So the PWRMD field in CNFG1_LDO is both the enable bit and the mode.
You can't change one without stepping on the other.
The problem is that enable() from the regulator core just writes
enable_mask (which is PWRMD_NORMAL). If you'd called set_mode(LPM)
then disabled and re-enabled, the mode gets reset to NORMAL. And
set_mode updates the register through the same field, so it can
accidentally enable a disabled regulator.
Fix it by storing the mode in per-regulator data. A custom enable
writes whatever mode was last set. set_mode only touches hardware
if the regulator is already on; otherwise it just caches the value.
Add of_map_mode while here so the initial mode can be wired from DT.

This issue was pointed out by Sashiko.
vbbck is fed internally from vio18. For the MT6359, the default supply
name was incorrectly set as "VIO18", instead of the supply's default
"VIO18". In practice this still works, but it causes the regulator
description copy and replace to always happen. For the MT6359P the
name is correct.
Fix the supply name for MT6359 so that both instances are the same and
correct. Also copy the comment about the internal supply from the MT6359
list to the MT6359P list.

The driver reuses the OF node of the parent multi-function device but
still sets the of_node field of the regulator configuration to any prior
OF node.
Since the MFD child device does not have an OF node set until probe is
called, this field is set to NULL on first probe and to the reused OF
node if the driver is later rebound.
As the device_set_of_node_from_dev() helper drops a reference to any
prior OF node before taking a reference to the new one this can
apparently also confuse LLMs like Sashiko which flags it as a potential
use-after-free (which it is not).
Drop the confusing and redundant configuration of_node assignment.

scmi_regulator_probe() calls of_find_node_by_name() which takes a

The ldo_vcn33_[12]_wifi and ldo_vcn33_[12]_bt are just two regulator
outputs instead of four. The wifi and bt parts refer to separate enable
bits that are OR-ed together to affect the actual regulator output. The
separate bits allow the wifi and bt stacks to enable their power without
coordination between them. These have been deprecated in favor of proper
nodes matching the output.
Add proper ldo_vcn33_[12] regulators to replace the existing ones. The
enable status is synced to just one of the two enable bits, and the
other is forced off. This makes the handling in other bits simpler.
The existing *_(bt|wifi) regulators are converted to no-op regulators
that are fed from their new respective ldo_vcn33_[12] regulator. This
allows existing device trees to continue to work.

The MT6359 regulator DT binding defines the supply names for the PMIC.
Add support for them by adding .supply_name field settings for each
regulator. The buck regulators each have their own supply. The name
of the supply is related to the name of the buck regulator. The LDOs
have shared supplies.
Add the supply name to the declaration of each regulator. At the moment
they are declared explicitly, but the buck regulator macro can be made
to derive both the match string and supply name from the base name once
the *_sshub regulators are figured out and removed. For context, the
*_sshub regulators are not separate regulators, but separate settings
for the same name regulators without the "_sshub" suffix.

Instead of restoring a dedicated lookup array, restructure the probe
function to combine regulator registration with IRQ registration in
the same loop. This way the rdev returned by devm_regulator_register()
is naturally available for assigning to irq_data.rdev without any
auxiliary data structure.
Non-regulator IRQs (SENSOR, TIMEOUT) that don't correspond to any
registered regulator are registered with rdev=NULL, and the IRQ handler
is protected with a NULL check to avoid crashing.

GPIO-signalled ACPI events on Intel platforms and a generic

improved support for software-node-based lookup and removed more

The bindings describe the OTG enable GPIO as optional, but the driver
gets upset if it's not provided in the device tree.
Make the driver accept the absence of the GPIO, and just use register
writes to handle OTG mode in that case, skipping the error message for
-ENOENT.

The ROHM BD72720 supports so called LDON-HEAD -mode, in which the buck10
is expected to be supplying power for an LDO. In this mode, the buck10
voltage will follow what is set for the LDO, on order to lower the
power-loss in the LDO.
This hardware configuration can be adverticed via the device-tree. When
this is done, the Linux driver should omit registering the voltage
control operations for the buck10, because the voltage control is now
done by the hardware.
This is done by modifying the buck10 regulator descriptor, before
passing it to the regulator registration functions. There is an
off-by-one error when the regulator descriptor array is indexed, and
wrong descriptor is modified causing the LDO1 operations to be modified
instead of the BUCK10 operations.
Fix this by correcting the indexing.

This series is part of a broader collection of regulator related

Patch 1 adds the names of the power supply inputs to the binding.
Patch 2 adds the supply names from the DT binding change in patch 1
to the regulator descriptions in the driver. This patch has a
checkpatch.pl warnings, but I wonder if it's because the context size
for checking complex macros is not large enough.
Device tree changes will be sent separately. The goal is to get the
regulator tree as complete as possible. This includes adding supply
names to other regulator DT bindings, and adding all the supply links
to the existing DTs.

André Svensson <andre.svensson@axis.com> says:
This series introduces a boolean DT property, dlg,no-gpio-control, for
the DA91xx regulators. Use this property to indicate that GPIO control
is not configured with the functions DVC/RELOAD/EN, allowing buck
registers to be cached.
The DA9121 driver checks dlg,no-gpio-control and updates regmap_config's
volatile_table if the property is present. Buck registers are removed
from the volatile_table if the property is present, enabling caching of
the registers, which removes I2C reads when performing an I2C write to
the buck registers.
Link: https://patch.msgid.link/20260320-no-gpio-control-v2-0-dbc938e462cb@axis.com
Signed-off-by: Mark Brown <broonie@kernel.org>
Some BUCK registers may change without software writes when GPIO pins
are configured for functions DVC/RELOAD/EN. If the board does
not use these pin-controlled features, caching is possible.
Caching BUCK registers removes unnecessary I2C reads when performing
register updates. For example, updating regulator mode can result in
two I2C reads, one from the regulator core regulator_set_mode() and one
from the DA9121 driver, where da9121_buck_set_mode() uses
regmap_update_bits() (read/modify/write).
Check for the optional DT property dlg,no-gpio-control. When present,
select the regmap configuration that does not mark the BUCK1 register
block (DA9121_REG_BUCK_BUCK1_0..DA9121_REG_BUCK_BUCK1_6) as volatile, so
that regmap can cache BUCK1 registers and avoid unnecessary I2C reads.
The property dlg,no-gpio-control is required to ensure that BUCK1
registers can be cached, as the absence of relevant GPIO DT properties
does not imply that the RELOAD/DVC/EN GPIO functions are unused. These
functions are provided by DA91xx GPIO pins and may be controlled by
external hardware without corresponding GPIO DT properties. The
dlg,no-gpio-control property explicitly indicates that none of these
GPIO functions are used.
The dlg,no-gpio-control property is mutually exclusive with
enable-gpios, regardless of whether the referenced GPIO is connected to
a GPIO pin or the IC_EN pin, since pulling IC_EN low powers down the
regulator and registers are reinitialized at startup, leaving cached
values stale.

Robby Cai <robby.cai@nxp.com> says:
The FP9931 regulator requires a valid "vin" supply to operate correctly.
Therefore, the driver should treat "vin" as a mandatory supply.
This patchset updates the binding documentation to mark vin-supply as a
required property, and modifies the driver accordingly. As suggested in
the reviews from Andreas and Mark, v2 switches to using
devm_regulator_get() since the supply is mandatory.
The FP9931 requires a mandatory "vin" power supply to operate.

type_name and set it per device type so the probed message matches the
actual PMIC. While here, make the PCA9451A case explicit.

Kernel warning on i.MX8MP-EVK when doing module test:

Per PCA945[X] specification: The IRQ_B pin is pulled low when any unmasked

Merge series from Franz Schnyder <franz.schnyder@toradex.com>:
The IRQ_B pin is an open-drain output. The datasheet specifies, that the
IRQ_B pin is pulled low when any unmasked interrupt bit status
is changed, and it is released high once the application processor reads
the INT1 register. As it specifies a level-low behavior, it should not
force a falling-edge interrupt.
Remove the IRQF_TRIGGER_FALLING to not force the falling-edge interrupt
and instead rely on the flag from the device tree.
Set the IRQF_SHARED to be able to share the interrupt line with
other devices. If the interrupt has not been triggered by the PMIC,
return IRQ_NONE.
The PF9453 datasheet specifies the IRQ_B pin as an open drain output
with level-low behavior. This makes it capable to share the interrupt
line. To allow shared interrupts, the driver must handle the case
if the interrupt has been triggered by another device.

In mt6363_regulator_probe(), devm_add_action_or_reset() is used to
automatically dispose of the IRQ mapping if the probe fails or the
device is removed.
The manual call to irq_dispose_mapping() in the error path was redundant
as the reset action already triggers mt6363_irq_remove(). Furthermore,
the manual call incorrectly passed the hardware IRQ number (info->hwirq)
instead of the virtual IRQ mapping (info->virq).
Remove the redundant and incorrect manual disposal.

Patch 1, 2 and 3 (previously 2-4) enable flexible power tree
configurations for the SpacemiT P1 PMIC. Hardcoded supply assumptions
are replaced with explicit devicetree properties. PMIC supply connections
are board-design decisions. Moving this to DT allows supporting varied
topologies without driver modifications.
The supply binding change is an ABI change. The breakage is acceptable:
Yixun Lan checked the DTS tree queued for v6.20 and found no consumers
of the P1/PMIC regulator yet [1]. For the two K1 boards in-tree
(BPI-F3 and Jupiter), initial power settings come from boot firmware and
a probe failure of pmic node "spacemit,p1" has minimal impact.
In v4, the old "vin-supply" property is dropped from the binding
document as the updated driver no longer parses it and there is no
fallback logic. Only the per-rail names ("vin1-supply", "vin2-supply",
...) are supported going forward.
Intermittent dtbs_check warnings are expected while the binding and DTS
changes land through different trees, but will resolve once both are
merged.

Update supply names to match the P1 PMIC's actual hardware pinout where
each buck has an individual VIN pin (vin1-vin6) and LDO groups have
dedicated input pins (aldoin, dldoin1, dldoin2).
This is an ABI change from the original "vin" and "buck5" supplies.

This converts some of the visually simpler cases that have been split
over multiple lines. I only did the ones that are easy to verify the
resulting diff by having just that final GFP_KERNEL argument on the next
line.
Somebody should probably do a proper coccinelle script for this, but for
me the trivial script actually resulted in an assertion failure in the
middle of the script. I probably had made it a bit _too_ trivial.
So after fighting that far a while I decided to just do some of the
syntactically simpler cases with variations of the previous 'sed'
scripts.
The more syntactically complex multi-line cases would mostly really want
whitespace cleanup anyway.

This was done entirely with mindless brute force, using
git grep -l '\<k[vmz]*alloc_objs*(.*, GFP_KERNEL)' |
xargs sed -i 's/\(alloc_objs*(.*\), GFP_KERNEL)/\1)/'
to convert the new alloc_obj() users that had a simple GFP_KERNEL
argument to just drop that argument.
Note that due to the extreme simplicity of the scripting, any slightly
more complex cases spread over multiple lines would not be triggered:
they definitely exist, but this covers the vast bulk of the cases, and
the resulting diff is also then easier to check automatically.
For the same reason the 'flex' versions will be done as a separate
conversion.

This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from
scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. The script is designed to
avoid scalar types (which need careful case-by-case checking), and
instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union
object instances:
Single allocations: kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with: kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...)
Array allocations: kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with: kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...)
Flex array allocations: kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...)
are replaced with: kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...)
(where TYPE may also be *VAR)
The resulting allocations no longer return "void *", instead returning
"TYPE *".

The sanity checks being removed in this commit are useless as earlier
code already checks for all conditions, including all error cases like
out-of-bounds conditions. In other words, the code being removed here
has no effect, as any potential error it could catch will already have
been caught by earlier code.
The checks removed here are also incomplete (as they're off-by-one) -
they should have been checking >= ARRAY_SIZE() to be complete.
Simply remove this redundant and incorrect code.

When creating the regulator object, associated with a consumer device,
the supply_name is string formatted into a statically sized buffer on
the stack, then strdup()'ed onto the heap.
Not only is the dance on the stack unnecessary, but when the device's
name is long we might not fit the constructed supply_name in the fixed
64 byte buffer on the stack.
One such case can be seen on the Qualcomm Rb3Gen2 board, where we find a
PCIe controller, with a PCIe switch, with a USB controller, with a USB
hub, consuming a regulator. In this example the dev->kobj.name itself is
62 characters long.
Drop the temporary buffer on the stack and kasprintf() the string
directly on the heap, both to simplify the code, and to remove the
length limitation.

Merge series from André Draszik <andre.draszik@linaro.org>:
This series extends the existing S2MPG10 PMIC driver to add support for
the regulators, and adds new S2MPG11 core and regulator drivers.
The patches are kept together in one series, due to S2MPG11 and its
regulators being very similar to S2MPG10.
The Samsung S2MPG11 PMIC is a Power Management IC for mobile
applications with buck converters, various LDOs, power meters, and
additional GPIO interfaces. It typically complements an S2MPG10 PMIC in
a main/sub configuration as the sub-PMIC and both are used on the
Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro (oriole / raven).
A DT update for Oriole / Raven to enable these is required which I will
send out separately.
Currently, GPIOs claimed by this driver for external rail control
all show up with "s2mps11-regulator" as consumer, which is not
very informative.
Switch to using the regulator name via desc->name instead, using the
device name as fallback.

buck converters, various LDOs, power meters, and additional GPIO
interfaces. It typically complements an S2MPG10 PMIC in a main/sub
configuration as the sub-PMIC.
It has 12 buck, 1 buck-boost, and 15 LDO rails. Several of these can
either be controlled via software (register writes) or via external
signals, in particular by:
* input pins connected to a main processor's:
* GPIO pins
* other pins that are e.g. firmware- or power-domain-controlled
without explicit driver intervention
* a combination of input pins and register writes.
Control via input pins allows PMIC rails to be controlled by firmware,
e.g. during standby/suspend or as part of power domain handling where
otherwise that would not be possible. Additionally toggling a pin is
faster than register writes, and it also allows the PMIC to ensure that
any necessary timing requirements between rails are respected
automatically if multiple rails are to be enabled or disabled quasi
simultaneously.
This commit implements support for all these rails and control
combination.
Note1: For an externally controlled rail, the regulator_ops provide an
empty ::enable() and no ::disable() implementations, even though Linux
can not enable the rail and one might think ::enable could be NULL.
Without ops->enable(), the regulator core will assume enabling such a
rail failed, though, and in turn never add a reference to its parent
(supplier) rail. Once a different (Linux-controlled) sibling (consumer)
rail on that same parent rail gets disabled, the parent gets disabled
(cutting power to the externally controlled rail although it should
stay on), and the system will misbehave.
Note2: While external control via input pins appears to exist on other
versions of this PMIC, there is more flexibility in this version, in
particular there is a selection of input pins to choose from for each
rail (which must therefore be configured accordingly if in use),
whereas other versions don't have this flexibility.

The upcoming S2MPG11 support needs a similar, but different version of
::set_voltage_time(). For S2MPG10, the downwards and upwards ramps for
a rail are at different offsets at the same bit positions, while for
S2MPG11 the ramps are at the same offset at different bit positions.

The S2MPG10 PMIC is a Power Management IC for mobile applications with
buck converters, various LDOs, power meters, RTC, clock outputs, and
additional GPIO interfaces.
It has 10 buck and 31 LDO rails. Several of these can either be
controlled via software (register writes) or via external signals, in
particular by:
* one out of several input pins connected to a main processor's:
* GPIO pins
* other pins that are e.g. firmware- or power-domain-controlled

* a combination of input pins and register writes.
Control via input pins allows PMIC rails to be controlled by firmware,

faster than register writes, and it also allows the PMIC to ensure that
any necessary timing requirements between rails are respected
automatically if multiple rails are to be enabled or disabled quasi
simultaneously.
This commit implements support for all these rails and control
combinations.
Additional data needs to be stored for each regulator, e.g. the input
pin for external control, or a rail-specific ramp-rate for when
enabling a buck-rail. Therefore, probe() is updated slightly to make
that possible.
Note1: For an externally controlled rail, the regulator_ops provide an
empty ::enable() and no ::disable() implementations, even though Linux
can not enable the rail and one might think ::enable could be NULL.
Without ops->enable(), the regulator core will assume enabling such a

Refactor s2mps14_pmic_enable_ext_control() and s2mps11_of_parse_cb()
slightly as a preparation for adding S2MPG10 and S2MPG11 support, as
both of those PMICs also support control of rails via GPIOs.
This also includes the following to avoid further updates in follow-up
commits:
* On S2MPG10 and S2MPG11, external rail control can be via GPIO or via
non-GPIO signals, hence passing a GPIO is allowed to be optional.
This avoids inappropriate verbose driver messages.
* Prepare to allow use of standard DT property name 'enable-gpios' for
newer platforms instead of vendor-specific 'samsung,ext-control'.

For the upcoming S2MPG10 and S2MPG11 support, we need to be able to
parse -supply properties in the PMIC's DT node.
This currently doesn't work, because the code here currently points the
regulator core at each individual regulator sub-node, and therefore the
regulator core is unable to find the -supply properties.
Update the code to simply let the regulator core handle all the parsing
by adding the ::of_match and ::regulators_node members to all existing
regulator descriptions, by adding ::of_parse_cb() to those
regulators which support the vendor-specific samsung,ext-control-gpios
to parse it (S2MPS14), and by dropping the explicit call to
of_regulator_match().
Configuring the PMIC to respect the external control GPIOs via
s2mps14_pmic_enable_ext_control() is left outside ::of_parse_cb()
because the regulator core ignores errors other than -EPROBE_DEFER from
that callback, while the code currently fails probe on register write
errors and I believe it should stay that way.
The driver can now avoid the devm_gpiod_unhinge() dance due to
simpler error handling of GPIO descriptor acquisition.
This change also has the advantage of reducing runtime memory
consumption by quite a bit as the driver doesn't need to allocate a
'struct of_regulator_match' and a 'struct gpio_desc *' for each
regulator for all PMICs as the regulator core does that. This saves
40+8 bytes on arm64 for each individual regulator on all supported
PMICs (even on non-S2MPS14 due to currently unnecessarily allocating
the extra memory unconditionally). With the upcoming S2MPG10 and
S2MPG11 support, this amounts to 1640+328 and 1120+224 bytes
respectively.
