Like many areas of the kernel IIO has seen a lot of new contributors
though in this case that is not all AI driven, but also reflects and annual
surge of student contributions from usp.br. We also have several new
regular reviewers who are helping with the surge (thanks to all our
active reviewers!)
Given there was a lot of cases of similar improvements applied to
different drivers, I have grouped those into a special section (various
drivers) to avoid mass duplication.
New device support
------------------
adi,ad4130
- Add support for AD4129-4, AD4129-8, AD4130-4, AD4131-4 and AD4131-8
after reworking the driver to be suitable for multiple device support.
adi,ad4080
- Support the AD4880 and AD4884 dual-channel parts. Interesting parts
as have two separate data pipelines (including SPI buses interfaces),
but the only current backend IP combines the two so they cannot be
treated as independent devices.
adi,ad5706r
- New driver for this 4 channel current output DAC.
adi,ad4691
- New driver supporting this family of ADCs. Support for AD4691, AD4692,
AD4693 and AD4694 which support either 8 or 16 channels with different
max sampling rates. Feature rich driver including SPI offload support.
adi,ltc2983
- Add support for the ADT7604 in which the same sensor die as the
LTC2984 is used for leak detection (liquid coverage of a sense area).
allwinner,adc
- Support for A523 SoCs. Similar to existing parts but with an additional
clock. Includes adding support for non contiguous channel lookup
for in kernel use (fwnode_xlate callback).
broadcomm,apds9999
- New driver for the APDS9999 Ambient Light, RGB and proximity sensor.
memsic,mmc5983
- New driver for this 3-axis magnetometer.
taos,tsl2772

adi,*
- Top level ADI entry maintainer switch from Lars-Peter Clausen to Nuno Sá
reflecting what has been the reality for some time. Thanks to Lars-Peter

to Marcelo Schmitt for taking these over.
sensiron,scd30
- Replace maintainer (Tomasz Duszynski) with Maxwell Doose.
Cleanups, minor fixes and hardening.
------------------------------------
Documentation
- Add missing powerdown modes to ABI docs.
- Use modern helpers for buffer definition in the examples.
core
- Rework of the handling of timestamps so that the offset is cached at
buffer resize time (during enabling) rather than based on assumption
that relied in the timestamp being last and the largest element and
so always 8 bytes before end of the scan. Underlying problem was
triggered by scans with repeated type elements such as quaternions
with each element more than 2 bytes - Giving a 16 byte+ aligned channel
with result that a following timestamp may be 16 bytes from end of scan,
rather than 8. Note that for the bosch,bno55 a compatibility hack means
that it will duplicate the timestamp putting a second copy at previously
incorrect location.
- Tidy up use of kernel types in buffer code to not use int64_t given all
calls use s64.
various drivers
- Drop unused driver_data in device id tables - includes cleanup of various
drivers that had only one choice where it can be hard coded elsewhere.
- Move to named initializers for many i2c_device_id and platform_device_id
tables (I have no idea how we go into habit of using named initializers
for only a subset of the table types - e.g. of_device_id).
- Make IIO_CHAN_SOFT_TIMESTAMP() macro a compound literal allowing simple
use in various drivers that do dynamic channel definitions. Use it in
all such cases.
- Use dev_err_probe() and local dev variables to tidy up older drivers.
- Switch more drivers to devm_mutex_init() to provide minor debug benefits.
- Reorder code to put MODULE_DEVICE_TABLE() next to the tables.
- Lots of use of cleanup.h magic to improve code flow, often including
related refactors such as introducing helpers.
- Replacement of usleep_range() with fsleep()
- Reduce logging noise where functions either provide their own extensive
reports on error, or where a clear error code is returned to userspace.
- Minor spelling and style fixes (improving bracket usage, not using
__packed etc)
hid-sensors-*
- Drop helpers for setting channel bit masks in favor of a compound
literal at the call site. Also general cleanup of surrounding code.
hid-sensors-magn
- Use u32 rather than bare unsigned for types.
hid-sensors-rotation
- Make sue of ext_scan_type handling for static case rather than duplicate
chan_info structures.
adi,ad3552r
- Use field_get() to replace open coded equivalent.
adi,ad4170
- Switch from switch to table lookup for GPIO modes.
adi,ad5686
- Apply IWYU principal to included a consistent set of headers.
- Deduplicate regmaps for AD5684 and AD5693 as identical.
- Switch from an enum value in driver data and array look up to pointers
to separate structures, improving readabilty and avoiding issues with
0 value when using helpers to deal with different firmware types.
- Add of_match_id table to SPI driver rather than relying on fallback to
spi_device_id table.
- Introduce some helpers for powerdown mask control.
- Add helpers for control sync simplifying a couple of corner cases.
- Docs fixes.
- Add an ops structure to simplify future addition of operations beyond
read and write.
adi,ad7191
- Switch to best practice of using device_property_present() to detect
if an optional property is there rather than error values on querying
the property.
adi,ad7280a
- Use local variables to improve readability of breaking up chan-address.
adi,ad7825
- Cleanup a type mismatch in clamp() call.
adi,ad799x
- Include improvements
- Local dev variable to shorten code lines.
- Cache regulator voltage at probe (these never change in practice)
- Convert to devm for all unwind handling.
adi,ad9832
- Improve include relevance including replacing kernel.h with more specific
headers.
- Simplify some maths.
adi,ad9834
- Improve include relevance including replacing kernel.h with more specific
headers.
adi,adt7316
- Add a comment to avoid future 'fixes' for error handling during the
odd sequence used to flip from I2C mode to SPI mode.
adi,adxl*
- Documentation consistency improvements.
asahi-kasei,ak8975
- Fix missing runtime pm calls for buffered capture.
- Fix missing pm_runtime_put_autosuspend() in an error path that would leave
the device stuck on.
- Close a potential uninitialized kernel stack leak.
- Extensive driver modernization including: header relevance, fsleep()
various minor bugs, dropping duplicate error messages and avoiding
magic lengths for buffers.
- Replace opencoded polling with iopoll().
- Add error checking to gpio reads.
avia,hx711
- Move scale computation from global data to per device avoiding problems
if multiple devices present.
- General binding text cleanup.
bosch,bmg160
- Add missing mount-matrix entry to binding.
bosch,bno55
- Terminate error strings with newlines.
devantech,srf08
- Replace sprintf() with sysfs_emit() and sysfs_emit_at() to make intent
clearer.
freescale,mma8452
- Add missing return value check.
- Fix potential probe ordering issue by switching to non devm irq request.
linear,ltc2309
- Add chip specific read delays.
- Improve chip_info structure, adding __counted_by_ptr marking and
reorganizing to improve packing.
linear,ltc2983
- Fix a firmware combination where default n_wires of 2 bypasses exclusion
of adi,current-rotate whereas explicitly setting it to 2 does not.
- Fix potential race with completion reinit.
- Improve error message wording consistency.
- Use fwnode_property_present() to detect optional properties rather
than fragile return value checking.
microchip,mcp3422
- Use of GENMASK(), FIELD_GET(), FIELD_PREP() to improve readability and
generally modernize driver.
microchip,mcp47feb02
- Fix binding example to use a possible I2C address.
- Fix binding bounds on channel number.
- Standardize binding example indentation
nxp,saradc
- Increase chances of recovering from a failure in the interrupt handler
by notifying the trigger that it can reenable even when the read failed.
- Use field_get() to replace opencoded equivalent.
qualcomm,*
- Standardize on Qualcomm company naming in Kconfig.
richtek,rtq6056
- Add i2c_device_id table for legacy instantiation.
samsung,ssp
- Replace custom timestamp channel macro with main one.

ti,ads1298
- Fix wrong comment on timeout (and minor code improvement)
- Drop unnecessary CONFIG2 write during init.
ti,ads7950
- Check ret rather that ret < 0 for spi_setup() call.
- Use fully devm managed resources including moving to
devm_regulator_get_enable_read_voltage() at probe time rather than
querying evey time.
- Using spi_optimize_message() to reduce CPU usage.
ti,ads8688
- User read_avail() callback rather than open coding handling of
available attributes.
ti,opt3001
- Header relevance improvements
- Use GENMASK for field definitions to improve readability.
vishay,vcnl4000
- Switch from enum in device_data to individual names structures
impmroving code readabililty.

fastrpc_map_lookup returns a raw pointer after releasing fl->lock. The
caller fastrpc_map_create then calls fastrpc_map_get (kref_get_unless_zero)
on this unprotected pointer. A concurrent MEM_UNMAP can free the map
between the lock release and the kref operation, resulting in a
use-after-free on the freed slab object.
Restore the take_ref parameter to fastrpc_map_lookup so the reference
is acquired atomically under fl->lock before the pointer is exposed to
the caller.

The faulting address 0x178 corresponds to the lock variable inside
struct fastrpc_channel_ctx, confirming that cctx is NULL when
fastrpc_rpmsg_callback() attempts to take the spinlock.
There are two issues here. First, dev_set_drvdata() is called before
spin_lock_init() and idr_init(), leaving a window where the callback
can retrieve a valid cctx pointer but operate on an uninitialized
spinlock. Second, the rpmsg channel becomes live as soon as the driver
is bound, so fastrpc_rpmsg_callback() can fire before dev_set_drvdata()
is called at all, resulting in dev_get_drvdata() returning NULL.
Fix both issues by moving all cctx initialization ahead of
dev_set_drvdata() so the structure is fully initialized before it
becomes visible to the callback, and add a NULL check in
fastrpc_rpmsg_callback() as a guard against any remaining window.

fastrpc_get_args() uses find_vma() to look up the VMA for a user-provided

There is a race between fastrpc_device_release() and the workqueue
that processes DSP responses. When the user closes the file descriptor,
fastrpc_device_release() frees the fastrpc_user structure. Concurrently,
an in-flight DSP invocation can complete and fastrpc_rpmsg_callback()
schedules context cleanup via schedule_work(&ctx->put_work). If the
workqueue runs fastrpc_context_free() in parallel with or after
fastrpc_device_release() has freed the user structure, it dereferences
the freed fastrpc_user. Depending on the state of the context at the
time of the race, any one of the following accesses can be hit:
1. fastrpc_buf_free() calls fastrpc_ipa_to_dma_addr(buf->fl->cctx, ...)
to strip the SID bits from the stored IOVA before passing the
physical address to dma_free_coherent().
2. fastrpc_free_map() reads map->fl->cctx->vmperms[0].vmid to
reconstruct the source permission bitmask needed for the
qcom_scm_assign_mem() call that returns memory from the DSP VM
back to HLOS.
3. fastrpc_free_map() acquires map->fl->lock to safely remove the
map node from the fl->maps list.
The resulting use-after-free manifests as:
pc : fastrpc_buf_free+0x38/0x80 [fastrpc]

Add kref-based reference counting to fastrpc_user. Have each invoke
context take a reference on the user at allocation time and release it
when the context is freed. Release the initial reference in
fastrpc_device_release() at file close. Move the teardown of the user
structure — freeing pending contexts, maps, mmaps, and the channel
context reference — into the kref release callback fastrpc_user_free(),
so that it runs only when the last reference is dropped, regardless of
whether that happens at device close or after the final in-flight
context completes.

ntsync_schedule() takes the absolute timeout from userspace and hands it to
schedule_hrtimeout_range_clock() with HRTIMER_MODE_ABS. For the default
CLOCK_MONOTONIC path, it does not call timens_ktime_to_host() first.
A process inside a CLOCK_MONOTONIC time namespace computes the absolute
timeout in its own clock view. The kernel reads the same value against the
host clock. The two differ by the namespace offset. The timeout then fires
too early or too late.
Other users of absolute timeouts run the ktime through
timens_ktime_to_host() before starting the hrtimer. ntsync was added later
and missed that step.
/dev/ntsync is mode 0666. Any user inside a time namespace that can
open it is affected. The visible effect is wrong timeout behaviour
for Wine in a container that sets a CLOCK_MONOTONIC offset.
Reproducer: unshare --user --time, set the monotonic offset to -10s,
issue NTSYNC_IOC_WAIT_ANY with a 100 ms absolute MONOTONIC timeout.
The baseline run elapses about 100 ms. The run inside the namespace
elapses about 0 ms.
Apply timens_ktime_to_host() to the parsed timeout when the caller
did not set NTSYNC_WAIT_REALTIME. The helper does nothing in the
initial time namespace, so the fast path is unchanged.

pci_device_id more idiomatic and compact.
Also drop trailing zeros in the list initializer that the compiler takes
care of then. The driver doesn't use neither .class, .class_mask nor

After a kexec/kdump reboot, the macb Ethernet controller fails to
receive any packets, causing DHCP to hang indefinitely and the network
interface to be unusable despite link being up.
The root cause is that RP1's level-triggered MSI-X interrupt sources
(such as macb on hwirq 6) may have their internal state machines stuck
in the "waiting for IACK" state. This happens because the previous
kernel crashed before sending the acknowledgment for a pending level
interrupt.
In this stuck state, RP1 will not generate new MSI-X writes even though
the interrupt source remains asserted. Since no new MSI-X is sent, the
GIC never sees a new edge, the chained IRQ handler is never invoked,
and the interrupt is permanently lost.
Fix this by sending MSIX_CFG_IACK in rp1_irq_activate(). This
unconditionally resets the MSI-X state machine back to idle when a
child device requests its interrupt. If the interrupt source is still
asserted, RP1 will immediately issue a new MSI-X with the freshly
configured msg_addr/msg_data, and normal interrupt delivery resumes.
Writing IACK when the state machine is already idle (i.e., on a normal
cold boot) is harmless — it has no effect.

Add a new LKDTM trigger (PPC_RADIX_TLBIEL) that executes a process-scoped
radix TLBIEL instruction to exercise the radix MMU behaviour and
associated machine check exception (MCE) handling paths.
This provides a way to validate MCE handling in radix mode. Currently,
there is no dedicated LKDTM test that exercises this path or allows
triggering radix-specific machine check behaviour for validation.
The test is only enabled on ppc64 systems with radix MMU
support and If radix is not active, the trigger is skipped and reported as
XFAIL.

The slbmte instruction modifies the Segment Lookaside Buffer, but without
a context synchronizing operation the CPU is not guaranteed to observe
the updated SLB state for subsequent instructions. This can result in
use of stale translation state when memory is accessed immediately after
SLB modifications.
Add isync after each slbmte in the PPC_SLB_MULTIHIT test to ensure proper
ordering of SLB updates before subsequent memory accesses.
This aligns with Power ISA context synchronization requirements for changes
in address translation state and improves the reliability of SLB multihit
injection tests in hash MMU mode.

While being less compact, using named initializers allows to more easily
see which members of the structs are assigned which value without having
to lookup the declaration of the struct. And it's also more robust
against changes to the struct definition.
The mentioned robustness is relevant for a planned change to struct
i2c_device_id that replaces .driver_data by an anonymous union.
This patch doesn't modify the compiled array, only its representation
in source form benefits. The former was confirmed with x86 and arm64

Merge tag 'pci-v7.1-changes' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/pci/pci
Pull pci updates from Bjorn Helgaas:
"Enumeration:
- Allow TLP Processing Hints to be enabled for RCiEPs (George Abraham
P)
- Enable AtomicOps only if we know the Root Port supports them (Gerd
Bayer)
- Don't enable AtomicOps for RCiEPs since none of them need Atomic
Ops and we can't tell whether the Root Complex would support them
(Gerd Bayer)
- Leave Precision Time Measurement disabled until a driver enables it
to avoid PCIe errors (Mika Westerberg)
- Make pci_set_vga_state() fail if bridge doesn't support VGA
routing, i.e., PCI_BRIDGE_CTL_VGA is not writable, and return
errors to vga_get() callers including userspace via
/dev/vga_arbiter (Simon Richter)
- Validate max-link-speed from DT in j721e, brcmstb, mediatek-gen3,
rzg3s drivers (where the actual controller constraints are known),
and remove validation from the generic OF DT accessor (Hans Zhang)
- Remove pc110pad driver (no longer useful after 486 CPU support
removed) and no_pci_devices() (pc110pad was the last user) (Dmitry
Torokhov, Heiner Kallweit)
Resource management:
- Prevent assigning space to unimplemented bridge windows; previously
we mistakenly assumed prefetchable window existed and assigned
space and put a BAR there (Ahmed Naseef)
- Avoid shrinking bridge windows to fit in the initial Root Port
window; fixes one problem with devices with large BARs connected
via switches, e.g., Thunderbolt (Ilpo Järvinen)
- Pass full extent of empty space, not just the aligned space, to
resource_alignf callback so free space before the requested
alignment can be used (Ilpo Järvinen)
- Place small resources before larger ones for better utilization of
address space (Ilpo Järvinen)
- Fix alignment calculation for resource size larger than align,
e.g., bridge windows larger than the 1MB required alignment (Ilpo
Järvinen)
Reset:
- Update slot handling so all ARI functions are treated as being in
the same slot. They're all reset by Secondary Bus Reset, but
previously drivers of ARI functions that appeared to be on a
non-zero device weren't notified and fatal hardware errors could
result (Keith Busch)
- Make sysfs reset_subordinate hotplug safe to avoid spurious hotplug
events (Keith Busch)
- Hide Secondary Bus Reset ('bus') from sysfs reset_methods if masked
by CXL because it has no effect (Vidya Sagar)
- Avoid FLR for AMD NPU device, where it causes the device to hang
(Lizhi Hou)
Error handling:
- Clear only error bits in PCIe Device Status to avoid accidentally
clearing Emergency Power Reduction Detected (Shuai Xue)
- Check for AER errors even in devices without drivers (Lukas Wunner)
- Initialize ratelimit info so DPC and EDR paths log AER error
information (Kuppuswamy Sathyanarayanan)
Power control:
- Add UPD720201/UPD720202 USB 3.0 xHCI Host Controller .compatible so
generic pwrctrl driver can control it (Neil Armstrong)
Hotplug:
- Set LED_HW_PLUGGABLE for NPEM hotplug-capable ports so LED core
doesn't complain when setting brightness fails because the endpoint
is gone (Richard Cheng)
Peer-to-peer DMA:
- Allow wildcards in list of host bridges that support peer-to-peer
DMA between hierarchy domains and add all Google SoCs (Jacob
Moroni)
Endpoint framework:
- Advertise dynamic inbound mapping support in pci-epf-test and
update host pci_endpoint_test to skip doorbell testing if not
advertised by endpoint (Koichiro Den)
- Return 0, not remaining timeout, when MHI eDMA ops complete so
mhi_ep_ring_add_element() doesn't interpret non-zero as failure
(Daniel Hodges)
- Remove vntb and ntb duplicate resource teardown that leads to oops
when .allow_link() fails or .drop_link() is called (Koichiro Den)
- Disable vntb delayed work before clearing BAR mappings and
doorbells to avoid oops caused by doing the work after resources
have been torn down (Koichiro Den)
- Add a way to describe reserved subregions within BARs, e.g.,
platform-owned fixed register windows, and use it for the RK3588
BAR4 DMA ctrl window (Koichiro Den)
- Add BAR_DISABLED for BARs that will never be available to an EPF
driver, and change some BAR_RESERVED annotations to BAR_DISABLED
(Niklas Cassel)
- Add NTB .get_dma_dev() callback for cases where DMA API requires a
different device, e.g., vNTB devices (Koichiro Den)
- Add reserved region types for MSI-X Table and PBA so Endpoint
controllers can them as describe hardware-owned regions in a
BAR_RESERVED BAR (Manikanta Maddireddy)
- Make Tegra194/234 BAR0 programmable and remove 1MB size limit
(Manikanta Maddireddy)
- Expose Tegra BAR2 (MSI-X) and BAR4 (DMA) as 64-bit BAR_RESERVED
(Manikanta Maddireddy)
- Add Tegra194 and Tegra234 device table entries to pci_endpoint_test
(Manikanta Maddireddy)
- Skip the BAR subrange selftest if there are not enough inbound
window resources to run the test (Christian Bruel)
New native PCIe controller drivers:
- Add DT binding and driver for Andes QiLai SoC PCIe host controller
(Randolph Lin)
- Add DT binding and driver for ESWIN PCIe Root Complex (Senchuan
Zhang)
Baikal T-1 PCIe controller driver:
- Remove driver since it never quite became usable (Andy Shevchenko)
Cadence PCIe controller driver:
- Implement byte/word config reads with dword (32-bit) reads because
some Cadence controllers don't support sub-dword accesses (Aksh
Garg)
CIX Sky1 PCIe controller driver:
- Add 'power-domains' to DT binding for SCMI power domain (Gary Yang)
Freescale i.MX6 PCIe controller driver:
- Add i.MX94 and i.MX943 to fsl,imx6q-pcie-ep DT binding (Richard
Zhu)

suspending i.MX6SX because LTSSM registers are inaccessible
(Richard Zhu)
- Separate PERST# assertion (for resetting endpoints) from core reset
(for resetting the RC itself) to prepare for new DTs with PERST#
GPIO in per-Root Port nodes (Sherry Sun)
- Retain Root Port MSI capability on i.MX7D, i.MX8MM, and i.MX8MQ so
MSI from downstream devices will work (Richard Zhu)
- Fix i.MX95 reference clock source selection when internal refclk is
used (Franz Schnyder)
Freescale Layerscape PCIe controller driver:
- Allow building as a removable module (Sascha Hauer)
MediaTek PCIe Gen3 controller driver:

messages visible in /sys/kernel/debug/devices_deferred (Chen-Yu
Tsai)
- Power off device if setup fails (Chen-Yu Tsai)
- Integrate new pwrctrl API to enable power control for WiFi/BT
adapters on mainboard or in PCIe or M.2 slots (Chen-Yu Tsai)
NVIDIA Tegra194 PCIe controller driver:
- Poll less aggressively and non-atomically for PME_TO_Ack during
transition to L2 (Vidya Sagar)
- Disable LTSSM after transition to Detect on surprise link down to
stop toggling between Polling and Detect (Manikanta Maddireddy)
- Don't force the device into the D0 state before L2 when suspending
or shutting down the controller (Vidya Sagar)
- Disable PERST# IRQ only in Endpoint mode because it's not
registered in Root Port mode (Manikanta Maddireddy)
- Handle 'nvidia,refclk-select' as optional (Vidya Sagar)
- Disable direct speed change in Endpoint mode so link speed change
is controlled by the host (Vidya Sagar)

from any previous bad link state (Vidya Sagar)
- Remove IRQF_ONESHOT flag from Endpoint interrupt registration so
DMA driver and Endpoint controller driver can share the interrupt
line (Vidya Sagar)
- Enable DMA interrupt to support DMA in both Root Port and Endpoint
modes (Vidya Sagar)
- Enable hardware link retraining after link goes down in Endpoint
mode (Vidya Sagar)
- Add DT binding and driver support for core clock monitoring (Vidya

The second Late Binding version allows to send payload bigger
than client MTU by splitting it to chunks and uses separate
firmware client for transfer.
The component interface is unchanged and driver doing all splitting.
Only one Late Binding version is supported by firmware.
When Late binding version 2 is supported, the new client is advertised
by firmware and existing MKHI will have version 2.
This helps driver to select the right mode of work.

zap_vma_ptes() is the only zapping function we export to modules.
It's essentially a wrapper around zap_vma_range(), however, with some
safety checks:
* That the passed range fits fully into the VMA
* That it's only used for VM_PFNMAP
We will add support for VM_MIXEDMAP next, so use the more-generic term
"special vma", although "special" is a bit overloaded. Maybe we'll later
just support any VM_SPECIAL flag.
While at it, improve the kerneldoc.

The ibmasm_send_i2o_message() function uses get_dot_command_size() to
compute the byte count for memcpy_toio(), but this value is derived from
user-controlled fields in the dot_command_header (command_size: u8,
data_size: u16) and is never validated against the actual allocation size.
A root user can write a small buffer with inflated header fields, causing
memcpy_toio() to read up to ~65 KB past the end of the allocation into
adjacent kernel heap, which is then forwarded to the service processor
over MMIO.
Silently clamping the copy size is not sufficient: if the header fields
claim a larger size than the buffer, the SP receives a dot command whose
own header is inconsistent with the I2O message length, which can cause
the SP to desynchronize. Reject such commands outright by returning
failure.
Validate command_size before calling get_mfa_inbound() to avoid leaking
an I2O message frame: reading INBOUND_QUEUE_PORT dequeues a hardware
frame from the controller's free pool, and returning without a
corresponding set_mfa_inbound() call would permanently exhaust it.
Additionally, clamp command_size to I2O_COMMAND_SIZE before the
memcpy_toio() so the MMIO write stays within the I2O message frame,
consistent with the clamping already performed by outgoing_message_size()
for the header field.

The command_file_write() handler allocates a kernel buffer of exactly
count bytes and copies user data into it, but does not validate the
buffer against the dot command protocol before passing it to
get_dot_command_size() and get_dot_command_timeout().
Since both the allocation size (count) and the header fields (command_size,
data_size) are independently user-controlled, an attacker can cause
get_dot_command_size() to return a value exceeding the allocation,
triggering OOB reads in get_dot_command_timeout() and an out-of-bounds
memcpy_toio() that leaks kernel heap memory to the service processor.
Fix with two guards: reject writes smaller than sizeof(struct
dot_command_header) before allocation, then after copying user data
reject commands where the buffer is smaller than the total size declared
by the header (sizeof(header) + command_size + data_size). This ensures
all subsequent header and payload field accesses stay within the buffer.

ibmasm_handle_mouse_interrupt() performs an out-of-bounds MMIO read
when the queue reader or writer index from hardware exceeds
REMOTE_QUEUE_SIZE (60).
A compromised service processor can trigger this by writing an
out-of-range value to the reader or writer MMIO register before
asserting an interrupt. Since writer is re-read from hardware on
every loop iteration, it can also be set to an out-of-range value
after the loop has already started.
The root cause is that get_queue_reader() and get_queue_writer() return
raw readl() values that are passed directly into get_queue_entry(),
which computes:
queue_begin + reader * sizeof(struct remote_input)
with no bounds check. This unchecked MMIO address is then passed to
memcpy_fromio(), reading 8 bytes from unintended device registers.
For sufficiently large values the address falls outside the PCI BAR
mapping entirely, triggering a machine check exception.
Fix by checking both indices against REMOTE_QUEUE_SIZE at the top of
the loop body, before any call to get_queue_entry(). On an out-of-range
value, reset the reader register to 0 via set_queue_reader() before
breaking, so that normal queue operation can resume if the corrupted
hardware state is transient.

fastrpc_init_create_static_process() may free cctx->remote_heap on the
err_map path but does not clear the pointer. Later, fastrpc_rpmsg_remove()
frees cctx->remote_heap again if it is non-NULL, which can lead to a
double-free if the INIT_CREATE_STATIC ioctl hits the error path and the rpmsg
device is subsequently removed/unbound.
Clear cctx->remote_heap after freeing it in the error path to prevent the
later cleanup from freeing it again.

After commit 2cedb29698 ("mei: me: trigger link reset if hw ready is unexpected")
some devices started to show long resume times (5-7 seconds).
This happens as mei falsely detects unready hardware,
starts parallel link reset flow and triggers link reset timeouts
in the resume callback.
Address it by performing detection of unready hardware only
when driver is in the MEI_DEV_ENABLED state instead of blacklisting
states as done in the original patch.
This eliminates active waitqueue check as in MEI_DEV_ENABLED state
there will be no active waitqueue.

All combined i2c/i3c drivers appear to suffer from the same link
time problem when CONFIG_I3C is set to 'm':
arm-linux-gnueabi-ld: drivers/iio/magnetometer/mmc5633.o: in function `mmc5633_i3c_driver_init':
mmc5633.c:(.init.text+0x30): undefined reference to `i3c_driver_register_with_owner'
This was previously fixed every time by marking individual
drivers as 'depends on I2C; depends on I3C || !I3C', but this gets
tedious and is somewhat confusing.
Add a Kconfig symbol 'I3C_OR_I2C' to help replace those dependencies,
and use this in all the existing drivers that had already fixed it
as well as the new mmc5633 driver.

If the endpoint does not advertise CAP_DYNAMIC_INBOUND_MAPPING, return
-EOPNOTSUPP from PCITEST_DOORBELL.

This converts some of the visually simpler cases that have been split
over multiple lines. I only did the ones that are easy to verify the
resulting diff by having just that final GFP_KERNEL argument on the next
line.
Somebody should probably do a proper coccinelle script for this, but for
me the trivial script actually resulted in an assertion failure in the
middle of the script. I probably had made it a bit _too_ trivial.
So after fighting that far a while I decided to just do some of the
syntactically simpler cases with variations of the previous 'sed'
scripts.
The more syntactically complex multi-line cases would mostly really want
whitespace cleanup anyway.

This is the exact same thing as the 'alloc_obj()' version, only much
smaller because there are a lot fewer users of the *alloc_flex()
interface.
As with alloc_obj() version, this was done entirely with mindless brute
force, using the same script, except using 'flex' in the pattern rather
than 'objs*'.
Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org>
This was done entirely with mindless brute force, using
git grep -l '\<k[vmz]*alloc_objs*(.*, GFP_KERNEL)' |
xargs sed -i 's/\(alloc_objs*(.*\), GFP_KERNEL)/\1)/'
to convert the new alloc_obj() users that had a simple GFP_KERNEL
argument to just drop that argument.
Note that due to the extreme simplicity of the scripting, any slightly
more complex cases spread over multiple lines would not be triggered:
they definitely exist, but this covers the vast bulk of the cases, and
the resulting diff is also then easier to check automatically.
For the same reason the 'flex' versions will be done as a separate
conversion.

This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from
scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. The script is designed to
avoid scalar types (which need careful case-by-case checking), and
instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union
object instances:
Single allocations: kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with: kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...)
Array allocations: kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with: kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...)
Flex array allocations: kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...)
are replaced with: kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...)
(where TYPE may also be *VAR)
The resulting allocations no longer return "void *", instead returning
"TYPE *".

Merge tag 'pci-v7.0-changes' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/pci/pci
Pull PCI updates from Bjorn Helgaas:
"Enumeration:
- Don't try to enable Extended Tags on VFs since that bit is Reserved
and causes misleading log messages (Håkon Bugge)
- Initialize Endpoint Read Completion Boundary to match Root Port,
regardless of ACPI _HPX (Håkon Bugge)
- Apply _HPX PCIe Setting Record only to AER configuration, and only
when OS owns PCIe hotplug but not AER, to avoid clobbering Extended
Tag and Relaxed Ordering settings (Håkon Bugge)
Resource management:
- Move CardBus code to setup-cardbus.c and only build it when
CONFIG_CARDBUS is set (Ilpo Järvinen)
- Fix bridge window alignment with optional resources, where
additional alignment requirement was previously lost (Ilpo
Järvinen)
- Stop over-estimating bridge window size since they are now assigned
without any gaps between them (Ilpo Järvinen)
- Increase resource MAX_IORES_LEVEL to avoid /proc/iomem flattening
for nested bridges and endpoints (Ilpo Järvinen)
- Add pbus_mem_size_optional() to handle sizes of optional resources
(SR-IOV VF BARs, expansion ROMs, bridge windows) (Ilpo Järvinen)
- Don't claim disabled bridge windows to avoid spurious claim
failures (Ilpo Järvinen)
Driver binding:
- Fix device reference leak in pcie_port_remove_service() (Uwe
Kleine-König)
- Move pcie_port_bus_match() and pcie_port_bus_type to PCIe-specific
portdrv.c (Uwe Kleine-König)
- Convert portdrv to use pcie_port_bus_type.probe() and .remove()
callbacks so .probe() and .remove() can eventually be removed from
struct device_driver (Uwe Kleine-König)
Error handling:
- Clear stale errors on reporting agents upon probe so they don't
look like recent errors (Lukas Wunner)
- Add generic RAS tracepoint for hotplug events (Shuai Xue)
- Add RAS tracepoint for link speed changes (Shuai Xue)
Power management:
- Avoid redundant delay on transition from D3hot to D3cold if the
device was already in D3hot (Brian Norris)
- Prevent runtime suspend until devices are fully initialized to
avoid saving incompletely configured device state (Brian Norris)
Power control:
- Add power_on/off callbacks with generic signature to pwrseq,
tc9563, and slot drivers so they can be used by pwrctrl core
(Manivannan Sadhasivam)
- Add PCIe M.2 connector support to the slot pwrctrl driver
(Manivannan Sadhasivam)
- Switch to pwrctrl interfaces to create, destroy, and power on/off
devices, calling them from host controller drivers instead of the
PCI core (Manivannan Sadhasivam)
- Drop qcom .assert_perst() callbacks since this is now done by the
controller driver instead of the pwrctrl driver (Manivannan
Sadhasivam)
Virtualization:
- Remove an incorrect unlock in pci_slot_trylock() error handling
(Jinhui Guo)
- Lock the bridge device for slot reset (Keith Busch)
- Enable ACS after IOMMU configuration on OF platforms so ACS is
enabled an all devices; previously the first device enumerated
(typically a Root Port) didn't have ACS enabled (Manivannan
Sadhasivam)
- Disable ACS Source Validation for IDT 0x80b5 and 0x8090 switches to
work around hardware erratum; previously ACS SV was only
temporarily disabled, which worked for enumeration but not after
reset (Manivannan Sadhasivam)
Peer-to-peer DMA:
- Release per-CPU pgmap ref when vm_insert_page() fails to avoid hang
when removing the PCI device (Hou Tao)
- Remove incorrect p2pmem_alloc_mmap() warning about page refcount
(Hou Tao)
Endpoint framework:
- Add configfs sub-groups synchronously to avoid NULL pointer
dereference when racing with removal (Liu Song)
- Fix swapped parameters in pci_{primary/secondary}_epc_epf_unlink()
functions (Manikanta Maddireddy)
ASPEED PCIe controller driver:
- Add ASPEED Root Complex DT binding and driver (Jacky Chou)
Freescale i.MX6 PCIe controller driver:
- Add DT binding and driver support for an optional external refclock
in addition to the refclock from the internal PLL (Richard Zhu)
- Fix CLKREQ# control so host asserts it during enumeration and
Endpoints can use it afterwards to exit the L1.2 link state
(Richard Zhu)
NVIDIA Tegra PCIe controller driver:
- Export irq_domain_free_irqs() to allow PCI/MSI drivers that tear
down MSI domains to be built as modules (Aaron Kling)
- Allow pci-tegra to be built as a module (Aaron Kling)
NVIDIA Tegra194 PCIe controller driver:
- Relax Kconfig so tegra194 can be built for platforms beyond
Tegra194 (Vidya Sagar)
Qualcomm PCIe controller driver:
- Merge SC8180x DT binding into SM8150 (Krzysztof Kozlowski)
- Move SDX55, SDM845, QCS404, IPQ5018, IPQ6018, IPQ8074 Gen3,
IPQ8074, IPQ4019, IPQ9574, APQ8064, MSM8996, APQ8084 to dedicated
schema (Krzysztof Kozlowski)
- Add DT binding and driver support for SA8255p Endpoint being
configured by firmware (Mrinmay Sarkar)
- Parse PERST# from all PCIe bridge nodes for future platforms that
will have PERST# in Switch Downstream Ports as well as in Root
Ports (Manivannan Sadhasivam)
Renesas RZ/G3S PCIe controller driver:
- Use pci_generic_config_write() since the writability provided by
the custom wrapper is unnecessary (Claudiu Beznea)
SOPHGO PCIe controller driver:
- Disable ASPM L0s and L1 on Sophgo 2044 PCIe Root Ports (Inochi
Amaoto)
Synopsys DesignWare PCIe controller driver:
- Extend PCI_FIND_NEXT_CAP() and PCI_FIND_NEXT_EXT_CAP() to return a
pointer to the preceding Capability, to allow removal of
Capabilities that are advertised but not fully implemented (Qiang
Yu)
- Remove MSI and MSI-X Capabilities in platforms that can't support
them, so the PCI core automatically falls back to INTx (Qiang Yu)
- Add ASPM L1.1 and L1.2 Substates context to debugfs ltssm_status
for drivers that support this (Shawn Lin)
- Skip PME_Turn_Off broadcast and L2/L3 transition during suspend if
link is not up to avoid an unnecessary timeout (Manivannan
Sadhasivam)
- Revert dw-rockchip, qcom, and DWC core changes that used link-up
IRQs to trigger enumeration instead of waiting for link to be up
because the PCI core doesn't allocate bus number space for
hierarchies that might be attached (Niklas Cassel)
- Make endpoint iATU entry for MSI permanent instead of programming
it dynamically, which is slow and racy with respect to other
concurrent traffic, e.g., eDMA (Koichiro Den)
- Use iMSI-RX MSI target address when possible to fix endpoints using
32-bit MSI (Shawn Lin)
- Allow DWC host controller driver probe to continue if device is not
found or found but inactive; only fail when there's an error with
the link (Manivannan Sadhasivam)
- For controllers like NXP i.MX6QP and i.MX7D, where LTSSM registers
are not accessible after PME_Turn_Off, simply wait 10ms instead of
polling for L2/L3 Ready (Richard Zhu)
- Use multiple iATU entries to map large bridge windows and DMA
ranges when necessary instead of failing (Samuel Holland)
- Add EPC dynamic_inbound_mapping feature bit for Endpoint
Controllers that can update BAR inbound address translation without
requiring EPF driver to clear/reset the BAR first, and advertise it
for DWC-based Endpoints (Koichiro Den)
- Add EPC subrange_mapping feature bit for Endpoint Controllers that
can map multiple independent inbound regions in a single BAR,
implement subrange mapping, advertise it for DWC-based Endpoints,
and add Endpoint selftests for it (Koichiro Den)
- Make resizable BARs work for Endpoint multi-PF configurations;
previously it only worked for PF 0 (Aksh Garg)
- Fix Endpoint non-PF 0 support for BAR configuration, ATU mappings,
and Address Match Mode (Aksh Garg)
- Set up iATU when ECAM is enabled; previously IO and MEM outbound
windows weren't programmed, and ECAM-related iATU entries weren't
restored after suspend/resume, so config accesses failed (Krishna
Chaitanya Chundru)
Miscellaneous:
- Use system_percpu_wq and WQ_PERCPU to explicitly request per-CPU
work so WQ_UNBOUND can eventually be removed (Marco Crivellari)"

Let's not piggy-back on the existing lock and use a separate lock for the
huge page list. Now that we use a separate lock, there is no need to
disable interrupts, so use the non-irqsave variants. We only required the
irqsave variants because of the balloon device lock.
This is a preparation for changing the locking used to protect
balloon_dev_info.
While at it, talk about "page migration" instead of "page compaction".
We'll change that in core code soon as well.

Let's update the balloon page references, the balloon page list, the
BALLOON_MIGRATE counter and the isolated-pages counter in
balloon_page_migrate(), after letting the balloon->migratepage() callback
deal with the actual inflation+deflation.
Note that we now perform the balloon list modifications outside of any
implementation-specific locks: which is fine, there is nothing special
about these page actions that the lock would be protecting.
The old page is already no longer in the list (isolated) and the new page
is not yet in the list.
Let's use -ENOENT to communicate the special "inflation of new page failed
after already deflating the old page" to balloon_page_migrate() so it can
handle it accordingly.
While at it, rename balloon->b_dev_info to make it match the other
functions. Also, drop the comment above balloon_page_migrate(), which
seems unnecessary.

To avoid #ifdef in the caller we can instead use IS_ENABLED() and make the

Patch series "mm: balloon infrastructure cleanups", v3.
I started with wanting to remove the dependency of the balloon
infrastructure on the page lock, but ended up performing various other
cleanups, some of which I had on my todo list for years.
This series heavily cleans up and simplifies our balloon infrastructure,
including our balloon page migration functionality.
With this series, we no longer make use of the page lock for PageOffline
pages as part of the balloon infrastructure (preparing for memdescs where
PageOffline pages won't have any such lock), and simplifies migration
handling such that refcounting can more easily be adjusted later
(long-term focus is for PageOffline pages to not have a refcount either).
Plenty of related cleanups.
This patch (of 24):
When we're effectively deflating the balloon while migrating a page
because inflating the new page failed, we're not adjusting
BALLOON_DEFLATE.
Let's do that. This is a preparation for factoring out this handling to
the core code, making it work in a similar way first.
As this (deflating while migrating because of inflation error) is a corner
case that I don't really expect to happen in practice and the stats are
not that crucial, this likely doesn't classify as a fix.

Add a new PCITEST_BAR_SUBRANGE ioctl to exercise EPC BAR subrange
mapping end-to-end.
The test programs a simple 2-subrange layout on the endpoint (via
pci-epf-test) and verifies that:
- the endpoint-provided per-subrange signature bytes are observed at
the expected PCIe BAR offsets, and
- writes to each subrange are routed to the correct backing region
(i.e. the submap order is applied rather than accidentally working
due to an identity mapping).
Return -EOPNOTSUPP when the endpoint does not advertise subrange
mapping, -ENODATA when the BAR is disabled, and -EBUSY when the BAR is
reserved for the test register space.

The commit
afd2627f72 ("tracing: Check "%s" dereference via the field and not the TP_printk format")
forbids to emit event with a plain char* without a wrapper.
The reg parameter always passed as static string and wrapper
is not strictly required, contrary to dev parameter.
Use the string wrapper anyway to check sanity of the reg parameters,
store it value independently and prevent internal kernel data leaks.
Since some code refactoring has taken place, explicit backporting may
be needed for kernels older than 6.10.

Directly calling `put_queue` carries risks since it cannot
guarantee that resources of `uacce_queue` have been fully released
beforehand. So adding a `stop_queue` operation for the
UACCE_CMD_PUT_Q command and leaving the `put_queue` operation to
the final resource release ensures safety.
Queue states are defined as follows:
- UACCE_Q_ZOMBIE: Initial state
- UACCE_Q_INIT: After opening `uacce`
- UACCE_Q_STARTED: After `start` is issued via `ioctl`
When executing `poweroff -f` in virt while accelerator are still
working, `uacce_fops_release` and `uacce_remove` may execute
concurrently. This can cause `uacce_put_queue` within
`uacce_fops_release` to access a NULL `ops` pointer. Therefore, add
state checks to prevent accessing freed pointers.

The current uacce_vm_ops does not support the mremap operation of
vm_operations_struct. Implement .mremap to return -EPERM to remind
users.
The reason we need to explicitly disable mremap is that when the
driver does not implement .mremap, it uses the default mremap
method. This could lead to a risk scenario:
An application might first mmap address p1, then mremap to p2,
followed by munmap(p1), and finally munmap(p2). Since the default
mremap copies the original vma's vm_private_data (i.e., q) to the
new vma, both munmap operations would trigger vma_close, causing
q->qfr to be freed twice(qfr will be set to null here, so repeated
release is ok).

uacce supports the device isolation feature. If the driver
implements the isolate_err_threshold_read and
isolate_err_threshold_write callback functions, uacce will create
sysfs files now. Users can read and configure the isolation policy
through sysfs. Currently, sysfs files are created as long as either
isolate_err_threshold_read or isolate_err_threshold_write callback
functions are present.
However, accessing a non-existent callback function may cause the
system to crash. Therefore, intercept the creation of sysfs if
neither read nor write exists; create sysfs if either is supported,
but intercept unsupported operations at the call site.

When rtsx_pci suspends, the card reader hardware powers off but the sdmmc
driver's prev_power_state remains as MMC_POWER_ON. This causes sd_power_on
to skip reinitialization on the next I/O request, leading to DMA transfer
timeouts and errors on resume 20% of the time.
Add a power_off slot callback so the PCR can notify the sdmmc driver
during suspend. The sdmmc driver resets prev_power_state, and sd_request
checks this to reinitialize the card before the next I/O.

The kgdbts_option_setup() function is invoked only once early in boot
via the __setup("kgdbts=", ...) mechanism to parse the kernel
command-line option. After init is complete, it is never called again.
Annotating it with __init places the function in the .init.text section,
enabling the kernel to free its code memory during the init memory
cleanup phase (free_initmem()). This reduces the kernel’s runtime
memory footprint with no functional side effects.

DSP currently supports 32-bit IOVA (32-bit PA + 4-bit SID) for
both Q6 and user DMA (uDMA) access. This is being upgraded to
34-bit PA + 4-bit SID due to a hardware revision in CDSP for
Kaanapali SoC, which expands the DMA addressable range.
Update DMA bits configuration in the driver to support CDSP on
Kaanapali SoC. Set the default `dma_bits` to 32-bit and update
it to 34-bit based on CDSP and OF matching on the fastrpc node.

Implement the new IOVA formatting required by the DSP architecture change
on Kaanapali SoC. Place the SID for DSP DMA transactions at bit 56 in the
physical address. This placement is necessary for the DSPs to correctly
identify streams and operate as intended.
To address this, set SID position to bit 56 via OF matching on the fastrpc
node; otherwise, default to legacy 32-bit placement.
This change ensures consistent SID placement across DSPs.

The fields buf->phys and map->phys currently store DMA addresses
returned by dma_map_*() APIs, not physical addresses. This naming
is misleading and may lead to incorrect assumptions about the
address type and its translation.
Rename these fields from phys to dma_addr to improve code clarity
and align with kernel conventions for dma_addr_t usage.

In the function bcm_vk_read(), the pointer entry is checked, indicating
that it can be NULL. If entry is NULL and rc is set to -EMSGSIZE, the
following code may cause null-pointer dereferences:
struct vk_msg_blk tmp_msg = entry->to_h_msg[0];
set_msg_id(&tmp_msg, entry->usr_msg_id);
tmp_msg.size = entry->to_h_blks - 1;
To prevent these possible null-pointer dereferences, copy to_h_msg,
usr_msg_id, and to_h_blks from iter into temporary variables, and return
these temporary variables to the application instead of accessing them
through a potentially NULL entry.

commit 14374fbb3f ("misc: eeprom_93xx46: Add new 93c56 and 93c66

didn't take into account that the write enable/disable + erase all
commands are hardcoded for the 6-bit address of the 93xx46.
This commit fixes the command word generation by increasing the number
of shifts as the address field grows, keeping the command intact.
Also, the check for 8-bit or 16-bit mode is no longer required as this
is already taken into account in the edev->addrlen field.

The RP1 driver can load an overlay at runtime to describe the inner
peripherals. This has led to a lot of confusion regarding the naming
of nodes, their topology and the reclaiming of related node resources.
Since the overlay is currently not fully functional, drop its support
in the driver in favor of the fully described static DT.
This also means that this driver does not depend on CONFIG_PCI_DYNAMIC_OF_NODES
and no longer requires PCI quirks to dynamically create the intermediate
PCI nodes.

dentries of created objects in dcache (and undo it when removing those).
Reference is grabbed and not released, but it's not actually _stored_
anywhere. That works, but it's hard to follow and verify; among other
things, we have no way to tell _which_ of the increments is intended
to be an unpaired one. Worse, on removal we need to decide whether
the reference had already been dropped, which can be non-trivial if
that removal is on umount and we need to figure out if this dentry is
pinned due to e.g. unlink() not done. Usually that is handled by using
kill_litter_super() as ->kill_sb(), but there are open-coded special
cases of the same (consider e.g. /proc/self).
Things get simpler if we introduce a new dentry flag (DCACHE_PERSISTENT)
marking those "leaked" dentries. Having it set claims responsibility
for +1 in refcount.
The end result this series is aiming for:
* get these unbalanced dget() and dput() replaced with new primitives that
would, in addition to adjusting refcount, set and clear persistency flag.
* instead of having kill_litter_super() mess with removing the remaining
"leaked" references (e.g. for all tmpfs files that hadn't been removed
prior to umount), have the regular shrink_dcache_for_umount() strip
DCACHE_PERSISTENT of all dentries, dropping the corresponding
reference if it had been set. After that kill_litter_super() becomes
an equivalent of kill_anon_super().
Doing that in a single step is not feasible - it would affect too many places
in too many filesystems. It has to be split into a series.
This work has really started early in 2024; quite a few preliminary pieces
have already gone into mainline. This chunk is finally getting to the
meat of that stuff - infrastructure and most of the conversions to it.
Some pieces are still sitting in the local branches, but the bulk of

When CONFIG_SCSI_UFSHCD=y and CONFIG_RPMB=m, the kernel fails to link
with undefined references to ufs_rpmb_probe() and ufs_rpmb_remove():
ld: drivers/ufs/core/ufshcd.c:8950: undefined reference to `ufs_rpmb_probe'
ld: drivers/ufs/core/ufshcd.c:10505: undefined reference to `ufs_rpmb_remove'
The issue is that RPMB depends on its consumers (MMC, UFS) in Kconfig,
which is backwards. This prevents proper module dependency handling when
the library is modular but consumers are built-in.
Fix by reversing the dependency:
- Remove 'depends on MMC || SCSI_UFSHCD' from RPMB Kconfig
- Add 'depends on RPMB || !RPMB' to SCSI_UFSHCD Kconfig
This allows RPMB to be an independent library while ensuring correct
linking in all module/built-in combinations.

Merge tag 'vfs-6.19-rc1.fd_prepare.fs' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/vfs/vfs
Pull fd prepare updates from Christian Brauner:
"This adds the FD_ADD() and FD_PREPARE() primitive. They simplify the
common pattern of get_unused_fd_flags() + create file + fd_install()
that is used extensively throughout the kernel and currently requires
cumbersome cleanup paths.
FD_ADD() - For simple cases where a file is installed immediately:
fd = FD_ADD(O_CLOEXEC, vfio_device_open_file(device));
if (fd < 0)
vfio_device_put_registration(device);
return fd;
FD_PREPARE() - For cases requiring access to the fd or file, or
additional work before publishing:
FD_PREPARE(fdf, O_CLOEXEC, sync_file->file);
if (fdf.err) {
fput(sync_file->file);
return fdf.err;
}
data.fence = fd_prepare_fd(fdf);
if (copy_to_user((void __user *)arg, &data, sizeof(data)))
return -EFAULT;
return fd_publish(fdf);
The primitives are centered around struct fd_prepare. FD_PREPARE()
encapsulates all allocation and cleanup logic and must be followed by
a call to fd_publish() which associates the fd with the file and
installs it into the caller's fdtable. If fd_publish() isn't called,
both are deallocated automatically. FD_ADD() is a shorthand that does
fd_publish() immediately and never exposes the struct to the caller.
I've implemented this in a way that it's compatible with the cleanup
infrastructure while also being usable separately. IOW, it's centered
around struct fd_prepare which is aliased to class_fd_prepare_t and so
we can make use of all the basica guard infrastructure"

When DT is used to get the reference of 'rp1_node', it should be released
when not needed anymore, otherwise it is leaking.
In such a case, add the missing of_node_put() call at the end of the probe,
as already done in the error handling path.

pm_runtime_get_sync() may increment the runtime PM usage count even if the
resume fails, which requires an explicit pm_runtime_put_noidle() to balance
it. This driver ignored the return value, risking a usage-count leak on
resume failure.
Replace it with pm_runtime_resume_and_get(), which returns 0 on success and
a negative errno on failure, and only increments the usage count on success.
This simplifies the error path and avoids possible leaks. Also check for
errors explicitly with `if (ret < 0)`.

mei_register() fails to release the device reference in error paths
after device_initialize(). During normal device registration, the
reference is properly handled through mei_deregister() which calls
device_destroy(). However, in error handling paths (such as cdev_alloc
failure, cdev_add failure, etc.), missing put_device() calls cause
reference count leaks, preventing the device's release function
(mei_device_release) from being called and resulting in memory leaks
of mei_device.

static contents for each "service processor", whatever the fuck it is.
Congruent subdirectories of root, created at mount time, taken out
by kill_litter_super(). All dentries created with d_alloc_name() and are
left pinned. The odd part is that the list of service providers is
assumed to be unchanging - no locking, nothing to handle removals or
extra elements added later on.
... and it's a PCI device. If you ever tell it to remove an instance,
you are fucked - it doesn't bother with removing its directory from filesystem,
it has a strange check that presumably wanted to be a check for removed
devices, but it had never been fleshed out.
Anyway, d_add() -> d_make_persistent()+dput() in ibmasmfs_create_dir() and
ibmasmfs_create_file(), and make the latter return int - no need to even
borrow that dentry, callers completely ignore it.

Add OP-TEE based RPMB support for UFS devices. This enables secure RPMB
operations on UFS devices through OP-TEE, providing the same
functionality available for eMMC devices and extending kernel-based
secure storage support to UFS-based systems.
Benefits of OP-TEE based RPMB implementation:
- Eliminates dependency on userspace supplicant for RPMB access
- Enables early boot secure storage access (e.g., fTPM, secure UEFI
variables)
- Provides kernel-level RPMB access as soon as UFS driver is
initialized
- Removes complex initramfs dependencies and boot ordering requirements
- Ensures reliable and deterministic secure storage operations
- Supports both built-in and modular fTPM configurations

When building with -Wincompatible-function-pointer-types-strict, a
warning designed to catch kernel control flow integrity (kCFI) issues at
build time, there is an instance in the new mei late binding code
originating from the type parameter of mei_lb_push_payload():
drivers/misc/mei/mei_lb.c:211:18: error: incompatible function pointer types initializing 'int (*)(struct device *, u32, u32, const void *, size_t)' (aka 'int (*)(struct device *, unsigned int, unsigned int, const void *, unsigned long)') with an expression of type 'int (struct device *, enum intel_lb_type, u32, const void *, size_t)' (aka 'int (struct device *, enum intel_lb_type, unsigned int, const void *, unsigned long)') [-Werror,-Wincompatible-function-pointer-types-strict]
211 | .push_payload = mei_lb_push_payload,
| ^~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
While 'unsigned int' and 'enum intel_lb_type' are ABI compatible, hence
no regular warning from -Wincompatible-function-pointer-types, the
mismatch will trigger a kCFI violation when mei_lb_push_payload() is
called indirectly.
Update the type parameter of mei_lb_push_payload() to be 'u32' to match
the prototype in 'struct intel_lb_component_ops', clearing up the
warning and kCFI violation.

In fastrpc_map_lookup, dma_buf_get is called to obtain a reference to
the dma_buf for comparison purposes. However, this reference is never
released when the function returns, leading to a dma_buf memory leak.
Fix this by adding dma_buf_put before returning from the function,
ensuring that the temporarily acquired reference is properly released
regardless of whether a matching map is found.
