kho: make boot time huge page allocation work nicely with KHO
Today allocation of gigantic pages in HugeTLB cannot work reliably with KHO:
* HugeTLB allocates gigantic pages using memblock and autoscaling of KHO
scratch accounts for these allocations. When gigantic pages occupy half
of the memory of more, KHO fails to allocate its scratch memory.
* After kexec handover, memblock allocations exclusively use KHO scratch
that is not supposed to contain preserved memory. This essentially blocks
preservation of HugeTLB with gigantic pages.
Extend early memory pools available for KHO kernel with areas that are
guaranteed not to contain preserved memory.

x86/boot/compressed: Disable jump tables
After a recent upstream LLVM change to start generating jump and lookup
tables in switch statements in more instances [1], linking the
compressed x86 boot image when CONFIG_KERNEL_ZSTD is enabled fails with:
ld.lld: error: Unexpected run-time relocations (.rela) detected!
Dumping the relocations in misc.o, which is the only file influenced by
CONFIG_KERNEL_ZSTD in the decompressor, shows dynamic relocations to
some string constants, which correspond to the string literals in the
switch statement in handle_zstd_error():
Relocation section '.rela.data.rel.ro' at offset 0x277b0 contains 31 entries:
Offset Info Type Symbol's Value Symbol's Name + Addend
0000000000000000 0000006600000001 R_X86_64_64 0000000000000000 .rodata.str1.1 + 73a
0000000000000008 0000006600000001 R_X86_64_64 0000000000000000 .rodata.str1.1 + 78e
0000000000000010 0000006600000001 R_X86_64_64 0000000000000000 .rodata.str1.1 + 78e

...
This optimization is problematic for the decompressor environment, as it
is built as -fPIE without any explicit absolute references (as described
at the top of misc.c) while not applying any dynamic relocations, hence
the linker assertion. To opt out of this optimization, which is of
little value in this special early boot code, and to mirror the other
x86 startup code in arch/x86/boot/startup, disable jump tables in the
decompressor.

x86/boot: Validate console=uart8250 baud rate to fix early boot hang
When the baud rate is empty, 0, invalid, or overflows to 0 when stored
as an int, the system will hang during early boot because of a division
by zero in early_serial_init().
Fall back to DEFAULT_BAUD when the resulting baud rate is 0 to prevent
an early system hang.

x86/boot: Reject too long acpi_rsdp= values
cmdline_find_option() returns the full length of the parsed acpi_rsdp=
value. get_cmdline_acpi_rsdp() then silently truncates values which do
not fit in the val[] buffer.
Prevent boot_kstrtoul() from parsing a truncated value and then the
kernel from silently using the wrong RSDP address, see discussion in
Link:.
Issue a warning so that the user is aware that s/he supplied a malformed
value and can get feedback instead of silent crashes.

x86/setup: do not include kexec_handover.h from asm/setup.h
x86 asm/setup.h includes linux/kexec_handover.h. This is because it is used by setup.c and kaslr.c. But this inclusion is problematic. The header is included in many places, so it results in the KHO header being propagated there. Also, the setup header is used by realmode code. If KHO header includes things like mm.h, it causes a big dump of compilation failures. Nothing in setup.h uses anything from KHO. Remove the header from setup.h, and directly include it in setup.c. which does use things from KHO. Since kaslr.c is a part of the decompressor, avoid including linux headers there directly. Instead, split out struct kho_scratch, which is the only thing the kaslr.c uses, and move it to include/asm-generic/kexec_handover.h. This should also help reduce files recompiled when kexec_handover.h changes. treewide: Explicitly include the x86 CPUID headers
Modify all CPUID call sites which implicitly include any of the CPUID headers to explicitly include them instead. For KVM's reverse_cpuid.h, just include <asm/cpuid/types.h> since it references the CPUID_EAX..EDX symbols without using the CPUID APIs. Note, this allows removing the inclusion of <asm/cpuid/api.h> from within <asm/processor.h> next. kbuild: Consolidate C dialect options
Introduce CC_FLAGS_DIALECT to make it easier to update the various places in the tree that rely on the GNU C standard and Microsoft extensions flags atomically. All remaining uses of '-std=gnu11' and '-fms-extensions' are in the tools directory (which has its own build system) and other standalone Makefiles. This will allow the kernel to use a narrower option to enable the Microsoft anonymous tagged structure extension in a simpler manner. Place the CC_FLAGS_DIALECT block after the configuration include (so that a future change can move the selection of the flag to Kconfig) but before the arch/$(SRCARCH)/Makefile include (so that CC_FLAGS_DIALECT is available for use in those Makefiles). Miscellaneous x86 fixes:
- Fix SEV guest boot failures in certain circumstances, due
to very early code relying on a BSS-zeroed variable that
isn't actually zeroed yet an may contain non-zero bootup
values. Move the variable into the .data section go gain
even earlier zeroing.
- Expose & allow the IBPB-on-Entry feature on SNP guests,
which was not properly exposed to guests due to initial
implementational caution.
- Fix O= build failure when CONFIG_EFI_SBAT_FILE is using
relative file paths.
- 4 commits to fix the various SNC (Sub-NUMA Clustering)
topology enumeration bugs/artifacts (sched-domain build
errors mostly). SNC enumeration data got more complicated
with Granite Rapids X (GNR) and Clearwater Forest X (CWF),
which exposed these bugs and made their effects more
serious.
- Also use the now sane(r) SNC code to fix resctrl SNC
detection bugs.
- Work around a historic libgcc unwinder bug in the vdso32
sigreturn code (again), which regressed during an overly
aggressive recent cleanup of DWARF annotations.

x86/boot/sev: Move SEV decompressor variables into the .data section
As part of the work to remove the dependency on calling into the decompressor
code (startup_64()) for a UEFI boot, a call to rmpadjust() was removed from
sev_enable() in favor of checking the value of the snp_vmpl variable.
When booting through a non-UEFI path and calling startup_64(), the call to
sev_enable() is performed before the BSS section is zeroed. With the removal
of the rmpadjust() call and the corresponding check of the return code, the
snp_vmpl variable is checked.
Since the kernel is running at VMPL0, the snp_vmpl variable will not have been
set and should be the default value of 0. However, since the call occurs
before the BSS is zeroed, the snp_vmpl variable may not actually be zero,
which will cause the guest boot to fail.
Since the decompressor relocates itself, the BSS would need to be cleared both
before and after the relocation, but this would, in effect, cause all of the
changes to BSS variables before relocation to be lost after relocation.
Instead, move the snp_vmpl variable into the .data section so that it is
initialized and the value made safe during relocation. As a pre-caution
against future changes, move other SEV-related decompressor variables into the
.data section, too.

mm: introduce CONFIG_ARCH_HAS_LAZY_MMU_MODE
Architectures currently opt in for implementing lazy_mmu helpers by defining __HAVE_ARCH_ENTER_LAZY_MMU_MODE. In preparation for introducing a generic lazy_mmu layer that will require storage in task_struct, let's switch to a cleaner approach: instead of defining a macro, select a CONFIG option. This patch introduces CONFIG_ARCH_HAS_LAZY_MMU_MODE and has each arch select it when it implements lazy_mmu helpers. __HAVE_ARCH_ENTER_LAZY_MMU_MODE is removed and <linux/pgtable.h> relies on the new CONFIG instead. On x86, lazy_mmu helpers are only implemented if PARAVIRT_XXL is selected. This creates some complications in arch/x86/boot/, because a few files manually undefine PARAVIRT* options. As a result <asm/paravirt.h> does not define the lazy_mmu helpers, but this breaks the build as <linux/pgtable.h> only defines them if !CONFIG_ARCH_HAS_LAZY_MMU_MODE. There does not seem to be a clean way out of this - let's just undefine that new CONFIG too. objtool updates for v6.19:
- klp-build livepatch module generation (Josh Poimboeuf)
Introduce new objtool features and a klp-build
script to generate livepatch modules using a
source .patch as input.
This builds on concepts from the longstanding out-of-tree
kpatch project which began in 2012 and has been used for
many years to generate livepatch modules for production kernels.
However, this is a complete rewrite which incorporates
hard-earned lessons from 12+ years of maintaining kpatch.
Key improvements compared to kpatch-build:
- Integrated with objtool: Leverages objtool's existing control-flow
graph analysis to help detect changed functions.
- Works on vmlinux.o: Supports late-linked objects, making it
compatible with LTO, IBT, and similar.
- Simplified code base: ~3k fewer lines of code.
- Upstream: No more out-of-tree #ifdef hacks, far less cruft.
- Cleaner internals: Vastly simplified logic for symbol/section/reloc
inclusion and special section extraction.
- Robust __LINE__ macro handling: Avoids false positive binary diffs
caused by the __LINE__ macro by introducing a fix-patch-lines script
which injects #line directives into the source .patch to preserve
the original line numbers at compile time.
- Disassemble code with libopcodes instead of running objdump
(Alexandre Chartre)
- Disassemble support (-d option to objtool) by Alexandre Chartre,
which supports the decoding of various Linux kernel code generation
specials such as alternatives:

x86/boot: Drop unused sev_enable() fallback
The misc.h header is not included by the EFI stub, which is the only C caller of sev_enable(). x86/boot: Fix page table access in 5-level to 4-level paging transition
When transitioning from 5-level to 4-level paging, the existing code
incorrectly accesses page table entries by directly dereferencing CR3 and
applying PAGE_MASK. This approach has several issues:
- __native_read_cr3() returns the raw CR3 register value, which on x86_64
includes not just the physical address but also flags. Bits above the
physical address width of the system i.e. above __PHYSICAL_MASK_SHIFT) are
also not masked.
- The PGD entry is masked by PAGE_SIZE which doesn't take into account the
higher bits such as _PAGE_BIT_NOPTISHADOW.
Replace this with proper accessor functions:
- native_read_cr3_pa(): Uses CR3_ADDR_MASK to additionally mask metadata out
of CR3 (like SME or LAM bits). All remaining bits are real address bits or
reserved and must be 0.
- mask pgd value with PTE_PFN_MASK instead of PAGE_MASK, accounting for flags
above bit 51 (_PAGE_BIT_NOPTISHADOW in particular). Bits below 51, but above
the max physical address are reserved and must be 0.

x86/boot: Move boot_*msr helpers to asm/shared/msr.h
The boot_{rdmsr,wrmsr}() helpers are *just* the barebones MSR access
functionality, without any tracing or exception handling glue as it is done in
kernel proper.
Move these helpers to asm/shared/msr.h and rename to raw_{rdmsr,wrmsr}() to
indicate what they are.
[ bp: Correct the reason why those helpers exist. I should've caught that in
the original patch that added them:

x86/boot: Drop erroneous __init annotation from early_set_pages_state()
The kexec code will call set_pages_state() after tearing down all the GHCBs,

x86/asm: Remove code depending on __GCC_ASM_FLAG_OUTPUTS__
The minimum supported GCC version is 8.1, which supports flag output operands and always defines __GCC_ASM_FLAG_OUTPUTS__ macro. Remove code depending on __GCC_ASM_FLAG_OUTPUTS__ and use the "=@ccCOND" flag output operand directly. Use the equivalent "=@ccz" instead of "=@cce" flag output operand for CMPXCHG8B and CMPXCHG16B instructions. These instructions set a single flag bit - the Zero flag - and "=@ccz" is used to distinguish the CC user from comparison instructions, where set ZERO flag indeed means that the values are equal. efistub/x86: Remap inittext read-execute when needed
Recent EFI x86 systems are more strict when it comes to mapping boot images, and require that mappings are either read-write or read-execute. Now that the boot code is being cleaned up and refactored, most of it is being moved into .init.text [where it arguably belongs] but that implies that when booting on such strict EFI firmware, we need to take care to map .init.text (and the .altinstr_aux section that follows it) read-execute as well.
