We have a few paths where we schedule the tick work immediately without
changing the resched_target. If the tick was stopped, this would lead
to a remaining_jiffies that's always > 0, and it wouldn't force a full
tick in that case. Add extra checks to cover that case properly.

When rotating group priorities, we want the group with the
highest priority to go back to the end of the queue, and all
other active groups to get their priority bumped, otherwise
some groups will never get a chance to run with the highest
priority. This implies moving the rotation itself to
tick_work(), and only dealing with old group ordering in
tick_ctx_insert_old_group().

Not only this only works once, because of how extract events work
(event is enabled if the req and ack bit differ, and it's signalled
by the FW by setting identical req and ack, to re-enable the event,
we need to toggle the bit, which we never do). But more importantly,
we never do anything with this event, so we're better off dropping it
when programming the CS slot.

csg_slot_sync_queues_state_locked() queries the queues state which can
then be used to determine if a group is idle or not. Let's base our
idleness detection logic solely on the {idle,blocked}_queues masks to
avoid inconsistencies between the group state and the state of its
subqueues.

Groups are only moved out of the runnable lists when
panthor_group_stop() is called or when they run out of jobs.
What should not happen though is having one group added to one of
the runnable list after reset.in_progress has been set to true, but
that's not something we can easily check, so let's just drop the
WARN_ON() in panthor_sched_pre_reset().

There's no reason for panthor_vm_[un]map_pages() to fail unless the
drm_gpuvm state and the page table are out of sync, so let's reflect that
by making panthor_vm_unmap_pages() a void function and adding
WARN_ON()s in various places. We also try to recover from those
unexpected mismatch by checking for already unmapped ranges and skipping
them. But there's only so much we can do to try and cope with such
SW bugs, so when we see a mismatch, we flag the VM unusable and disable
the AS to avoid further GPU accesses to the memory.
It could be that the as_disable() call fails because the MMU unit is
stuck, in which case the whole GPU is frozen, and only a GPU reset can
unblock things. Ater the reset, the VM will be seen as unusable and
any attempt to re-use it will fail, so we should be covered for any
use-after-unmap issues.

Move the lock/flush_mem operations around the gpuvm_sm_[un]map() calls
so we can implement true atomic page updates, where any access in the
locked range done by the GPU has to wait for the page table updates
to land before proceeding.
This is needed for vkQueueBindSparse(), so we can replace the dummy
page mapped over the entire object by actual BO backed pages in an atomic
way. But it's also useful to avoid "AS_ACTIVE bit stuck" failures in
the sm_[un]map() path, leading to gpuvm state inconsistencies.

We have seen a few cases where the whole memory subsystem is blocked
and flush operations never complete. When that happens, we want to:
- schedule a reset, so we can recover from this situation
- in the reset path, we need to reset the pending_reqs so we can send
new commands after the reset
- if more panthor_gpu_flush_caches() operations are queued after
the timeout, we skip them and return -EIO directly to avoid needless
waits (the memory block won't miraculously work again)
Note that we drop the WARN_ON()s because these hangs can be triggered
with buggy GPU jobs created by the UMD, and there's no way we can
prevent it. We do keep the error messages though.

The meat in lock_region() is about packing a region range into a
single u64. The rest is just a regular reg write plus a
as_send_cmd_and_wait() call that can easily be inlined in
mmu_hw_do_operation_locked().

There's currently no situation where we want to issue a command to an
AS and not wait for this command to complete. The wait is either
explicitly done (LOCK, UNLOCK) or it's missing (UPDATE). So let's
turn write_cmd() into as_send_cmd_and_wait() that has the wait after

This commit prevents the possibility of a use after free issue in the
GROUP_CREATE ioctl function, which arose as pointer to the group is
accessed in that ioctl function after storing it in the Xarray.
A malicious userspace can second guess the handle of a group and try
to call GROUP_DESTROY ioctl from another thread around the same time
as GROUP_CREATE ioctl.
To prevent the use after free exploit, this commit uses a mark on an
entry of group pool Xarray which is added just before returning from
the GROUP_CREATE ioctl function. The mark is checked for all ioctls
that specify the group handle and so userspace won't be abe to delete
a group that isn't marked yet.

Make sure the queue slot is reset even if we failed termination so
we don't have garbage in the CS input interface after a reset. In
practice that's not a problem because we zero out all RW sections when
a hangs occurs, but it's safer to reset things manually, in case we
decide to not conditionally reload RW sections based on the type of
hang.

The timeout logic provided by drm_sched leads to races when we try
to suspend it while the drm_sched workqueue queues more jobs. Let's
overhaul the timeout handling in panthor to have our own delayed work
that's resumed/suspended when a group is resumed/suspended. When an
actual timeout occurs, we call drm_sched_fault() to report it
through drm_sched, still. But otherwise, the drm_sched timeout is
disabled (set to MAX_SCHEDULE_TIMEOUT), which leaves us in control of
how we protect modifications on the timer.
One issue seems to be when we call drm_sched_suspend_timeout() from
both queue_run_job() and tick_work() which could lead to races due to
drm_sched_suspend_timeout() not having a lock. Another issue seems to
be in queue_run_job() if the group is not scheduled, we suspend the
timeout again which undoes what drm_sched_job_begin() did when calling
drm_sched_start_timeout(). So the timeout does not reset when a job
is finished.

Log the number of pages and their sizes actually mapped/unmapped by
the IOMMU page table driver. Since a map/unmap op is often split in
several ops depending on the underlying scatter/gather table, add the
start address and the total size to the debugging logs in order to
help understand which batch an op is part of.

Add support for the 64-bit endpoint_req register introduced in CSF v4.0+
GPUs. Unlike a simple register widening, the 64-bit variant occupies the
next 64 bits after the original 32-bit field, requiring
version-dependent access.
This change introduces helper functions to read, write, and update the
endpoint_req register, ensuring correct handling on both pre-v4.0 and
v4.0+ firmwares.

Add support for the GLB_REQ.STATE field introduced in CSF v4.1+, which
replaces the HALT bit to provide finer control over the MCU state. This
change implements basic handling for transitioning the MCU between
ACTIVE and HALT states on Mali-G1 GPUs.
The update introduces new helpers to issue the state change requests,
poll for MCU halt completion, and restore the MCU to an active state
after halting.

This patch adds common helpers to issue power commands, poll
transitions, and validate domain state, then wires them into the L2
on/off paths.
The L2 power-on sequence now delegates control of the SHADER and TILER
domains to the MCU when allowed, while the L2 itself is never delegated.
On power-off, dependent domains beneath the L2 are checked, and if
necessary, retracted and powered down to maintain proper domain
ordering.

Add the new panthor_pwr module, which provides basic power control
management for Mali-G1 GPUs. The initial implementation includes
infrastructure for initializing the PWR_CONTROL block, requesting and
handling its IRQ, and checking for PWR_CONTROL support based on GPU
architecture.
The patch also integrates panthor_pwr with the device lifecycle (init,
suspend, resume, and unplug) through the new API functions. It also
registers the IRQ handler under the 'gpu' IRQ as the PWR_CONTROL block
is located within the GPU_CONTROL block.

This patch adds the framework for binding to a specific panthor_hw
structure based on the architecture major value parsed from the GPU_ID
register. This is in preparation of enabling architecture-specific
behaviours based on GPU_ID. As such, it also splits the GPU_ID register
read operation into its own helper function.
This framework allows a single panthor_hw structure to be shared across
multiple architectures should there be minimal changes between them via
the arch_min and arch_max field of the panthor_hw_entry structure,
instead of duplicating the structure across multiple architectures.

The kernel BOs unnecessarily got added to the external objects list
of drm_gpuvm, when mapping to GPU, which would have resulted in few
extra CPU cycles being spent at the time of job submission as
drm_exec_until_all_locked() loop iterates over all external objects.
Kernel BOs are private to a VM and so they share the dma_resv object of
the dummy GEM object created for a VM. Use of DRM_EXEC_IGNORE_DUPLICATES
flag ensured the recursive locking of the dummy GEM object was ignored.
Also no extra space got allocated to add fences to the dma_resv object
of dummy GEM object. So no other impact apart from few extra CPU cycles.
This commit sets the pointer to dma_resv object of GEM object of
kernel BOs before they are mapped to GPU, to prevent them from
being added to external objects list.

The shmem layer zeroes out the new pages using cached mappings, and if
we don't CPU-flush we might leave dirty cachelines behind, leading to

On SoCs where the GPU's power-domain is in charge of setting performance
levels, the OPP table of the GPU node will have already been populated
during said power-domain's attach_dev operation.
To avoid initialising an OPP table twice, only set the OPP regulator and
the OPPs from DT if there's no OPP table present.

As it stands, panthor keeps a cached current frequency value for when it
wants to retrieve it. This doesn't work well for when things might
switch frequency without panthor's knowledge.
Instead, implement the get_cur_freq operation, and expose it through a
helper function to the rest of panthor.

If the MMU is down, panthor_vm_unmap_range() might return an error.
We expect the page table to be updated still, and if the MMU is blocked,
the rest of the GPU should be blocked too, so no risk of accessing
physical memory returned to the system (which the current code doesn't
cover for anyway).
Proceed with the rest of the cleanup instead of bailing out and leaving
the va_node inserted in the drm_mm, which leads to UAF when other
adjacent nodes are removed from the drm_mm tree.

There is a race between panthor_device_unplug() and
panthor_device_suspend() which can lead to IRQ handlers running on a
powered down GPU. This is how it can happen:
- unplug routine calls drm_dev_unplug()
- panthor_device_suspend() can now execute, and will skip a lot of
important work because the device is currently marked as unplugged.
- IRQs will remain active in this case and IRQ handlers can therefore
try to access a powered down GPU.
The fix is simply to take the PM ref in panthor_device_unplug() a
little bit earlier, before drm_dev_unplug().

A previous change, "drm/panthor: Fix UAF race between device unplug and
FW event processing", fixes a real issue where new work was unexpectedly
queued after cancellation. This was fixed by a disable instead.
Apply the same disable logic to other device level async work on device
unplug as a precaution.

The function panthor_fw_unplug() will free the FW memory sections.
The problem is that there could still be pending FW events which are yet
not handled at this point. process_fw_events_work() can in this case try
to access said freed memory.
Simply call disable_work_sync() to both drain and prevent future
invocation of process_fw_events_work().

object if something fails in group_create_queue(). Make sure we don't
call drm_sched_entity_destroy() on an entity that hasn't been

Instead of manually deferring cleanup of vm_bos, use the new GPUVM
infrastructure for doing so.
To avoid manual management of vm_bo refcounts, the panthor_vma_link()
and panthor_vma_unlink() methods are changed to get and put a vm_bo
refcount on the vm_bo. This simplifies the code a lot. I preserved the
behavior where panthor_gpuva_sm_step_map() drops the refcount right away
rather than letting panthor_vm_cleanup_op_ctx() do it later.

Currently the Panthor driver needs the GPU to be powered down
between suspend and resume. If this is not done, then the
MCU_CONTROL register will be preserved as AUTO, which again will
cause a premature FW boot on resume. The FW will go directly into
fatal state in this case.
This case needs to be handled as there is no guarantee that the
GPU will be powered down after the suspend callback on all platforms.
The fix is to call panthor_fw_stop() in "pre-reset" path to ensure
the MCU_CONTROL register is cleared (set DISABLE). This matches
well with the already existing call to panthor_fw_start() from the
"post-reset" path.

Commit de85488138 ("drm/panthor: Add the scheduler logical block")
handled destruction of a group's queues' drm scheduler entities early
into the group destruction procedure.
However, that races with the group submit ioctl, because by the time
entities are destroyed (through the group destroy ioctl), the submission
procedure might've already obtained a group handle, and therefore the
ability to push jobs into entities. This is met with a DRM error message
within the drm scheduler core as a situation that should never occur.
Fix by deferring drm scheduler entity destruction to queue release time.

Userspace relies on the ring field of gpu_scheduler tracepoints to
identify a drm_gpu_scheduler. The value of the ring field is taken from
sched->name.
Because we typically have multiple schedulers running in parallel in
each process, assign unique names to schedulers such that userspace can
distinguish them.

The only callers to mmu_hw_do_operation_locked() pass an 'op' of either
AS_COMAND_FLUSH_MEM or AS_COMMAND_FLUSH_PT. This means the code paths
after that are dead. Removing those paths means the
mmu_hw_do_flush_on_gpu_ctrl() function might has well be inlined.
Simplify everything by having a switch statement for the type of 'op'
(warning if we get an unexpected value) and removing the dead cases.

Since all users of gem.gpuva.lock_dep_map now rely on the mutex directly
in gpuva, we may remove it. Whether the mutex is used is now tracked by
a flag in gpuvm rather than by whether lock_dep_map is null.
Note that a GEM object may not be pushed to multiple gpuvms that
disagree on the value of this new flag. But that's okay because a single
driver should use the same locking scheme everywhere, and a GEM object
is driver specific (when a GEM is exported with prime, a new GEM object
instance is created from the backing dma-buf).
The flag is present even with CONFIG_LOCKDEP=n because the intent is
that the flag will also cause vm_bo cleanup to become deferred. However,
that will happen in a follow-up patch.

As the FLUSH_MEM and FLUSH_PT MMU_AS commands are deprecated in GPUs
from Mali-Gx20 onwards, this patch adds support for performing cache
maintenance via the FLUSH_CACHES command in GPU_COMMAND in place of
FLUSH_MEM and FLUSH_PT commands.
Mali-Gx10 and Mali-Gx15 GPUs also has support for the FLUSH_CACHES
command and will also use this by default going forward.

In certain scenarios, it is possible for multiple cache flushes to be
requested before the previous one completes. This patch introduces the
cache_flush_lock mutex to serialize these operations and ensure that
any requested cache flushes are completed instead of dropped.

information about GPU-wide supported features. The register value will
be passed on to userspace via gpu_info.
Additionally, Mali-Gx15 presents an 'Immortalis' naming variant

This patch introduces panthor_hw and moves the initialization of the
gpu_info struct into panthor_hw.c in preparation of handling future GPU
register and naming changes.
Future GPU support can be added by extending panthor_gpu_info_init()
with the necessary register reads behind GPU architecture version guards
if the change is minor. For more complex changes, the function can be
forked and the appropriate function will need to be called based on the
GPU architecture version.

We would like to report them on gpu errors.
We choose to save the info on panthor_group_create rather than on
panthor_open because, when the two differ, we are more interested in the
task that created the group.

When bailing out due to group_priority_permit() failure, the queue_args
need to be freed. Fix it by rearranging the function to use the
goto-on-error pattern, such that the success case flows straight without
indentation while error cases jump forward to cleanup.

Among the scheduler's statuses, the only one that indicates an error is
DRM_GPU_SCHED_STAT_ENODEV. Any status other than DRM_GPU_SCHED_STAT_ENODEV
signifies that the operation succeeded and the GPU is in a nominal state.
However, to provide more information about the GPU's status, it is needed
to convey more information than just "OK".
Therefore, rename DRM_GPU_SCHED_STAT_NOMINAL to
DRM_GPU_SCHED_STAT_RESET, which better communicates the meaning of this
status. The status DRM_GPU_SCHED_STAT_RESET indicates that the GPU has
hung, but it has been successfully reset and is now in a nominal state
again.

The object is potentially already gone after the drm_gem_object_put().
In general the object should be fully constructed before calling
drm_gem_handle_create(), except the debugfs tracking uses a separate
lock and list and separate flag to denotate whether the object is
actually initialized.
Since I'm touching this all anyway simplify this by only adding the
object to the debugfs when it's ready for that, which allows us to
delete that separate flag. panthor_gem_debugfs_bo_rm() already checks
whether we've actually been added to the list or this is some error
path cleanup.

panthor_gpu_block_power_on() takes a register offset (rdy_reg) for the
purpose of waiting for the power transition to complete. However, a
copy/paste error converting to use the new 64 register functions
switched it to using the pwrtrans_reg register instead. Fix the function
to use the correct register.

Currently, we pick the MMIO offset based on the size of the pgoff_t
type seen by the process that manipulates the FD, such that a 32-bit
process can always map the user MMIO ranges. But this approach doesn't
work well for emulators like FEX, where the emulator is a 64-bit binary
which might be executing 32-bit code. In that case, the kernel thinks
it's the 64-bit process and assumes DRM_PANTHOR_USER_MMIO_OFFSET_64BIT
is in use, but the UMD library expects DRM_PANTHOR_USER_MMIO_OFFSET_32BIT,
because it can't mmap() anything above the pgoff_t size.
In order to solve that, we need a way to explicitly set the user MMIO
offset from the UMD, such that the kernel doesn't have to guess it
from the TIF_32BIT flag set on user thread. We keep the old behavior
if DRM_PANTHOR_SET_USER_MMIO_OFFSET is never called.

This will be used in a later commit to trace the drm client_id in
some of the gpu_scheduler trace events.
This requires changing all the users of drm_sched_job_init to
add an extra parameter.
The newly added drm_client_id field in the drm_sched_fence is a bit
of a duplicate of the owner one. One suggestion I received was to
merge those 2 fields - this can't be done right now as amdgpu uses
some special values (AMDGPU_FENCE_OWNER_*) that can't really be
translated into a client id. Christian is working on getting rid of
those; when it's done we should be able to squash owner/drm_client_id
together.

Commit a3707f53eb ("drm/panthor: show device-wide list of DRM GEM
objects over DebugFS") causes a build warning and linking error when
built without support for DebugFS, because of a non-inline non-static
function declaration in a header file.
On top of that, the function is only being used inside a single
compilation unit, so there is no point in exposing it as a global
symbol.
This is a follow-up from Arnd Bergmann's first fix.
Also move panthor_gem_debugfs_set_usage_flags() into panthor_gem.c and
declare it static.

Add a device DebugFS file that displays a complete list of all the DRM
GEM objects that are exposed to UM through a DRM handle.
Since leaking object identifiers that might belong to a different NS is
inadmissible, this functionality is only made available in debug builds
with DEBUGFS support enabled.
File format is that of a table, with each entry displaying a variety of
fields with information about each GEM object.
Each GEM object entry in the file displays the following information
fields: Client PID, BO's global name, reference count, BO virtual size,
BO resize size, VM address in its DRM-managed range, BO label and a GEM
state flags.
There's also a usage flags field for the type of BO, which tells us
whether it's a kernel BO and/or mapped onto the FW's address space.
GEM state and usage flag meanings are printed in the file prelude, so
that UM parsing tools can interpret the numerical values in the table.

Kernel BO's aren't exposed to UM, so labelling them is the responsibility
of the driver itself. This kind of tagging will prove useful in further
commits when want to expose these objects through DebugFS.
Expand panthor_kernel_bo_create() interface to take a NUL-terminated
string. No bounds checking is done because all label strings are given
as statically-allocated literals, but if a more complex kernel BO naming
scheme with explicit memory allocation and formatting was desired in the
future, this would have to change.

Add a new character string Panthor BO field, and a function that allows
setting it from within the driver.
Driver takes care of freeing the string when it's replaced or no longer
needed at object destruction time, but allocating it is the responsibility
of callers.

Right now the DRM_PANTHOR_BO_NO_MMAP flag is ignored by
panthor_ioctl_bo_mmap_offset(), meaning BOs with this flag set can
have a file offset but can't be mapped anyway, because
panthor_gem_mmap() will filter them out.
If we error out at mmap_offset creation time, we can get rid of
panthor_gem_mmap() and call drm_gem_shmem_object_mmap directly, and
we get rid of this inconsistency of having an mmap offset for a
BO that can never be mmap-ed.

Instead of testing import_attach for imported GEM buffers, invoke
drm_gem_is_imported() to do the test. The helper tests the dma_buf
itself while import_attach is just an artifact of the import. Prepares

Interrupts are automatically unmasked in
panthor_mmu_irq_threaded_handler() when the handler returns. Unmasking
prematurely might generate spurious interrupts if the IRQ line is
shared.

MMU handler needs to be in control of the job interrupt clears because
clearing the interrupt also unblocks the writer/reader that triggered
the fault, and we don't want it to be unblocked until we've had a chance
to process the IRQ.
Since clearing the clearing is just one line, let's make it explicit
instead of doing it in the generic code path.
Note that this commit changes the existing behavior in that the MMU
COMPLETED irqs are no longer cleared, which is fine because they are
masked, so we're not risking an interrupt flood.

When we clear the faulty bits in the AS mask, we also need to update

When the device is coherent, panthor_gpu_coherency_init() will read
GPU_COHERENCY_FEATURES to make sure the GPU supports the ACE-Lite
coherency protocol, which will fail if the clocks/power-domains are
not enabled when the read is done. Move the
panthor_gpu_coherency_init() call after the device has been resumed
to prevent that.

Assigning a string to an array which is too small to include the NUL
byte at the end causes a warning on some compilers. But this function
also has some other oddities like the 'header' array which is only ever
used within sizeof().
Tidy up the function by removing the 'header' array, allow the NUL byte
to be present in git_sha_header, and calculate the length directly from
git_sha_header.

Commit 434e5ca5b5 ("drm/panthor: Expose size of driver internal BO's over
fdinfo") locks the VMS xarray, to avoid UAF errors when the same VM is
being concurrently destroyed by another thread. However, that puts the
current thread in atomic context, which means taking the VMS' heap locks
will trigger a warning as the thread is no longer allowed to sleep.
Because in this case replacing the heap mutex with a spinlock isn't
feasible, the fdinfo handler no longer traverses the list of heaps for
every single VM associated with an open DRM file. Instead, when a new heap
chunk is allocated, its size is accumulated into a pool-wide tally, which
also makes the atomic context code path somewhat faster.

group samples") introduced an xarray lock to deal with potential
use-after-free errors when accessing groups fdinfo figures. However, this
toggles the kernel's atomic context status, so the next nested mutex lock

drm_sched_init() has a great many parameters and upcoming new

'priorities_info' is uninitialized, and the uninitialized value is copied
to user object when calling PANTHOR_UOBJ_SET(). Using memset to initialize
'priorities_info' to avoid this garbage value problem.
