4cfdfeb6ac drm/mediatek: dsi: Store driver data before invoking mipi_dsi_host_register
The call to mipi_dsi_host_register triggers a callback to mtk_dsi_bind,
which uses dev_get_drvdata to retrieve the mtk_dsi struct, so this
structure needs to be stored inside the driver data before invoking it.

As drvdata is currently uninitialized it leads to a crash when
registering the DSI DRM encoder right after acquiring
the mode_config.idr_mutex, blocking all subsequent DRM operations.

Fixes the following crash during mediatek-drm probe (tested on Xiaomi
Smart Clock x04g):

8b00951402 drm/mediatek: mtk_dsi: Add support for High Speed (HS) mode
Up until now, the MediaTek DSI Controller has always been working
in Low Power Mode (LPM), as this driver has always ignored the
MIPI_DSI_MSG_USE_LPM flag hence never setting HS mode.

In the current state of the driver the only thing that is needed
to add support for DSI High Speed (HS) transmit is to simply set
the "HSTX" config bit in the configuration register.

Check if flag MIPI_DSI_MSG_USE_LPM is set and, if not, set HSTX.

f5b1819193 drm/mediatek: dsi: Fix DSI host and panel bridge pre-enable order
Since commit c9b1150a68 ("drm/atomic-helper: Re-order bridge chain
pre-enable and post-disable"), the bridge pre_enable callbacks are now
called before crtc enable, and the bridge post_disable callbacks after
the crtc disable.
In the mediatek-drm driver, this change leads to transfer errors on
mtk_dsi_host_transfer callback processing during the panel bridge
pre-enable sequence because the DSI host bridge pre_enable and CRTC
enable sequences, that are enabling the required clocks and PHY using
mtk_dsi_poweron function, are called after.

So, in order to fix this call order issue, request the DSI host bridge
be pre-enabled before panel bridge by setting pre_enable_prev_first
flag on DSI device bridge in the mtk_dsi_host_attach function.

9c399719cf drm: convert many bridge drivers from devm_kzalloc() to devm_drm_bridge_alloc() API
devm_drm_bridge_alloc() is the new API to be used for allocating (and
partially initializing) a private driver struct embedding a struct
drm_bridge.

For many drivers having a simple code flow in the probe function, this
commit does a mass conversion automatically with the following semantic
patch. The changes have been reviewed manually for correctness as well as
to find any false positives.

The patch has been applied with the explicit exclusion of bridge/panel.c,
handled by a separate patch.

After applying the semantic patch, manually fixed these issues:

 - 4 drivers need ERR_CAST() instead of PTR_ERR() as the function calling
   devm_drm_bridge_alloc() returns a pointer
 - re-added empty lines and comments that the script had removed but that
   should stay

drm/bridge: Add encoder parameter to drm_bridge_funcs.attach
The drm_bridge structure contains an encoder pointer that is widely used
by bridge drivers. This pattern is largely documented as deprecated in
other KMS entities for atomic drivers.

However, one of the main use of that pointer is done in attach to just
call drm_bridge_attach on the next bridge to add it to the bridge list.
While this dereferences the bridge->encoder pointer, it's effectively
the same encoder the bridge was being attached to.

We can make it more explicit by adding the encoder the bridge is
attached to to the list of attach parameters. This also removes the need
to dereference bridge->encoder in most drivers.

dcb166ee43 drm/mediatek: dsi: fix error codes in mtk_dsi_host_transfer()
There is a type bug because the return statement:

        return ret < 0 ? ret : recv_cnt;

The issue is that ret is an int, recv_cnt is a u32 and the function
returns ssize_t, which is a signed long. The way that the type promotion
works is that the negative error codes are first cast to u32 and then
to signed long. The error codes end up being positive instead of
negative and the callers treat them as success.

76aed5e00f drm/mediatek: mtk_dsi: Add registers to pdata to fix MT8186/MT8188
Registers DSI_VM_CMD and DSI_SHADOW_DEBUG start at different
addresses in both MT8186 and MT8188 compared to the older IPs.

Add two members in struct mtk_dsi_driver_data to specify the
offsets for these two registers on a per-SoC basis, then do
specify those in all of the currently present SoC driver data.

This fixes writes to the Video Mode Command Packet Control
register, fixing enablement of command packet transmission
(VM_CMD_EN) and allowance of this transmission during the
VFP period (TS_VFP_EN) on both MT8186 and MT8188.

e70140ba0d Get rid of 'remove_new' relic from platform driver struct
The continual trickle of small conversion patches is grating on me, and
is really not helping. Just get rid of the 'remove_new' member
function, which is just an alias for the plain 'remove', and had a
comment to that effect:

  /*
   * .remove_new() is a relic from a prototype conversion of .remove().
   * New drivers are supposed to implement .remove(). Once all drivers are
   * converted to not use .remove_new any more, it will be dropped.
   */

This was just a tree-wide 'sed' script that replaced '.remove_new' with
'.remove', with some care taken to turn a subsequent tab into two tabs
to make things line up.

I did do some minimal manual whitespace adjustment for places that used
spaces to line things up.

Then I just removed the old (sic) .remove_new member function, and this
is the end result. No more unnecessary conversion noise.

4c932840db drm/mediatek: Implement OF graphs support for display paths
It is impossible to add each and every possible DDP path combination
for each and every possible combination of SoC and board: right now,
this driver hardcodes configuration for 10 SoCs and this is going to
grow larger and larger, and with new hacks like the introduction of
mtk_drm_route which is anyway not enough for all final routes as the
DSI cannot be connected to MERGE if it's not a dual-DSI, or enabling
DSC preventively doesn't work if the display doesn't support it, or
others.

Since practically all display IPs in MediaTek SoCs support being
interconnected with different instances of other, or the same, IPs
or with different IPs and in different combinations, the final DDP
pipeline is effectively a board specific configuration.

Implement OF graphs support to the mediatek-drm drivers, allowing to
stop hardcoding the paths, and preventing this driver to get a huge
amount of arrays for each board and SoC combination, also paving the
way to share the same mtk_mmsys_driver_data between multiple SoCs,
making it more straightforward to add support for new chips.

Note that the OVL_ADAPTOR software component driver needs relatively
big changes in order to fully support OF Graphs (and more SoCs anyway)
and such changes will come at a later time.
As of now, the mtk_disp_ovl_adaptor driver takes the MERGE components
(for example, on mt8195, merge 1 to 4) dynamically so, even though
later updates to the ovl-adaptor driver will *not* require bindings
changes, the merge1-4 will be temporarily omitted in the graph for the
MT8195 SoC.

This means that an example graph for this SoC looks like:

mdp_rdma (0 ~ 7) -> padding (0 ~ 7) -> ethdr -> merge5

and the resulting path in this driver will be `ovl_adaptor -> merge5`

Later updates to the ovl adaptor will expand it to support more SoCs
and, in turn, to also fully support graphs.

9ff6df49e6 drm/mediatek: dpi/dsi: Fix possible_crtcs calculation
mtk_find_possible_crtcs() assumes that the main path will always have
the CRTC with id 0, the ext id 1 and the third id 2. This is only true
if the paths are all available. But paths are optional (see also
comment in mtk_drm_kms_init()), e.g. the main path might not be enabled
or available at all. Then the CRTC IDs will shift one up, e.g. ext will
be 0 and the third path will be 1.

To fix that, dynamically calculate the IDs by the presence of the paths.

While at it, make the return code a signed one and return -ENODEV if no
path is found and handle the error in the callers.

Instead of open coding, use the mipi_dsi_pixel_format_to_bpp() helper
function from drm_mipi_dsi.h in mtk_dsi_poweron() and for validation
in mtk_dsi_bridge_mode_valid().

Note that this function changes the behavior of this driver: previously,
in case of unknown formats, it would (wrongly) assume that it should
account for a 24-bits format - now it will return an error and refuse
to set clocks and/or enable the DSI.

This is done because setting the wrong data rate will only produce a
garbage output that the display will misinterpret both because this
driver doesn't actually provide any extra-spec format support and/or
because the data rate (hence, the HS clock) will be wrong.

fae6f81550 drm/mediatek: dsi: Fix DSI RGB666 formats and definitions
The register bits definitions for RGB666 formats are wrong in multiple
ways: first, in the DSI_PS_SEL bits region, the Packed 18-bits RGB666
format is selected with bit 1, while the Loosely Packed one is bit 2,
and second - the definition name "LOOSELY_PS_18BIT_RGB666" is wrong
because the loosely packed format is 24 bits instead!

Either way, functions mtk_dsi_ps_control_vact() and mtk_dsi_ps_control()
do not even agree on the DSI_PS_SEL bit to set in DSI_PSCTRL: one sets
loosely packed (24) on RGB666, the other sets packed (18), and the other
way around for RGB666_PACKED.

Fixing this entire stack of issues is done in one go:
 - Use the correct bit for the Loosely Packed RGB666 definition
 - Rename LOOSELY_PS_18BIT_RGB666 to LOOSELY_PS_24BIT_RGB666
 - Change ps_bpp_mode in mtk_dsi_ps_control_vact() to set:
    - Loosely Packed, 24-bits for MIPI_DSI_FMT_RGB666
    - Packed, 18-bits for MIPI_DSI_FMT_RGB666_PACKED

renamed to MIPI_DSI_MODE_NO_EOT_PACKET, reflecting its actual meaning,
both the DSI_TXRX_CON register setting for bit (HSTX_)DIS_EOT and the
later calculation for horizontal sync-active (HSA), back (HBP) and
front (HFP) porches got incorrect due to the logic being inverted.

This means that a number of settings were wrong because....:
 - DSI_TXRX_CON register setting: bit (HSTX_)DIS_EOT should be
   set in order to disable the End of Transmission packet;
 - Horizontal Sync and Back/Front porches: The delta used to
   calculate all of HSA, HBP and HFP should account for the
   additional EOT packet.

Before this change...
 - Bit (HSTX_)DIS_EOT was being set when EOT packet was enabled;
 - For HSA/HBP/HFP delta... all three were wrong, as words were
   added when EOT disabled, instead of when EOT packet enabled!

Invert the logic around flag MIPI_DSI_MODE_NO_EOT_PACKET in the
MediaTek DSI driver to fix the aforementioned issues.

b3af12a0b4 drm/mediatek: Convert to platform remove callback returning void
The .remove() callback for a platform driver returns an int which makes
many driver authors wrongly assume it's possible to do error handling by
returning an error code. However the value returned is (mostly) ignored
and this typically results in resource leaks. To improve here there is a
quest to make the remove callback return void. In the first step of this
quest all drivers are converted to .remove_new() which already returns
void.

Trivially convert the mediatek drm drivers from always returning zero in
the remove callback to the void returning variant.

91aeaed2c1 drm/mediatek: dsi: Reduce the time of dsi from LP11 to sending cmd
According to Figure 16 Turnaround Procedure on page 36 in [1], you
can see the status of LP-00 -> LP10 -> LP11. This state can correspond
to the state of DSI from LP00 -> LP11 in mtk_dsi_lane_ready function
in mtk_dsi.c.

LP-00 -> LP10 -> LP11 takes about 2*TLPX time (refer to [1] page 51
to see that TLPX is 50ns)

The delay at the end of the mtk_dsi_lane_ready function should be
greater than the 2*TLPX specified by the DSI spec, and less than
the time specified by the DSI_RX (generally 6ms to 40ms), to avoid
problems caused by the RX specification

90144dd8b0 drm/mediatek: dsi: Move mtk_dsi_stop() call back to mtk_dsi_poweroff()
As the comment right before the mtk_dsi_stop() call advises,
mtk_dsi_stop() should only be called after
mtk_drm_crtc_atomic_disable(). That's because that function calls
drm_crtc_wait_one_vblank(), which requires the vblank irq to be enabled.

Previously mtk_dsi_stop(), being in mtk_dsi_poweroff() and guarded by a
refcount, would only be called at the end of
mtk_drm_crtc_atomic_disable(), through the call to mtk_crtc_ddp_hw_fini().
Commit cde7e2e35c ("drm/mediatek: Separate poweron/poweroff from
enable/disable and define new funcs") moved the mtk_dsi_stop() call to
mtk_output_dsi_disable(), causing it to be called before
mtk_drm_crtc_atomic_disable(), and consequently generating vblank
timeout warnings during suspend.

Move the mtk_dsi_stop() call back to mtk_dsi_poweroff() so that we have
a working vblank irq during mtk_drm_crtc_atomic_disable() and stop
getting vblank timeout warnings.
