When opts->pnp_string is changed with configfs, new memory is allocated for
the string. It does not, however, update dev->pnp_string, even though the
memory is freed. When rquesting the string, the host then gets old or
corrupted data rather than the new string. The ieee 1284 id string should
be allowed to change while the device is connected.
The bug was introduced in commit fdc01cc286 ("usb: gadget: printer:
Remove pnp_string static buffer"), which changed opts->pnp_string from a
char[] to a char*.
This patch changes dev->pnp_string from a char* to a char** pointing to
opts->pnp_string.

This patch is changing the simple workqueue in the gadget driver to be
allocated as async_wq with a higher priority. The pump worker, that is
filling the usb requests, will have a higher priority and will not be
scheduled away so often while the video stream is handled. This will
lead to fewer streaming underruns.

This from static analysis. The vla_item() takes a size and adds it to
the total. It has a built in integer overflow check so if it encounters
an integer overflow anywhere then it records the total as SIZE_MAX.
However there is an issue here because the "lang_count*(needed_count+1)"
multiplication can overflow. Technically the "lang_count + 1" addition
could overflow too, but that would be detected and is harmless. Fix
both using the new size_add() and size_mul() functions.

As follows from #define NAME_TEMPLATE, the procfs code in the RNDIS driver
expects the # of instances to be 3-digit decimal, while the driver calls
ida_simple_get() passing 0 as the 'end' argument which results in actual
max instance # of INT_MAX. Limit the maximum # of RNDIS instances to 1000

During cdrom emulation, the response to read_toc command must contain
the cdrom address as the number of sectors (2048 byte sized blocks)
represented either as an absolute value (when MSF bit is '0') or in
terms of PMin/PSec/PFrame (when MSF bit is set to '1'). Incase of
cdrom, the fsg_lun_open call sets the sector size to 2048 bytes.
When MAC OS sends a read_toc request with MSF set to '1', the
store_cdrom_address assumes that the address being provided is the
LUN size represented in 512 byte sized blocks instead of 2048. It
tries to modify the address further to convert it to 2048 byte sized
blocks and store it in MSF format. This results in data transfer
failures as the cdrom address being provided in the read_toc response
is incorrect.

It allows to reset prevent_medium_removal flag and "eject" the image.
This can be useful to free the drive from a hunging host or if the host
continues to use the drive even after unmounting (Linux does this).
It's also a bit like using an unfolded paperclip on an optical drive.
Previously, the undocumented method of sending SIGUSR1 to a special
"file-storage" kernel thread could be used for these purposes,
but when using multiple storages there was no way to distinguish
one from the other, so we had to send a signal to everyone.

The current limitation of possible number of requests being handled is
dependent on the gadget speed. It makes more sense to depend on the
typical frame size when calculating the number of requests. This patch
is changing this and is using the previous limits as boundaries for
reasonable minimum and maximum number of requests.
For a 1080p jpeg encoded video stream with a maximum imagesize of
e.g. 800kB with a maxburst of 8 and an multiplier of 1 the resulting

In systemd systems setting a fixed MAC address through
the "dev_addr" module argument fails systematically.
When checking the MAC address after the interface is created
it always has the same but different MAC address to the one
supplied as argument.
This is partially caused by systemd which by default will
set an internally generated permanent MAC address for interfaces
that are marked as having a randomly generated address.
Commit 890d5b4090 ("usb: gadget: u_ether: fix race in
setting MAC address in setup phase") didn't take into account
the fact that the interface must be marked as having a set
MAC address when it's set as module argument.
Fixed by marking the interface with NET_ADDR_SET when
the "dev_addr" module argument is supplied.

Here is the "big" set of USB and Thunderbolt driver changes for
5.18-rc1. For the most part it's been a quiet development cycle for the

Included in here are:
- Thunderbolt driver updates:
- fixes for devices without displayport adapters
- lane bonding support and improvements
- other minor changes based on device testing
- dwc3 gadget driver changes. It seems this driver will never
be finished given that the IP core is showing up in zillions
of new devices and each implementation decides to do something
different with it...
- uvc gadget driver updates as more devices start to use and
rely on this hardware as well
- usb_maxpacket() api changes to remove an unneeded and unused
parameter.
- usb-serial driver device id updates and small cleanups
- typec cleanups and fixes based on device testing
- device tree updates for usb properties
- lots of other small fixes and driver updates.

it is allowed to give it back to vb2. This patch fixes that.

The function uvcg_queue_next_buffer is used different than its name
suggests. The return value nextbuf is never used by any caller. This
patch reworks the function to its actual purpose, by removing the unused
code and renaming it. The function name uvcg_complete_buffer makes it
more clear that it is actually marking the current video buffer as
complete.

The pause flag doesn't appear to serve a purpose as it is possible for
the pump worker thread to not be running when new buffers are queued.
Before the following change was introduced: "43cd0023872e usb: gadget:
uvc_video: add worker to handle the frame pumping", the pause flag
status was discarded and never returned. This masked a current issues of
the userspace receiving non-zero values (considered unsuccessful) and
prevents trace_v4l2_qbuf() from being called.

During the uvcg_video_pump() process, if an error occurs and
uvcg_queue_cancel() is called, the buffer queue will be cleared out, but
the current marker (queue->buf_used) of the active buffer (no longer
active) is not reset. On the next iteration of uvcg_video_pump() the
stale buf_used count will be used and the logic of min((unsigned
int)len, buf->bytesused - queue->buf_used) may incorrectly calculate a
nbytes size, causing an invalid memory access.

Here is the big set of USB and Thunderbolt changes for 5.18-rc1.
Nothing major in here, just lots of little improvements and cleanups and
new device support. Highlights are:
- list iterator fixups for when we walk past the end of the list
(a common problem that was cut/pasted in almost all USB gadget
drivers)
- xen USB driver "hardening" for malicious hosts
- xhci driver updates and fixes for more hardware types
- xhci debug cable fixes to make it actually work again
- usb gadget audio driver improvements
- usb gadget storage fixes to work with OS-X
- lots of other small usb gadget fixes and updates
- USB DWC3 driver improvements for more hardware types
- Lots of other small USB driver improvements
- DTS updates for some USB platforms
Note, the DTS updates will have a merge conflict in your tree. The
fixup should be simple, but if not, I can provide a merged tree if
needed.
All of these have been in linux-next for a while with no reported
issues.

Several users have reported that their Win10 does not enumerate UAC2
gadget with the existing wTerminalType set to
UAC_INPUT_TERMINAL_UNDEFINED/UAC_INPUT_TERMINAL_UNDEFINED, e.g.
https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/issues/4587#issuecomment-926567213.
While the constant is officially defined by the USB terminal types
document, e.g. XMOS firmware for UAC2 (commonly used for Win10) defines
no undefined output terminal type in its usbaudio20.h header.
Therefore wTerminalType of EP-IN is set to
UAC_INPUT_TERMINAL_MICROPHONE and wTerminalType of EP-OUT to
UAC_OUTPUT_TERMINAL_SPEAKER for the UAC2 gadget.

Consider a case where ffs_func_eps_disable is called from
ffs_func_disable as part of composition switch and at the
same time ffs_epfile_release get called from userspace.
ffs_epfile_release will free up the read buffer and call
ffs_data_closed which in turn destroys ffs->epfiles and
mark it as NULL. While this was happening the driver has
already initialized the local epfile in ffs_func_eps_disable
which is now freed and waiting to acquire the spinlock. Once
spinlock is acquired the driver proceeds with the stale value
of epfile and tries to free the already freed read buffer
causing use-after-free.
Following is the illustration of the race:
CPU1 CPU2
ffs_func_eps_disable
epfiles (local copy)
ffs_epfile_release
ffs_data_closed
if (last file closed)
ffs_data_reset
ffs_data_clear
ffs_epfiles_destroy
spin_lock
dereference epfiles
Fix this races by taking epfiles local copy & assigning it under
spinlock and if epfiles(local) is null then update it in ffs->epfiles
then finally destroy it.
Extending the scope further from the race, protecting the ep related
structures, and concurrent accesses.

The Playback/Capture ctl currently reports rate value set by USB
control selector UAC2_CS_CONTROL_SAM_FREQ (fixed for UAC1). When the
stops playback/capture, the reported value does not change. The gadget
side has no information whether the host has started/stopped
capture/playback.
This patch sets the value reported by the respective rate ctl to zero
when the host side has stopped playback/capture. Also, it calls
snd_ctl_notify when start/stop occurs, so that a subscribed client can
act appropriately.
Tests have confirmed that USB hosts change UAC2_CS_CONTROL_SAM_FREQ
before switching altsetting to activate playback/capture, resulting in
correct order (params->c/p_srate is set to requested rate before
u_audio_start_capture/playback is called).
The gadget rate notifications are used by user-space audio gadget
controller gaudio_ctl https://github.com/pavhofman/gaudio_ctl.

Mac OS-X expects CD-ROM TOC in raw format (i.e. format:2). It also
sends the READ_TOC CDB in old style SFF8020i format. i.e. 2 format bits
are encoded in MSBs of CDB byte 9.
This patch will enable CD-ROM emulation to work with Mac OS-X. Tested on
Mac OS X v10.6.3.

Some UDCs may return an error during pullup disable as part of the
unbind path for a USB configuration. This will lead to a scenario
where the disable() callback is skipped, whereas the unbind() still
occurs. If this happens, the u_serial driver will continue to fail
subsequent binds, due to an already existing entry in the ports array.
Ensure that gserial_disconnect() is called during the f_serial unbind,
so the ports entry is properly cleared.

Pull signal/exit/ptrace updates from Eric Biederman:
"This set of changes deletes some dead code, makes a lot of cleanups
which hopefully make the code easier to follow, and fixes bugs found
along the way.
The end-game which I have not yet reached yet is for fatal signals
that generate coredumps to be short-circuit deliverable from
complete_signal, for force_siginfo_to_task not to require changing
userspace configured signal delivery state, and for the ptrace stops
to always happen in locations where we can guarantee on all
architectures that the all of the registers are saved and available on
the stack.
Removal of profile_task_ext, profile_munmap, and profile_handoff_task
are the big successes for dead code removal this round.
A bunch of small bug fixes are included, as most of the issues
reported were small enough that they would not affect bisection so I
simply added the fixes and did not fold the fixes into the changes
they were fixing.
There was a bug that broke coredumps piped to systemd-coredump. I
dropped the change that caused that bug and replaced it entirely with
something much more restrained. Unfortunately that required some
rebasing.
Some successes after this set of changes: There are few enough calls
to do_exit to audit in a reasonable amount of time. The lifetime of
struct kthread now matches the lifetime of struct task, and the
pointer to struct kthread is no longer stored in set_child_tid. The
flag SIGNAL_GROUP_COREDUMP is removed. The field group_exit_task is
removed. Issues where task->exit_code was examined with
signal->group_exit_code should been examined were fixed.
There are several loosely related changes included because I am
cleaning up and if I don't include them they will probably get lost.

If bInterval is 1, then p_interval is 8000 and p_interval_mil is 8E9,
which is too big for a 32-bit value. While the storage is indeed
64-bit, this value is used as the divisor in do_div() which will
truncate it into a uint32_t leading to incorrect calculated values.
Switch back to keeping the base value in struct snd_uac_chip which fits
easily into an int, meaning that the division can be done in two steps
with the divisor fitting safely into a uint32_t on both steps.

Update complete_and_exit to call kthread_exit instead of do_exit.
Change the name to reflect this change in functionality. All of the
users of complete_and_exit are causing the current kthread to exit so
this change makes it clear what is happening.
Move the implementation of kthread_complete_and_exit from
kernel/exit.c to to kernel/kthread.c. As this function is kthread
specific it makes most sense to live with the kthread functions.
There are no functional change.

When listening for notifications through netlink of a new interface being
registered, sporadically, it is possible for the MAC to be read as zero.
The zero MAC address lasts a short period of time and then switches to a
valid random MAC address.
This causes problems for netd in Android, which assumes that the interface
is malfunctioning and will not use it.
In the good case we get this log:
InterfaceController::getCfg() ifName usb0
hwAddr 92:a8:f0:73:79:5b ipv4Addr 0.0.0.0 flags 0x1002
In the error case we get these logs:
InterfaceController::getCfg() ifName usb0
hwAddr 00:00:00:00:00:00 ipv4Addr 0.0.0.0 flags 0x1002
netd : interfaceGetCfg("usb0")
netd : interfaceSetCfg() -> ServiceSpecificException
(99, "[Cannot assign requested address] : ioctl() failed")
The reason for the issue is the order in which the interface is setup,
it is first registered through register_netdev() and after the MAC
address is set.
Fixed by first setting the MAC address of the net_device and after that
calling register_netdev().

Unlike the other integral options supported by the MIDI gadget, index is
a signed integer and defaults to -1, which means "choose any sound card
index". The generic store routine parses input into a u32 which fails
to properly read -1 if an attempt is made to set the value to the
default.

format string for unsigned values.

Function fs endpoint file operations are synchronized via an interruptible
mutex wait. However we see threads that do ep file operations concurrently
are getting blocked for the mutex lock in __fdget_pos(). This is an
uninterruptible wait and we see hung task warnings and kernel panic
if hung_task_panic systcl is enabled if host does not send/receive
the data for long time.
The reason for threads getting blocked in __fdget_pos() is due to
the file position protection introduced by the commit 9c225f2655
("vfs: atomic f_pos accesses as per POSIX"). Since function fs
endpoint files does not have the notion of the file position, switch
to the stream mode. This will bypass the file position mutex and
threads will be blocked in interruptible state for the function fs
mutex.
It should not affects user space as we are only changing the task state
changes the task state from UNINTERRUPTIBLE to INTERRUPTIBLE while waiting
for the USB transfers to be finished. However there is a slight change to
the O_NONBLOCK behavior. Earlier threads that are using O_NONBLOCK are also
getting blocked inside fdget_pos(). Now they reach to function fs and error
code is returned. The non blocking behavior is actually honoured now.

This series consists of the usual driver updates (ufs, smartpqi, lpfc,

fixes. Notable core changes are the removal of scsi->tag which caused
some churn in obsolete drivers and a sweep through all drivers to call
scsi_done() directly instead of scsi->done() which removes a pointer
indirection from the hot path and a move to register core sysfs files

When receiving a disconnect event from the UDC, the mass storage
function driver currently runs the handle_exception() routine
asynchronously. For UDCs that support runtime PM, there is a
possibility the UDC is already suspended by the time the
do_set_interface() is executed. This can lead to HW register access
while the UDC is already suspended.

The u_audio param fb_max was not set to its default value in f_uac1.c.
As a result the maximum value of Playback Pitch ctl was kept at 1000000,
not allowing to set faster playback pitch for UAC1.
The setting required moving the default constant UAC2_DEF_FB_MAX from
u_uac2.h to FBACK_FAST_MAX in u_audio.h as that header is common for
f_uac1.c and f_uac2.c.

EP IN is hard-coded as ASYNC both in f_uac1 and f_uac2 but u_audio sends
steady number of audio frames in each USB packet, without any control.
This patch adds 'Playback Pitch 1000000' ctl analogous to the existing
'Capture Pitch 1000000' ctl. The calculation of playback req->length in
u_audio_iso_complete respects the Playback Pitch ctl value to 1ppm now.
Max. value for Playback Pitch is configured by the existing parameter
uac2_opts->fb_max, used also for the Capture Pitch.
Since the EP IN packet size can be increased by uac2_opts->fb_max now,
maxPacketSize for the playback direction is calculated by the same
algorithm as for the async capture direction in
f_uac2.c:set_ep_max_packet_size.

Async feedback patches broke enumeration on Windows 10 previously fixed
by commit 789ea77310 ("usb: gadget: f_uac2: always increase endpoint
max_packet_size by one audio slot").
While the existing calculation for EP OUT capture for async mode yields
size+1 frame due to uac2_opts->fb_max > 0, playback side lost the +1
feature. Therefore the +1 frame addition must be re-introduced for
playback. Win10 enumerates the device only when both EP IN and EP OUT
max packet sizes are (at least) +1 frame.

Currently, the UVC function is activated when open on the corresponding
v4l2 device is called. On another open the activation of the function
fails since the deactivation counter in `usb_function_activate` equals
0. However the error is not returned to userspace since the open of the
v4l2 device is successful.
On a close the function is deactivated (since deactivation counter still
equals 0) and the video is disabled in `uvc_v4l2_release`, although the
UVC application potentially is streaming.
Move activation of UVC function to subscription on UVC_EVENT_SETUP
because there we can guarantee for a userspace application utilizing
UVC. Block subscription on UVC_EVENT_SETUP while another application
already is subscribed to it, indicated by `bool func_connected` in
`struct uvc_device`. Extend the `struct uvc_file_handle` with member
`bool is_uvc_app_handle` to tag it as the handle used by the userspace
UVC application.
With this a process is able to check capabilities of the v4l2 device
without deactivating the function for the actual UVC application.

If the endpoint completion callback is call right after the ep_enabled flag
is cleared and before usb_ep_dequeue() is call, we could do a double free
on the request and the associated buffer.
Fix this by clearing ep_enabled after all the endpoint requests have been
dequeued.

The issue happens only when the gadget is using the sync type "async", not
"adaptive". This indicates that problem is coming from the feedback
endpoint, which is only used with async synchronization mode.
The problem is that request is freed regardless of usb_ep_dequeue(), which
ends up badly if the request is not actually dequeued yet.
Update the feedback endpoint free function to release the endpoint the same
way it is done for the data endpoint, which takes care of the problem.

f_hid provides the OUT Endpoint as only way for receiving reports
from the host. SETUP/SET_REPORT method is not supported, and this causes
a number of compatibility problems with various host drivers, especially
in the case of keyboard emulation using f_hid.
- Some hosts do not support the OUT Endpoint and ignore it,
so it becomes impossible for the gadget to receive a report
from the host. In the case of a keyboard, the gadget loses
the ability to receive the status of the LEDs.
- Some BIOSes/UEFIs can't work with HID devices with the OUT Endpoint
at all. This may be due to their bugs or incomplete implementation
of the HID standard.
For example, absolutely all Apple UEFIs can't handle the OUT Endpoint
if it goes after IN Endpoint in the descriptor and require the reverse
order (OUT, IN) which is a violation of the standard.
Other hosts either do not initialize gadgets with a descriptor
containing the OUT Endpoint completely (like some HP and DELL BIOSes
and embedded firmwares like on KVM switches), or initialize them,
but will not poll the IN Endpoint.
This patch adds configfs option no_out_endpoint=1 to disable
the OUT Endpoint and allows f_hid to receive reports from the host
via SETUP/SET_REPORT.
Previously, there was such a feature in f_hid, but it was replaced
by the OUT Endpoint [1] in the commit 99c5150058 ("usb: gadget: hidg:
register OUT INT endpoint for SET_REPORT"). So this patch actually
returns the removed functionality while making it optional.
For backward compatibility reasons, the OUT Endpoint mode remains
the default behaviour.
- The OUT Endpoint mode provides the report queue and reduces
USB overhead (eliminating SETUP routine) on transmitting a report
from the host.
- If the SETUP/SET_REPORT mode is used, there is no report queue,
so the userspace will only read last report. For classic HID devices
like keyboards this is not a problem, since it's intended to transmit
the status of the LEDs and only the last report is important.
This mode provides better compatibility with strange and buggy
host drivers.
Both modes passed USBCV tests. Checking with the USB protocol analyzer
also confirmed that everything is working as it should and the new mode
ensures operability in all of the described cases.

The USB HID standard declares mandatory support for GET_IDLE and SET_IDLE
requests for Boot Keyboard. Most hosts can handle their absence, but others
like some old/strange UEFIs and BIOSes consider this a critical error
and refuse to work with f_hid.
This primitive implementation of saving and returning idle is sufficient
to meet the requirements of the standard and these devices.

alloc_tty_driver was deprecated by tty_alloc_driver in commit
7f0bc6a68e (TTY: pass flags to alloc_tty_driver) in 2012.
I never got into eliminating alloc_tty_driver until now. So we still
have two functions for allocating drivers which might be confusing. So
get rid of alloc_tty_driver uses to eliminate it for good in the next
patch.
Note we need to switch return value checking as tty_alloc_driver uses
ERR_PTR. And flags are now a parameter of tty_alloc_driver.

When a tty driver pointer is used as a return value of struct
console's device() hook, don't store a semi-state into global variable
which holds the tty driver. It could mean console::device() would return
a bogus value. This is important esp. after the next patch where we
switch from alloc_tty_driver to tty_alloc_driver. tty_alloc_driver
returns ERR_PTR in case of error and that might have unexpected results
as the code doesn't expect this.

f_ncm tx timeout can call us with null skb to flush
a pending frame. In this case skb is NULL to begin
with but ceases to be null after dev->wrap() completes.
In such a case in->maxpacket will be read, even though
we've failed to check that 'in' is not NULL.
Though I've never observed this fail in practice,
however the 'flush operation' simply does not make sense with
a null usb IN endpoint - there's nowhere to flush to...
(note that we're the gadget/device, and IN is from the point
of view of the host, so here IN actually means outbound...)

It is simply not needed. This field is equivalent to skb being NULL.
Currently with the boolean set to true we call:
ncm->netdev->netdev_ops->ndo_start_xmit(NULL, ncm->netdev);
which calls u_ether's:
eth_start_xmit(NULL, ...)
which then calls:
skb = dev->wrap(dev->port_usb, NULL);
which calls back into f_ncm's:
ncm_wrap_ntb(..., NULL)

This adds interface between userspace and feedback endpoint to report real
feedback frequency to the Host.
Current implementation adds new userspace interface ALSA mixer control
"Capture Pitch 1000000" (similar to aloop driver's "PCM Rate Shift 100000"
mixer control)
Value in PPM is chosen to have correction value agnostic of the actual HW
rate, which the application is not necessarily dealing with, while still
retaining a good enough precision to allow smooth clock correction on the
playback side, if necessary.
Similar to sound/usb/endpoint.c, a slow down is allowed up to 25%. This
has no impact on the required bandwidth. Speedup correction has an impact
on the bandwidth reserved for the isochronous endpoint. The default
allowed speedup is 500ppm. This seems to be more than enough but, if
necessary, this is configurable through a module parameter. The reserved
bandwidth is rounded up to the next packet size.
Usage of this new control is easy to implement in existing userspace tools
like alsaloop from alsa-utils.

Current f_uac2 USB OUT (aka 'capture') synchronization
implements 'ASYNC' scenario which means USB Gadget has
it's own freerunning clock and can update Host about
real clock frequency through feedback endpoint so Host
can align number of samples sent to the USB gadget to
prevent overruns/underruns
In case if Gadget can has no it's internal clock and
can consume audio samples at any rate (for example,
on the Gadget side someone records audio directly to
a file, or audio samples are played through an
external DAC as soon as they arrive), UAC2 spec
suggests 'ADAPTIVE' synchronization type.
Change UAC2 driver to make it configurable through
additional 'c_sync' configfs file.
Default remains 'asynchronous' with possibility to
switch it to 'adaptive'

As per USB and UAC2 specs, asynchronous audio sink endpoint
requires explicit synchronization mechanism (Isochronous
Feedback Endpoint)
Implement feedback companion endpoint for ISO OUT endpoint
This patch adds all required infrastructure and USB requests
handling for feedback endpoint. Syncrhonization itself is
still dummy (feedback ep always reports 'nomimal frequency'
e.g. no adjustement is needed). This satisfies hosts that
require feedback endpoint (like Win10) and poll it periodically
Actual synchronization mechanism should be implemented
separately

The reasoning for this change is that if we already had
a packet pending, then we also already had a pending timer,
and as such there is no need to reschedule it.
This also prevents packets getting delayed 60 ms worst case
under a tiny packet every 290us transmit load, by keeping the
timeout always relative to the first queued up packet.
(300us delay * 16KB max aggregation / 80 byte packet =~ 60 ms)
As such the first packet is now at most delayed by 300us.
Under low transmit load, this will simply result in us sending
a shorter aggregate, as originally intended.
This patch has the benefit of greatly reducing (by ~10 factor
with 1500 byte frames aggregated into 16 kiB) the number of
(potentially pretty costly) updates to the hrtimer.

During unbind, ffs_func_eps_disable() will be executed, resulting in
completion callbacks for any pending USB requests. When using AIO,
irrespective of the completion status, io_data work is queued to
io_completion_wq to evaluate and handle the completed requests. Since
work runs asynchronously to the unbind() routine, there can be a
scenario where the work runs after the USB gadget has been fully
removed, resulting in accessing of a resource which has been already
freed. (i.e. usb_ep_free_request() accessing the USB ep structure)
Explicitly drain the io_completion_wq, instead of relying on the
destroy_workqueue() (in ffs_data_put()) to make sure no pending
completion work items are running.

As per UAC2 Audio Data Formats spec (2.3.1.1 USB Packets),
if the sampling rate is a constant, the allowable variation
of number of audio slots per virtual frame is +/- 1 audio slot.
It means that endpoint should be able to accept/send +1 audio
slot.
Previous endpoint max_packet_size calculation code
was adding sometimes +1 audio slot due to DIV_ROUND_UP
behaviour which was rounding up to closest integer.
However this doesn't work if the numbers are divisible.
It had no any impact with Linux hosts which ignore
this issue, but in case of more strict Windows it
caused rejected enumeration
Thus always add +1 audio slot to endpoint's max packet size

target_submit_cmd() is now only for simple drivers that do their own sync
during shutdown and do not use target_stop_session(). It will never return
a failure, so we can remove that code from the driver.
Note: Before these patches target_submit_cmd() would never return an error
for usb since it does not use target_stop_session(). If it did then we
would have hit a refcount error here:
transport_send_check_condition_and_sense(se_cmd,
TCM_UNSUPPORTED_SCSI_OPCODE, 1);
transport_generic_free_cmd(&cmd->se_cmd, 0);
transport_send_check_condition_and_sense() calls queue_status and the
driver can sometimes do transport_generic_free_cmd() from there via
uasp_status_data_cmpl(). In that case, the above
transport_generic_free_cmd() would then hit a refcount error.
So that other use of the above error path in the driver is also probably
wrong, but someone with the hardware needs to fix that.

As per the kernel doc for usb_ep_dequeue(), it states that "this
routine is asynchronous, that is, it may return before the completion
routine runs". And indeed since v5.0 the dwc3 gadget driver updated
its behavior to place dequeued requests on to a cancelled list to be
given back later after the endpoint is stopped.
The free_ep() was incorrectly assuming that a request was ready to
be freed after calling dequeue which results in a use-after-free
in dwc3 when it traverses its cancelled list. Fix this by moving
the usb_ep_free_request() call to the callback itself in case the
ep is disabled.

This patch allows the administrator to configure the interface
name of a function using u_ether (e.g., eem, ncm, rndis).
Currently, all such interfaces, regardless of function type, are
always called usb0, usb1, etc. This makes it very cumbersome to
use more than one such type at a time, because userspace cannnot
easily tell the interfaces apart and apply the right
configuration to each one. Interface renaming in userspace based
on driver doesn't help, because the interfaces all have the same
driver. Without this patch, doing this require hacks/workarounds
such as setting fixed MAC addresses on the functions, and then
renaming by MAC address, or scraping configfs after each
interface is created to find out what it is.
Setting the interface name is done by writing to the same
"ifname" configfs attribute that reports the interface name after
the function is bound. The write must contain an interface
pattern such as "usb%d" (which will cause the net core to pick
the next available interface name starting with "usb").
This patch does not allow writing an exact interface name (as
opposed to a pattern) because if the interface already exists at
bind time, the bind will fail and the whole gadget will fail to
activate. This could be allowed in a future patch.
For compatibility with current userspace, when reading an ifname
that has not currently been set, the result is still "(unnamed
net_device)". Once a write to ifname happens, then reading ifname
will return whatever was last written.
Tested by configuring an rndis function and an ncm function on
the same gadget, and writing "rndis%d" to ifname on the rndis
function and "ncm%d" to ifname on the ncm function. When the
gadget was bound, the rndis interface was rndis0 and the ncm
interface was ncm0.

Currently a tasklet is used to transmit input substream buffer
data. However, tasklets have long been deprecated as being too
heavy on the system by running in irq context - and this is not
a performance critical path. If a higher priority process wants
to run, it must wait for the tasklet to finish before doing so.
Deferring work to a workqueue and executing in process context
should be fine considering the callback already does
f_midi_do_transmit() under the transmit_lock and thus changes in
semantics are ok regarding concurrency - tasklets being serialized
against itself.

The usb_f_printer gadget driver uses a default q_len value of *0* which prevents
any IO from occurring. Moreover, once the driver is instantiated it is
impossible to change the q_len value.
The following patch uses a default q_len value of 10 which matches the legacy
g_printer gadget driver. This minimizes the possibility that you end up with a
non-working printer gadget. It is still possible to set the q_len to a
different value using the configfs path of the same name.

Fix the MTU size issue with RX packet size as the host sends the packet
with extra bytes containing ethernet header. This causes failure when

length. This patch fixes the issue where there is a check that RX packet

In many cases a function that supports SuperSpeed can very well
operate in SuperSpeedPlus, if a gadget controller supports it,
as the endpoint descriptors (and companion descriptors) are
generally identical and can be re-used. This is true for two
commonly used functions: Android's ADB and MTP. So we can simply
assign the usb_function's ssp_descriptors array to point to its
ss_descriptors, if available. Similarly, we need to allow an
epfile's ioctl for FUNCTIONFS_ENDPOINT_DESC to correctly
return the corresponding SuperSpeed endpoint descriptor in case
the connected speed is SuperSpeedPlus as well.
The only exception is if a function wants to implement an
Isochronous endpoint capable of transferring more than 48KB per
service interval when operating at greater than USB 3.1 Gen1
speed, in which case it would require an additional SuperSpeedPlus
Isochronous Endpoint Companion descriptor to be returned as part
of the Configuration Descriptor. Support for that would need
to be separately added to the userspace-facing FunctionFS API
which may not be a trivial task--likely a new descriptor format
(v3?) may need to be devised to allow for separate SS and SSP
descriptors to be supplied.
