d141f087b1 s390/qeth: validate user buffer length in SNMP and ARP query ioctls
qeth_snmp_command() and qeth_l3_arp_query() allocate a buffer sized by
a user-supplied length (udata_len) without checking a lower bound, then
set udata_offset to a fixed non-zero value and pass both to a reply
callback. The callback bounds-checks the copy with

        if ((udata_len - udata_offset) < len)

Both fields are u32, so a udata_len smaller than udata_offset makes the
subtraction wrap and the check pass, and the following memcpy() writes
past the allocation. A udata_len of 0 also yields ZERO_SIZE_PTR from
kzalloc(), which the existing NULL check does not catch.

Reject buffers smaller than udata_offset before allocating, so the
callback subtraction can no longer underflow.

b85966adbf Networking changes for 7.2.
Core & protocols
 ----------------

  - Work on removing rtnl_lock protection throughout the stack continues.
    In this chapter:
     - don't use rtnl_lock for IPv6 multicast routing configuration
     - don't take rtnl_lock in ethtool for modern drivers
     - prepare Qdisc dump callbacks for rtnl_lock removal

  - Support dumping just ifindex + name of all interfaces, under RCU.
It's a common operation for Netlink CLI tools (when translating
names to ifindexes) and previously required full rtnl_lock.

  - Support dumping qdiscs and page pools for a specific netdev. Even tho
user space wants a dump of all netdevs, most of the time, the OOO
programming model results in repeating the dump for each netdev.
Which, in absence of a cache, leads to a O(n^2) behavior.

  - Flush nexthops once on multi-nexthop removal (e.g. when device goes
    down), another O(n^2) -> O(n) improvement.

  - Rehash locally generated traffic to a different nexthop on retransmit
    timeout.

  - Honor oif when choosing nexthop for locally generated IPv6 traffic.

  - Convert TCP Auth Option to crypto library, and drop non-RFC algos.

  - Increase subflow limits in MPTCP to 64 and endpoint limit to 256.

  - Support MPTCP signaling of IPv6 address + port (ADD_ADDR). We need
to selectively skip reporting of the standard TCP Timestamp option,
    because they won't fit into the header space together (12 + 30 > 40).

  - Support using bridge neighbor suppression, Duplicate Address
Detection, Gratuitous ARP and unsolicited NA forwarding - in EVPN
    deployments, e.g. VXLAN fabrics (IPv4 and IPv6).

  - Improve link state reporting for upper netdevs (e.g. macvlan) over
tunnel devices (again, mostly for EVPN deployments).

  - Support binding GENEVE tunnels to a local address.

  - Speed up UDP tunnel destruction (remove one synchronize_rcu()).

  - Support exponential field encoding in multicast (IGMPv3 and MLDv2).

  - Support attaching PSP crypto offload to containers (veth, netkit).

  - Add a new IPSec Netlink message XFRM_MSG_MIGRATE_STATE that allows
migrating individual IPsec SAs independently of their policies.
The existing XFRM_MSG_MIGRATE is tightly coupled to policy+SA
migration, lacks SPI for unique SA identification, and cannot express
reqid changes or migrate Transport mode selectors. The new interface
identifies the SA via SPI and mark, supports reqid changes, address
family changes, encap removal, and uses an atomic create+install
flow under x->lock to prevent SN/IV reuse during AEAD SA migration.

  - Implement GRO/GSO support for PPPoE.

  - Convert sockopt callbacks in a number of protocols to iov_iter.

 Cross-tree stuff
 ----------------

  - Remove support for Crypto TFM cloning (unblocked after the TCP Auth
Option rework). This feature regressed performance for all crypto API
users, since it changed crypto transformation objects into reference-
    -counted objects.

  - Add FCrypt-PCBC implementation to rxrpc and remove it from the global
crypto API as obsolete and insecure.

 Wireless
 --------

  - Major rework of station bandwidth handling, fixing issues with lower
    capability than AP.

  - Cleanups for EMLSR spec issues (drafts differed).

  - More Neighbor Awareness Networking (Wi-Fi Aware) work (multicast,
    schedule improvements, multi-station etc.)

  - Some Ultra High Reliability (UHR) / IEEE 802.11bn (D1.4) work
(e.g. non-primary channel access, UHR DBE support).

  - Fine Timing Measurement ranging (i.e. distance measurement) APIs.

 Netfilter
 ---------

  - Use per-rule hash initval in nf_conncount. This avoids unnecessary
lock contention with short keys (e.g. conntrack zones) in different
    namespaces.

  - Various safety improvements, both in packet parsing and object
lifetimes. Notably add refcounts to conntrack timeout policy.

 Deletions
 ---------

  - Remove TLS + sockmap integration. TLS wants to pin user pages
to avoid a copy, and sockmap wants to write to the input stream.
More work on this integration is clearly needed, and we can't find
any users (original author admitted that they never deployed it).

  - Remove support for TLS offload with TCP Offload Engine (the far
more common opportunistic offload is retained). The locking looks
unfixable (driver sleeps under TCP spin locks) and people from
the vendor that added this are AWOL.

  - Remove more ATM code, trying to leave behind only what PPPoATM needs,
AAL5 and br2684 with permanent circuits.

  - Remove AppleTalk. Let it join hamradio in our out of tree protocol
    graveyard, I mean, repository.

  - Disable 32-bit x_tables compatibility (32bit binaries on 64bit kernel)
interface in user namespaces. To be deleted completely, soon.

  - Remove 5/10 MHz support from cfg80211/mac80211.

This buffer can be allocated with kmalloc() as there's nothing special
about it to go directly to the page allocator.

kmalloc() provides a better API that does not require ugly casts and
kfree() does not need to know the size of the freed object.

Performance difference between kmalloc() and __get_free_pages() is not
measurable as both allocators take an object/page from a per-CPU list for
fast path allocations.

For the slow path the performance is anyway determined by the amount of
reclaim involved rather than by what allocator is used.

Replace use of get_zeroed_page() with kzalloc() and free_page() with
kfree().

18b9f739d3 s390/ism: Drop superfluous zeros in pci_device_id array
The .driver_data member of the struct pci_device_id array were
initialized by a list expressions to zero without making use of that
value. In this case it's better to not specify a value at all and let
the compiler fill in the zeros. Same for the list terminator that can
better be completely empty.

This patch doesn't introduce changes to the compiled array.

bf4afc53b7 Convert 'alloc_obj' family to use the new default GFP_KERNEL argument
This was done entirely with mindless brute force, using

    git grep -l '\<k[vmz]*alloc_objs*(.*, GFP_KERNEL)' |
        xargs sed -i 's/\(alloc_objs*(.*\), GFP_KERNEL)/\1)/'

to convert the new alloc_obj() users that had a simple GFP_KERNEL
argument to just drop that argument.

Note that due to the extreme simplicity of the scripting, any slightly
more complex cases spread over multiple lines would not be triggered:
they definitely exist, but this covers the vast bulk of the cases, and
the resulting diff is also then easier to check automatically.

For the same reason the 'flex' versions will be done as a separate
conversion.

69050f8d6d treewide: Replace kmalloc with kmalloc_obj for non-scalar types
This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from
scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. The script is designed to
avoid scalar types (which need careful case-by-case checking), and
instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union
object instances:

Single allocations:	kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...)

Array allocations:	kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...)

Flex array allocations:	kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...)

(where TYPE may also be *VAR)

The resulting allocations no longer return "void *", instead returning
"TYPE *".

Core & protocols
 ----------------

  - Replace busylock at the Tx queuing layer with a lockless list. Resulting
in a 300% (4x) improvement on heavy TX workloads, sending twice the
number of packets per second, for half the cpu cycles.

  - Allow constantly busy flows to migrate to a more suitable CPU/NIC
queue. Normally we perform queue re-selection when flow comes out
of idle, but under extreme circumstances the flows may be constantly
busy. Add sysctl to allow periodic rehashing even if it'd risk packet
    reordering.

  - Optimize the NAPI skb cache, make it larger, use it in more paths.

  - Attempt returning Tx skbs to the originating CPU (like we already did
    for Rx skbs).

c3d17464f0 s390: Remove KMSG_COMPONENT macro
The KMSG_COMPONENT macro is a leftover of the s390 specific "kernel
message catalog" which never made it upstream.

Remove the macro in order to get rid of a pointless indirection. Replace
all users with the string it defines. In almost all cases this leads to a
simple replacement like this:

 - #define KMSG_COMPONENT "appldata"
 - #define pr_fmt(fmt) KMSG_COMPONENT ": " fmt
 + #define pr_fmt(fmt) "appldata: " fmt

Except for some special cases this is just mechanical/scripted work.

53e58437b4 s390/qeth: Handle ambiguous OSA RCs in s390dbf
OSA Express defines a number of return codes whose meaning is determined
by the issuing command, making them ambiguous. The important ones are
reported as debug messages through the s390 debug feature.

The qeth driver currently does not take the issuing command into account
when interpreting the return code which sometimes leads to incorrect
debug messages.

produce as it can be helpful for debugging purposes.

Introduces a generic 'struct dibs_event' and adopt ism device driver

cc21191b58 dibs: Move data path to dibs layer
Use struct dibs_dmb instead of struct smc_dmb and move the corresponding
client tables to dibs_dev. Leave driver specific implementation details
like sba in the device drivers.

Register and unregister dmbs via dibs_dev_ops. A dmb is dedicated to a
single client, but a dibs device can have dmbs for more than one client.

Trigger dibs clients via dibs_client_ops->handle_irq(), when data is
received into a dmb. For dibs_loopback replace scheduling an smcd receive
tasklet with calling dibs_client_ops->handle_irq().

For loopback devices attach_dmb(), detach_dmb() and move_data() need to
access the dmb tables, so move those to dibs_dev_ops in this patch as well.

Remove remaining definitions of smc_loopback as they are no longer
required, now that everything is in dibs_loopback.

Note that struct ism_client and struct ism_dev are still required in smc
until a follow-on patch moves event handling to dibs. (Loopback does not
use events).

92a0f7bb08 dibs: Move vlan support to dibs_dev_ops
It can be debated how much benefit definition of vlan ids for dibs devices
brings, as the dmbs are accessible only by a single peer anyhow. But ism

optional feature.

smcd_loopback simply ignores all vlan settings, do the same in

05e68d8ded dibs: Local gid for dibs devices
Define a uuid_t GID attribute to identify a dibs device.

SMC uses 64 Bit and 128 Bit Global Identifiers (GIDs) per device, that
need to be sent via the SMC protocol. Because the smc code uses integers,
network endianness and host endianness need to be considered. Avoid this
in the dibs layer by using uuid_t byte arrays. Future patches could change
SMC to use uuid_t. For now conversion helper functions are introduced.

ISM devices provide 64 Bit GIDs. Map them to dibs uuid_t GIDs like this:
 _________________________________________
| 64 Bit ISM-vPCI GID | 00000000_00000000 |
 -----------------------------------------
If interpreted as UUID [1], this would be interpreted as the UIID variant,
that is reserved for NCS backward compatibility. So it will not collide
with UUIDs that were generated according to the standard.

smc_loopback already uses version 4 UUIDs as 128 Bit GIDs, move that to
dibs loopback. A temporary change to smc_lo_query_rgid() is required,
that will be moved to dibs_loopback with a follow-on patch.

Provide gid of a dibs device as sysfs read-only attribute.

8047373498 dibs: Create class dibs
Create '/sys/class/dibs' to represent multiple kinds of dibs devices in
sysfs. Show s390/ism devices as well as dibs_loopback devices.

Show attribute fabric_id using dibs_ops.get_fabric_id(). This can help
users understand which dibs devices are connected to the same fabric in
different systems and which dibs devices are loopback devices
(fabric_id 0xffff)

Instead of using the same name as the pci device, give the ism devices
their own readable names based on uid or fid from the HW definition.

smc_loopback was never visible in sysfs. dibs_loopback is now represented
as a virtual device.

For the SMC feature "software defined pnet-id" either the ib device name or
the PCI-ID (actually the parent device name) can be used for SMC-R entries.
Mimic this behaviour for SMC-D, and check the parent device name as well.
So device name or PCI-ID can be used for ism and device name can be used
for dibs-loopback. Note that this:
IB_DEVICE_NAME_MAX - 1 == smc_pnet_policy.[SMC_PNETID_IBNAME].len
is the length of smcd_name. Future SW-pnetid cleanup patches to could use a
meaningful define, but that would touch too much unrelated code here.

Replace smcd->ops->get_dev(smcd) by using dibs->dev directly.

An alternative design would be to embed dibs_dev as a field in ism_dev and
do the same for other dibs device driver specific structs. However that
would have the disadvantage that each dibs device driver needs to allocate
dibs_dev and each dibs device driver needs a different device release

69baaac936 dibs: Define dibs_client_ops and dibs_dev_ops
Move the device add() and remove() functions from ism_client to
dibs_client_ops and call add_dev()/del_dev() for ism devices and
dibs_loopback devices. dibs_client_ops->add_dev() = smcd_register_dev() for
the smc_dibs_client. This is the first step to handle ism and loopback
devices alike (as dibs devices) in the smc dibs client.

Define dibs_dev->ops and move smcd_ops->get_chid to
dibs_dev_ops->get_fabric_id() for ism and loopback devices. See below for
why this needs to be in the same patch as dibs_client_ops->add_dev().

The following changes contain intermediate steps, that will be obsoleted by
follow-on patches, once more functionality has been moved to dibs:

Use different smcd_ops and max_dmbs for ism and loopback. Follow-on patches
will change SMC-D to directly use dibs_ops instead of smcd_ops.

In smcd_register_dev() it is now necessary to identify a dibs_loopback
device before smcd_dev and smcd_ops->get_chid() are available. So provide
dibs_dev_ops->get_fabric_id() in this patch and evaluate it in
smc_ism_is_loopback().

Call smc_loopback_init() in smcd_register_dev() and call
smc_loopback_exit() in smcd_unregister_dev() to handle the functionality
that is still in smc_loopback. Follow-on patches will move all smc_loopback
code to dibs_loopback.

In smcd_[un]register_dev() use only ism device name, this will be replaced
by dibs device name by a follow-on patch.

End of changes with intermediate parts.

Allocate an smcd event workqueue for all dibs devices, although
dibs_loopback does not generate events.

Use kernel memory instead of devres memory for smcd_dev and smcd->conn.
Since commit a72178cfe8 ("net/smc: Fix dependency of SMC on ISM") an ism
device and its driver can have a longer lifetime than the smc module, so
smc should not rely on devres to free its resources [1]. It is now the
responsibility of the smc client to free smcd and smcd->conn for all dibs
devices, ism devices as well as loopback. Call client->ops->del_dev() for
all existing dibs devices in dibs_unregister_client(), so all device
related structures can be freed in the client.

When dibs_unregister_client() is called in the context of smc_exit() or
smc_core_reboot_event(), these functions have already called
smc_lgrs_shutdown() which calls smc_smcd_terminate_all(smcd) and sets
going_away. This is done a second time in smcd_unregister_dev(). This is
analogous to how smcr is handled in these functions, by calling first
smc_lgrs_shutdown() and then smc_ib_unregister_client() >
smc_ib_remove_dev(), so leave it that way. It may be worth investigating,
whether smc_lgrs_shutdown() is still required or useful.

Remove CONFIG_SMC_LO. CONFIG_DIBS_LO now controls whether a dibs loopback
device exists or not.

884eee8e43 net/smc: Remove error handling of unregister_dmb()
smcd_buf_free() calls smc_ism_unregister_dmb(lgr->smcd, buf_desc) and
then unconditionally frees buf_desc.

Remove the cleaning up of fields of buf_desc in
smc_ism_unregister_dmb(), because it is not helpful.

This removes the only usage of ISM_ERROR from the smc module. So move it
to drivers/s390/net/ism.h.

8be4d31cb8 Networking changes for 6.17.
Core & protocols
 ----------------

  - Wrap datapath globals into net_aligned_data, to avoid false sharing.

  - Preserve MSG_ZEROCOPY in forwarding (e.g. out of a container).

  - Add SO_INQ and SCM_INQ support to AF_UNIX.

  - Add SIOCINQ support to AF_VSOCK.

  - Add TCP_MAXSEG sockopt to MPTCP.

  - Add IPv6 force_forwarding sysctl to enable forwarding per interface.

  - Make TCP validation of whether packet fully fits in the receive
window and the rcv_buf more strict. With increased use of HW
aggregation a single "packet" can be multiple 100s of kB.

  - Add MSG_MORE flag to optimize large TCP transmissions via sockmap,
improves latency up to 33% for sockmap users.

  - Convert TCP send queue handling from tasklet to BH workque.

  - Improve BPF iteration over TCP sockets to see each socket exactly once.

  - Remove obsolete and unused TCP RFC3517/RFC6675 loss recovery code.

  - Support enabling kernel threads for NAPI processing on per-NAPI
instance basis rather than a whole device. Fully stop the kernel NAPI
thread when threaded NAPI gets disabled. Previously thread would stick
around until ifdown due to tricky synchronization.

  - Allow multicast routing to take effect on locally-generated packets.

  - Add output interface argument for End.X in segment routing.

  - MCTP: add support for gateway routing, improve bind() handling.

  - Don't require rtnl_lock when fetching an IPv6 neighbor over Netlink.

  - Add a new neighbor flag ("extern_valid"), which cedes refresh
responsibilities to userspace. This is needed for EVPN multi-homing
where a neighbor entry for a multi-homed host needs to be synced
across all the VTEPs among which the host is multi-homed.

  - Support NUD_PERMANENT for proxy neighbor entries.

  - Add a new queuing discipline for IETF RFC9332 DualQ Coupled AQM.

  - Add sequence numbers to netconsole messages. Unregister netconsole's
console when all net targets are removed. Code refactoring.
    Add a number of selftests.

  - Align IPSec inbound SA lookup to RFC 4301. Only SPI and protocol
should be used for an inbound SA lookup.

  - Support inspecting ref_tracker state via DebugFS.

  - Don't force bonding advertisement frames tx to ~333 ms boundaries.
Add broadcast_neighbor option to send ARP/ND on all bonded links.

  - Allow providing upcall pid for the 'execute' command in openvswitch.

  - Remove DCCP support from Netfilter's conntrack.

  - Disallow multiple packet duplications in the queuing layer.

  - Prevent use of deprecated iptables code on PREEMPT_RT.

 Driver API
 ----------

  - Support RSS and hashing configuration over ethtool Netlink.

  - Add dedicated ethtool callbacks for getting and setting hashing fields.

  - Add support for power budget evaluation strategy in PSE /
Power-over-Ethernet. Generate Netlink events for overcurrent etc.

  - Support DPLL phase offset monitoring across all device inputs.
Support providing clock reference and SYNC over separate DPLL
    inputs.

  - Support traffic classes in devlink rate API for bandwidth management.

  - Remove rtnl_lock dependency from UDP tunnel port configuration.

bc46b7cbc5 s390 updates for 6.17 merge window
- Standardize on the __ASSEMBLER__ macro that is provided by GCC
and Clang compilers and replace __ASSEMBLY__ with __ASSEMBLER__
in both uapi and non-uapi headers

 - Explicitly include <linux/export.h> in architecture and driver
files which contain an EXPORT_SYMBOL() and remove the include
from the files which do not contain the EXPORT_SYMBOL()

 - Use the full title of "z/Architecture Principles of Operation"
manual and the name of a section where facility bits are listed

 - Use -D__DISABLE_EXPORTS for files in arch/s390/boot to avoid
unnecessary slowing down of the build and confusing external
kABI tools that process symtypes data

 - Print additional unrecoverable machine check information to make
   the root cause analysis easier

 - Move cmpxchg_user_key() handling to uaccess library code, since
the generated code is large anyway and there is no benefit if it
   is inlined

 - Fix a problem when cmpxchg_user_key() is executing a code with a
non-default key: if a system is IPL-ed with "LOAD NORMAL", and
the previous system used storage keys where the fetch-protection
bit was set for some pages, and the cmpxchg_user_key() is located
within such page, a protection exception happens

 - Either the external call or emergency signal order is used to send
an IPI to a remote CPU. Use the external order only, since it is at
least as good and sometimes even better, than the emergency signal

 - In case of an early crash the early program check handler prints
more or less random value of the last breaking event address, since
it is not initialized properly. Copy the last breaking event address
from the lowcore to pt_regs to address this

 - During STP synchronization check udelay() can not be used, since the
first CPU modifies tod_clock_base and get_tod_clock_monotonic() might
return a non-monotonic time. Instead, busy-loop on other CPUs, while
the the first CPU actually handles the synchronization operation

 - When debugging the early kernel boot using QEMU with the -S flag and
GDB attached, skip the decompressor and start directly in kernel

 - Rename PAI Crypto event 4210 according to z16 and z17 "z/Architecture
   Principles of Operation" manual

 - Remove the in-kernel time steering support in favour of the new s390
PTP driver, which allows the kernel clock steered more precisely

 - Remove a possible false-positive warning in pte_free_defer(), which
could be triggered in a valid case KVM guest process is initializing

Pull s390 updates from Alexander Gordeev:

 - Standardize on the __ASSEMBLER__ macro that is provided by GCC and
Clang compilers and replace __ASSEMBLY__ with __ASSEMBLER__ in both
   uapi and non-uapi headers

 - Explicitly include <linux/export.h> in architecture and driver files
which contain an EXPORT_SYMBOL() and remove the include from the
files which do not contain the EXPORT_SYMBOL()

 - Use the full title of "z/Architecture Principles of Operation" manual
and the name of a section where facility bits are listed

 - Use -D__DISABLE_EXPORTS for files in arch/s390/boot to avoid
unnecessary slowing down of the build and confusing external kABI
   tools that process symtypes data

 - Print additional unrecoverable machine check information to make the
   root cause analysis easier

 - Move cmpxchg_user_key() handling to uaccess library code, since the
generated code is large anyway and there is no benefit if it is
   inlined

 - Fix a problem when cmpxchg_user_key() is executing a code with a
non-default key: if a system is IPL-ed with "LOAD NORMAL", and the
previous system used storage keys where the fetch-protection bit was
set for some pages, and the cmpxchg_user_key() is located within such
   page, a protection exception happens

 - Either the external call or emergency signal order is used to send an
IPI to a remote CPU. Use the external order only, since it is at
least as good and sometimes even better, than the emergency signal

 - In case of an early crash the early program check handler prints more
or less random value of the last breaking event address, since it is
not initialized properly. Copy the last breaking event address from
the lowcore to pt_regs to address this

 - Remove a possible false-positive warning in pte_free_defer(), which
could be triggered in a valid case KVM guest process is initializing

897e8601b9 s390/ism: fix concurrency management in ism_cmd()
The s390x ISM device data sheet clearly states that only one
request-response sequence is allowable per ISM function at any point in
time. Unfortunately as of today the s390/ism driver in Linux does not
honor that requirement. This patch aims to rectify that.

This problem was discovered based on Aliaksei's bug report which states
that for certain workloads the ISM functions end up entering error state
(with PEC 2 as seen from the logs) after a while and as a consequence
connections handled by the respective function break, and for future
connection requests the ISM device is not considered -- given it is in a
dysfunctional state. During further debugging PEC 3A was observed as
well.

A kernel message like
[ 1211.244319] zpci: 061a:00:00.0: Event 0x2 reports an error for PCI function 0x61a
is a reliable indicator of the stated function entering error state
with PEC 2. Let me also point out that a kernel message like
[ 1211.244325] zpci: 061a:00:00.0: The ism driver bound to the device does not support error recovery
is a reliable indicator that the ISM function won't be auto-recovered
because the ISM driver currently lacks support for it.

On a technical level, without this synchronization, commands (inputs to
the FW) may be partially or fully overwritten (corrupted) by another CPU
trying to issue commands on the same function. There is hard evidence that
this can lead to DMB token values being used as DMB IOVAs, leading to
PEC 2 PCI events indicating invalid DMA. But this is only one of the
failure modes imaginable. In theory even completely losing one command
and executing another one twice and then trying to interpret the outputs
as if the command we intended to execute was actually executed and not
the other one is also possible. Frankly, I don't feel confident about
providing an exhaustive list of possible consequences.

727258025b s390/net: Remove NETIUCV device driver
The netiucv driver creates TCP/IP interfaces over IUCV between Linux
guests on z/VM and other z/VM entities.

Rationale for removal:
- NETIUCV connections are only supported for compatibility with
earlier versions and not to be used for new network setups,
since at least Linux kernel 4.0.
- No known active users, use cases, or product dependencies
- The driver is no longer relevant for z/VM networking;
  preferred methods include:
	* Device pass-through (e.g., OSA, RoCE)
	* z/VM Virtual Switch (VSWITCH)

The IUCV mechanism itself remains supported and is actively used
via AF_IUCV, hvc_iucv, and smsg_iucv.

Linus Torvalds
1b98f357da Networking changes for 6.16.
Core
 ----

  - Implement the Device Memory TCP transmit path, allowing zero-copy
data transmission on top of TCP from e.g. GPU memory to the wire.

  - Move all the IPv6 routing tables management outside the RTNL scope,
under its own lock and RCU. The route control path is now 3x times
    faster.

  - Convert queue related netlink ops to instance lock, reducing
again the scope of the RTNL lock. This improves the control plane
    scalability.

  - Refactor the software crc32c implementation, removing unneeded
abstraction layers and improving significantly the related
    micro-benchmarks.

  - Optimize the GRO engine for UDP-tunneled traffic, for a 10%
performance improvement in related stream tests.

  - Cover more per-CPU storage with local nested BH locking; this is a
prep work to remove the current per-CPU lock in local_bh_disable()
    on PREMPT_RT.

  - Introduce and use nlmsg_payload helper, combining buffer bounds
verification with accessing payload carried by netlink messages.

 Netfilter
 ---------

  - Rewrite the procfs conntrack table implementation, improving
considerably the dump performance. A lot of user-space tools
    still use this interface.

  - Implement support for wildcard netdevice in netdev basechain
    and flowtables.

  - Integrate conntrack information into nft trace infrastructure.

  - Export set count and backend name to userspace, for better
    introspection.

 BPF
 ---

  - BPF qdisc support: BPF-qdisc can be implemented with BPF struct_ops
programs and can be controlled in similar way to traditional qdiscs
    using the "tc qdisc" command.

  - Refactor the UDP socket iterator, addressing long standing issues
WRT duplicate hits or missed sockets.

 Protocols
 ---------

  - Improve TCP receive buffer auto-tuning and increase the default
upper bound for the receive buffer; overall this improves the single
flow maximum thoughput on 200Gbs link by over 60%.

  - Add AFS GSSAPI security class to AF_RXRPC; it provides transport
security for connections to the AFS fileserver and VL server.

  - Improve TCP multipath routing, so that the sources address always
    matches the nexthop device.

  - Introduce SO_PASSRIGHTS for AF_UNIX, to allow disabling SCM_RIGHTS,
and thus preventing DoS caused by passing around problematic FDs.

  - Retire DCCP socket. DCCP only receives updates for bugs, and major
distros disable it by default. Its removal allows for better
organisation of TCP fields to reduce the number of cache lines hit
    in the fast path.

  - Extend TCP drop-reason support to cover PAWS checks.

 Driver API
 ----------

  - Reorganize PTP ioctl flag support to require an explicit opt-in for
the drivers, avoiding the problem of drivers not rejecting new
    unsupported flags.

  - Converted several device drivers to timestamping APIs.

  - Introduce per-PHY ethtool dump helpers, improving the support for
    dump operations targeting PHYs.

 Tests and tooling
 -----------------

  - Add support for classic netlink in user space C codegen, so that
ynl-c can now read, create and modify links, routes addresses and
    qdisc layer configuration.

  - Add ynl sub-types for binary attributes, allowing ynl-c to output
known struct instead of raw binary data, clarifying the classic
    netlink output.

  - Extend MPTCP selftests to improve the code-coverage.

  - Add tests for XDP tail adjustment in AF_XDP.

 New hardware / drivers
 ----------------------

  - OpenVPN virtual driver: offload OpenVPN data channels processing
to the kernel-space, increasing the data transfer throughput WRT
    the user-space implementation.

  - Renesas glue driver for the gigabit ethernet RZ/V2H(P) SoC.

  - Broadcom asp-v3.0 ethernet driver.

e76b8c1d7a s390: Simple strcpy() to strscpy() conversions
Convert all strcpy() usages to strscpy() where the conversion means
just replacing strcpy() with strscpy(). strcpy() is deprecated since
it performs no bounds checking on the destination buffer.

199561a48f s390: ism: Pass string literal as format argument of dev_set_name()
GCC 14.2.0 reports that passing a non-string literal as the
format argument of dev_set_name() is potentially insecure.

drivers/s390/net/ism_drv.c: In function 'ism_probe':
drivers/s390/net/ism_drv.c:615:2: warning: format not a string literal and no format arguments [-Wformat-security]
  615 |  dev_set_name(&ism->dev, dev_name(&pdev->dev));
      | ^~~~~~~~~~~~

It seems to me that as pdev is a PCIE device then the dev_name
call above should always return the device's BDF, e.g. 00:12.0.
That this should not contain format escape sequences. And thus
the current usage is safe.

But, it seems better to be safe than sorry. And, as a bonus, compiler
output becomes less verbose by addressing this issue.

Compile tested only.
No functional change intended.

Pull pci updates from Bjorn Helgaas:
 "Enumeration:

   - Enable Configuration RRS SV, which makes device readiness visible,
early instead of during child bus scanning (Bjorn Helgaas)

   - Log debug messages about reset methods being used (Bjorn Helgaas)

   - Avoid reset when it has been disabled via sysfs (Nishanth
     Aravamudan)

   - Add common pci-ep-bus.yaml schema for exporting several peripherals
of a single PCI function via devicetree (Andrea della Porta)

   - Create DT nodes for PCI host bridges to enable loading device tree
overlays to create platform devices for PCI devices that have
several features that require multiple drivers (Herve Codina)

  Resource management:

   - Enlarge devres table[] to accommodate bridge windows, ROM, IOV
BARs, etc., and validate BAR index in devres interfaces (Philipp
     Stanner)

   - Fix typo that repeatedly distributed resources to a bridge instead
of iterating over subordinate bridges, which resulted in too little
space to assign some BARs (Kai-Heng Feng)

   - Relax bridge window tail sizing for optional resources, e.g., IOV
BARs, to avoid failures when removing and re-adding devices (Ilpo
     Järvinen)

   - Allow drivers to enable devices even if we haven't assigned
optional IOV resources to them (Ilpo Järvinen)

   - Rework handling of optional resources (IOV BARs, ROMs) to reduce
failures if we can't allocate them (Ilpo Järvinen)

   - Fix a NULL dereference in the SR-IOV VF creation error path (Shay
     Drory)

   - Fix s390 mmio_read/write syscalls, which didn't cause page faults
in some cases, which broke vfio-pci lazy mapping on first access
     (Niklas Schnelle)

   - Add pdev->non_mappable_bars to replace CONFIG_VFIO_PCI_MMAP, which
was disabled only for s390 (Niklas Schnelle)

   - Support mmap of PCI resources on s390 except for ISM devices
     (Niklas Schnelle)

  ASPM:

   - Delay pcie_link_state deallocation to avoid dangling pointers that
cause invalid references during hot-unplug (Daniel Stodden)

  Power management:

   - Allow PCI bridges to go to D3Hot when suspending on all non-x86
     systems (Manivannan Sadhasivam)

  Power control:

   - Create pwrctrl devices in pci_scan_device() to make it more
symmetric with pci_pwrctrl_unregister() and make pwrctrl devices
for PCI bridges possible (Manivannan Sadhasivam)

   - Unregister pwrctrl devices in pci_destroy_dev() so DOE, ASPM, etc.
can still access devices after pci_stop_dev() (Manivannan
     Sadhasivam)

   - If there's a pwrctrl device for a PCI device, skip scanning it
because the pwrctrl core will rescan the bus after the device is
     powered on (Manivannan Sadhasivam)

   - Add a pwrctrl driver for PCI slots based on voltage regulators
     described via devicetree (Manivannan Sadhasivam)

  Bandwidth control:

   - Add set_pcie_speed.sh to TEST_PROGS to fix issue when executing the
     set_pcie_cooling_state.sh test case (Yi Lai)

   - Avoid a NULL pointer dereference when we run out of bus numbers to
assign for a bridge secondary bus (Lukas Wunner)

  Hotplug:

   - Drop superfluous pci_hotplug_slot_list, try_module_get() calls, and
     NULL pointer checks (Lukas Wunner)

   - Drop shpchp module init/exit logging, replace shpchp dbg() with
ctrl_dbg(), and remove unused dbg(), err(), info(), warn() wrappers
     (Ilpo Järvinen)

   - Drop 'shpchp_debug' module parameter in favor of standard dynamic
     debugging (Ilpo Järvinen)

   - Drop unused cpcihp .get_power(), .set_power() function pointers
     (Guilherme Giacomo Simoes)

   - Disable hotplug interrupts in portdrv only when pciehp is not
enabled to avoid issuing two hotplug commands too close together
     (Feng Tang)

   - Skip pciehp 'device replaced' check if the device has been removed
to address a deadlock when resuming after a device was removed
     during system sleep (Lukas Wunner)

   - Don't enable pciehp hotplug interupt when resuming in poll mode
     (Ilpo Järvinen)

  Virtualization:

   - Fix bugs in 'pci=config_acs=' kernel command line parameter (Tushar
     Dave)

  DOE:

   - Expose supported DOE features via sysfs (Alistair Francis)

   - Allow DOE support to be enabled even if CXL isn't enabled (Alistair
     Francis)

  Endpoint framework:

   - Convert PCI device data so pci-epf-test works correctly on
     big-endian endpoint systems (Niklas Cassel)

   - Add BAR_RESIZABLE type to endpoint framework and add DWC core
support for EPF drivers to set BAR_RESIZABLE type and size (Niklas
     Cassel)

   - Fix pci-epf-test double free that causes an oops if the host
reboots and PERST# deassertion restarts endpoint BAR allocation
     (Christian Bruel)

   - Fix endpoint BAR testing so tests can skip disabled BARs instead of
reporting them as failures (Niklas Cassel)

   - Widen endpoint test BAR size variable to accommodate BARs larger
     than INT_MAX (Niklas Cassel)

   - Remove unused tools 'pci' build target left over after moving tests
     to tools/testing/selftests/pci_endpoint (Jianfeng Liu)

   - Handle regulator_bulk_get() error to avoid panic when we call
     regulator_bulk_free() later (Jim Quinlan)

   - Disable regulators only when removing the bus immediately below a

aa9f168d55 s390/pci: Support mmap() of PCI resources except for ISM devices
So far s390 does not allow mmap() of PCI resources to user-space via the
usual mechanisms, though it does use it for RDMA. For the PCI sysfs
resource files and /proc/bus/pci it defines neither HAVE_PCI_MMAP nor
ARCH_GENERIC_PCI_MMAP_RESOURCE. For vfio-pci s390 previously relied on
disabled VFIO_PCI_MMAP and now relies on setting pdev->non_mappable_bars
for all devices.

This is partly because access to mapped PCI resources from user-space
requires special PCI load/store memory-I/O (MIO) instructions, or the
special MMIO syscalls when these are not available. Still, such access is
possible and useful not just for RDMA, in fact not being able to mmap() PCI
resources has previously caused extra work when testing devices.

One thing that doesn't work with PCI resources mapped to user-space though
is the s390 specific virtual ISM device. Not only because the BAR size of
256 TiB prevents mapping the whole BAR but also because access requires use
of the legacy PCI instructions which are not accessible to user-space on
systems with the newer MIO PCI instructions.

Now with the pdev->non_mappable_bars flag ISM can be excluded from mapping
its resources while making this functionality available for all other PCI
devices. To this end introduce a minimal implementation of PCI_QUIRKS and
use that to set pdev->non_mappable_bars for ISM devices only. Then also set
ARCH_GENERIC_PCI_MMAP_RESOURCE to take advantage of the generic
implementation of pci_mmap_resource_range() enabling only the newer sysfs
mmap() interface. This follows the recommendation in
Documentation/PCI/sysfs-pci.rst.

915e34d5ad s390/ism: add release function for struct device
According to device_release() in /drivers/base/core.c,
a device without a release function is a broken device
and must be fixed.

The current code directly frees the device after calling device_add()
without waiting for other kernel parts to release their references.
Thus, a reference could still be held to a struct device,
e.g., by sysfs, leading to potential use-after-free
issues if a proper release function is not set.

0d0b752f24 s390/qeth: move netif_napi_add_tx() and napi_enable() from under BH
Like other drivers qeth is calling local_bh_enable() after napi_schedule()
to kick-start softirqs [0].
Since netif_napi_add_tx() and napi_enable() now take the netdev_lock()
mutex [1], move them out from under the BH protection. Same solution as in

6cccb3bb05 s390/net: Remove LCS driver
The original Open Systems Adapter (OSA) was introduced by IBM in the
mid-90s. These were then superseded by OSA-Express in 1999 which used
Queued Direct IO to greatly improve throughput. The newer cards
retained the older, slower non-QDIO (OSE) modes for compatibility with
older systems. In Linux, the lcs driver was responsible for cards
operating in the older OSE mode and the qeth driver was introduced to
allow the OSA-Express cards to operate in the newer QDIO (OSD) mode.

For an S390 machine from 1998 or later, there is no reason to use the
OSE mode and lcs driver as all OSA cards since 1999 provide the faster
OSD mode. As a result, it's been years since we have heard of a
customer configuration involving the lcs driver.

This patch removes the lcs driver. The technology it supports has been
obsolete for past 25+ years and is irrelevant for current use cases.

2111375b85 net: Add struct kernel_ethtool_ts_info
In prevision to add new UAPI for hwtstamp we will be limited to the struct
ethtool_ts_info that is currently passed in fixed binary format through the
ETHTOOL_GET_TS_INFO ethtool ioctl. It would be good if new kernel code
already started operating on an extensible kernel variant of that
structure, similar in concept to struct kernel_hwtstamp_config vs struct
hwtstamp_config.

Since struct ethtool_ts_info is in include/uapi/linux/ethtool.h, here
we introduce the kernel-only structure in include/linux/ethtool.h.
The manual copy is then made in the function called by ETHTOOL_GET_TS_INFO.
