Change the CS35L56/57/62/63 entries in codec_info_list[] to use
the OT25 DAI for amp feedback.
The AMP feedback was incorrectly using a DAI connected to DP3,
but that is reserved for SDCA companion amp. The correct amp
output is DP4, which is the SDCA OT25 feedback output.

Delete the asoc_sdw_cs_spk_feedback_rtd_init(). This is not needed now
that the ASoC bug it was working around has been fixed. And it was broken
anyway because it didn't match the way the core SoundWire code mapped
codec channels to frame bitslots.
This code was added to avoid a problem where multiple codec DP outputs
were mapped to the same SoundWire frame bit slot. This would allow a
user to break the SoundWire bus just by enabling mixer outputs using
ALSA controls.
As no production system has used the capture stream, this workaround
was of little consequence and the problem of conflicting DP mappings
was not investigated.
The ASoC bug that enabled too many channels on each codec has now been
fixed. So this workaround can be completely deleted.

In asoc_sdw_hw_params() set the codec_ch_mask member of struct
snd_soc_dai_link_ch_map for capture streams. ASoC will then pass the
correct number of channels to each codec hw_params(). This prevents
trying to enable more channels on the codec DP than have been allocated
bitslots in the SoundWire frame, which would cause bus clash errors.
In theory codec_ch_mask could also be set for playback streams, but for
those the CPU is the only sender so there is no risk of bus clash.
For playback streams codec_ch_mask is set to 0 to preserve the existing
behavior and avoid introducing bugs.

Rename the ch_mask member of snd_soc_dai_link_ch_map to cpu_ch_mask,
as that is what it is used for.
The CPU and codec channel masks are not necessarily the same, and are
quite likely different. SoundWire and I2S/TDM both support assigning
different sample slots to each codec, so for example channel 0 on each
codec could map to different channels at the CPU. So it's quite normal
that the channel mask at the CPU end is different for each codec, but
the codec channel masks are the same for each codec.

Andrey Golovko <andrey.golovko@gmail.com> says:
v1 was a single patch that powered the SDCA Function up in the port
PRE_PREP callback:
https://lore.kernel.org/all/20260813001500.9218-1-andrey.golovko@gmail.com/
Mark asked whether that does the right thing when userspace restarts the
stream with SNDRV_PCM_IOCTL_RESUME instead of preparing it, and pointed
out that a stream can also be suspended while prepared; Vijendar agreed.
The answer to the first question is no, and it is reproducible on this
machine, so v2 adds a patch to fix that path. The second case turns out
to be a wider gap that neither patch closes; it is described at the end.
Measured on an ASUS ProArt PX13 HN7306EAC (AMD ACP7.0, two TAS2783 on
SDW1). A test program plays a 440/660 Hz tone straight to the hw
device, the machine goes through an s2idle cycle, and on -ESTRPIPE the
program calls snd_pcm_resume() only - never snd_pcm_prepare(). The tone
is measured through the internal microphone against the noise floor of
the same run, and the peripheral registers are read out of band.
With v1 alone (broonie/sound for-next + v1):
before suspend after snd_pcm_resume()
DP1 PrepareCtrl 0x1 / 0x2 0x0 / 0x0
PDE23 req / act 0x0 / 0x0 0x3 / 0x3
tone 440 / 660 Hz +65.5 / +75.2 dB -1.7 / +1.8 dB
snd_pcm_resume() returned 0 and the PCM stayed RUNNING, so nothing in
the stack reported a failure - the speakers were simply silent. The
ports were never prepared again, so the PRE_PREP callback v1 relies on
was never reached.
With this series:
before suspend after snd_pcm_resume()
DP1 PrepareCtrl 0x1 / 0x2 0x1 / 0x2
PDE23 req / act 0x0 / 0x0 0x0 / 0x0
tone 440 / 660 Hz +73.7 / +88.3 dB +73.7 / +88.5 dB
ChannelEn also moved to the other bank across the cycle, as it should
when the ports are prepared afresh.
The ordinary path is unaffected. The same test recovering with
snd_pcm_prepare() instead of snd_pcm_resume(), on the same build, gives
+79.8 / +86.9 dB after the cycle with the ports prepared and the bank
switched back.
This also explains the negative test Robin Everaars reported for v1 on
the same board earlier today: playback opened without an error, both
amplifiers stayed attached, and the speakers were silent - which is what
this path looks like from userspace.
The case this series does not cover
===================================
A stream that is suspended while merely PREPARED never sees a trigger at
all: snd_pcm_do_suspend() returns early when the stream is not running,
and snd_pcm_do_resume() returns early unless the suspended state was
RUNNING or DRAINING. Userspace then calls snd_pcm_start(), the ports
are enabled, and the peripheral has lost its port state without anything
in the path noticing. Patch 1 cannot help there - the SoundWire stream
is still SDW_STREAM_PREPARED, so sdw_prepare_stream() is a no-op by
design - and neither can the codec, which has no way to tell the core
that its ports went away.
The bus does know: the peripheral goes UNATTACHED and comes back
uninitialized. Making that invalidate the prepared state of the streams
it takes part in looks like the right place to me, but it is a core
change and I have not written it. Say if it belongs in this series.
Link: https://patch.msgid.link/20260813194000.10412-1-andrey.golovko@gmail.com
A peripheral loses its Data Port configuration when the controller is
power-gated during system suspend, so the ports have to be prepared
again before the stream can be enabled. That happens on its own when
userspace calls snd_pcm_prepare() after SNDRV_PCM_STATE_SUSPENDED, but
an application is also allowed to restart the stream with
SNDRV_PCM_IOCTL_RESUME on a card that advertises SNDRV_PCM_INFO_RESUME,
as the AMD ACP platforms do. That path only reaches the trigger
callback, sdw_enable_stream() writes the channels of ports that were
never prepared, and playback silently produces nothing: the PCM keeps
running, no error is reported anywhere, and the speakers stay quiet
until the stream is torn down and set up again.
Prepare the stream on SNDRV_PCM_TRIGGER_RESUME, before enabling it.
The SoundWire core expects exactly this: sdw_prepare_stream() accepts a
disabled stream and then reapplies the bus parameters without
recomputing them, which it documents as the resume case.

commit 87a3f5c8ac ("ASoC: sdw_utils: cs42l43: allow spk component names
to be combined") moved spk:cs42l43-spk generation from rtd_init() into
the asoc_sdw_rtd_init() generic path by adding component_name to
codec_info_list entries. However, only the 0x4243 cs42l43 entry was
updated; the 0x2A3B entry (vendor_id 0x01fa, Cirrus Logic cs42l43 with
sidecar bridge) was missed.
Without component_name on the 0x2A3B dp6 DAI, asoc_sdw_rtd_init() never
accumulates spk_components and never appends 'spk:cs42l43-spk' (or its
sidecar alias 'spk:cs35l56-bridge') to card->components. The sof-soundwire
UCM regex ' spk:([a-z0-9]+...)' then fails to match, causing WirePlumber
to mark all HiFi profiles as unavailable=no and fall back to the Off
profile — resulting in Dummy Output in GNOME.
The existing sidecar redirect in asoc_sdw_rtd_init() already handles the
SOC_SDW_SIDECAR_AMPS case: when component_name is 'cs42l43-spk' and
sidecar amps are active, it substitutes 'cs35l56-bridge' into
card->components, which matches the existing cs35l56-bridge.conf UCM file.

Marco Crivellari <marco.crivellari@suse.com> says:
Currently the code uses the per-cpu workqueue system_long_wq to schedule
long running works.
Unbound works could benefit from scheduler task placement, to optimize
performance and power consumption. Another good reason to have this unbound,
is the "queue_delayed_work()" function, used to enqueue the work item.
More details on this will follow in the next section.
Recently, a new unbound workqueue specific for long running work has been
added:
c116737e97 ("workqueue: Add system_dfl_long_wq for long unbound works")
~~~ Details about queue_delayed_work ~~~
system_long_wq is a per-cpu workqueue and it is used as a parameter of
queue_delayed_work(). This function schedule an item that it will later
be enqueued (once the timer will fire). __queue_delayed_work() does the job
receiving as "cpu" WORK_CPU_UNBOUND:
if (housekeeping_enabled(HK_TYPE_TIMER)) {
// [....]
} else {
if (likely(cpu == WORK_CPU_UNBOUND))
add_timer_global(timer);
else
add_timer_on(timer, cpu);
}
The timer is global, so can fire everywhere, and the work item will be
enqueued where the timer fired.
Since the workqueue work doesn't rely on per-cpu variables, there is no
obvious reason that justify the use of a per-cpu workqueue. So change the
workqueue with the new system_dfl_long_wq, so that the used workqueue is
now unbound and can benefit from scheduler task placement.
Merge series from Sascha Hauer <s.hauer@pengutronix.de>:
These are some patches for the tlv320adcx140 codec we are carrying
around for a while, time to upstream them.
Merge series from Richard Fitzgerald <rf@opensource.cirrus.com>:
This series fixes a problem with soc_sdw_utils.c calling the wrong
codec init callbacks, because it assumed that the DAI name could be
used to uniquely identify the codec. This isn't the case, especially
on SDCA which is a generic driver for many parts.
The first patch is needed to add a missing export to SoundWire core.
The CS42L43 codec's load detection can return different impedance values
that map to either HEADPHONE or LINEOUT jack types. However, the
soc_jack_pins array only maps SND_JACK_HEADPHONE to the "Headphone" DAPM
pin, not SND_JACK_LINEOUT.
When headphones are detected with an impedance that maps to LINEOUT
(such as impedance value 0x2), the driver reports SND_JACK_LINEOUT.
Since this doesn't match the jack pin mask, the "Headphone" DAPM pin
is not activated, and no audio is routed to the headphone outputs.
Fix by adding SND_JACK_LINEOUT to the Headphone pin mask, so that both
headphone and line-out detection properly enable the headphone output
path.
This fixes no audio output on devices like the Lenovo ThinkPad P16 Gen 3
where headphones are detected with LINEOUT impedance.
asoc_sdw_rtd_init() needs to call the rtd_init() callbacks for each
codec in a dailink. It was finding the codecs by looking for the
matching DAI name in codec_info_list[] but this isn't correct, because
the DAI name isn't guaranteed to be unique. Parts using the same codec
driver (so the same DAI names) might require different machine driver
setup.
Instead, get the struct sdw_slave and extract the SoundWire part ID.
Use this to lookup the entry in codec_info_list[]. This is the same
identity info that was used to find the entry when the machine driver
created the dailink.
