3d1ba5cbfb kselftest/arm64: Fix size of thread_data values for pthread_join()
pthread_join() stores the thread's return value (a "void *", i.e.
8 bytes on 64 bit computers) into the address that is passed as second
parameter. However, the entries of thread_data are only normal "int"s,
i.e. only 4 bytes. The additional 4 bytes of the return value clobber
whatever is adjacent on the stack, i.e. other members of the thread_data
array (which will be re-written in the next iteration of the for-loop,
so that nobody noticed this problem), or another other local variable
on the stack for the last iteration. Use "intptr_t" to declare the
thread_data array entries with the correct size.

bb52892f92 selftests/arm64: Fix MTE prctl TAP plan
The MTE prctl test emits one result from check_basic_read() followed by
one result for each of the seven entries in mte_modes[]. However, the TAP
plan only accounts for the array entries, producing:

  # Planned tests != run tests (7 != 8)

Include the basic read check in the plan so that all eight emitted results

1a0dba077f selftests/arm64: Treat KSM merge_across_nodes as optional
The MTE KSM test requires write access to KSM sysfs but does not check
that it is running as root. It also unconditionally saves, enables and
restores the merge_across_nodes attribute. The kernel only creates this
attribute when CONFIG_NUMA=y, so a non-NUMA kernel prints the following
message three times even though every KSM subtest passes:

  # ERR: missing /sys/kernel/mm/ksm/merge_across_nodes

Skip the test when it is not running as root. Check that the optional
attribute is readable and writable, treating ENOENT as its expected
absence on non-NUMA kernels and skipping the test for other access
failures. Only save, enable and restore the attribute when it is
available.

Check MTE availability before the privilege and sysfs checks so systems
without MTE retain the existing feature-unavailable skip result.

This preserves the existing behavior on NUMA kernels without requiring
NUMA or reducing KSM coverage on single-node systems.

8d2237e9d6 selftests/arm64: Print missing MTE TAP headers
Most MTE tests set a TAP plan and emit results without first printing
the TAP version header. Direct execution therefore starts with a plan
such as "1..20" instead of "TAP version 13".

The problem is particularly visible in the GCR_EL1 context-switch test.
It prints its plan before forking 1,024 child processes. When stdout is
fully buffered, the plan remains in the stdio buffer. Each child inherits
the pending "1..1" line and flushes its copy from exit(), producing
repeated plan lines.

ksft_print_header() prints the TAP header and enables line buffering.
Call it in every MTE test that is missing it. In the GCR_EL1 test, call
it before the plan so the plan is flushed before the children are
forked. In the remaining tests, call it before setup and prerequisite
checks so early failures and whole-test skips also retain the header.

2b989c411a kselftest/arm64: Don't write to P0 in irritator on SME only systems
Commit 3e360ef0c0 ("kselftest/arm64: Corrupt P0 in the irritator when

ensure that the predicate registers were covered as part of the
corruption. On SME only systems this results in an illegal instruction
since signal handlers are run out of streaming mode and the predicate
registers do not exist out of streaming mode without SVE. Switch to
entering and exiting streaming mode in the irritator, this will reset
all relevant registers to 0 if they somehow weren't already by the
signal entry.

21e37da120 kselftest/arm64: Add testcase for SECCOMP_RET_TRACE orig_x0 bypass
Add a selftest that verifies the kernel re-evaluates a seccomp filter
with the correct (ptrace-modified) first argument after
a SECCOMP_RET_TRACE stop. On arm64, syscall_get_arguments() reads
the first argument from orig_x0, which may be stale if the tracer modified
regs->regs[0] but orig_x0 was not synced. This can cause the filter to
see an old argument and incorrectly allow a syscall that it should
have rejected.

The child installs a filter that:
 - TRACEs write() when fd == 2
 - returns ERRNO(EPERM) when fd == 1

The parent catches the SECCOMP event, changes x0 (fd) from 2 to 1,
and resumes the child.

If the seccomp re-evaluation sees the stale orig_x0 (fd=2) the filter
returns TRACE again and the kernel (with recheck_after_trace=true)
allows the syscall to proceed – write succeeds and the child exits 0.
If the seccomp re-evaluation sees the new value (fd=1) the filter
returns ERRNO(EPERM), write fails and the child exits non-zero.
The test passes only when the write fails (child exit != 0).

Before the fix:
	# ./seccomp_ret_trace_x0_bypass
	TAP version 13
	1..1
not ok 1 write succeeded, orig_x0 bypass likely
	# Totals: pass:0 fail:1 xfail:0 xpass:0 skip:0 error:0

After the fix:
	# ./seccomp_ret_trace_x0_bypass
	TAP version 13
	1..1
ok 1 seccomp correctly denied modified syscall
	# Totals: pass:1 fail:0 xfail:0 xpass:0 skip:0 error:0

2fcbc4adf9 kselftest/arm64: Add seccomp ptrace x0 bypass test
As Kees suggested, add a test that verifies that seccomp observes the
correct first argument after a ptracer modifies x0 at a syscall-enter-stop
on arm64.

The first syscall argument and the return value share register x0.
The original value is saved in orig_x0 on entry and used by
syscall_get_arguments(), but ptrace changes to x0 were not
automatically reflected there. This test checks the kernel re-syncs
orig_x0 after a ptrace stop so that seccomp sees the modified
argument.

A seccomp filter allows write(2,...) and kills the task for any other
fd. The tracer changes fd from 2 to 1 at entry. If orig_x0 remains
stale, the child exits normally (bypass, test fails). If orig_x0 is
correctly updated, the child is killed by SIGSYS (test passes).

Before the fix:

bd290e7fc2 kselftest/arm64: fp-ptrace: Fix checks for inactive SVE and SSVE regsets
The checks on the header size reported for the inactive regset of the
NT_ARM_SVE/NT_ARM_SSVE pair compare it against sizeof(sve), but sve is
a struct user_sve_header *, so this is 8 rather than the intended 16.
The kernel carried the identical typo when filling in the header, so
kernel and test agreed on the wrong value and the test passed.

Compare against sizeof(*sve), stop after the header checks for an
inactive regset since it has no payload to compare, and prefill the
buffer with a sentinel to verify that reading an inactive regset
leaves everything after the header untouched. This also covers the
getter's return value, which determines how many bytes ptrace copies
back to userspace.

Note: td->pass is only set to true at the very end, as an unexpected

57a96356bb kselftest/arm64: Add HWCAP test for FEAT_LS64
Add tests for FEAT_LS64. Issue related instructions if feature
presents, no SIGILL should be received. When such instructions
operate on Device memory or non-cacheable memory, we may received
a SIGBUS during the test (w/o FEAT_LS64WB). Just ignore it since
we only tested whether the instruction itself can be issued as
expected on platforms declaring the support of such features.

2a369c4942 kselftest/arm64: Use syscall() macro over nolibc my_syscall()
The my_syscall*() macros are internal implementation details of nolibc.
Nolibc also provides the regular syscall(2), which is also a macro
and directly expands to the correct my_syscall().

Use syscall() instead.

As a side-effect this fixes some return value checks, as my_syscall()
returns the raw value as set by the kernel and does not set errno.

fb36d71308 kselftest/arm64: Support FORCE_TARGETS
The top level kselftest Makefile supports an option FORCE_TARGETS which
causes any failures during the build to be propagated to the exit status
of the top level make, useful during build testing. Currently the recursion
done by the arm64 selftests ignores this option, meaning arm64 failures are
not reported via this mechanism. Add the logic to implement FORCE_TARGETS
so that it works for arm64.

e6fbd1759c selftests: complete kselftest include centralization
This follow-up patch completes centralization of kselftest.h and
ksefltest_harness.h includes in remaining seltests files, replacing all

Tested with gcc-13.3 and clang-18.1, and cross-compiled successfully on

a0245b42f8 kselftest/arm64: Cover disabling streaming mode without SVE in fp-ptrace
On a system which support SME but not SVE we can now disable streaming mode
via ptrace by writing FPSIMD formatted data through NT_ARM_SVE with a VL of
0. Extend fp-ptrace to cover rather than skip these cases, relax the check
for SVE writes of FPSIMD format data to not skip if SME is supported and
accept 0 as the VL when performing the ptrace write.

a7717cad61 kselftest/arm64: Align zt-test register dumps
The zt-test output is awkward to read, as the 'Expected' value isn't
dumped on its own line and isn't aligned with the 'Got' value beneath.
For example:

  Mismatch: PID=5281, iteration=3270249 Expected [00a1146901a1146902a1146903a1146904a1146905a1146906a1146907a1146908a1146909a114690aa114690ba114690ca114690da114690ea114690fa11469]
          Got [00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000]
          SVCR: 2

Add a newline, matching the other FPSIMD/SVE/SME tests, so that we get
output that can be read more easily:

  Mismatch: PID=5281, iteration=3270249
          Expected [00a1146901a1146902a1146903a1146904a1146905a1146906a1146907a1146908a1146909a114690aa114690ba114690ca114690da114690ea114690fa11469]
          Got [00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000]
          SVCR: 2

Admittedly this isn't all that important when the 'Got' value is all
zeroes, but otherwise this would be a major help for identifying which
portion of the 'Got' value is not as expected.

5b7bdc4402 kselftest/arm64/gcs/basic-gcs: Respect parent directory CFLAGS
basic-gcs has it's own make rule to handle the special compiler
invocation to build against nolibc. This rule does not respect the
$(CFLAGS) passed by the Makefile from the parent directory.
However these $(CFLAGS) set up the include path to include the UAPI
headers from the current kernel.
Due to this the asm/hwcap.h header is used from the toolchain instead of
the UAPI and the definition of HWCAP_GCS is not found.

Restructure the rule for basic-gcs to respect the $(CFLAGS).
Also drop those options which are already provided by $(CFLAGS).
