83b25befc1 Docs/admin-guide/mm/damon/usage: clarify current_value of quota goals
The sysfs interface for DAMON quota goals includes a `current_value` file.
This file is not updated by the kernel and only serves to receive user
input.

Clarify in the documentation that the kernel does not update
`current_value`, and that reading it only has meaning when `target_metric`
is set to `user_input`.

While at it, fix missing commas in the goal files list.

7e6cc9f954 Docs/admin-guide/mm/damon/usage: mark scheme filters sysfs dir as deprecated
Patch series "mm/damon/sysfs: document filters/ directory as deprecated".

Commit ab71d2d301 ("mm/damon/sysfs-schemes: let
damon_sysfs_scheme_set_filters() be used for different named directories")
introduced alternatives of 'filters' directory, namely core_filters/ and
'ops_filters/ directories. Now the alternatives are well stabilized and
ready for all users. All filters/ directory use cases are expected to be
able to be migrated to the alternatives. An LTS kernel having the
alternatives, namely 6.18.y, is also released. Existence of filters/
directory is only confusing.

It would be better not immediately removing the directory, though. There
could be users that need time before migrating to the alternatives. There
might be unexpected use cases that the alternatives cannot support. Doing
the deprecation step by step across multiple years like DAMON debugfs
deprecation would be safer. Start the deprecation changes by announcing
the deprecation on the documents.

Every year, one more action for completely removing the directory will be
followed, like DAMON debugfs deprecation did. Following yearly actions
are currently expected. In 2027, deprecation warning kernel messages will
be printed once, for use of filters/ directory. In 2028, filters/
directory will be renamed to filters_DEPRECATED/. In 2029,
filters_DEPRECATED/ directory will be removed.

This patch (of 2):

The alternatives of 'filters/' directory, namely 'core_filters/' and
'ops_filters/', can fully support all the features 'filters/' directory
can do, and provide better user experience. Having 'filters/' directory
is only confusing to users. Announce it as deprecated on the usage
document.

0c13ed77dd Docs/admin-guide/mm/damon/lru_sort: warn commit_inputs vs param updates race
DAMON_LRU_SORT handles commit_inputs request inside kdamond thread,
reading the module parameters. If the user updates the module
parameters while the kdamond thread is reading those, races can happen.
To avoid this, the commit_inputs parameter shows whether it is still in
the progress, assuming users wouldn't update parameters in the middle of
the work. Some users might ignore that. Add a warning about the
behavior.

The issue was discovered in [1] by sashiko.

0beba407d4 Docs/admin-guide/mm/damon/reclaim: warn commit_inputs vs param updates race
Patch series "Docs/admin-guide/mm/damon: warn commit_inputs vs other
params race".

Writing 'Y' to the commit_inputs parameter of DAMON_RECLAIM and
DAMON_LRU_SORT, and writing other parameters before the commit_inputs
request is completely processed can cause race conditions. While the
consequence can be bad, the documentation is not clearly describing that.
Add clear warnings.

The issue was discovered [1,2] by sashiko.

6f1e182387 Docs/mm/damon: document min_nr_regions constraint and rationale
The current DAMON implementation requires 'min_nr_regions' to be at least
3. However, this constraint is not explicitly documented in the
admin-guide documents, nor is its design rationale explained in the design
document.

Add a section in design.rst to explain the rationale: the virtual address
space monitoring design needs to handle at least three regions to
accommodate two large unmapped areas. While this is specific to 'vaddr',
DAMON currently enforces it across all operation sets for consistency.

Also update reclaim.rst and lru_sort.rst by adding cross-references to
this constraint within their respective 'min_nr_regions' parameter
description sections, ensuring users are aware of the lower bound.

This change is motivated from a recent discussion [1].

bff3026320 Docs/admin-guide/mm/damon/start: add --target_pid to DAMOS example command
The example command doesn't work [1] on the latest DAMON user-space tool,
since --damos_action option is updated to receive multiple arguments, and
hence cannot know if the final argument is for deductible monitoring
target or an argument for --damos_action option. Add --target_pid option
to let damo understand it is for target pid.

Two of DAMON user-space tool (damo) commands that are used for examples on

functions with unified and simplified user interfaces. Also the example
output of 'damo show' is outdated. 'damo schemes' command is not
deprecated, but users are recommended to use 'damo start' or 'damo tune'
instead.

Update the examples to use the replacements, recommendations, and

eb14b12c8c Docs/admin-guide/mm/damon/usage: fix and add missing DAMOS filter sysfs files on files hierarchy
DAMOS filter directory part of DAMON sysfs files hierarchy on the usage
document is wrong. 'memcg_path' file under the directory is wrongly
written as 'memcg_id'. Also the directory has 'addr_start', 'addr_end',
and 'target_idx' files, but the list is missing those. Fix the wrong name
and add missing files.
