4e1d77a8f3 folio_batch: rename pagevec.h to folio_batch.h
struct pagevec was removed in commit 1e0877d58b ("mm: remove struct
pagevec"). Rename include/linux/pagevec.h to reflect reality and update
includes tree-wide. Add the new filename to MAINTAINERS explicitly, as it
no longer matches the "include/linux/page[-_]*" pattern in MEMORY
MANAGEMENT - CORE.

7288185ce8 gfs2: less aggressive low-memory log flushing
It turns out that for some workloads, the fix in commit b74cd55aa9
("gfs2: low-memory forced flush fixes") causes the number of forced log
flushes to increase to a degree that the overall filesystem performance
drops significantly. Address that by forcing a log flush only when
gfs2_writepages cannot make any progress rather than when it cannot make
"enough" progress.

Merge tag 'vfs-6.19-rc1.folio' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/vfs/vfs

Pull folio updates from Christian Brauner:
 "Add a new folio_next_pos() helper function that returns the file
  position of the first byte after the current folio. This is a common
  operation in filesystems when needing to know the end of the current
  folio.

  The helper is lifted from btrfs which already had its own version, and
  is now used across multiple filesystems and subsystems:
   - btrfs
   - buffer
   - ext4
   - f2fs
   - gfs2
   - iomap
   - netfs
   - xfs
   - mm

  This fixes a long-standing bug in ocfs2 on 32-bit systems with files
  larger than 2GiB. Presumably this is not a common configuration, but
  the fix is backported anyway. The other filesystems did not have bugs,
  they were just mildly inefficient.

  This also introduce uoff_t as the unsigned version of loff_t. A recent
  commit inadvertently changed a comparison from being unsigned (on
  64-bit systems) to being signed (which it had always been on 32-bit
  systems), leading to sporadic fstests failures.

  Generally file sizes are restricted to being a signed integer, but in
  places where -1 is passed to indicate "up to the end of the file", it
  is convenient to have an unsigned type to ensure comparisons are
  always unsigned regardless of architecture"

Merge tag 'vfs-6.19-rc1.writeback' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/vfs/vfs

Pull writeback updates from Christian Brauner:
 "Features:

   - Allow file systems to increase the minimum writeback chunk size.

     The relatively low minimal writeback size of 4MiB means that
     written back inodes on rotational media are switched a lot. Besides
     introducing additional seeks, this also can lead to extreme file
     fragmentation on zoned devices when a lot of files are cached
     relative to the available writeback bandwidth.

     This adds a superblock field that allows the file system to
     override the default size, and sets it to the zone size for zoned
     XFS.

   - Add logging for slow writeback when it exceeds
     sysctl_hung_task_timeout_secs. This helps identify tasks waiting
     for a long time and pinpoint potential issues. Recording the
     starting jiffies is also useful when debugging a crashed vmcore.

   - Wake up waiting tasks when finishing the writeback of a chunk

  Cleanups:

   - filemap_* writeback interface cleanups.

     Adding filemap_fdatawrite_wbc ended up being a mistake, as all but
     the original btrfs caller should be using better high level
     interfaces instead.

     This series removes all these low-level interfaces, switches btrfs
     to a more specific interface, and cleans up other too low-level
     interfaces. With this the writeback_control that is passed to the
     writeback code is only initialized in three places.

   - Remove __filemap_fdatawrite, __filemap_fdatawrite_range, and
     filemap_fdatawrite_wbc

   - Add filemap_flush_nr helper for btrfs

   - Push struct writeback_control into start_delalloc_inodes in btrfs

   - Rename filemap_fdatawrite_range_kick to filemap_flush_range

   - Stop opencoding filemap_fdatawrite_range in 9p, ocfs2, and mm

   - Make wbc_to_tag() inline and use it in fs"

* tag 'vfs-6.19-rc1.writeback' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/vfs/vfs:

iomap: add caller-provided callbacks for read and readahead
Add caller-provided callbacks for read and readahead so that it can be
used generically, especially by filesystems that are not block-based.

In particular, this:
* Modifies the read and readahead interface to take in a
  struct iomap_read_folio_ctx that is publicly defined as:

  struct iomap_read_folio_ctx {
	const struct iomap_read_ops *ops;
	struct folio *cur_folio;
	struct readahead_control *rac;
	void *read_ctx;
  };

  where struct iomap_read_ops is defined as:

  struct iomap_read_ops {
      int (*read_folio_range)(const struct iomap_iter *iter,
                             struct iomap_read_folio_ctx *ctx,
                             size_t len);
      void (*read_submit)(struct iomap_read_folio_ctx *ctx);
  };

  read_folio_range() reads in the folio range and is required by the
  caller to provide. read_submit() is optional and is used for
  submitting any pending read requests.

* Modifies existing filesystems that use iomap for read and readahead to
  use the new API, through the new statically inlined helpers
  iomap_bio_read_folio() and iomap_bio_readahead(). There is no change
  in functionality for those filesystems.

5a90f8d499 gfs2: Don't start unnecessary transactions during log flush
Commit 8d391972ae ("gfs2: Remove __gfs2_writepage()") changed the log
flush code in gfs2_ail1_start_one() to call aops->writepages() instead
of aops->writepage(). For jdata inodes, this means that we will now try
to reserve log space and start a transaction before we can determine
that the pages in question have already been journaled. When this
happens in the context of gfs2_logd(), it can now appear that not enough
log space is available for freeing up log space, and we will lock up.

Fix that by issuing journal writes directly instead of going through
aops->writepages() in the log flush code.

14059f66a9 fs: remove the bh_end_io argument from __block_write_full_folio
All callers are passing end_buffer_async_write as this argument, so we can

In gfs2_write_jdata_batch(), to compute the number of blocks, compute

Note that we don't currently allow mounting filesystems with a block
size bigger than the page size. We could change that after converting
the page cache to folios. The page cache would then only contain
block-size or bigger folios, so rounding wouldn't become an issue here.

b74cd55aa9 gfs2: low-memory forced flush fixes
First, function gfs2_ail_flush_reqd checks the SDF_FORCE_AIL_FLUSH flag
to determine if an AIL flush should be forced in low-memory situations.
However, it also immediately clears the flag, and when called repeatedly
as in function gfs2_logd, the flag will be lost. Fix that by pulling
the SDF_FORCE_AIL_FLUSH flag check out of gfs2_ail_flush_reqd.

Second, function gfs2_writepages sets the SDF_FORCE_AIL_FLUSH flag
whether or not enough pages were written. If enough pages could be
written, flushing the AIL is unnecessary, though.

Third, gfs2_writepages doesn't wake up logd after setting the
SDF_FORCE_AIL_FLUSH flag, so it can take a long time for logd to react.
It would be preferable to wake up logd, but that hurts the performance
of some workloads and we don't quite understand why so far, so don't
wake up logd so far.

4ce02c6797 iomap: Add per-block dirty state tracking to improve performance
When filesystem blocksize is less than folio size (either with
mapping_large_folio_support() or with blocksize < pagesize) and when the
folio is uptodate in pagecache, then even a byte write can cause
an entire folio to be written to disk during writeback. This happens
because we currently don't have a mechanism to track per-block dirty
state within struct iomap_folio_state. We currently only track uptodate
state.

This patch implements support for tracking per-block dirty state in
iomap_folio_state->state bitmap. This should help improve the filesystem
write performance and help reduce write amplification.

Performance testing of below fio workload reveals ~16x performance
improvement using nvme with XFS (4k blocksize) on Power (64K pagesize)
FIO reported write bw scores improved from around ~28 MBps to ~452 MBps.

1. <test_randwrite.fio>

	rw=randwrite
	overwrite=1

58721bd46c gfs2: Replace deprecated kmap_atomic with kmap_local_page
kmap_atomic() is deprecated in favor of kmap_local_{folio,page}().

Therefore, replace kmap_atomic() with kmap_local_page() in
gfs2_internal_read() and stuffed_readpage().

kmap_atomic() disables page-faults and preemption (the latter only for
!PREEMPT_RT kernels), However, the code within the mapping/un-mapping in
gfs2_internal_read() and stuffed_readpage() does not depend on the
above-mentioned side effects.

Therefore, a mere replacement of the old API with the new one is all that

c0ba597db9 gfs2: use a folio inside gfs2_jdata_writepage()
Patch series "gfs2/buffer folio changes for 6.5", v3.

This kind of started off as a gfs2 patch series, then became entwined with
buffer heads once I realised that gfs2 was the only remaining caller of
__block_write_full_page(). For those not in the gfs2 world, the big point
of this series is that block_write_full_page() should now handle large
folios correctly.

This patch (of 14):

Replace a few implicit calls to compound_head() with one explicit one.

The ->writepage() and ->writepages() operations are supposed to write

Check if the inode size of stuffed (inline) inodes is within the allowed

The two checks in stuffed_readpage() and gfs2_unstuffer_page() that just
truncate inline data to the maximum allowed size don't actually make
sense, and they can be removed now as well.
