selftests/bpf: Test stack-passed struct_ops arena arguments
Add a test_arena_stack member with eight leading scalar arguments so the arena pointer is passed on the stack. The callback validates the first and last scalar ctx slots before dereferencing the pointer in ctx[8]. This exercises the indirect trampoline stack layout and arena conversion together, and prevents a regression where stack arguments are read one slot late. selftests/bpf: Add struct_ops __arena and __arena__nullable argument tests
Add test_arena and test_arena_nullable members to bpf_testmod_ops3 with arena-tagged stub arguments and kfuncs that forward a caller-provided pointer to them. The kfuncs take arena-tagged arguments, so each round trip exercises both conversion directions end to end: the kfunc receives a kernel arena address and the trampoline converts it back to an arena pointer for the callback. The non-nullable callback dereferences its argument with no NULL branch and captures the raw ctx value, which the trigger program compares against the arena offset of the passed object, pinning the exact (u32)(kaddr - kern_vm_start) conversion. The nullable callback verifies that only a true kernel NULL arrives as NULL. Failure coverage: a program with no arena is rejected when it loads. The tests run on x86-64 and skip elsewhere, as the programs fail verification where the JIT lacks arena argument support. selftests/bpf: Add JIT-sequence tests for __arena kfunc arguments
Pin the exact rebase sequences the JITs emit for __arena and __arena__nullable kfunc arguments with __jited assertions on x86-64: the unconditional truncate-and-add, the nullable test-and-skip variant, and all five argument registers in one call, which also covers the REX-prefixed encoding of r8 on x86. The capture kfuncs take the argument without dereferencing, so only the emitted code is under test. The tests skip without LLVM disassembler support. selftests/bpf: Add kfunc __arena and __arena__nullable argument tests
Add arena-argument kfuncs to bpf_testmod, which also exercises the argument rebasing on module kfuncs, and tests covering the accepted argument forms (arena pointer, low 32 bits as a scalar, full user address as a scalar), the exact rebase semantics via capture kfuncs returning the raw argument (zero low 32 bits arrive as the arena kernel base under __arena and as NULL under __arena__nullable), five arena arguments in one call, a mixed __arena plus __arena__nullable call exercising both bitmasks on one call site, a kernel-side dereference of an unpopulated page recovering through the scratch page, and the rejections (no arena in the program, incompatible register type). The tests run on x86-64 and skip elsewhere, as programs with arena-tagged kfunc args fail verification where the JIT lacks support. selftests/bpf: Verify zext_dst annotations for various instructions
Includes the following test cases: - a test showing that zero extension flags do not propagate through state pruning in the unpatched kernel. - a 32-bit subregister consumed by MOV32 and ALU32 operations (never zext'ed); - a 64-bit MOV (never zext'ed); - a narrow (32-bit) BPF_LDX load whose result is read as 64-bit; - 32-bit atomic fetch_add and cmpxchg whose result is read as 64-bit; - a CFG case where a 32-bit definition's upper half is used only on one of two branches; - no zext for dead registers; - LD_ABS defines only lower 32 bits, hence needs zext when the result is used as 64-bits; - helper, kfunc and subprogram parameters are considered to use full 64 bits; - a 32-bit subregister consumed by JMP32 (X/K) operations; - a 32-bit subregister consumed by JMP (X/K) operations; - a 64-bit register consumed by both JMP and JMP32 operations (never zext'ed); - ALU64 and address space cast operations on arena pointers; - memory loads using BPF_PROBE_MEM instructions. bpf: Do not print a newline after disassembly in bpf_verbose_insn()
At the moment there are more callsites that want bpf_verbose_insn() to not print a newline after the instruction, than callsites that want a newline. Drop '\n' from disasm.c. Non-functional change. The changes in bpftool are verified by writing a bpf program using a variety of instructions and comparing `prog dump xlated` output in the following modes: plain, opcodes, visual, visual opcodes. The output before and after the changes is identical. selftests/bpf: Add load-acquire test for probe-memory pointer types
Add a verifier test that a BPF_LOAD_ACQ from a rdonly_untrusted_mem pointer (PTR_TO_MEM | MEM_RDONLY | PTR_UNTRUSTED, obtained via bpf_rdonly_cast()) is rejected. Such a source requires BPF_PROBE_MEM fault protection which is not applied to atomic loads; without the verifier fix the load is accepted and would crash the kernel on a fault. # LDLIBS=-static PKG_CONFIG='pkg-config --static' ./vmtest.sh -- ./test_progs -t verifier_load_acquire [...] #621/1 verifier_load_acquire/load-acquire, 8-bit:OK #621/2 verifier_load_acquire/load-acquire, 8-bit @unpriv:OK #621/3 verifier_load_acquire/load-acquire, 16-bit:OK #621/4 verifier_load_acquire/load-acquire, 16-bit @unpriv:OK #621/5 verifier_load_acquire/load-acquire, 32-bit:OK #621/6 verifier_load_acquire/load-acquire, 32-bit @unpriv:OK #621/7 verifier_load_acquire/load-acquire, 64-bit:OK #621/8 verifier_load_acquire/load-acquire, 64-bit @unpriv:OK [...] #621/19 verifier_load_acquire/load-acquire from rdonly_untrusted_mem pointer:OK #621/20 verifier_load_acquire/load-acquire with invalid register R15:OK #621/21 verifier_load_acquire/load-acquire with invalid register R15 @unpriv:OK #621/22 verifier_load_acquire/load-acquire from pkt pointer:OK #621/23 verifier_load_acquire/load-acquire from flow_keys pointer:OK #621/24 verifier_load_acquire/load-acquire from sock pointer:OK #621 verifier_load_acquire:OK Summary: 1/24 PASSED, 0 SKIPPED, 0 FAILED Signed-off-by: Daniel Borkmann <daniel@iogearbox.net> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/bpf/20260806201047.333389-6-daniel@iogearbox.net Signed-off-by: Kumar Kartikeya Dwivedi <memxor@gmail.com> |

selftests/bpf: Add arena fault test for load-acquire
Add stream_arena_load_acquire_fault, which performs a load-acquire from an
unmapped arena address, next to the existing read and write fault tests.
The test covers both halves of the JIT bug that treated a load-acquire as
a store when populating its exception table entry:
- the fault has to be reported as a READ, and at the address held by
the source register, which __stderr() and test_address() check, and
- the destination register has to be cleared by the fault handler,
which the program checks by poisoning it before the load-acquire
and returning it, so __retval(0) fails if it is left untouched
Note, load-acquire is open coded since linux/filter.h cannot be included
alongside vmlinux.h.

Including fixes from netfilter.
Looks like our attempt to keep the PRs smaller have only prevented
this one from getting even bigger. In the last 9 days there were
405 postings explicitly tagged with [PATCH net], vs 687
with [PATCH net-next]. 37% of posted patches being fixes is pretty
crazy, and that's likely undercounting because LLM "researchers"
more often post fixes without knowing to tag the patches for specific
trees. I don't have historic data.
In any case, we keep adjusting the criteria. The next PR will be smaller.
Current release - regressions:
- net: defer netdev KOBJ_ADD uevent until the device is published,
previously rtnl_lock would serialize the accesses vs publishing
- net: explicitly cancel work to avoid races with ref tracker exit
- qrtr: ns: raise lookup limit to 128
- eth: hns3: fix speed configuration residue after driver reload
Previous releases - regressions:
- tcp: do not change rcv_ssthresh in tcp_measure_rcv_mss(),
regressed flows with MSS and scaling_ratio variability
- Revert "net: thunderbolt: Enable end-to-end flow control also
in transmit", broke some platforms (no packets coming thru)
- eth: stmmac: resume PHY before hardware setup when opening
the interface
Previous releases - always broken:
- another pile of fixes for less common protocols (SCTP, TLS, SMC etc.)
- close a couple of AF_PACKET bugs and ways it can build skbs
problematic for the rest of the stack
- bridge: mrp: fix uninitialised bytes on the wire
- net: devmem: prevent net-iov / page mixing, avoid crashes
- eth: atlantic: free RX pages of consumed but not refilled buffers

tls: rx: restore msg_iter before TLS 1.3 optimistic retry
tls_decrypt_sg() advances msg->msg_iter when it maps user pages for
the optimistic TLS 1.3 zero-copy path. If the decrypted record turns
out not to be unpadded application data, tls_decrypt_sw() retries into
a kernel skb, but leaves the iterator advanced.
The subsequent copy from the skb then writes decrypted bytes again at
a later point in the caller iovecs while recvmsg() reports only the
post-retry length. A TLS peer can trigger this after the receiver
enables TLS_RX_EXPECT_NO_PAD.
Revert the iterator by the number of bytes consumed by the optimistic
mapping before retrying without zero-copy.
Add a selftest which sends a TLS 1.3 control record with
TLS_RX_EXPECT_NO_PAD enabled and verifies that recvmsg() does not
overwrite later iovecs beyond the returned length.

selftests: tls: add a test for splicing onto a full plaintext record
Splicing onto a plaintext sk_msg ring that is already full used to wrap the ring and make the kernel oops in the scatterwalk once the record was pushed. Only the copy path leaves the ring full without pushing it, so splice until the ring is one fragment short, add the last fragment with a one-byte MSG_MORE send, and splice once more before pushing the record. CONFIG_MAX_SKB_FRAGS is 17..45, so that last fragment follows between 16 and 44 splices; sweep that range to trigger the bug on any build. selftests: mptcp: join: mark tests with data corruption as failed
check_transfer() compares the input and output files byte-by-byte using
`cmp -l "$in" "$out" | while read ...`. Because the while-loop body runs
in a subshell (the script sets neither lastpipe nor pipefail), the
fail_test call inside it -- which sets the global ret/last_test_failed --
and the `return 1` both act on the subshell, not on check_transfer().
check_transfer() thus always falls through to `return 0`, and any data
corruption affecting only the payload (leaving the subflow/PM counters
untouched) is silently reported as PASS.

selftests/bpf: Verify inlined numeric iterator shape with __xlated
Add an __xlated test pinning the inlined bpf_iter_num_{new,next,destroy}()
shapes. The program is __naked, so there is no compiler glue and the whole
sequence is matched instruction for instruction.
Gate it to x86_64 and arm64 (bpf_jit_needs_zext() == false); elsewhere the
verifier interleaves "wN = wN" zero-extensions that would not match. The
inlining is arch independent, so these two are enough.

bpf: Classify scalar kfunc arguments from BTF
Add kfunc scalar argument types, classify them in get_kfunc_arg_type() along side with pointer arguments and move scalar type verification into the main switch in check_kfunc_args(). This keeps BTF-based classification separate from register validation for every argument, paving the way for generating the kfunc argument prototype at add-call time. No functional change intended. KF_ARG_MEM_SIZE and KF_ARG_CONST_MEM_SIZE now are reachable. Therefore, remove the fallthrough from KF_ARG_PTR_TO_MEM case and adjust the register indexing. bpf: Classify kfunc pointer arguments from BTF, resolve type against the register
get_kfunc_ptr_arg_type() decided part of a kfunc pointer argument's type from the caller's register: a PTR_TO_BTF_ID (or reg2btf_ids) register made the argument KF_ARG_PTR_TO_BTF_ID, otherwise it fell through to a memory buffer. Folding register state into argument classification prevents describing a kfunc's arguments from its BTF alone, which is a prerequisite for generating a helper-like prototype and eventually sharing the argument checking (check_func_arg()) between helpers and kfuncs. Classify pointer arguments from BTF only, and resolve them against the register in check_kfunc_args(): - A pointer to a struct that is not paired with a __sz/__szk size argument is classified KF_ARG_PTR_TO_BTF_ID and then checked against the register. A register carrying a BTF ID (PTR_TO_BTF_ID or a reg2btf_ids type) must be referenced or trusted and is matched against the expected type. The only relaxation is when the struct is composed of scalars, the register may be verified as a fixed-size memory buffer sized from the BTF type; anything else is rejected. - A pointer paired with a size argument is always a memory buffer and is never classified as BTF_ID, so the __sz/__szk case no longer detours through BTF_ID. The new design now accepts one previously rejected case: passing PTR_TO_BTF_ID to a pointer to scalar w/o a following __sz/__szk. The argument will be classified as KF_ARG_PTR_TO_MEM | MEM_FIXED_SIZE. The PTR_TO_BTF_ID register will go through check_mem_reg() -> check_helper_mem_access() -> check_ptr_to_btf_access(). For a pointer to scalar arg, a kernel btf id will be rejected unless explicitly granted by btf_struct_access(); a program allocated btf id will be allowed. The referenced-or-trusted check thus moves into the KF_ARG_PTR_TO_BTF_ID resolution, alongside the type match. get_kfunc_ptr_arg_type() no longer needs the register, so drop its regs and reg parameters; it is now a pure function of the kfunc's BTF. When a register cannot satisfy a BTF_ID argument, report the register type passed and, when the expected struct has a reg2btf_ids mapping, the register type that would be accepted, instead of a confusing "socket". Update the affected selftest messages accordingly. bpf: Rename ARG_CONST_SIZE{,_OR_ZERO} to ARG_MEM_SIZE{,_OR_ZERO}
ARG_CONST_SIZE does not require a constant: check_mem_size_reg() accepts any bounded scalar and verifies the memory access against its maximum (reg_umax). Rename ARG_CONST_SIZE and ARG_CONST_SIZE_OR_ZERO to ARG_MEM_SIZE and ARG_MEM_SIZE_OR_ZERO to reflect that. ARG_CONST_ALLOC_ SIZE_OR_ZERO, which does require a constant, is left unchanged. bpf: Resolve map lookup result type at lookup time
bpf_map_lookup_elem() is typed to return PTR_TO_MAP_VALUE for every map, but for some map kinds the looked up value is actually a different object: an inner map, a socket or an xsk socket. Until now this reinterpretation happened once the pointer was converted from its NULL-able form to a concrete value. Such reinterpretation logic placement led to mark_ptr_not_null_reg() being called for a temporary register copy in check_mem_reg() and check_kfunc_mem_size_reg() (check_mem_size_reg() was buggy because of not calling it). The temporary copy was necessary to pass reinterpreted parameters as nullable helper and kfunc arguments. Avoid this complication by refining map lookup result type right away. The test case verifier_map_in_map/on_the_inner_map_pointer needs an update because the verifier now prints a concrete NULL-able type for the lookup. selftests/bpf: Add tests for >8 byte return value and 128-bit arguments
The BPF trampoline preserves only 8 bytes of the target's return value (R0), so attaching an fexit/fmod_ret/fsession program to a function that returns a >8 byte value is now rejected by the verifier. Add a bpf_testmod function returning __int128 and an fexit program that targets it. The program is expected to fail to load with the "with a >8 byte return value is not supported for this attach type" message. A 128-bit __int128 argument is passed in a register pair and occupies two trampoline context slots. Add a bpf_testmod function taking a leading __int128 argument followed by an int and a long, and an fexit program that reads those two trailing arguments and the return value, verifying that the trampoline reserves enough stack for the 128-bit argument and places the following arguments and the return value at the right context slots. __int128 is only available on 64-bit targets (where the compiler defines __SIZEOF_INT128__). The argument test additionally depends on the calling convention: x86_64 and arm64 pass an __int128 in a register pair as the trampoline expects, while other architectures pass it differently (e.g. s390x passes larger arguments by reference), so that subtest runs only on x86_64 and arm64 and is skipped elsewhere. selftests/mm: fix potential wild pointer access of getline due to missing init
This is another occurrence of using getline where the code assumes that
getline allocates memory to store the line, but the pointer passed to it
is uninitialized and potentially a non-null pointer. This violates the
Open Group Spec[1] and caused a segfault in a similar situation in
selftest/clone3/clone3_set_tid. Fix it by initializing the line pointer
to NULL.
The issue has been found by simply grepping through the selftest code
after running into the issue in clone3_set_tid. Whether it segfaults in
its current state is unknown to me. But it's good to be addressed due to
defensive reasons.

selftests/clone3: fix wild pointer access of getline due to missing init
Patch series "selftests: Add missing initalization of pointer passed to
getline", v2.
This patch (of 2):
Clone3_set_tid uses getline(&line, ...) in a loop to read the child's
process status. The code expects that getline allocates the buffer for
the line on the first loop iteration. According to the Open Group
Spec[1], char *line has to be null pointer for this:
> ssize_t getline(char **restrict lineptr, ...);
> If *lineptr is a null pointer or if the object pointed to by *lineptr
> is of insufficient size, an object shall be allocated as if by
malloc()
> or the object shall be reallocated as if by realloc()[...].
However, char *line is only declared, leading to an undefined value that
is potentially non-null. In an example run with Musl v1.2.6, the realloc
call[2] of getdelim, which implements getline, triggers a segfault:
./run_kselftest.sh --test clone3:clone3_set_tid
[ 1366.165898] kselftest: Running tests in clone3
...
[ 1367.799244] clone3_set_tid[811]: unhandled signal 11 code 0x1 at
0x0000000000000000 in libc.so[68184,3fbf69f000+4c000]

[ 1367.805314] t0 : 0x0000003fbf63d000
...
Looking at the realloc implementation, Musl mallocs for a null pointer
memory. But for a non-null pointer, it assumes it's passed a valid
pointer to the heap and tries to access its meta-data. This leads to the
segfault we see:
void *realloc(void *p, size_t n)
{
if (!p) return malloc(n);
if (size_overflows(n)) return 0;
struct meta *g = get_meta(p);
...
}
Fix this by properly initializing the line pointer to NULL.

selftests/bpf: Report the real error from libarena parallel workers
Several CI runs failed in the libarena parallel tests with -4 (-EINTR) [1],
which says nothing about what actually went wrong.
Two workers can fail like this:
worker 1: gives up, e.g. the rendezvous times out, sets test_abort and
returns its own error (-ETIMEDOUT)
worker 2: sees test_abort and returns -EINTR
-EINTR only means "someone else already gave up", so it carries no
information. Which of the two gets reported depends on the order
pthread_join() collects them, because
err = err ?: (long)thread_ret;
keeps the first non-zero value and drops the rest. When the -EINTR worker
comes first, the error describing the actual failure is lost.
Skip -EINTR entirely: a worker only returns it once another worker has
already reported the real error, so report and log only the real errors.
It is still unclear whether the timeouts come from CI load or from a
problem in the test itself. Report the error accurately first, so the next
failure can be diagnosed.

Pull vfs fixes from Christian Brauner:
- vfs: Preserve the ACL_DONT_CACHE state in forget_cached_acl().
ACL_DONT_CACHE is meant to be a permanent opt-out from ACL caching
which FUSE relies on for servers that don't negotiate FUSE_POSIX_ACL.
The helper replaced it with ACL_NOT_CACHED, silently re-enabling the
cache, and as fuse doesn't invalidate the cache for such servers a
properly timed get_acl() returned stale ACLs. Comes with a fuse
selftest reproducing this.
- pidfs:
- Preserve PIDFD_THREAD when a thread pidfd is reopened via
open_by_handle_at(). PIDFD_THREAD shares the O_EXCL bit which
do_dentry_open() strips after the flags have been validated, so
the reopened pidfd silently became a process pidfd. Comes with a
selftest.
- Add a pidfs_dentry_open() helper so the regular pidfd allocation
path and the file handle path share the code that forces O_RDWR
and reapplies the pidfd flags that do_dentry_open() strips.
- Handle FS_IOC32_GETVERSION in the compat ioctl path.
- Make pidfs_ino_lock static.
- iomap:
- Fix the block range calculation in ifs_clear_range_dirty() so a
partial clear doesn't drop the dirty state of blocks the range
only partially covers.
- Support invalidating partial folios so a partial truncate or hole
punch with blocksize < foliosize doesn't leave stale dirty bits
behind.
- Only set did_zero when iomap_zero_iter() actually zeroed
something.
- Guard ifs_set_range_dirty() and ifs_set_range_uptodate() against
zero-length ranges where the unsigned last-block calculation
underflows and bitmap_set() writes far beyond the ifs->state
allocation.
- Don't merge ioends with different io_private values as the merge
could leak or corrupt the private data of the individual ioends.
- exec:
- Raise bprm->have_execfd only once the binfmt_misc interpreter has
actually been opened. The flag was set as soon as a matching 'O'
or 'C' entry was found. If the interpreter open failed with
ENOEXEC the exec fell through to the next binary format with
have_execfd raised but no executable staged and begin_new_exec()
NULL derefed past the point of no return.
- Fix an unsigned loop counter wrap in transfer_args_to_stack() on
nommu. An overlong argument or environment string pushes bprm->p
below PAGE_SIZE, the stop index becomes zero, and the loop never
terminates, wrapping its counter and copying garbage from in
front of the page array into the new process stack.
- Make binfmt_elf_fdpic only honour the first PT_INTERP like
binfmt_elf does. Each additional PT_INTERP overwrote the previous
interpreter, leaking the name allocation and the interpreter file
reference together with the write denial open_exec() took,
leaving the file unwritable for as long as the system runs.
- overlayfs:
- Compare the full escaped xattr prefix including the trailing dot.
An xattr like "trusted.overlay.overlayfoo" was misclassified as
an escaped overlay xattr.
- Check read access to the copy_file_range() source with the
source's mounter credentials.
- super: Thawing a filesystem whose block device was frozen with
bdev_freeze() deadlocked. Dropping the last block layer freeze
reference from under s_umount ends up in fs_bdev_thaw() which
reacquires s_umount on the same task. Pin the superblock with an
active reference instead and call bdev_thaw() without holding
s_umount.
- procfs: Return EACCES instead of success when the ptrace access check
for namespace links fails.
- afs: Use afs_dir_get_block() rather than afs_dir_find_block() for
block 0 in afs_edit_dir_remove(), matching afs_edit_dir_add().
- Push the memcg gating of ->nr_cached_objects() down into the btrfs
and shmem callbacks instead of skipping every callback during
non-root memcg reclaim. The blanket check short-circuited XFS whose
inode reclaim hook is intentionally driven from per-memcg contexts to
free memcg-charged slab.
- eventpoll: Pin files while checking reverse paths.
Since struct file became SLAB_TYPESAFE_BY_RCU a concurrent close
could free and recycle the file under the check which then took and
dropped the f_lock of whatever live file now occupies that slot.

tracing fix for 7.2:
- Move rb_desc->nr_page_va before updating dynamic array The rb_descr->page_va is a dynamic array counted by nr_page_va. But the updating of the page_va[] is done before the nr_page_va is incremented causing a build with CONFIG_UBSAN_BOUNDS to flag it as an overflow. Move the increment of the counted by value before the array element is updated. - Propagate errors from remote event bulk updates The return value of trace_remote_enable_event() was not being checked by remote_events_dir_enable_write() where it would silently fail. Have it check the return value and propagate that back up to user space. - Fix resource leak on mmiotrace trace_pipe close The mmiotrace tracer was created in 2008 before the trace_pipe had a close callback to allow tracers to do clean up from trace_pipe open. The trace_pipe close cleanup callback was added in 2009 but the mmiotrace tracer was not updated. It had a hack to do the cleanup in the read call, where it may leak if user space did not read the entire buffer. Add a callback to mmiotrace trace_pipe close do to the cleanup properly. - Fix a possible NULL pointer dereference in the mmiotrace tracer If the mmio_pipe_open() fails to find a PCI device, it will set the hiter->dev pointer to NULL. The read function will blindly dereference that pointer. Fix the read call to check to see if that pointer is populated before dereferencing it. - Fix union collision of module and refcnt for dynamic events In 'struct trace_event_call', the 'module' pointer and the 'refcnt' atomic variable share the same memory space in a union. The filter on module logic only checked if the 'module' was set to determine if the event belonged to the module. As dynamic events are always builtin, it doesn't need the 'module' field of the structure and used a refcount. But the module filtering logic would then mistaken these dynamic events as a module and call module_name(event->module) on it. Add a check to see if the event is a dynamic event and if so, do not check it for being part of the given module. - Reset the top level buffer in selftests before running instances The ftracetest selftest initializes each instance before executing the tests. But it does not reset the top level buffer. Dynamic events are only added and removed by the top level so any left over dynamic events will not be removed by the reset in the instances. Left over dynamic events can cause the tests to incorrectly fail. Reset the top level buffer before running the instances. - Make the context_switch counter 64 bit The code to read user space for a system call trace event or for a trace_marker will disable migration, enable preemption, read user space into a per CPU buffer, disable preemption and enable migration again. It checks if the per CPU context switch counter to see if it changed, and if it did not, it would know that the per CPU buffer was not touched by another task. But the save counter was 32 bit and it would compare it to the 64 bit context_switch variable. A long running system could have the context_switch variable greater that 1<<32 in which case the compare will always fail. The compare will promote the 32 bit int saved value to 64 bit and compare it to the full 64 bit counter. Since the top 32 bits of the saved value was zero, it would never match. - Fix a use-after-free of the event_enable trigger The event_enable trigger allows for enabling one event when another event is triggered. When the trigger is removed, it must go through a synchronization phase to make sure it is not triggered again. The trigger itself is delayed by the "bulk delay" logic that was recently added. But the code that frees the event_enable data used to rely on the trigger code to do the synchronization. Now that the code uses the call RCU functions (and a workqueue), that delay no longer is there. Add a callback private_data_free() function that allows triggers to clean up data after the synchronization phase has completed. - Move the module_ref counter into the delay callback Since an event of the event_enable trigger can enable an event for a module, it ups the module ref count for that event's module. This prevents the event from trying to enable an event that no longer exists and cause a use-after-free bug. The ref counter was set back down when the trigger was removed but not after thy synchronization phase. This could lead to the module data being accessed after module was unloaded. Move the module ref decrement into the private_data_free() callback of the event_enable trigger. - Add mutex to protect parser in ftrace filtering The set_ftrace_filter file uses a parsing descriptor that is allocated at open and modified by writes. If multiple threads were to write to the descriptor at the same time, it can corrupt the parser. Add a mutex around the modifications of the parser descriptor. - Fix possible corruption in perf syscall tracing The perf system call trace events can now read user space. To do so, the reads of user space enable preemption and disables it again. During this time that preemption is enabled, the task can migrate. The perf event list head is assigned via a per CPU pointer. It is done before the user space part is called. If the user space reading migrates the task to another CPU, then the head pointer is no longer valid. Re-assign the head pointer after the reading of user space to keep it using the correct data. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- iIoEABYKADIWIQRRSw7ePDh/lE+zeZMp5XQQmuv6qgUCamYDGhQccm9zdGVkdEBn b29kbWlzLm9yZwAKCRAp5XQQmuv6qkhYAP9G5wDTVQQzitl900iWp9rvQ2Qm5UWN JDnK2HO1elmj0AD8CRiHBI5W3O2yUmoO4bOFZ9YFXz+DqJ1jwkDs5FfqjAU= =EMD9 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- Merge tag 'trace-v7.2-rc4' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/trace/linux-trace Pull tracing fixes from Steven Rostedt: - Move rb_desc->nr_page_va before updating dynamic array The rb_descr->page_va is a dynamic array counted by nr_page_va. * tag 'trace-v7.2-rc4' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/trace/linux-trace: tracing: perf: Fix stale head for perf syscall tracing ftrace: Add global mutex to serialize trace_parser access tracing: Delay module ref count for "enable_event" trigger tracing: Fix use-after-free freeing trigger private data tracing: Fix context switch counter truncation selftests/ftrace: Reset triggers at top level before instance loop tracing: Fix union collision of module and refcnt for dynamic events tracing: Fix mmiotrace possible NULL dereferencing of hiter->dev tracing: Fix resource leak on mmiotrace trace_pipe close tracing: Propagate errors from remote event bulk updates tracing/remotes: Fix page_va[] access before counter update in trace_remote_alloc_buffer() |

BPF fixes:
- Fix tcp_bpf_sendmsg() error path mistaking a concurrently-freed sk_psock->cork for the local temporary message and freeing it again. (Chengfeng Ye) - Reject passing scalar NULL to nonnull arg of a global subprog. Previously the verifier did not account for the cases directly passing scalars to a global subprog, e.g.: 'global_func(0);' would pass even if 'global_func' argument was marked nonnull. Netfilter/IPVS fixes for net
The following batch contains Netfilter/IPVS fixes for net. This batch
includes a mix of IPVS follow ups related to Sashiko reports, as well as
crash fixes for connection tracking expectation, helpers, ipset and
nf_tables mostly for old bugs. This also includes a fix for the
flowtable tunnel selftest.
1) Use s32 instead of s16 to calculate the remaining payload containing
SIP messages, otherwise underflow is possible allowing out-of-bound
memory access beyond the skb->data area. From Xiang Mei.
2) Fix the counter check in the flowtable selftest for tunnels, from
Lorenzo Bianconi.
3) Add and use nf_ct_expect_related_pair() to add the RTP and RTCP
expectations under the expectation lock, this is required by the SIP
and H.323 NAT helpers. This fixes a possible reinsertion of an
expectation with the DEAD flag set on while looping to find
consecutive ports.
4) Fix ipset UaF during table resize by blocking comment updates on
kernel-side adds. From David Lee.
5) Do not propagate the IP_VS_CONN_F_ONE_PACKET flag when using IPVS
state synchronization, otherwise reaching stale freed from
ip_vs_conn struct is possible, Zhiling Zou.
6) Adjust the hn1 hash node when the forwarding method changes between
MASQ and non-MASQ for an already hashed connection. This can leave
stale hash nodes pointing to a freed struct ip_vs_conn and trigger
UaF while reading /proc/net/ip_vs_conn. From Julian Anastasov.
7) nft_object rhltable needs to be per table, just like chain rhltable,
otherwise UaF from object lookup path while netns is being released.
There is also the nlevent path that can reach stale objects. Placing
this rhltable under the table hierarchy fixes this issue.
8) Reject invalid combined usage of hashlimit tables with and without
XT_HASHLIMIT_RATE_MATCH flag mode, otherwise access to uninitialized
.burst field of dsthash_ent is possible.
9) Fix checksum validations in IPVS performed from LOCAL_IN,
from Julian Anastasov.
10) Fix incorrect packet offset to layer 4 protocol in IPVS, uncovered
by Sashiko, from Julian Anastasov.
11) Skip the mangling of ICMP replies for non-first fragments, also
reported by Sashiko. Also from Julian.
12) Clear ip_vs_conn flags under the spinlock to fix a possible data
race. From Julian Anastasov.
13) Fix incorrect calculation of the payload bitmask in the nf_tables
hardware offload support, leading to UBSAN splat. From Xiang Mei.
