cb8afea465 wifi: cfg80211: bound element ID read when checking non-inheritance
cfg80211_is_element_inherited() reads the first data octet of the
candidate element (id = elem->data[0]) to look it up in an extension
non-inheritance list. It does so after testing elem->id, but without
verifying that the element actually has a data octet. A zero-length
extension element (WLAN_EID_EXTENSION with length 0) therefore makes it
read one octet past the end of the element.

_ieee802_11_parse_elems_full() runs this check for every element of a
frame once a non-inheritance context exists -- e.g. while parsing a
per-STA profile of a Multi-Link element in a (re)association response,
or a non-transmitted BSS profile -- so a crafted frame from an AP can
trigger a one-octet slab-out-of-bounds read during element parsing:

  BUG: KASAN: slab-out-of-bounds in cfg80211_is_element_inherited
  Read of size 1 ... in net/wireless/scan.c

Return early (treat the element as inherited) when an extension element
carries no data, mirroring the existing handling of empty ID lists.

The bug was found by fuzzing ieee802_11_parse_elems_full() under KASAN.

4e5a4641e7 wifi: cfg80211: derive S1G beacon TSF from S1G fields
cfg80211_inform_bss_frame_data() parses S1G beacons with the extension
frame layout, but still reads the TSF from the regular probe response
layout after the S1G branch. For S1G beacons that reads bytes at the
regular management-frame timestamp offset instead of the S1G timestamp.

Use the 32-bit S1G beacon timestamp and the S1G Beacon Compatibility
element's TSF completion field when informing an S1G BSS. Keep the
regular management-frame timestamp read in the non-S1G branch.

74e27cd1d9 wifi: cfg80211: validate EHT MLE before MLD ID read
cfg80211_gen_new_ie() copies ML probe response elements from
the parent frame when the parent EHT multi-link element has an
MLD ID matching the nontransmitted BSSID index.

The code only checked that the extension element had more than
one byte before calling ieee80211_mle_get_mld_id(). That helper
assumes a BASIC MLE with enough common info and documents that
callers must first use ieee80211_mle_type_ok().

Attack chain:
malicious AP sends a short EHT MLE in an MBSSID beacon.
cfg80211_inform_bss_frame_data() stores the copied IE buffer.
cfg80211_parse_mbssid_data() builds the nontransmitted BSS IE.
cfg80211_gen_new_ie() sees the EHT MLE in the parent frame.
ieee80211_mle_get_mld_id() then reads past the IE boundary.

Validate the MLE type and size before reading the MLD ID. This
matches the contract required by the MLE helper and rejects the
short element before any internal MLE fields are accessed.

7666dbb1ba wifi: cfg80211: advance loop vars in cfg80211_merge_profile()
cfg80211_merge_profile() reassembles a Multi-BSSID non-transmitted BSS
profile that has been split across multiple consecutive MBSSID elements.
Its while-loop calls

	cfg80211_get_profile_continuation(ie, ielen, mbssid_elem, sub_elem)

but never advances mbssid_elem or sub_elem inside the body. Each
iteration therefore searches for a continuation that follows the same
fixed pair; the helper returns the same next_mbssid; and the same
next_sub bytes are memcpy()'d into merged_ie at a growing offset until
the buffer fills.

Advance both mbssid_elem and sub_elem to the just-consumed continuation
so the next call to cfg80211_get_profile_continuation() searches for a
further continuation beyond it (or returns NULL when none exists).

A specially-crafted malicious beacon can take advantage of this bug
to cause the kernel to spend an excessive amount of time in
cfg80211_merge_profile (up to as much as 2ms per beacon received),
which could theoretically be abused in some way.

This is the exact same thing as the 'alloc_obj()' version, only much
smaller because there are a lot fewer users of the *alloc_flex()
interface.

As with alloc_obj() version, this was done entirely with mindless brute
force, using the same script, except using 'flex' in the pattern rather
than 'objs*'.

69050f8d6d treewide: Replace kmalloc with kmalloc_obj for non-scalar types
This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from
scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. The script is designed to
avoid scalar types (which need careful case-by-case checking), and
instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union
object instances:

Single allocations:	kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...)

Array allocations:	kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...)

Flex array allocations:	kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...)

(where TYPE may also be *VAR)

The resulting allocations no longer return "void *", instead returning
"TYPE *".

4073ea5161 wifi: cfg80211: Fix use_for flag update on BSS refresh
Userspace may fail to connect to certain BSS that were initially
marked as unusable due to regulatory restrictions (use_for = 0,
e.g., 6 GHz power type mismatch). Even after these restrictions
are removed and the BSS becomes usable, connection attempts still
fail.

The issue occurs in cfg80211_update_known_bss() where the use_for
flag is updated using bitwise AND (&=) instead of direct assignment.
Once a BSS is marked with use_for = 0, the AND operation masks out
any subsequent non-zero values, permanently keeping the flag at 0.
This causes __cfg80211_get_bss(), invoked by nl80211_assoc_bss(), to
fail the check "(bss->pub.use_for & use_for) != use_for", thereby
blocking association.

Replace the bitwise AND operation with direct assignment so the use_for
flag accurately reflects the current BSS state.

185cc2352c wifi: cfg80211: update the time stamps in hidden ssid
In hidden SSID we have separate BSS entries for the beacon and for the

The BSS entry time stamps represent the age of the BSS;

When we receive a beacon of a hidden SSID it means that we heard that
BSS, so it makes sense to indicate that in the probe response entries.
Do that.

a11ec0dc92 wifi: cfg80211/mac80211: implement dot11ExtendedRegInfoSupport
Implement dot11ExtendedRegInfoSupport to advertise non-AP station
regulatory power capability as part of regulatory connectivity
element in (Re)Association request frames so that AP can achieve
maximum client connectivity. Control field which was interpreted
using value of 3-bits B5 to B3, now uses value of 4-bits B6 to B3 to
interpret the type of AP. Hence update IEEE80211_HE_6GHZ_OPER_CTRL_REG_INFO
to parse 4-bits control field. If older AP still updates only 3-bits
value of control field, station can still interpret the value as per
section E.2.7 of IEEE 802.11 REVme D7.0 and support the appropriate
AP type.

Also update IEEE80211_6GHZ_CTRL_REG_INDOOR_SP_AP as the value of
standard power AP is changed to 8 instead of 4 so that AP can support both
LPI AP and SP AP to maximize the connectivity with stations. For backward
compatibility, keeping value 4 as old AP by limiting it to SP AP only.

1e1f706fc2 wifi: cfg80211/mac80211: correctly parse S1G beacon optional elements
S1G beacons are not traditional beacons but a type of extension frame.
Extension frames contain the frame control and duration fields, followed
by zero or more optional fields before the frame body. These optional
fields are distinct from the variable length elements.

The presence of optional fields is indicated in the frame control field.
To correctly locate the elements offset, the frame control must be parsed
to identify which optional fields are present. Currently, mac80211 parses
S1G beacons based on fixed assumptions about the frame layout, without
inspecting the frame control field. This can result in incorrect offsets
to the "variable" portion of the frame.

Properly parse S1G beacon frames by using the field lengths defined in
IEEE 802.11-2024, section 9.3.4.3, ensuring that the elements offset is
calculated accurately.

023c1f2f06 wifi: cfg80211: fix out-of-bounds access during multi-link element defragmentation
Currently during the multi-link element defragmentation process, the
multi-link element length added to the total IEs length when calculating
the length of remaining IEs after the multi-link element in
cfg80211_defrag_mle(). This could lead to out-of-bounds access if the
multi-link element or its corresponding fragment elements are the last
elements in the IEs buffer.

To address this issue, correctly calculate the remaining IEs length by
deducting the multi-link element end offset from total IEs end offset.

61dcfa8c2a wifi: cfg80211: copy multi-link element from the multi-link probe request's frame body to the generated elements
According to Draft P802.11be_D7.0 clause 35.3.4.2, if a multi-link

nontransmitted BSSID, the corresponding multi-link probe response
shall carry a basic multi-mink element of that MLD in the frame body
of the multi-link probe response, whose location is outside of the
Multiple BSSID element carried in the frame.

Therefore additional handing is needed for parsing multi-link probe
response and generating the merged elements so that the MLD in the frame
body can be correctly copied to the generated elements. Otherwise, the
nontransmitted BSS looks like non-MLD.

3607798ad9 wifi: cfg80211: add option for vif allowed radios
This allows users to prevent a vif from affecting radios other than the
configured ones. This can be useful in cases where e.g. an AP is running
on one radio, and triggering a scan on another radio should not disturb it.

Changing the allowed radios list for a vif is supported, but only while
it is down.

While it is possible to achieve the same by always explicitly specifying
a frequency list for scan requests and ensuring that the wrong channel/band
is never accidentally set on an unrelated interface, this change makes
multi-radio wiphy setups a lot easier to deal with for CLI users.

By itself, this patch only enforces the radio mask for scanning requests
and remain-on-channel. Follow-up changes build on this to limit configured
frequencies.

e1a9ae3a73 wifi: cfg80211: Do not create BSS entries for unsupported channels
Currently, in cfg80211_parse_ml_elem_sta_data(), when RNR element
indicates a BSS that operates in a channel that current regulatory
domain doesn't support, a NULL value is returned by
ieee80211_get_channel_khz() and assigned to this BSS entry's channel
field. Later in cfg80211_inform_single_bss_data(), the reported
BSS entry's channel will be wrongly overridden by transmitted BSS's.
This could result in connection failure that when wpa_supplicant
tries to select this reported BSS entry while it actually resides in
an unsupported channel.

Since this channel is not supported, it is reasonable to skip such

7f12e26a19 wifi: cfg80211: make hash table duplicates more survivable
Jiazi Li reported that they occasionally see hash table duplicates
as evidenced by the WARN_ON() in rb_insert_bss() in this code. It
isn't clear how that happens, nor have I been able to reproduce it,
but if it does happen, the kernel crashes later, when it tries to
unhash the entry that's now not hashed.

Try to make this situation more survivable by removing the BSS from
the list(s) as well, that way it's fully leaked here (as had been
the intent in the hash insert error path), and no longer reachable
through the list(s) so it shouldn't be unhashed again later.

0941772342 wifi: cfg80211: wext: set ssids=NULL for passive scans
In nl80211, we always set the ssids of a scan request to
NULL when n_ssids==0 (passive scan). Drivers have relied
on this behaviour in the past, so we fixed it in 6 GHz
scan requests as well, and added a warning so we'd have
assurance the API would always be called that way.

syzbot found that wext doesn't ensure that, so we reach
the check and trigger the warning. Fix the wext code to
set the ssids pointer to NULL when there are none.

f7a8b10bfd wifi: cfg80211: fix 6 GHz scan request building
The 6 GHz scan request struct allocated by cfg80211_scan_6ghz() is
meant to be formed this way:

 [base struct][channels][ssids][6ghz_params]

It is allocated with [channels] as the maximum number of channels
supported by the driver in the 6 GHz band, since allocation is
before knowing how many there will be.

However, the inner pointers are set incorrectly: initially, the
6 GHz scan parameters pointer is set:

 [base struct][channels]
                        ^ scan_6ghz_params

and later the SSID pointer is set to the end of the actually
_used_ channels.

 [base struct][channels]
                  ^ ssids

If many APs were to be discovered, and many channels used, and
there were many SSIDs, then the SSIDs could overlap the 6 GHz
parameters.

Additionally, the request->ssids for most of the function points
to the original request still (given the struct copy) but is used
normally, which is confusing.

Clear this up, by actually using the allocated space for 6 GHz
parameters _after_ the SSIDs, and set up the SSIDs initially so
they are used more clearly. Just like in nl80211.c, set them
only if there actually are SSIDs though.

Finally, also copy the elements (ie/ie_len) so they're part of
the same request, not pointing to the old request.

97f8df4db4 wifi: cfg80211: ignore non-TX BSSs in per-STA profile
If a non-TX BSS is included in a per-STA profile, then we cannot set
transmitted_bss for it. Even worse, if we do things properly we should
be configuring both bssid_index and max_bssid_indicator correctly. We do
not actually have both pieces of information (and, some APs currently
do not include either).

So, ignore any per-STA profile where the RNR says that the BSS is not
transmitted. Also fix transmitted_bss to never be set for per-STA
profiles.

This fixes issues where mac80211 was setting the reference BSSID to an
incorrect value.

8ade3356b2 wifi: cfg80211: allow cfg80211_defragment_element() without output
If we just want to determine the length of the fragmented
data, we basically need the same logic, and really we want
it to be _literally_ the same logic, so it cannot be out
of sync in any way.

Allow calling cfg80211_defragment_element() without an output
buffer, where it then just returns the required output size.

Also add this to the tests, just to exercise it, using the
pre-calculated length to really do the defragmentation, which
checks that this is sufficient.
