanups" from Lorenzo Stoakes
refactors and simplifies the mseal implementation by clarifying API
boundaries and removing unnecessary code complexity.
It replaces generic do_mseal() usage outside the syscall with a
dedicated mseal_mmap_page_zero() helper for MMAP_PAGE_ZERO, eliminates
mm_struct parameters to enforce that sealing applies only to
current->mm, and streamlines overall logic and comments with no
functional changes intended.
- The 4 patch series "mm/vmscan: fix swappiness=max and clean up
per-node proactive reclaim" from Ridong Chen resolves reclaim behavior
bugs and cleans up function parameters across memory reclaim paths.
It fixes swappiness=max in both standard reclaim and MGLRU so
unswappable anonymous memory no longer falls back to evicting page
cache, ensures reclaim_store() returns accurate error codes instead of
collapsing all failures into -EAGAIN, and removes the obsolete gfp_mask
parameter from __node_reclaim().
- The 6 patch series "mm: mincore: misc cleanups" from Kefeng Wang
cleans up and simplifies the mincore code. Most importantly, it removes
the historical special behavior that always reports VM_PFNMAP pages as
non-resident.
- The 2 patch series "mm/huge_memory: drop dead split helper variants"
from Kiryl Shutsemau implements two trivial cleanups in the folio split
API.
- The 7 patch series "mm/damon: fix uninitialized DAMOS field and kunit
exec expectation bugs" from SJ Park resolves minor operational and
testing bugs in DAMON identified by Sashiko. It initializes the
damos->last_applied field to prevent occasional efficiency degradation
and fixes invalid memory accesses in DAMON KUnit tests during test
failure handling.
- The 3 patch series "cleanup for stable_page_flags()" from Jinjiang Tu
cleans up and refactors stable_page_flags() used by /proc/kpageflags
without altering functionality.
It uses BIT_ULL() to prevent shift-overflow warnings on 64-bit flag
bits, converts folio-specific flag checks to standard folio_test_*()
helpers, and removes redundant CONFIG_PAGE_IDLE_FLAG handling.
- The 3 patch series "Batch unmap of uffd-wp file folios" from Dev Jain
extends batched folio unmapping support to file folios within
userfaultfd write-protect (uffd-wp) VMAs by adding batching capabilities
to pte_install_uffd_wp_if_needed().
This removes special-case restrictions on uffd-wp VMAs in
try_to_unmap_one(), significantly simplifying the function's control
flow and complexity.
- The 3 patch series "mm/early_ioremap: clarify and clean up
early_ioremap_reset()" from Sang-Heon Jeon clarifies and cleans up the
architecture-specific usage of __late_set_fixmap() and
__late_clear_fixmap() after early_ioremap_reset().
It adds explicit documentation regarding when early_ioremap_reset()
must be called and removes redundant macro definitions and reset calls
in the RISC-V and ARM64 architectures.
- The 4 patch series "mm: fix reclaim storms in defrag_mode" from
Johannes Weiner addresses severe performance regressions, swap storms,
and spurious OOMs caused by vm.defrag_mode=1 under high memory pressure
in Meta production.
It updates the page allocator slowpath so non-movable allocation
requests actively trigger direct reclaim and direct compaction at
pageblock_order scale, allowing them to claim whole pageblocks rather
than spinning unproductively.
- The 2 patch series "zram: lockmap tweaks" from Sebastian Siewior
optimizes and fixes lockdep tracking for zram devices by consolidating
per-entry lockmaps and isolating lock classes across multiple instances.
It reduces memory overhead by replacing per-entry lockdep_map instances
with a single map per struct zram, and assigns a dynamic lock_class_key
to each instance to prevent false deadlock reports when different zram
devices are backed by distinct filesystems.

pages on the way.
- "mm/damon: update probe hits for runtime parameter commits" (SJ Park)
Ensure that DAMON's probe_hits attribute counter is properly updated
when monitoring intervals are changed at runtime, matching the
behavior of nr_accesses. To achieve this, it refactors and renames
existing helper functions for shared use, applies the updates to
probe_hits, and handles edge cases in damon_probe_hits_mvsum() to
maintain measurement accuracy.
- "KSM: performance optimizations for rmap_walk_ksm" (xu xin)
Resolve a severe KSM reverse-mapping performance bottleneck where
thousands of split VMAs sharing a single anon_vma cause extended lock
contention.
By adding an interval-filtering check during the rmap walk, it

Extend the net/ionic firmware identity structure to expose
the rcq_sign_bit field from the RDMA LIF identity.

net: ionic: Fetch RCQ sign bit from firmware
====================

The unified ROM parser reads directory, product, and data-descriptor fields
from the firmware file. Existing validation forms table and data ends with
unchecked additions and multiplications. Malformed values can wrap before
they are compared with the firmware size. The parser also dereferences
typed pointers at firmware-controlled offsets.
Valid descriptor extents alone are insufficient for the consumers. The
loader reads a fixed-size bootloader regardless of its declared size, the
version parser assumes a 17-byte tail, and a partial final firmware word is
read as a full u64. A truncated image can therefore make the driver read
beyond the firmware allocation during validation or loading.
Replace the pointer-returning parser with bounded range helpers. Validate
table entry sizes, descriptor indices, section ranges, the fixed
bootloader load length, and the version tail before exposing any section.
Read all file fields with unaligned little-endian accessors and assemble a
