To run correctly, each Virtual Function must be provisioned with some chunk of shared hardware or firmware resources (like GGTT, device memory, GuC doorbell IDs, GuC context IDs) and scheduling parameters (execution quantum or preemption timeout). All resources assigned to VFs must be excluded from the PF driver use and may require some additional preparation steps (like setup of the LMTT or update of the GGTT PTE). Those provisioning details must be then sent to the GuC firmware as most of those details will be shared later with the VF drivers during their boot. Add basic functions to provision VFs with all hardware resources or scheduling parameters. We will use them shortly in upcoming patches either in manual provisioning over debugfs, exposed to the advanced users, or automatic provisioning done by PF driver during VFs enabling. Linux kernel
============
There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can
be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read
Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the reStructuredText markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
