Linux kernel source tree
x86_spec_ctrL_mask is intended to mask out bits from a MSR_SPEC_CTRL value which are not to be modified. However the implementation is not really used and the bitmask was inverted to make a check easier, which was removed in "x86/bugs: Remove x86_spec_ctrl_set()" Aside of that it is missing the STIBP bit if it is supported by the platform, so if the mask would be used in x86_virt_spec_ctrl() then it would prevent a guest from setting STIBP. Add the STIBP bit if supported and use the mask in x86_virt_spec_ctrl() to sanitize the value which is supplied by the guest. Linux kernel
============
There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can
be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read
Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
See Documentation/00-INDEX for a list of what is contained in each file.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
