powerpc/pseries: Skip vpa_init() for boot cpu in smp_setup_cpu()
During pSeries_setup_arch(), VPA for boot-cpu is first to be initialized. However later in the boot, smp_setup_cpu() is called for setting up VPA on boot and secondary cpus that were brought online. This results in vpa_init() being called twice for boot-cpu and three redundant H_REGISTER_VPA hcalls being made to the hypervisor. Fix this by adding an extra condition in smp_set_cpu() to call vpa_init() only on non boot-cpus. powerpc/pseries: Ensure vpa,slb_shadow & dtl are unregistered during crash
Currently pseries_kexec_cpu_down() skips unregistering vpa, slb_shadow and dtl areas during a crash and kexec shutdown path. It was done to avoid doing an HCALL while crashing. However recently Anushree reported that during kernel crash while the kdump kernel was coming up, Hypervisor reported invalid values for 'vpa.yield_count' while it dispatching L2-KVM Guest vcpus. The error manifested as debug build Hypervisor assert triggering to indicate possible VPA corruption. Looking at the kexec cpu offline path it was discovered that during crash kernel doesn't unregister the VPA/SLB-Shadow/DTL area with Hypervisor. Instead it re-allocates and re-registers these areas for cpus during boot. During kexec boot the previously allocated areas can get overwritten with new content without hypervisor knowledge. This creates a small window where while kexec kernel boots and the L2-VCPUs are being dispatched, Hypervisor may try to read/write to a wrong memory area which previously belonged to older VPA. Fix this possible race and memory corruption by updating pseries_kexec_cpu_down() to also unregister vpa,slb_shadow & dtl areas during a kernel crash. Merge tag 'pci-v7.2-changes' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/pci/pci
Pull pci updates from Bjorn Helgaas:
"Enumeration:
- Remove MPS/MRRS Kconfig settings (CONFIG_PCIE_BUS_*) that worked
around a WiFi device defect; use a quirk or boot-time
"pci=pcie_bus_tune_*" kernel parameter instead (Bjorn Helgaas)
- Always lift 2.5GT/s restriction in PCIe failed link retraining to
avoid clamping a link to 2.5GT/s after hot-plug changes the device
(Maciej W. Rozycki)
- Request bus reassignment when not probe-only to fix an enumeration
regression on Marvell CN106XX and possibly other DT-based systems
(Ratheesh Kannoth)
- Fix procfs race between pci_proc_init() and pci_bus_add_device()
that resulted in 'proc_dir_entry ... already registered' warnings
and pointer corruption (Krzysztof Wilczyński)
- Fix sysfs race that causes 'duplicate filename' warnings and boot
panics by converting PCI resource files to static attributes
(Krzysztof Wilczyński)
- Expose sysfs 'resourceN_resize' attributes only on platforms with
PCI mmap (Krzysztof Wilczyński)
- Require CAP_SYS_ADMIN to write to sysfs 'resourceN_resize'
attributes (Krzysztof Wilczyński)
- Add security_locked_down(LOCKDOWN_PCI_ACCESS) to alpha PCI resource
mmap path to match the generic path (Krzysztof Wilczyński)
- Use kstrtobool() to parse the 'rom' attribute input to avoid the
unexpected behavior of enabling the ROM when writing '0' with no
trailing newline (Krzysztof Wilczyński)
Resource management:
- Improve resource claim logging for debuggability (Ilpo Järvinen)
- Clean up several uses of const parameters (Ilpo Järvinen)
- Check option ROM header signatures and lengths before accessing to
avoid page faults and alignment faults (Guixin Liu)
ASPM:
- Don't reconfigure ASPM when entering low-power D-state; only do it
when returning back to D0 (Carlos Bilbao)
Power management:
- During suspend, set power state to 'unknown' for all devices, not
just those with drivers (Lukas Wunner)
- Skip restoring Resizable BARs and VF Resizable BARs if device
doesn't respond to config reads, to avoid invalid array accesses
(Marco Nenciarini)
- Add pci_suspend_retains_context() so drivers can tell whether
devices retain internal state across suspend/resume, since some
platforms reset devices on suspend; use this in nvme to avoid
issues on Qcom RCs (Manivannan Sadhasivam)
Power control:
- Only to power on/off devices that actually support power control to
avoid poking at incompatible devices mentioned in DT (Manivannan
Sadhasivam)
Virtualization and resets:
- Log device readiness timeouts as errors, not warnings, because the
device is likely unusable in this case (Bjorn Helgaas)
- Wait for device readiness after soft reset (D3hot ->
D0uninitialized transition), when the device may respond with
Request Retry Status (RRS) if it needs more time to initialize
(Bjorn Helgaas)
- Drop unnecessary retries when restoring BARs because resets should
now already include all required delays (Lukas Wunner)
- Avoid FLR for MediaTek MT7925 WiFi, where FLR fails after a VM
terminates uncleanly (Jose Ignacio Tornos Martinez)
- Avoid SBR for Qualcomm WCN6855/WCN7850 WiFi, SDX62/SDX65 modems,
which seem not to support it correctly (Jose Ignacio Tornos
Martinez)
Peer-to-peer DMA:
- Prevent P2PDMA as well as CPU access to non-mappable BARs, e.g.,
s390 ISM BARs (Matt Evans)
- Add Intel QAT, DSA, IAA devices to whitelist (Lukas Wunner)

through (Koichiro Den)
- Cache sleepable pci_irq_vector() value at ISR setup to avoid
calling it from hardirq context (Koichiro Den)
- Call sleepable pci_epc_raise_irq() from a work item instead of
atomic context, e.g., when setting bits in NTB peer doorbells in
the ntb_peer_db_set() path (Koichiro Den)
- Report 0-based vNTB doorbell vector to account for link event 0 and
historically skipped slot 1 (Koichiro Den)
- Prevent configfs writes to vNTB db_count and other values that are
already in use after EPC attach (Koichiro Den)
- Account for vNTB db_valid reserved slots (link event 0 and
historically skipped slot 1) so they don't appear as valid
doorbells (Koichiro Den)
- Implement vNTB .db_vector_count()/mask() for doorbells so clients
can use multiple vectors and avoid thundering herds (Koichiro Den)
- Report 0-based NTB doorbell vector to account for link event 0 and
historically skipped slot 1 (Koichiro Den)
- Fix doorbell bitmask and IRQ vector handling to clear only
specified bits, use the correct vector for non-contiguous Linux IRQ
numbers, and validate incoming vectors (Koichiro Den)
- Implement NTB .db_vector_count()/mask() for doorbells so clients
can use multiple vectors (Koichiro Den)
Native PCIe controller infrastructure:
- Add pci_host_common_link_train_delay() for the mandatory delay
after > 5GT/s Link training completes and use it for cadence HPA,
j721e, LGA; dwc; aardvark, mediatek-gen3, rzg3s (Hans Zhang)
- Protect root bus removal with rescan lock in altera, brcmstb,
cadence, dwc, iproc, mediatek, plda, rockchip to prevent
use-after-free or crashes when racing with sysfs rescan or hotplug
(Hans Zhang)
- Add pci_host_common_parse_ports() for use by any native driver to

Patchsets in this merge:
- The 2 patch series "selftests/mm: clean up build output and verbosity"
from Li Wang removes some noise from the MM selftests build out.
- The 3 patch series "mm: Free contiguous order-0 pages efficiently"
from Ryan Roberts speeds up the freeing of a batch of 0-order pages by
first scanning them for coalescing opportunities. This is applicable to
vfree() and to the releasing of frozen pages.
- The 11 patch series "mm/damon: introduce DAMOS failed region quota
charge ratio" from SeongJae Park addresses a DAMOS usability issue: The
DAMOS quota often exhausts prematurely because it charges for all memory
attempted, causing slow and inconsistent performance when actions fail
on unreclaimable memory.
To fix this, a new feature lets users set a smaller, flexible quota
charge ratio (via a numerator and denominator) for failed regions.
Since failed actions cause less overhead, reducing their quota cost
ensures more predictable and efficient DAMOS processing
- The 8 patch series "selftests/cgroup: improve zswap tests robustness
and support large page sizes" from Li Wang fixes various spurious
failures and improves the overall robustness of the cgroup zswap
selftests.
- The 3 patch series "fix MAP_DROPPABLE not supported errno" from
Anthony Yznaga fixes an issue in the mlock selftests on arm32.
- The 2 patch series "mm: huge_memory: clean up defrag sysfs with
shared" from Breno Leitao does some maintenance work in the huge_memory
code.
- The 3 patch series "treewide: fixup gfp_t printks" from Brendan
Jackman uses the special vprintf() gfp_t conversion in various places.
- The 6 patch series "mm: Fix vmemmap optimization accounting and
initialization" from Muchun Song fixes several bugs in the vmemmap
optimization, mainly around incorrect page accounting and memmap
initialization in the DAX and memory hotplug paths. It also fixes
pageblock migratetype initialization and struct page initialization for
ZONE_DEVICE compound pages.
- The 4 patch series "mm/damon: repost non-hotfix reviewed patches in
damon/next tree" from is a sprinkle of unrelated minor bugfixes for
DAMON.
- The 3 patch series "mm: remove page_mapped()" from David Hildenbrand
remove this function from the tree, replacing it with folio_mapped().
- The 10 patch series "mm/damon: let DAMON be paused and resumed" from
SeongJae Park permits DAMON to be paused and resumed without losing its
current state.
- The 3 patch series "kasan: hw_tags: Disable tagging for stack and
page-tables" from Muhammad Usama Anjum simplifies and speeds up kasan by
removing its ineffective tagging of stacks and page tables.
- The 7 patch series "mm/damon/reclaim,lru_sort: monitor all system rams
by default" from SeongJae Park simplifies deployment on diverse hardware
like NUMA systems by updating DAMON_RECLAIM and DAMON_LRU_SORT to
automatically monitor the physical address range covering all System RAM
areas by default, replacing the overly restrictive behavior that only
targeted the single largest memory block to save on negligible overhead.
- The 2 patch series "mm/damon/sysfs: document filters/ directory as
deprecated" from SeongJae Park updates some DAMON docs.
- The 8 patch series "mm: use spinlock guards for zone lock" from Dmitry
Ilvokhin switches zone->lock handling over to using the guard()
mechanisms.
- The 2 patch series "mm/filemap: tighten mmap_miss hit accounting" from
fujunjie fixes a flaw where the mmap_miss counter over-credited page
cache hits during fault-arounds and page-fault retries. This results in
significant reduction of redundant synchronous mmap readahead I/O,
drastically cutting down execution time and gigabytes read for sparse
random or strided memory access workloads.
- The 2 patch series "selftests/cgroup: Fix false positive failures in
test_percpu_basic" from Li Wang fixes a couple of false-positives in the
cgroup kmem selftests.
- The 2 patch series "mm/damon/reclaim: support monitoring intervals
auto-tuning" from SeongJae Park adds a new parameter to DAMON permitting
DAMON_RECLAIM to automatically tune DAMON's sampling and aggregation
intervals.
- The 2 patch series "mm/damon/stat: add kdamond_pid parameter" from
SeongJae Park chnges DAMON_STAT to provide the pid of its kdamond.
- The 2 patch series "mm/kmemleak: dedupe verbose scan output" from
Breno Leitao removes large amounts of duplicated backtraces from the
verbose-mode kmemleak output.
- The 8 patch series "mm: remove CONFIG_HAVE_BOOTMEM_INFO_NODE (Part 1)"
from David Hildenbrand reduces our use of CONFIG_HAVE_BOOTMEM_INFO_NODE,
with a view to removing it entirely in a later series.
- The 2 patch series "mm/damon: validate min_region_size to be power of
2" from Liew Rui Yan prevents users from passing a non-power-of-2 value
of `addr_unit', as this later results in undesirable behavior.
- The 2 patch series "mm: document read_pages and simplify usage" from
Frederick Mayle does as claimed.
- The 3 patch series "tools/mm/page-types: Fix misc bugs" from Ye Liu
fixes three issues in tools/mm/page-types.c.
- The 4 patch series "mm: misc cleanups from __GFP_UNMAPPED series" from
Brendan Jackman implements several cleanups in the page allocator and
related code.
- The 12 patch series "mm, swap: swap table phase IV: unify allocation"
from Kairui Song unifies the allocation and charging of anon and shmem
swap in folios, provides better synchronization, consolidates the
metadata management, hence dropping the static array and map, and
improves performance.
- The 28 patch series "mm/damon: introduce data attributes monitoring"
from SeongJae Park extends DAMON for monitoring general data attributes
other than accesses.
- The 5 patch series "mm/vmalloc: free unused pages on vrealloc()
shrink" from Shivam Kalra implements the TODO in vrealloc() to unmap and
free unused pages when shrinking across a page boundary.
- The 3 patch series "mm/damon: documentation and comment fixes" from
niecheng does as advertised.
- The 3 patch series "remove mmap_action success, error hooks" from
Lorenzo Stoakes eliminates custom hooks from mmap_action by removing the
problematic success_hook which allowed drivers to improperly access
uninitialized VMAs. It replaces the error_hook with a simple error-code
field and updates the memory char driver accordingly.
- The 14 patch series "mm/damon: minor improvements for code readability
and tests" from SeongJae Park implements minor improvements in code
readability and tests for DAMON.
- The 2 patch series "mm/damon: fix macro arguments and clarify quota

- The 15 patch series "mm/mglru: improve reclaim loop and dirty folio"
from Kairui Song and others cleans up and slightly improves MGLRU's
reclaim loop and dirty writeback handling. Large performance
improvements are measured.
- The 3 patch series "use vma locks for proc/pid/{smaps|numa_maps}

- The 4 patch series "memcg: shrink obj_stock_pcp and cache multiple
objcgs" from Shakeel Butt resolves a 68% performance regression caused
by NUMA-node cache thrashing around struct obj_stock_pcp by shrinking
its existing fields and expanding it into a multi-slot array that caches
up to five obj_cgroup pointers per CPU, allowing per-node variants of
the same memcg to coexist within a single 64-byte cache line.
- The 2 patch series "zram: writeback fixes" from Sergey Senozhatsky
addresses a couple of unrelated zram writeback issues.
- The 9 patch series "mm: switch THP shrinker to list_lru" from Johannes
Weiner resolves NUMA-awareness issues and streamlines callsite
interaction by refactoring and extending the list_lru API to completely
replace the complex, open-coded deferred split queue for Transparent
Huge Pages (THPs).
- The 2 patch series "mm: improve large folio readahead for exec memory"
from Usama Arif improves large-folio readahead on systems like 64K-page
arm64 by preventing the mmap_miss check from permanently disabling
target-oriented VM_EXEC readahead, and by generalizing the
force_thp_readahead gate to support mappings with any usefully large
maximum folio order under the cache cap.
- The 6 patch series "userfaultfd/pagemap: pre-existing fixes" from
Kiryl Shutsemau fixes a bunch of minor issues in the
userfaultfd/pagemap, all of which were flagged by Sashiko review of
proposed new material.
- The 5 patch series "mm/sparse-vmemmap: Provide generic
vmemmap_set_pmd() and vmemmap_check_pmd()" from Muchun Song provides
generic versions of these two functions so the four arch-specific
implementations can be removed.
- The 2 patch series "mm/swap, PM: hibernate: fix swapoff race in
uswsusp by pinning swap device" from Youngjun Park addresses a
uswsusp-vs-swapoff race and reduces the swap device reference
taking/releasing frequency.
- The 2 patch series "mm/hmm: A fix and a selftest" from Dev Jain does

Merge tag 'mm-stable-2026-06-18-09-26' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/akpm/mm
Pull MM updates from Andrew Morton:
- "selftests/mm: clean up build output and verbosity" (Li Wang)
Remove some noise from the MM selftests build
- "mm: Free contiguous order-0 pages efficiently" (Ryan Roberts)
Speed up the freeing of a batch of 0-order pages by first scanning
them for coalescing opportunities. This is applicable to vfree() and
to the releasing of frozen pages
- "mm/damon: introduce DAMOS failed region quota charge ratio"
(SeongJae Park)
Address a DAMOS usability issue: The DAMOS quota often exhausts
prematurely because it charges for all memory attempted, causing slow
and inconsistent performance when actions fail on unreclaimable
memory.
To fix this, a new feature lets users set a smaller, flexible quota
charge ratio (via a numerator and denominator) for failed regions.
Since failed actions cause less overhead, reducing their quota cost
ensures more predictable and efficient DAMOS processing
- "selftests/cgroup: improve zswap tests robustness and support large
page sizes" (Li Wang)
Fix various spurious failures and improves the overall robustness of
the cgroup zswap selftests
- "fix MAP_DROPPABLE not supported errno" (Anthony Yznaga)
Fix an issue in the mlock selftests on arm32
- "mm: huge_memory: clean up defrag sysfs with shared" (Breno Leitao)
Some maintenance work in the huge_memory code
- "treewide: fixup gfp_t printks" (Brendan Jackman)
Use the special vprintf() gfp_t conversion in various places
- "mm: Fix vmemmap optimization accounting and initialization" (Muchun
Song)
Fix several bugs in the vmemmap optimization, mainly around incorrect
page accounting and memmap initialization in the DAX and memory
hotplug paths. It also fixes pageblock migratetype initialization and
struct page initialization for ZONE_DEVICE compound pages
- "mm/damon: repost non-hotfix reviewed patches in damon/next tree"
A sprinkle of unrelated minor bugfixes for DAMON
- "mm: remove page_mapped()" (David Hildenbrand)
Remove this function from the tree, replacing it with folio_mapped()
- "mm/damon: let DAMON be paused and resumed" (SeongJae Park)
Allow DAMON to be paused and resumed without losing its current state
- "kasan: hw_tags: Disable tagging for stack and page-tables" (Muhammad
Usama Anjum)
Simplify and speed up kasan by removing its ineffective tagging of
stacks and page tables
- "mm/damon/reclaim,lru_sort: monitor all system rams by default"
(SeongJae Park)
Simplify deployment on diverse hardware like NUMA systems by updating
DAMON_RECLAIM and DAMON_LRU_SORT to automatically monitor the
physical address range covering all System RAM areas by default,
replacing the overly restrictive behavior that only targeted the
single largest memory block to save on negligible overhead
- "mm/damon/sysfs: document filters/ directory as deprecated" (SeongJae
Park)
Update some DAMON docs
- "mm: use spinlock guards for zone lock" (Dmitry Ilvokhin)
Switch zone->lock handling over to using the guard() mechanisms
- "mm/filemap: tighten mmap_miss hit accounting" (fujunjie)
Fix a flaw where the mmap_miss counter over-credited page cache hits
during fault-arounds and page-fault retries. This results in
significant reduction of redundant synchronous mmap readahead I/O,
drastically cutting down execution time and gigabytes read for sparse
random or strided memory access workloads
- "selftests/cgroup: Fix false positive failures in test_percpu_basic"
(Li Wang)
Fix a couple of false-positives in the cgroup kmem selftests
- "mm/damon/reclaim: support monitoring intervals auto-tuning"
(SeongJae Park)
Add a new parameter to DAMON permitting DAMON_RECLAIM to
automatically tune DAMON's sampling and aggregation intervals
- "mm/damon/stat: add kdamond_pid parameter" (SeongJae Park)
Change DAMON_STAT to provide the pid of its kdamond
- "mm/kmemleak: dedupe verbose scan output" (Breno Leitao)
Remove large amounts of duplicated backtraces from the verbose-mode
kmemleak output
- "mm: remove CONFIG_HAVE_BOOTMEM_INFO_NODE (Part 1)" (David
Hildenbrand)
Reduce our use of CONFIG_HAVE_BOOTMEM_INFO_NODE, with a view to
removing it entirely in a later series
- "mm/damon: validate min_region_size to be power of 2" (Liew Rui Yan)
Prevent users from passing a non-power-of-2 value of `addr_unit', as
this later results in undesirable behavior
- "mm: document read_pages and simplify usage" (Frederick Mayle)
- "tools/mm/page-types: Fix misc bugs" (Ye Liu)
Fix three issues in tools/mm/page-types.c
- "mm: misc cleanups from __GFP_UNMAPPED series" (Brendan Jackman)
Implement several cleanups in the page allocator and related code
- "mm, swap: swap table phase IV: unify allocation" (Kairui Song)
Unify the allocation and charging of anon and shmem swap in folios,
provides better synchronization, consolidates the metadata
management, hence dropping the static array and map, and improves
performance
- "mm/damon: introduce data attributes monitoring" (SeongJae Park(
Extend DAMON to monitor general data attributes other than accesses
- "mm/vmalloc: free unused pages on vrealloc() shrink" (Shivam Kalra)
Implement the TODO in vrealloc() to unmap and free unused pages when
shrinking across a page boundary
- "mm/damon: documentation and comment fixes" (niecheng)
- "remove mmap_action success, error hooks" (Lorenzo Stoakes)
Eliminate custom hooks from mmap_action by removing the problematic
success_hook which allowed drivers to improperly access uninitialized
VMAs. It replaces the error_hook with a simple error-code field and
updates the memory char driver accordingly
- "mm/damon: minor improvements for code readability and tests"
(SeongJae Park)
- "mm/damon: fix macro arguments and clarify quota goals doc" (Maksym
Shcherba)
- "userfaultfd: merge fs/userfaultfd.c into mm/userfaultfd.c" (Mike
Rapoport)
- "mm/mglru: improve reclaim loop and dirty folio" (Kairui Song and
others)
Clean up and slightly improves MGLRU's reclaim loop and dirty
writeback handling. Large performance improvements are measured
- "use vma locks for proc/pid/{smaps|numa_maps} reads" (Suren
Baghdasaryan)
Use per-vma locks when reading /proc/pid/smaps and numa_maps similar
to reduce contention on central mmap_lock

drivers/base/memory: make memory block get/put explicit
Rename the memory block lookup helper to make the acquired reference explicit, add memory_block_put() to wrap put_device(), remove find_memory_block(), and use memory_block_get() as the single block-id based lookup interface. This makes it clearer to callers that a successful lookup holds a reference that must be dropped, reducing the chance of forgetting the matching put and leaking the memory block device reference. powerpc: use sysfs_emit{_at} in sysfs show functions
Replace sprintf() with sysfs_emit() and sysfs_emit_at() in sysfs show functions, which are preferred for formatting sysfs output because they provide safer bounds checking. While the current code only emits strings that fit easily within PAGE_SIZE, use sysfs_emit() and sysfs_emit_at() to follow secure coding best practices. This is a mechanical cleanup with a few simple edge cases: - In domains_show(), drop the redundant n < 0 check since neither sprintf() nor sysfs_emit() return negative values. - In powercap_show() and psr_show(), also drop the dead ret < 0 checks. - In ps3_fw_version_show(), normalize the output by adding a terminating newline as suggested by checkpatch. - In vio's modalias_show(), replace the deprecated strcpy() [1] followed by strlen() with sysfs_emit(). Leave validate_show() and the variable-length hv-gpci helpers unchanged since they already have explicit bounds handling, and converting those would be more than a mechanical conversion. powerpc/fadump: Add timeout to RTAS busy-wait loops
The ibm,configure-kernel-dump RTAS call sites in rtas_fadump_register(), rtas_fadump_unregister(), and rtas_fadump_invalidate() polled indefinitely while firmware returned a busy status. A misbehaving or hung firmware could stall these paths forever, blocking fadump registration at boot or preventing clean teardown. Introduce rtas_fadump_call(), a helper that wraps the common busy-wait pattern shared by all three sites. The helper accumulates the total delay and returns -ETIMEDOUT if firmware keeps returning a busy status beyond RTAS_FADUMP_MAX_WAIT_MS (60 seconds). A pr_debug() message is emitted on each busy iteration to aid diagnosis when the timeout is hit. consumed the hvpipe msg by making the rtas call. ret = -EFAULT means
copy_to_user has failed but that still means that the msg was read from
the hvpipe, hence for both cases, success & -EFAULT, we should clear the
HVPIPE_MSG_AVAILABLE flag in hvpipe_status.

pseries/papr-hvpipe: Fix & simplify error handling in papr_hvpipe_init()
Remove such 3 levels of nesting patterns to check success return values
from function calls.
ret = enable_hvpipe_IRQ()
if (!ret)
ret = set_hvpipe_sys_param(1)
if (!ret)
ret = misc_register()
Instead just bail out to "out*:" labels, in case of any error. This
simplifies the init flow.
While at it let's also fix the following error handling logic:
We have already enabled interrupt sources and enabled hvpipe to received
interrupts, if misc_register() fails, we will destroy the workqueue, but
the HMC might send us a msg via hvpipe which will call, queue work on
the workqueue which might be destroyed.
So instead, let's reverse the order of enabling set_hvpipe_sys_param(1)
and in case of an error let's remove the misc dev by calling
misc_deregister().

pseries/papr-hvpipe: Prevent kernel stack memory leak to userspace
The hdr variable is allocated on the stack and only hdr.version and
hdr.flags are initialized explicitly. Because the struct papr_hvpipe_hdr
contains reserved padding bytes (reserved[3] and reserved2[40]), these
could leak the uninitialized bytes to userspace after copy_to_user().
This patch fixes that by initializing the whole struct to 0.

powerpc/pseries/htmdump: Add memory configuration dump support to htmdump module
H_HTM (Hardware Trace Macro) hypervisor call has capability to capture SystemMemory Configuration. This information helps to understand the address mapping for the partitions in the system. Support dumping system memory configuration from Hardware Trace Macro (HTM) function via debugfs interface. Under debugfs folder "/sys/kernel/debug/powerpc/htmdump", add file "htmsystem_mem". The interface allows only read of this file which will present the content of HTM buffer from the hcall. The 16th offset of HTM buffer has value for the number of entries for array of processors. powerpc/pseries/htmdump: Free the global buffers in htmdump module exit
htmdump modules uses global memory buffers to capture details like capabilities, status of specified HTM, read the trace buffer. These are initialized during module init and hence needs to be freed in module exit. Patch adds freeing of the memory in module exit. The change also includes minor clean up for the variable name. The read call back for the debugfs interface file saves filp->private_data to local variable name which is same as global variable name for the memory buffers. Rename these local variable names. Convert 'alloc_obj' family to use the new default GFP_KERNEL argument
This was done entirely with mindless brute force, using
git grep -l '\<k[vmz]*alloc_objs*(.*, GFP_KERNEL)' |
xargs sed -i 's/\(alloc_objs*(.*\), GFP_KERNEL)/\1)/'
to convert the new alloc_obj() users that had a simple GFP_KERNEL
argument to just drop that argument.
Note that due to the extreme simplicity of the scripting, any slightly
more complex cases spread over multiple lines would not be triggered:
they definitely exist, but this covers the vast bulk of the cases, and
the resulting diff is also then easier to check automatically.
For the same reason the 'flex' versions will be done as a separate
conversion.

treewide: Replace kmalloc with kmalloc_obj for non-scalar types
This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. The script is designed to avoid scalar types (which need careful case-by-case checking), and instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union object instances: Single allocations: kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...) are replaced with: kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...) Array allocations: kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...) are replaced with: kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...) Flex array allocations: kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...) are replaced with: kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...) (where TYPE may also be *VAR) The resulting allocations no longer return "void *", instead returning "TYPE *". Signed-off-by: Kees Cook <kees@kernel.org> |

mm/balloon_compaction: centralize adjust_managed_page_count() handling
Let's centralize it, by allowing for the driver to enable this handling through a new flag (bool for now) in the balloon device info. Note that we now adjust the counter when adding/removing a page into the balloon list: when removing a page to deflate it, it will now happen before the driver communicated with hypervisor, not afterwards. This shouldn't make a difference in practice. Link: https://lkml.kernel.org/r/20260119230133.3551867-7-david@kernel.org Signed-off-by: David Hildenbrand (Red Hat) <david@kernel.org> Acked-by: Liam R. mm/balloon_compaction: centralize basic page migration handling
Let's update the balloon page references, the balloon page list, the BALLOON_MIGRATE counter and the isolated-pages counter in balloon_page_migrate(), after letting the balloon->migratepage() callback deal with the actual inflation+deflation. Note that we now perform the balloon list modifications outside of any implementation-specific locks: which is fine, there is nothing special about these page actions that the lock would be protecting. The old page is already no longer in the list (isolated) and the new page is not yet in the list. Let's use -ENOENT to communicate the special "inflation of new page failed after already deflating the old page" to balloon_page_migrate() so it can handle it accordingly. While at it, rename balloon->b_dev_info to make it match the other functions. Also, drop the comment above balloon_page_migrate(), which seems unnecessary. PCI/MSI: Convert the boolean no_64bit_msi flag to a DMA address mask
Some PCI devices have PCI_MSI_FLAGS_64BIT in the MSI capability, but implement less than 64 address bits. This breaks on platforms where such a device is assigned an MSI address higher than what's supported. Currently, no_64bit_msi bit is set for these devices, meaning that only 32-bit MSI addresses are allowed for them. However, on some platforms the MSI doorbell address is above the 32-bit limit but within the addressable range of the device. As a first step to enable MSI on those combinations of devices and platforms, convert the boolean no_64bit_msi flag to a DMA mask and fixup the affected usage sites: - no_64bit_msi = 1 -> msi_addr_mask = DMA_BIT_MASK(32) - no_64bit_msi = 0 -> msi_addr_mask = DMA_BIT_MASK(64) - if (no_64bit_msi) -> if (msi_addr_mask < DMA_BIT_MASK(64)) Since no values other than DMA_BIT_MASK(32) and DMA_BIT_MASK(64) are used, this is functionally equivalent. This prepares for changing the binary decision between 32 and 64 bit to a DMA mask based decision which allows to support systems which have a DMA address space less than 64bit but a MSI doorbell address above the 32-bit limit. pseries/plpks: add HCALLs for PowerVM Key Wrapping Module
The hypervisor generated wrapping key is an AES-GCM-256 symmetric key which is stored in a non-volatile, secure, and encrypted storage called the Power LPAR Platform KeyStore. It has policy based protections that prevent it from being read out or exposed to the user. Implement H_PKS_GEN_KEY, H_PKS_WRAP_OBJECT, and H_PKS_UNWRAP_OBJECT HCALLs to enable using the PowerVM Key Wrapping Module (PKWM) as a new trust source for trusted keys. powerpc/pseries: move the PLPKS config inside its own sysfs directory
The /sys/firmware/secvar/config directory represents Power LPAR Platform KeyStore (PLPKS) configuration properties such as max_object_size, signed_ update_algorithms, supported_policies, total_size, used_space, and version. These attributes describe the PLPKS, and not the secure boot variables (secvars). Create /sys/firmware/plpks directory and move the PLPKS config inside this directory.
