Allocating a contiguous buffer of 64K may fail if memory is sufficiently
fragmented, and may cause OOM kill of an unrelated process. However we
do not need to have contiguous memory. We also do not need to zero
out the buffer since it will be overwritten with firmware data.
Switch to using kvmalloc() instead of kzalloc().

As the driver supports more devices over time the single MODULE_ALIAS
is complete and raises several warnings:

It is preferred to use sizeof(*pointer) instead of sizeof(type)
due to the type of the variable can change and one needs not
change the former (unlike the latter).
The refactoring is mostly trivial except for "usbtouchscreen.c"
file. Here, in the "mtouch_alloc" and "nexio_alloc" functions,
it is necessary to use a variable with a predefined type instead
of the "usbtouch->priv" variable (void * type). This way, the
"sizeof" operator can now know the correct size. Moreover, we
need to set the "usbtouch->priv" pointer after the memory
allocation since now the "kmalloc" return value is not assigned
directly.
This patch has no effect on runtime behavior.

The caller of this function treats all non-zero values as an error, so
the return value of i2c_master_recv() cannot be returned directly.
This fixes touch reporting when there are more than 6 active touches.

When support for Silead touchscreens was orginal added some touchscreens
with older firmware versions only supported 5 fingers and this was made
the default requiring the setting of a "silead,max-fingers=10" uint32
device-property for all touchscreen models which do support 10 fingers.
There are very few models with the old 5 finger fw, so in practice the
setting of the "silead,max-fingers=10" is boilerplate which needs to
be copy and pasted to every touchscreen config.
Reporting that 10 fingers are supported on devices which only support
5 fingers doesn't cause any problems for userspace in practice, since
at max 4 finger gestures are supported anyways. Drop the max_fingers
configuration and simply always assume 10 fingers.

The driver is compatible with FocalTech FT5452 and FT8719 touchscreens
too. FT5452 supports up to 5 touch points. FT8719 supports up to 10 touch

These drivers don't use the driver_data member of struct i2c_device_id,
so don't explicitly initialize this member.
This prepares putting driver_data in an anonymous union which requires
either no initialization or named designators. But it's also a nice
cleanup on its own.
While add it, also remove commas after the sentinel entries.

Imagis IST3038B is another variant of Imagis IST3038 IC, which has
a different register interface from IST3038C (possibly firmware defined).
This should also work for IST3044B (though untested), however other
variants using this interface/protocol(IST3026, IST3032, IST3026B,
IST3032B) have a different format for coordinates, and they'd need
additional effort to be supported by this driver.

Add initial support for the new Goodix "Berlin" touchscreen ICs.
These touchscreen ICs support SPI, I2C and I3C interface, up to
10 finger touch, stylus and gestures events.
This initial driver is derived from the Goodix goodix_ts_berlin
available at [1] and [2] and only supports the GT9916 IC
present on the Qualcomm SM8550 MTP & QRD touch panel.
The current implementation only supports BerlinD, aka GT9916.
Support for advanced features like:
- Firmware & config update
- Stylus events
- Gestures events
- Previous revisions support (BerlinA or BerlinB)
is not included in current version.
The current support will work with currently flashed firmware
and config, and bail out if firmware or config aren't flashed yet.

Some devices list 3 Gpio resources in the ACPI resource list for
the touchscreen:
1. GpioInt resource pointing to the GPIO used for the interrupt
2. GpioIo resource pointing to the reset GPIO
3. GpioIo resource pointing to the GPIO used for the interrupt
Note how the third extra GpioIo resource really is a duplicate
of the GpioInt provided info.
Ignore this extra GPIO, treating this setup the same as gpio_count == 2 &&
gpio_int_idx == 0 fixes the touchscreen not working on the Thunderbook
Colossus W803 rugged tablet and likely also on the CyberBook_T116K.

The Cypress touchscreen controllers are often used with external pull-up
for the interrupt line and the I2C lines, so we might need to enable
a regulator to bring the lines into usable state. Otherwise, this might
cause spurious interrupts and reading from I2C will fail.
Implement support for a "vddio-supply" that is enabled by the cyttsp5
driver so that the regulator gets enabled when needed.

Add a special case for gpio_count == 1 && gpio_int_idx == 0 to
goodix_add_acpi_gpio_mappings().
It seems that on newer x86/ACPI devices the reset and irq GPIOs are no
longer listed as GPIO resources instead there is only 1 GpioInt resource
and _PS0 does the whole reset sequence for us.
This means that we must call acpi_device_fix_up_power() on these devices
to ensure that the chip is reset before we try to use it.
This part was already fixed in commit 3de93e6ed2 ("Input: goodix - call
acpi_device_fix_up_power() in some cases") by adding a call to
acpi_device_fix_up_power() to the generic "Unexpected ACPI resources"
catch all.
But it turns out that this case on some hw needs some more special
handling. Specifically the firmware may bootup with the IRQ pin in
output mode. The reset sequence from ACPI _PS0 (executed by
acpi_device_fix_up_power()) should put the pin in input mode,
but the GPIO subsystem has cached the direction at bootup, causing
request_irq() to fail due to gpiochip_lock_as_irq() failure:

Fix this by adding a special case for gpio_count == 1 && gpio_int_idx == 0
which adds an ACPI GPIO lookup table for the int GPIO even though we cannot
use it for reset purposes (as there is no reset GPIO).
Adding the lookup will make the gpiod_int = gpiod_get(..., GPIOD_IN) call
succeed, which will explicitly set the direction to input fixing the issue.
Note this re-uses the acpi_goodix_int_first_gpios[] lookup table, since
there is only 1 GPIO in the ACPI resources the reset entry in that
lookup table will amount to a no-op.

The Goodix touchscreen controller with ACPI ID GDX9110 was not recognized
by the goodix driver. This patch adds this ID to the list of supported IDs,
allowing the driver to be used with this device. The change will allow
Linux to be used on ~1 million tablet devices used in Kenyan primary
schools.

MELFAS MMS114 and similar touchscreens have support for touch keys.
Enable support of them in the driver. The keycodes to emit can be
controlled by the linux,keycodes DT property.
Sidenote - the MAX_TOUCHKEYS value is set to 15, as that's the
maximum value that the ID field can contain. I don't have access
to any datasheets that could confirm or deny whether this is accurate.
Most downstream drivers I've been able to find only use up to 2 keys
(though I did find a driver that mentioned up to 4, but only 2 were
used). They don't have any checks for a maximum keycode value, it is
just extracted from the ID bits (0xf mask).
The drivers I've been able to find also don't use touch ID 0; I assume
that it is never used, so the keycodes provided in the DT start from
touch ID 1. I suppose this is in-line with the regular behavior
for touch IDs in touchscreen events, as there the provided touch ID

The DT of_device.h and of_platform.h date back to the separate
of_platform_bus_type before it as merged into the regular platform bus.
As part of that merge prepping Arm DT support 13 years ago, they
"temporarily" include each other. They also include platform_device.h
and of.h. As a result, there's a pretty much random mix of those include
files used throughout the tree. In order to detangle these headers and
replace the implicit includes with struct declarations, users need to
explicitly include the correct includes.

Point the OF match table directly to the struct that describes the
device as opposed to an intermediate enum; doing so simplifies the
code and avoids a clang warning.
As part of this change, the I2C device ID table is removed, as the

There's nothing controversial in here and almost everything has been
in next for more than a week (95% a lot longer than this). The only
thing that has spent less time in next is a new driver so no risk of
regressions.
The single merge pulls in changes that remove all usage of global GPIO
numbers from arch/arm/mach-omap.

The Nokia 770 is using GPIOs from the global numberspace on the
CBUS node to pass down to the LCD controller. This regresses when we
let the OMAP GPIO driver use dynamic GPIO base.
The Nokia 770 now has dynamic allocation of IRQ numbers, so this
needs to be fixed for it to work.
As this is the only user of LCD MIPID we can easily augment the
driver to use a GPIO descriptor instead and resolve the issue.
The platform data .shutdown() callback wasn't even used in the
code, but we encode a shutdown asserting RESET in the remove()
callback for completeness sake.
The CBUS also has the ADS7846 touchscreen attached.
Populate the devices on the Nokia 770 CBUS I2C using software
nodes instead of platform data quirks. This includes the LCD
and the ADS7846 touchscreen so the conversion just brings the LCD
along with it as software nodes is an all-or-nothing design
pattern.
The ADS7846 has some limited support for using GPIO descriptors,
let's convert it over completely to using device properties and then
fix all remaining boardfile users to provide all platform data using
software nodes.
Dump the of includes and of_match_ptr() in the ADS7846 driver as part
of the job.
Since we have to move ADS7846 over to obtaining the GPIOs it is
using exclusively from descriptors, we provide descriptor tables
for the two remaining in-kernel boardfiles using ADS7846:
- PXA Spitz
- MIPS Alchemy DB1000 development board
It was too hard for me to include software node conversion of
these two remaining users at this time: the spitz is using a
hscync callback in the platform data that would require further
GPIO descriptor conversion of the Spitz, and moving the hsync
callback down into the driver: it will just become too big of
a job, but it can be done separately.
The MIPS Alchemy DB1000 is simply something I cannot test, so take
the easier approach of just providing some GPIO descriptors in
this case as I don't want the patch to grow too intrusive.
As we see that several device trees have incorrect polarity flags
and just expect to bypass the gpiolib polarity handling, fix up
all device trees too, in a separate patch.

Probe the touch controller driver even if resolution information is not
available. This can happen e.g. in case the touch controller suffered a
failed firmware update and is stuck in bootloader mode.

The touch controller needs some time to wake-up after setting the wake-up
gpio. Without having a delay after wake-up probing regularly fails in
edt_ft5x06_ts_identify() with an error (i.e. EREMOTEIO) that was caused
by a failed i2c transfer.
The datasheet sets the wake-up time to 5 ms, although it is not entirely
clear.

The touchscreen can be put into a deep sleep state that prevents it from
emitting touch irqs. Put the touchscreen into deep sleep during suspend
if it is not marked as a wakeup source.
This also fixes a problem with the touchscreen getting unresponsive after
system resume when a falling edge trigger is used for the interrupt.
When left on during suspend, the touchscreen would pull the interrupt
line down in response to touch events, leaving the interrupt effectively
disabled after resume.

It is pointless and expensive to calculate data in the interrupt that
depends on the type of touchscreen, which is detected on the driver
probe and cannot then be changed.
So calculate the size of the data buffer on the driver probe, as well as
the data retrieval command, and then use them in the ISR.

When a hard IRQ is triggered, the soft IRQ, which decides if an actual
pen down happened, should always be triggered. This enables the usage of
"can_sleep" GPIO chips as "pen down" GPIO, as the value is not read
during the hard IRQ anymore. This might be the case if the GPIO chip is
an expander behind i2c.

Add a new driver for the Novatek i2c touchscreen controller as found
on the Acer Iconia One 7 B1-750 tablet. Unfortunately the touchscreen
controller model-number is unknown. Even with the tablet opened up it
is impossible to read the model-number.
Android calls this a "NVT-ts" touchscreen, but that may apply to other
Novatek controller models too.
This appears to be the same controller as the one supported by
https://github.com/advx9600/android/blob/master/touchscreen/NVTtouch_Android4.0/NVTtouch.c
but unfortunately that does not give us a model-number either.

Merge with mainline to get of_property_present() and other newer APIs.
The HiDeep IST940E touchscreen controller used on the Lenovo Yoga Book X90F
convertible comes up in HID mode by default.
This works well on the X91F Windows model where the touchscreen is
correctly described in ACPI and ACPI takes care of controlling
the reset GPIO and regulators.
But the X90F ships with Android and the ACPI tables on this model don't
describe the touchscreen. Instead this is hardcoded in the vendor kernel.
The vendor kernel uses the touchscreen in native HiDeep 20 (2.0?) protocol
mode and switches the controller to this mode by writing 0 to reg 0x081e.
Adjusting the i2c-hid code to deal with the reset-gpio and regulators on
this non devicetree (but rather broken ACPI) convertible is somewhat tricky
and the native protocol reports ABS_MT_PRESSURE and ABS_MT_TOUCH_MAJOR
which are not reported in HID mode, so it is preferable to use the native
mode.
Add support to the hideep driver to reset the work-mode to the native
HiDeep protocol to allow using it on the Lenovo Yoga Book X90F.
This is guarded behind a new "hideep,force-native-protocol" boolean
property, to avoid changing behavior on other devices.
For the record: I did test using the i2c-hid driver with some quick hacks
and it does work. The I2C-HID descriptor is available from address 0x0020,
just like on the X91F Windows model.
So far the new "hideep,force-native-protocol" property is only used on
x86/ACPI (non devicetree) devs. IOW it is not used in actual devicetree
files. The devicetree-bindings maintainers have requested properties like
these to not be added to the devicetree-bindings, so the new property is
deliberately not added to the existing devicetree-bindings.

On some models the first HIDEEP_SYSCON_WDT_CON write alone is enough to
cause the controller to reset, causing the second write to fail:
i2c-hideep_ts: write to register 0x52000014 (0x000001) failed: -121
Switch this write to a raw hideep_pgm_w_mem() to avoid an error getting
logged in this case.

The Android Lenovo Yoga Book X90F / X90L uses the same goodix touchscreen
with 9 bytes touch reports for its touch keyboard as the already supported
Windows Lenovo Yoga Book X91F/L, add a DMI match for this to
the nine_bytes_report DMI table.
When the quirk for the X91F/L was initially added it was written to
also apply to the X90F/L but this does not work because the Android
version of the Yoga Book uses completely different DMI strings.
Also adjust the X91F/L quirk to reflect that it only applies to
the X91F/L models.

The thermal zone device structure is exposed to the different drivers
and obviously they access the internals while that should be
restricted to the core thermal code.
In order to self-encapsulate the thermal core code, we need to prevent
the drivers accessing directly the thermal zone structure and provide
accessor functions to deal with.
Use the devdata accessor introduced in the previous patch.
No functional changes intended.

Prior to this patch, the bitmask ends up being 0x3, as opposed to 0x1
which likely was the intention. The erroneous bit results in the driver
reporting 2 different button activations in designs with 2 or more
buttons.
To detect which button has been pressed, cyttsp5_btn_attention() uses a
for loop to iterate through the input buffer, while shifting and
applying a bitmask to determine the state for each button.
Unfortunately, when the bitmask is 0x3 and there are multiple buttons,
this procedure falls apart.
Consider a design with 3 buttons. Pressing the third button will result
in a call to cyttsp5_btn_attention() with the input buffer containing
0x4 (binary 0100). In the first iteration of the for loop cur_btn_state
will be:
(0x4 >> 0 * 1) & 0x3 = 0x4 & 0x3 = 0x0
This is correct. However, in the next iteration this happens:
(0x4 >> 1 * 1) & 0x3 = 0x2 & 0x3 = 0x2
Which means that a key event for key 1 is generated, even though it's
not really active. In the third iteration, the loop detects the button
that was actually pressed:
(0x4 >> 2 * 1) & 0x3 = 0x1 & 0x3 = 0x1
This key event is the only one that should have been detected, but it is
accompanied by the preceding key. Ensuring the applied mask is 0x1
solves this problem.

The ucb1400 MFD driver and its gpio and touchscreen child
drivers were only used on a few PXA machines that were unused
for a while and are now removed.
Removing these leaves the AC97 support as ALSA specific,
no other drivers are now connected through this interface.

To discard false readings, one should use "ti,penirq-recheck-delay-usecs".
Checking get_pendown_state() at the beginning, most of the time fails

Controllers that report pressure (e.g. ADS7846) use 5 commands and the
correct sequence is READ_X, READ_Y, READ_Z1, READ_Z2, PWRDOWN.
Controllers that don't report pressure (e.g. ADS7845/ADS7843) use only 3
commands and the correct sequence should be READ_X, READ_Y, PWRDOWN. But
the sequence sent was incorrect: READ_X, READ_Y, READ_Z1.
Fix this by setting the third (and last) command to PWRDOWN.

SET_SYSTEM_SLEEP_PM_OPS() and RUNTIME_PM_OPS() are deprecated as

The new combination of pm_ptr() EXPORT_GPL_RUNTIME_DEV_PM_OPS()
allows the compiler to see the functions, thus suppressing the
warning, but still allowing the unused code to be
removed. Thus also drop the #ifdef guards.
Note that we are replacing an unconditional call to the suspend
and resume functions for sleep use cases with one via
pm_runtime_force_suspend() / pm_runtime_force_resume() that only
do anything to the device if we are not already in the appropriate
runtime suspended state.

The majority of all pxa board files has not been touched in a long time,
and no users have spoken up in favor of keeping them around. This leaves
only support for the platforms that were already converted to DT, as
well as the gumstix and spitz/akita/borzoi machines that work in qemu
and can still be converted to DT later.

The elan touchscreen datasheet says that the reset GPIO only needs to
be asserted for 500us in order to reset the regulator. The problem is
that some boards need a level shifter between the signals on the GPIO
controller and the signals on the touchscreen. All of these extra
components on the line can slow the transition of the signals. On one
board, we measured the reset line and saw that it took almost 1.8ms to
go low. Even after we bumped up the "drive strength" of the signal
from the default 2mA to 8mA we still saw it take 421us for the signal
to go low.
In order to account for this let's lengthen the amount of time that we
keep the reset asserted. Let's bump it up from 500us to 5000us.
That's still a relatively short amount of time and is much safer.
It should be noted that this fixes real problems. Case in point:
1. The touchscreen power rail may be shared with another device (like
an eDP panel). That means that at probe time power might already be
on.
2. In probe we grab the reset GPIO and assert it (make it low).
3. We turn on power (a noop since it was already on).
4. We wait 500us.
5. We deassert the reset GPIO.
With the above case and only a 500us delay we saw only a partial reset
asserted, which is bad. Giving it 5ms is overkill but feels safer in
case someone else has a different level shifter setup.
Note that bumping up the delay to 5000 means that some configs yell
about using udelay(). We'll change to using usleep_range(). We give a
small range here because:
- This isn't a delay that happens very often so we don't need to worry
about giving a big range to allow for power efficiency.
- usleep_range() is known to almost always pick the upper bound and
delay that long and we really don't want to slow down the power on
of the touchscreen that much.

Since commit 0166dc11be ("of: make CONFIG_OF user selectable"), it
is possible to test-build any driver which depends on OF on any
architecture by explicitly selecting OF. Therefore depending on
COMPILE_TEST as an alternative is no longer needed.
It is actually better to always build such drivers with OF enabled,
so that the test builds are closer to how each driver will actually be
built on its intended target. Building them without OF may not test
much as the compiler will optimize out potentially large parts of the
code. In the worst case, this could even pop false positive warnings.
Dropping COMPILE_TEST here improves the quality of our testing and
avoids wasting time on non-existent issues.

The raydium I2C touchscreen driver is currently manually managing the
wake IRQ. This change removes the explicit enable_irq_wake /
disable_irq_wake and instead relies on the PM subsystem. This is done by
calling dev_pm_set_wake_irq.
i2c_device_probe already calls dev_pm_set_wake_irq when using device
tree, and i2c_device_remove also already calls dev_pm_clear_wake_irq.
There could be some device tree systems that have incorrectly declared
`wake` capabilities, so this change will set the wake irq if one is
missing. This matches the previous behavior.

As can be seen in elants_i2c_power_off(), we want the reset GPIO
asserted when power is off. The reset GPIO is active low so we need
the reset line logic low when power is off to avoid leakage.
We have a problem, though, at probe time. At probe time we haven't
powered the regulators on yet but we have:
devm_gpiod_get(&client->dev, "reset", GPIOD_OUT_LOW);
While that _looks_ right, it turns out that it's not. The
GPIOD_OUT_LOW doesn't mean to init the GPIO to low. It means init the
GPIO to "not asserted". Since this is an active low GPIO that inits it
to be high.
Let's fix this to properly init the GPIO. Now after both probe and
power off the state of the GPIO is consistent (it's "asserted" or
level low).
Once we fix this, we can see that at power on time we no longer to
assert the reset GPIO as the first thing. The reset GPIO is _always_
asserted before powering on. Let's fix powering on to account for
this.

In the very unlikely event the cst3xx_i2c_write() fails inside of the
cst3xx_bootloader_enter() function 5 times in a row, the uninitalized
value of tmp will get compared to CST3XX_BOOTLDR_CHK_VAL. Initialize
the value of tmp to 0 so that in this unlikely event we are comparing
0 instead of an uninitalized variable.

msg2138 only supports 2 fingers presses, and needs different processing
since second finger press is encoded as a delta position wrt. first one
and the packet/touch_event structs are not the same as msg2638.
Add support for it by implementing distinct structs and irq handler.

This patch adds support for Himax hx83112b touchscreen devices. As there
are no publicly available data sheets for these devices, the
implementation is based on the driver of the downstream Android kernel
used in the Fairphone 3. This patch is a complete rewrite, though, and
the code bears no resemblence to the original implementation.
The driver has been tested on the aforementioned phone.

On ACPI systems (irq_pin_access_method == IRQ_PIN_ACCESS_ACPI_*) the driver
does not reset the controller at probe time, because sometimes the system
firmware loads a config and resetting might loose this config.
On the Nanote UMPC-01 device OTOH the config is in flash of the controller,
the controller needs a reset to load this; and the system firmware does not
reset the controller on a cold boot.
To fix the Nanote UMPC-01 touchscreen not working on a cold boot, try
resetting the controller and then re-reading the config when encountering
a config with 0 width/height/max_touch_num value and the controller has
not already been reset by goodix_ts_probe().
This should be safe to do in general because normally we should never
encounter a config with 0 width/height/max_touch_num. Doing this in
general not only avoids the need for a DMI quirk, but also might help
other systems.

This is the basic driver for the Cypress TrueTouch Gen5 touchscreen
controllers. This driver supports only the I2C bus but it uses regmap
so SPI support could be added later.
The touchscreen can retrieve some defined zone that are handled as
buttons (according to the hardware). That is why it handles
button and multitouch events.

Add support for the Hynitron cst3xx controller found on devices such
as the Anbernic RG353P and RG353V (the Hynitron CST340). This driver
was built from sources provided by Hynitron to Anbernic (possibly
via Rockchip as an intermediary) and marked as GPLv2 in the code.
This driver was written strictly for the cst3xx series, but in
most places was left somewhat generic so support could be easily
added to other devices in the future.

Currently there are no users of auo_pixcir_ts_platdata in the mainline, and
having it (with legacy gpio numbers) prevents us from converting the driver
to gpiod API, so let's drop it.
If, in the future, someone wants to use this driver on non-device tree,
non-ACPI system, they should use static device properties instead of
platform data.

The thermal OF code has a new API allowing to migrate the OF
initialization to a simpler approach. The ops are no longer device
tree specific and are the generic ones provided by the core code.
Convert the ops to the thermal_zone_device_ops format and use the new
API to register the thermal zone with these generic ops.

The value returned by an i2c driver's remove function is mostly ignored.
(Only an error message is printed if the value is non-zero that the
error is ignored.)
So change the prototype of the remove function to return no value. This
way driver authors are not tempted to assume that passing an error to
the upper layer is a good idea. All drivers are adapted accordingly.
There is no intended change of behaviour, all callbacks were prepared to
return 0 before.
