Older gen use a physical address for the hardware status page, for which we use cache-coherent writes. As the writes are into the cpu cache, we use a normal WB mapped page to read the HWS, used for our seqno tracking. Anecdotally, I observed lost breadcrumbs writes into the HWS on i965gm, which so far have not reoccurred with this patch. How reliable that evidence is remains to be seen. v2: Explicitly pass the expected physical address to the hw v3: Also remember the wild writes we once had for HWS above 4G. Linux kernel
============
There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can
be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read
Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
See Documentation/00-INDEX for a list of what is contained in each file.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
