78f75d632f rds: tcp: hold the RCU lock across ipv6_chk_addr() in rds_tcp_laddr_check()
rds_tcp_laddr_check() looks up a scoped IPv6 interface with
dev_get_by_index_rcu(), drops the RCU read-side lock, and only then
passes the bare struct net_device * into ipv6_chk_addr().

dev_get_by_index_rcu() only keeps the device alive within the same RCU
read-side section. After rcu_read_unlock(), a concurrent RTM_DELLINK can
free the net_device; ipv6_chk_addr() then dereferences the stale pointer
in __ipv6_chk_addr_and_flags() (e.g. l3mdev_master_dev_rcu(dev)), reading
freed memory.

Keep the RCU read-side lock held across the ipv6_chk_addr() call instead
of dropping it right after the lookup, so the device cannot be freed
while it is in use.

167e54c703 rds: tcp: unregister sysctl before tearing down listen socket
rds_tcp_exit_net() frees the per-netns RDS TCP listen socket via
rds_tcp_kill_sock() before unregistering the per-netns sysctl table. Since
rds_tcp_skbuf_handler() derives the netns from
rtn->rds_tcp_listen_sock->sk, a concurrent sysctl write can race with
netns teardown and dereference the freed socket/sk.

KASAN reports the race as:

  BUG: KASAN: slab-use-after-free in rds_tcp_skbuf_handler+0x2aa/0x2e0
  rds_tcp_skbuf_handler              net/rds/tcp.c:721

  __x64_sys_pwrite64                 fs/read_write.c

Fix this by unregistering the RDS TCP sysctl table before calling
rds_tcp_kill_sock().  unregister_net_sysctl_table() prevents new sysctl
handlers from starting and waits for in-flight handlers to finish, so
the listen socket can then be released safely. The fix was tested
against the linked reproducer.

c96a5209dd rds: filter RDS_INFO_* getsockopt by caller's netns
The RDS_INFO_* family of getsockopt(2) options reads several
file-scope global lists that are not per-netns:

  rds_sock_info / rds6_sock_info,
  rds_sock_inc_info / rds6_sock_inc_info        -> rds_sock_list
  rds_tcp_tc_info / rds6_tcp_tc_info            -> rds_tcp_tc_list
  rds_conn_info / rds6_conn_info,
  rds_conn_message_info_cmn (for the *_SEND_MESSAGES and
  *_RETRANS_MESSAGES variants),
  rds_for_each_conn_info (for RDS_INFO_IB_CONNECTIONS)
                                                -> rds_conn_hash[]

The handlers do not filter by the caller's network namespace.
rds_info_getsockopt() has no netns or capable() check, and
rds_create() has no capable() check, so AF_RDS is reachable from
an unprivileged user namespace. As a result, an unprivileged
caller in a fresh user_ns plus netns can read the bound address
and sock inode of every RDS socket on the host, the peer address
of incoming messages on every RDS socket on the host, the peer
address and TCP sequence numbers of every rds-tcp connection on
the host, and the peer address and RDS sequence numbers of every
RDS connection on the host.

The rds-tcp transport is reachable from a non-initial netns (see
rds_set_transport()), so a one-shot init_net gate at
rds_info_getsockopt() would deny legitimate per-netns visibility
to rds-tcp callers. Instead, filter at each handler by comparing
the netns of the caller's socket to the netns of the list entry,
or to rds_conn_net(conn) for connection paths. Only copy entries
whose netns matches the caller. Counters (RDS_INFO_COUNTERS) are
aggregate statistics and remain global.

Reproducer (KASAN VM, rds and rds_tcp loaded): an AF_RDS socket
binds 127.0.0.1:4242 in init_net as root. A child process enters
a fresh user_ns plus netns and opens AF_RDS there, then calls
getsockopt(SOL_RDS, RDS_INFO_SOCKETS). Before this change, the
child sees the init_net socket. After this change, the child
sees zero entries.

Drop the rds_sock_count, rds_tcp_tc_count, and rds6_tcp_tc_count
globals. v2 used them for the size precheck and lens->nr; v3
replaced the precheck with a per-ns count from a first pass over
the list, so the globals have no remaining readers. The matching
increments and decrements in rds_create()/rds_destroy_sock() and
rds_tcp_set_callbacks()/rds_tcp_restore_callbacks() go away with
them. Reported by the kernel test robot under clang W=1.

d2bfdbb69c rds_tcp: close NULL deref window in rds_tcp_set_callbacks
rds_tcp_set_callbacks() links a new rds_tcp_connection onto
rds_tcp_tc_list under rds_tcp_tc_list_lock. It releases the
lock, then assigns tc->t_sock = sock outside the lock.

rds_tcp_tc_info() and rds6_tcp_tc_info() walk rds_tcp_tc_list
under the same lock. Both dereference tc->t_sock->sk without
a NULL check.

A reader can acquire rds_tcp_tc_list_lock between the writer's
spin_unlock and the t_sock store. It then sees a list entry
whose t_sock is NULL. The dereference of tc->t_sock->sk is a
NULL access.

Move tc->t_sock = sock inside rds_tcp_tc_list_lock, before
list_add_tail. A reader holding the lock then observes the
linkage and the t_sock store together.

The restore path is safe. rds_tcp_restore_callbacks() does
list_del_init inside the lock. The matching tc->t_sock = NULL
after unlink is harmless to readers holding the lock.

6a877ececd net/rds: Fix circular locking dependency in rds_tcp_tune
syzbot reported a circular locking dependency in rds_tcp_tune() where
sk_net_refcnt_upgrade() is called while holding the socket lock:

but task is already holding lock:
ffff88805a3c1ce0 (k-sk_lock-AF_INET6){+.+.}-{0:0},
at: rds_tcp_tune+0xd7/0x930

The issue occurs because sk_net_refcnt_upgrade() performs memory
allocation (via get_net_track() -> ref_tracker_alloc()) while the
socket lock is held, creating a circular dependency with fs_reclaim.

Fix this by moving sk_net_refcnt_upgrade() outside the socket lock
critical section. This is safe because the fields modified by the
sk_net_refcnt_upgrade() call (sk_net_refcnt, ns_tracker) are not
accessed by any concurrent code path at this point.

7b821da55b rds: tcp: fix uninit-value in __inet_bind
KMSAN reported an uninit-value access in __inet_bind() when binding
an RDS TCP socket.

The uninitialized memory originates from rds_tcp_conn_alloc(),
which uses kmem_cache_alloc() to allocate the rds_tcp_connection structure.

Specifically, the field 't_client_port_group' is incremented in
rds_tcp_conn_path_connect() without being initialized first:

    if (++tc->t_client_port_group >= port_groups)

Since kmem_cache_alloc() does not zero the memory, this field contains
garbage, leading to the KMSAN report.

Fix this by using kmem_cache_zalloc() to ensure the structure is
zero-initialized upon allocation.

826c1004d4 net/rds: rds_tcp_conn_path_shutdown must not discard messages
RDS/TCP differs from RDS/RDMA in that message acknowledgment
is done based on TCP sequence numbers:
As soon as the last byte of a message has been acknowledged by the
TCP stack of a peer, rds_tcp_write_space() goes on to discard
prior messages from the send queue.

Which is fine, for as long as the receiver never throws any messages
away.

The dequeuing of messages in RDS/TCP is done either from the
"sk_data_ready" callback pointing to rds_tcp_data_ready()
(the most common case), or from the receive worker pointing
to rds_tcp_recv_path() which is called for as long as the
connection is "RDS_CONN_UP".

However, as soon as rds_conn_path_drop() is called for whatever reason,
including "DR_USER_RESET", "cp_state" transitions to "RDS_CONN_ERROR",
and rds_tcp_restore_callbacks() ends up restoring the callbacks
and thereby disabling message receipt.

So messages already acknowledged to the sender were dropped.

Furthermore, the "->shutdown" callback was always called
with an invalid parameter ("RCV_SHUTDOWN | SEND_SHUTDOWN == 3"),
instead of the correct pre-increment value ("SHUT_RDWR == 2").
inet_shutdown() returns "-EINVAL" in such cases, rendering
this call a NOOP.

So we change rds_tcp_conn_path_shutdown() to do the proper
"->shutdown(SHUT_WR)" call in order to signal EOF to the peer
and make it transition to "TCP_CLOSE_WAIT" (RFC 793).

This should make the peer also enter rds_tcp_conn_path_shutdown()
and do the same.

This allows us to dequeue all messages already received
and acknowledged to the peer.
We do so, until we know that the receive queue no longer has data
(skb_queue_empty()) and that we couldn't have any data
in flight anymore, because the socket transitioned to
any of the states "CLOSING", "TIME_WAIT", "CLOSE_WAIT",
"LAST_ACK", or "CLOSE" (RFC 793).

However, if we do just that, we suddenly see duplicate RDS
messages being delivered to the application.
So what gives?

Turns out that with MPRDS and its multitude of backend connections,
retransmitted messages ("RDS_FLAG_RETRANSMITTED") can outrace
the dequeuing of their original counterparts.

And the duplicate check implemented in rds_recv_local() only
discards duplicates if flag "RDS_FLAG_RETRANSMITTED" is set.

Rather curious, because a duplicate is a duplicate; it shouldn't
matter which copy is looked at and delivered first.

To avoid this entire situation, we simply make the sender discard
messages from the send-queue right from within
rds_tcp_conn_path_shutdown().  Just like rds_tcp_write_space() would
have done, were it called in time or still called.

This makes sure that we no longer have messages that we know
the receiver already dequeued sitting in our send-queue,
and therefore avoid the entire "RDS_FLAG_RETRANSMITTED" fiasco.

Now we got rid of the duplicate RDS message delivery, but we
still run into cases where RDS messages are dropped.

This time it is due to the delayed setting of the socket-callbacks
in rds_tcp_accept_one() via either rds_tcp_reset_callbacks()
or rds_tcp_set_callbacks().

By the time rds_tcp_accept_one() gets there, the socket
may already have transitioned into state "TCP_CLOSE_WAIT",
but rds_tcp_state_change() was never called.

Subsequently, "->shutdown(SHUT_WR)" did not happen either.
So the peer ends up getting stuck in state "TCP_FIN_WAIT2".

We fix that by checking for states "TCP_CLOSE_WAIT", "TCP_LAST_ACK",
or "TCP_CLOSE" and drop the freshly accepted socket in that case.

This problem is observable by running "rds-stress --reset"
frequently on either of the two sides of a RDS connection,
or both while other "rds-stress" processes are exchanging data.
Those "rds-stress" processes reported out-of-sequence
errors, with the expected sequence number being smaller
than the one actually received (due to the dropped messages).

db69e9b838 net/rds: rds_tcp_accept_one ought to not discard messages
RDS/TCP differs from RDS/RDMA in that message acknowledgment
is done based on TCP sequence numbers:
As soon as the last byte of a message has been acknowledged
by the TCP stack of a peer, "rds_tcp_write_space()" goes on
to discard prior messages from the send queue.

Which is fine, for as long as the receiver never throws any messages away.

Unfortunately, that is *not* the case since the introduction of MPRDS:
commit 1a0e100fb2 "RDS: TCP: Enable multipath RDS for TCP"

A new function "rds_tcp_accept_one_path" was introduced,
which is entitled to return "NULL", if no connection path is currently
available.

Unfortunately, this happens after the "->accept()" call, and the new socket
often already contains messages, since the peer already transitioned
to "RDS_CONN_UP" on behalf of "TCP_ESTABLISHED".

That's also the case after this [1]:
commit 1a0e100fb2 "RDS: TCP: Force every connection to be initiated by
numerically smaller IP address"

which tried to address the situation of pending data by only transitioning
connections from a smaller IP address to "RDS_CONN_UP".

But even in those cases, and in particular if the "RDS_EXTHDR_NPATHS"
handshake has not occurred yet, and therefore we're working with
"c_npaths <= 1", "c_conn[0]" may be in a state distinct from
"RDS_CONN_DOWN", and therefore all messages on the just accepted socket
will be tossed away.

This fix changes "rds_tcp_accept_one":

* If connected from a peer with a larger IP address, the new socket
  will continue to get closed right away.
  With commit [1] above, there should not be any messages
  in the socket receive buffer, since the peer never transitioned
  to "RDS_CONN_UP".
  Therefore it should be okay to not make any efforts to dispatch
  the socket receive buffer.

* If connected from a peer with a smaller IP address,
  we call "rds_tcp_accept_one_path" to find a free slot/"path".
  If found, business goes on as usual.
  If none was found, we save/stash the newly accepted socket
  into "rds_tcp_accepted_sock", in order to not lose any
  messages that may have arrived already.
  We then return from "rds_tcp_accept_one" with "-ENOBUFS".
  Later on, when a slot/"path" does become available again
  (e.g. state transitioned to "RDS_CONN_DOWN",
   or HS extension header was received with "c_npaths > 1")
  we call "rds_tcp_conn_slots_available" that simply re-issues
  a "rds_tcp_accept_one_path" worker-callback and picks
  up the new socket from "rds_tcp_accepted_sock", and thereby
  continuing where it left with "-ENOBUFS" last time.
  Since a new slot has become available, those messages
  won't be lost, since processing proceeds as if that slot
  had been available the first time around.

5c70eb5c59 net: better track kernel sockets lifetime
While kernel sockets are dismantled during pernet_operations->exit(),
their freeing can be delayed by any tx packets still held in qdisc

To fix this, make sure that kernel sockets own a reference on net->passive.

Add sk_net_refcnt_upgrade() helper, used whenever a kernel socket
is converted to a refcounted one.

7f5611cbc4 rds: sysctl: rds_tcp_{rcv,snd}buf: avoid using current->nsproxy
As mentioned in a previous commit of this series, using the 'net'
structure via 'current' is not recommended for different reasons:

- Inconsistency: getting info from the reader's/writer's netns vs only
  from the opener's netns.

- current->nsproxy can be NULL in some cases, resulting in an 'Oops'
  (null-ptr-deref), e.g. when the current task is exiting, as spotted by
  syzbot [1] using acct(2).

The per-netns structure can be obtained from the table->data using
container_of(), then the 'net' one can be retrieved from the listen
socket (if available).

c899710fe7 networking: Update to register_net_sysctl_sz
Move from register_net_sysctl to register_net_sysctl_sz for all the
networking related files. Do this while making sure to mirror the NULL
assignments with a table_size of zero for the unprivileged users.

We need to move to the new function in preparation for when we change
SIZE_MAX to ARRAY_SIZE() in the register_net_sysctl macro. Failing to do
so would erroneously allow ARRAY_SIZE() to be called on a pointer. We
hold off the SIZE_MAX to ARRAY_SIZE change until we have migrated all
the relevant net sysctl registering functions to register_net_sysctl_sz
in subsequent commits.

An additional size function was added to the following files in order to
calculate the size of an array that is defined in another file:
    include/net/ipv6.h
    net/ipv6/icmp.c
    net/ipv6/route.c
    net/ipv6/sysctl_net_ipv6.c

0cafd77dcd net: add a refcount tracker for kernel sockets
Commit ffa84b5ffb ("net: add netns refcount tracker to struct sock")
added a tracker to sockets, but did not track kernel sockets.

We still have syzbot reports hinting about netns being destroyed
while some kernel TCP sockets had not been dismantled.

This patch tracks kernel sockets, and adds a ref_tracker_dir_print()
call to net_free() right before the netns is freed.

Normally, each layer is responsible for properly releasing its
kernel sockets before last call to net_free().

This debugging facility is enabled with CONFIG_NET_NS_REFCNT_TRACKER=y

6997fbd7a3 net: rds: use maybe_get_net() when acquiring refcount on TCP sockets
Eric Dumazet is reporting addition on 0 problem at rds_tcp_tune(), for
delayed works queued in rds_wq might be invoked after a net namespace's
refcount already reached 0.

Since rds_tcp_exit_net() from cleanup_net() calls flush_workqueue(rds_wq),
it is guaranteed that we can instead use maybe_get_net() from delayed work
functions until rds_tcp_exit_net() returns.

Note that I'm not convinced that all works which might access a net
namespace are already queued in rds_wq by the moment rds_tcp_exit_net()
calls flush_workqueue(rds_wq). If some race is there, rds_tcp_exit_net()
will fail to wait for work functions, and kmem_cache_free() could be
called from net_free() before maybe_get_net() is called from
rds_tcp_tune().

aced3ce57c RDS tcp loopback connection can hang
When TCP is used as transport and a program on the
system connects to RDS port 16385, connection is
accepted but denied per the rules of RDS. However,
RDS connections object is left in the list. Next
loopback connection will select that connection
object as it is at the head of list. The connection
attempt will hang as the connection object is set
to connect over TCP which is not allowed

The issue can be reproduced easily, use rds-ping
to ping a local IP address. After that use any
program like ncat to connect to the same IP
address and port 16385. This will hang so ctrl-c out.
Now try rds-ping, it will hang.

To fix the issue this patch adds checks to disallow
the connection object creation and destroys the
connection object.

cb66ddd156 net: rds: force to destroy connection if t_sock is NULL in rds_tcp_kill_sock().
When it is to cleanup net namespace, rds_tcp_exit_net() will call
rds_tcp_kill_sock(), if t_sock is NULL, it will not call
rds_conn_destroy(), rds_conn_path_destroy() and rds_tcp_conn_free() to free
connection, and the worker cp_conn_w is not stopped, afterwards the net is freed in
net_drop_ns(); While cp_conn_w rds_connect_worker() will call rds_tcp_conn_path_connect()
and reference 'net' which has already been freed.

In rds_tcp_conn_path_connect(), rds_tcp_set_callbacks() will set t_sock = sock before
sock->ops->connect, but if connect() is failed, it will call
rds_tcp_restore_callbacks() and set t_sock = NULL, if connect is always
failed, rds_connect_worker() will try to reconnect all the time, so
rds_tcp_kill_sock() will never to cancel worker cp_conn_w and free the
connections.

Therefore, the condition !tc->t_sock is not needed if it is going to do
cleanup_net->rds_tcp_exit_net->rds_tcp_kill_sock, because tc->t_sock is always
NULL, and there is on other path to cancel cp_conn_w and free
connection. So this patch is to fix this.

b7ff8b1036 rds: Extend RDS API for IPv6 support
There are many data structures (RDS socket options) used by RDS apps
which use a 32 bit integer to store IP address. To support IPv6,
struct in6_addr needs to be used. To ensure backward compatibility, a
new data structure is introduced for each of those data structures
which use a 32 bit integer to represent an IP address. And new socket
options are introduced to use those new structures. This means that
existing apps should work without a problem with the new RDS module.
For apps which want to use IPv6, those new data structures and socket
options can be used. IPv4 mapped address is used to represent IPv4
address in the new data structures.

1e2b44e78e rds: Enable RDS IPv6 support
This patch enables RDS to use IPv6 addresses. For RDS/TCP, the
listener is now an IPv6 endpoint which accepts both IPv4 and IPv6
connection requests. RDS/RDMA/IB uses a private data (struct
rds_ib_connect_private) exchange between endpoints at RDS connection
establishment time to support RDMA. This private data exchange uses a
32 bit integer to represent an IP address. This needs to be changed in
order to support IPv6. A new private data struct
rds6_ib_connect_private is introduced to handle this. To ensure
backward compatibility, an IPv6 capable RDS stack uses another RDMA
listener port (RDS_CM_PORT) to accept IPv6 connection. And it
continues to use the original RDS_PORT for IPv4 RDS connections. When
it needs to communicate with an IPv6 peer, it uses the RDS_CM_PORT to
send the connection set up request.

Before:
All these functions either return a negative error indicator,
or store length of sockaddr into "int *socklen" parameter
and return zero on success.

"int *socklen" parameter is awkward. For example, if caller does not
care, it still needs to provide on-stack storage for the value
it does not need.

None of the many FOO_getname() functions of various protocols
ever used old value of *socklen. They always just overwrite it.

This change drops this parameter, and makes all these functions, on success,
return length of sockaddr. It's always >= 0 and can be differentiated
from an error.

Tests in callers are changed from "if (err)" to "if (err < 0)", where needed.

rpc_sockname() lost "int buflen" parameter, since its only use was
to be passed to kernel_getsockname() as &buflen and subsequently
not used in any way.

Userspace API is not changed.

ebeeb1ad9b rds: tcp: use rds_destroy_pending() to synchronize netns/module teardown and rds connection/workq management
An rds_connection can get added during netns deletion between lines 528
and 529 of

  506 static void rds_tcp_kill_sock(struct net *net)
  :
  /* code to pull out all the rds_connections that should be destroyed */
  :
  528         spin_unlock_irq(&rds_tcp_conn_lock);
  529         list_for_each_entry_safe(tc, _tc, &tmp_list, t_tcp_node)
  530                 rds_conn_destroy(tc->t_cpath->cp_conn);

Such an rds_connection would miss out the rds_conn_destroy()
loop (that cancels all pending work) and (if it was scheduled
after netns deletion) could trigger the use-after-free.

A similar race-window exists for the module unload path
in rds_tcp_exit -> rds_tcp_destroy_conns

Concurrency with netns deletion (rds_tcp_kill_sock()) must be handled
by checking check_net() before enqueuing new work or adding new
connections.

Concurrency with module-unload is handled by maintaining a module
specific flag that is set at the start of the module exit function,
and must be checked before enqueuing new work or adding new connections.

This commit refactors existing RDS_DESTROY_PENDING checks added by
commit 3db6e0d172 ("rds: use RCU to synchronize work-enqueue with
connection teardown") and consolidates all the concurrency checks
listed above into the function rds_destroy_pending().

f10b4cff98 rds: tcp: atomically purge entries from rds_tcp_conn_list during netns delete
The rds_tcp_kill_sock() function parses the rds_tcp_conn_list
to find the rds_connection entries marked for deletion as part
of the netns deletion under the protection of the rds_tcp_conn_lock.
Since the rds_tcp_conn_list tracks rds_tcp_connections (which
have a 1:1 mapping with rds_conn_path), multiple tc entries in
the rds_tcp_conn_list will map to a single rds_connection, and will
be deleted as part of the rds_conn_destroy() operation that is
done outside the rds_tcp_conn_lock.

The rds_tcp_conn_list traversal done under the protection of
rds_tcp_conn_lock should not leave any doomed tc entries in
the list after the rds_tcp_conn_lock is released, else another
concurrently executiong netns delete (for a differnt netns) thread
may trip on these entries.

681648e67d rds: tcp: correctly sequence cleanup on netns deletion.
Commit 8edc3affc0 ("rds: tcp: Take explicit refcounts on struct net")
introduces a regression in rds-tcp netns cleanup. The cleanup_net(),
(and thus rds_tcp_dev_event notification) is only called from put_net()
when all netns refcounts go to 0, but this cannot happen if the
rds_connection itself is holding a c_net ref that it expects to
release in rds_tcp_kill_sock.

Instead, the rds_tcp_kill_sock callback should make sure to
tear down state carefully, ensuring that the socket teardown
is only done after all data-structures and workqs that depend
on it are quiesced.

The original motivation for commit 8edc3affc0 ("rds: tcp: Take explicit
refcounts on struct net") was to resolve a race condition reported by
syzkaller where workqs for tx/rx/connect were triggered after the
namespace was deleted. Those worker threads should have been
cancelled/flushed before socket tear-down and indeed,
rds_conn_path_destroy() does try to sequence this by doing
     /* cancel cp_send_w */
     /* cancel cp_recv_w */
     /* flush cp_down_w */
     /* free data structures */
Here the "flush cp_down_w" will trigger rds_conn_shutdown and thus
invoke rds_tcp_conn_path_shutdown() to close the tcp socket, so that
we ought to have satisfied the requirement that "socket-close is
done after all other dependent state is quiesced". However,
rds_conn_shutdown has a bug in that it *always* triggers the reconnect
workq (and if connection is successful, we always restart tx/rx
workqs so with the right timing, we risk the race conditions reported
by syzkaller).

Netns deletion is like module teardown- no need to restart a
reconnect in this case. We can use the c_destroy_in_prog bit
to avoid restarting the reconnect.
