995832b2ce Replace <linux/mod_devicetable.h> by more specific <linux/device-id/*.h> (c files)
Replace the #include of <linux/mod_devicetable.h> by the more specific
<linux/device-id/*.h> where applicable. For most cases the include
can be dropped completely, only a few drivers need one or two headers
added.

8d13f7a845 hwrng: jh7110 - fix refcount leak in starfive_trng_read()
The starfive_trng_read() function acquires a runtime PM reference
via pm_runtime_get_sync() but fails to release it on two error
paths. If starfive_trng_wait_idle() or starfive_trng_cmd() returns
an error, the function exits without calling
pm_runtime_put_sync_autosuspend(), leaving the runtime PM usage
counter permanently elevated and preventing the device from entering
runtime suspend.

Refactor the function to use a unified error path that calls
pm_runtime_put_sync_autosuspend() before returning.

e3046eeada hwrng: virtio: clamp device-reported used.len at copy_data()
random_recv_done() stores the device-reported used.len directly into
vi->data_avail.  copy_data() then indexes vi->data[] using
vi->data_idx (advanced by previous copy_data() calls) and issues a
memcpy() without re-validating either value against the posted
buffer size sizeof(vi->data) (SMP_CACHE_BYTES bytes, typically 32
or 64).

A malicious or buggy virtio-rng backend can set used.len beyond
sizeof(vi->data), steering the memcpy() past the end of the inline
array into adjacent kmalloc-1k slab bytes. hwrng_fillfn() mixes
those bytes into the guest RNG, and guest root can also observe
them directly via /dev/hwrng.

Concrete impact is inside the guest:

 - Memory-safety / hardening: any virtio-rng backend that
over-reports used.len causes the driver to read past vi->data
into unrelated slab contents. hwrng_fillfn() is a kernel thread
that runs as soon as the device is probed; no guest userspace
interaction is required to first-trigger the OOB.

 - Cross-boundary leak (confidential-compute threat model): a
malicious hypervisor cooperating with a malicious or compromised
guest root userspace can use /dev/hwrng as a leak channel for
guest-kernel heap data. The host sets a large used.len, guest
root reads /dev/hwrng, and the returned bytes contain guest
kernel slab contents that were adjacent to vi->data. In
practice, confidential-compute guests (SEV-SNP, TDX) usually
disable virtio-rng entirely, so this path is narrow, but the
fix is still worth carrying because the underlying
memory-safety bug contaminates the guest RNG on any host.

KASAN confirms the OOB on a 7.1-rc4 guest whose virtio-rng backend
has been patched to report used.len = 0x10000:

  BUG: KASAN: slab-out-of-bounds in virtio_read+0x394/0x5d0

Same class of bug as commit c04db81cd0 ("net/9p: Fix buffer
overflow in USB transport layer"), which hardened
usb9pfs_rx_complete() against unchecked device-reported length in
the USB 9p transport.

With the clamp at point of use and array_index_nospec() in place,
the same harness boots cleanly: copy_data() returns zero for the
bogus report, the device-supplied bytes after data_idx are
discarded, and the driver issues a fresh request.

Mike Rapoport (Microsoft)
b8bce5f118 s390/trng: Replace __get_free_page() with kmalloc()
trng_read() allocates a temporary staging buffer for CPACF TRNG
random data before copying it to userspace.

This buffer can be allocated with kmalloc() as there's nothing special
about it to go directly to the page allocator.

kmalloc() provides a better API that does not require ugly casts and
kfree() does not need to know the size of the freed object.

Performance difference between kmalloc() and __get_free_pages() is not
measurable as both allocators take an object/page from a per-CPU list for
fast path allocations.

For the slow path the performance is anyway determined by the amount of
reclaim involved rather than by what allocator is used.

Replace use of __get_free_page() with kmalloc() and free_page() with
kfree().

Replace strlcat() with sysfs_emit_at() in rng_available_show() and add

is preferred for formatting sysfs output because it provides safer
bounds checking.

Inline mutex_lock_interruptible() and drop the now-unused local error

69f93dbb40 hwrng: drivers - Drop unused assignment to pci driver_data
Explicitly assigning 0 to driver_data in drivers not using this member
has no benefit. Drop these and similarly depend on the compiler to
zero-initialize the list terminator.

This is a preparation for making struct pci_device_id::driver_data an
anonymous union (which makes initializing using a list expression fail),
but it's also a nice cleanup by itself.

It was verified on x86 and arm64 that this change doesn't introduce
changes to the compiled drivers.

066d65adf8 hwrng: mtk - add support for hw access via SMCC
Newer versions of ARM TrustedFirmware-A on MediaTek's ARMv8 SoCs no longer
allow accessing the TRNG from outside of the trusted firmware.
Instead, a vendor-defined custom Secure Monitor Call can be used to
acquire random bytes.

Add support for newer SoCs (MT7981, MT7987, MT7988).

As TF-A for the MT7986 may either follow the old or the new
convention, the best bet is to test if firmware blocks direct access
to the hwrng and if so, expect the SMCC interface to be usable.

bf4afc53b7 Convert 'alloc_obj' family to use the new default GFP_KERNEL argument
This was done entirely with mindless brute force, using

    git grep -l '\<k[vmz]*alloc_objs*(.*, GFP_KERNEL)' |
        xargs sed -i 's/\(alloc_objs*(.*\), GFP_KERNEL)/\1)/'

to convert the new alloc_obj() users that had a simple GFP_KERNEL
argument to just drop that argument.

Note that due to the extreme simplicity of the scripting, any slightly
more complex cases spread over multiple lines would not be triggered:
they definitely exist, but this covers the vast bulk of the cases, and
the resulting diff is also then easier to check automatically.

For the same reason the 'flex' versions will be done as a separate
conversion.

69050f8d6d treewide: Replace kmalloc with kmalloc_obj for non-scalar types
This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from
scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. The script is designed to
avoid scalar types (which need careful case-by-case checking), and
instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union
object instances:

Single allocations:	kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...)

Array allocations:	kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...)

Flex array allocations:	kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...)

(where TYPE may also be *VAR)

The resulting allocations no longer return "void *", instead returning
"TYPE *".

cc2f39d6ac hwrng: core - use RCU and work_struct to fix race condition
Currently, hwrng_fill is not cleared until the hwrng_fillfn() thread
exits. Since hwrng_unregister() reads hwrng_fill outside the rng_mutex
lock, a concurrent hwrng_unregister() may call kthread_stop() again on
the same task.

Additionally, if hwrng_unregister() is called immediately after
hwrng_register(), the stopped thread may have never been executed. Thus,
hwrng_fill remains dirty even after hwrng_unregister() returns. In this
case, subsequent calls to hwrng_register() will fail to start new
threads, and hwrng_unregister() will call kthread_stop() on the same
freed task. In both cases, a use-after-free occurs:

refcount_t: addition on 0; use-after-free.
WARNING: ... at lib/refcount.c:25 refcount_warn_saturate+0xec/0x1c0
Call Trace:
 kthread_stop+0x181/0x360
 hwrng_unregister+0x288/0x380
 virtrng_remove+0xe3/0x200

This patch fixes the race by protecting the global hwrng_fill pointer
inside the rng_mutex lock, so that hwrng_fillfn() thread is stopped only
once, and calls to kthread_run() and kthread_stop() are serialized
with the lock held.

To avoid deadlock in hwrng_fillfn() while being stopped with the lock
held, we convert current_rng to RCU, so that get_current_rng() can read
current_rng without holding the lock. To remove the lock from put_rng(),
we also delay the actual cleanup into a work_struct.

Since get_current_rng() no longer returns ERR_PTR values, the IS_ERR()
checks are removed from its callers.

With hwrng_fill protected by the rng_mutex lock, hwrng_fillfn() can no
longer clear hwrng_fill itself. Therefore, if hwrng_fillfn() returns
directly after current_rng is dropped, kthread_stop() would be called on
a freed task_struct later. To fix this, hwrng_fillfn() calls schedule()
now to keep the task alive until being stopped. The kthread_stop() call
is also moved from hwrng_unregister() to drop_current_rng(), ensuring
kthread_stop() is called on all possible paths where current_rng becomes
NULL, so that the thread would not wait forever.

c0008a29a0 hwrng: airoha - set rng quality to 900
Airoha uses RAW mode to collect noise from the TRNG. These appear to
be unprocessed oscillations from the tero loop. For this reason, they
do not have a perfect distribution and entropy. Simple noise compression
reduces its size by 9%, so setting the quality to 900 seems reasonable.
The same value is used by the downstream driver.

Compare the size before and after compression:

bd2b617c49 virtio-rng: fix DMA alignment for data buffer
The data buffer in struct virtrng_info is used for DMA_FROM_DEVICE via
virtqueue_add_inbuf() and shares cachelines with the adjacent
CPU-written fields (data_avail, data_idx).

The device writing to the DMA buffer and the CPU writing to adjacent
fields could corrupt each other's data on non-cache-coherent platforms.

Add __dma_from_device_group_begin()/end() annotations to place these
in distinct cache lines.

c3d17464f0 s390: Remove KMSG_COMPONENT macro
The KMSG_COMPONENT macro is a leftover of the s390 specific "kernel
message catalog" which never made it upstream.

Remove the macro in order to get rid of a pointless indirection. Replace
all users with the string it defines. In almost all cases this leads to a
simple replacement like this:

 - #define KMSG_COMPONENT "appldata"
 - #define pr_fmt(fmt) KMSG_COMPONENT ": " fmt
 + #define pr_fmt(fmt) "appldata: " fmt

Except for some special cases this is just mechanical/scripted work.

3b1307e1cd sparc: Replace __ASSEMBLY__ with __ASSEMBLER__ in non-uapi headers
While the GCC and Clang compilers already define __ASSEMBLER__
automatically when compiling assembly code, __ASSEMBLY__ is a
macro that only gets defined by the Makefiles in the kernel.
This can be very confusing when switching between userspace
and kernelspace coding, or when dealing with uapi headers that
rather should use __ASSEMBLER__ instead. So let's standardize on
the __ASSEMBLER__ macro that is provided by the compilers now.

This is a completely mechanical patch (done with a simple "sed -i"
statement).

5cd459ebaa hwrng: cn10k - Remove the use of dev_err_probe()
Logging messages that show some type of "out of memory" error are generally
unnecessary as there is a generic message and a stack dump done by the
memory subsystem. These messages generally increase kernel size without
much added value[1].

The dev_err_probe() doesn't do anything when error is '-ENOMEM'. Therefore,
remove the useless call to dev_err_probe(), and just return the value
instead.

8f66ccbd8f hwrng: rockchip - add support for RK3576's RNG
The Rockchip RK3576 SoC uses a new hardware random number generator IP.
It's also used on the Rockchip RK3562 and the Rockchip RK3528.

It has several modes of operation and self-checking features that are
not implemented here. For starters, it has a DRNG output, which is an
AES-CTR pseudo-random number generator that can be reseeded from the
true entropy regularly.

However, it also allows for access of the true entropy generator
directly. This entropy is generated from an oscillator.

There are several configuration registers which we don't touch here. The
oscillator can be switched between a "CRO" and "STR" oscillator, and the
length of the oscillator can be configured.

The hardware also supports some automatic continuous entropy quality
checking, which is also not implemented in this driver for the time
being.

The output as-is has been deemed sufficient to be useful:

8eff8eb83f hwrng: rockchip - add support for rk3588's standalone TRNG
The RK3588 SoC includes several TRNGs, one part of the Crypto IP block,
and the other one (referred to as "trngv1") as a standalone new IP.

Add support for this new standalone TRNG to the driver by both
generalising it to support multiple different rockchip RNGs and then
implementing the required functionality for the new hardware.

This work was partly based on the downstream vendor driver by Rockchip's
Lin Jinhan, which is why they are listed as a Co-author.

While the hardware does support notifying the CPU with an IRQ when the
random data is ready, I've discovered while implementing the code to use
this interrupt that this results in significantly slower throughput of
the TRNG even when under heavy CPU load. I assume this is because with
only 32 bytes of data per invocation, the overhead of reinitialising a
completion, enabling the interrupt, sleeping and then triggering the
completion in the IRQ handler is way more expensive than busylooping.

Speaking of busylooping, the poll interval for reading the ISTAT is an
atomic read with a delay of 0. In my testing, I've found that this gives
us the largest throughput, and it appears the random data is ready
pretty much the moment we begin polling, as increasing the poll delay
leads to a drop in throughput significant enough to not just be due to
the poll interval missing the ideal timing by a microsecond or two.

According to downstream, the IP should take 1024 clock cycles to
generate 56 bits of random data, which at 150MHz should work out to
6.8us. I did not test whether the data really does take 256/56*6.8us
to arrive, though changing the readl to a __raw_readl makes no
difference in throughput, and this data does pass the rngtest FIPS
checks, so I'm not entirely sure what's going on but I presume it's got
something to do with the AHB bus speed and the memory barriers that
mainline's readl/writel functions insert.

The only other current SoC that uses this new IP is the Rockchip RV1106,
but that SoC does not have mainline support as of the time of writing,
so we make no effort to declare it as supported for now.
