The failure to find a table of metrics with a CPUID shouldn't early
exit as the metric code will now also consider the default table.
When searching for a metric or metric group,
pmu_metrics_table__for_each_metric() considers all tables and so the
caller doesn't need to switch the table to do this.

Some Default group metrics require their events showing for
consistency with perf's previous behavior. Add a flag to indicate when
this is the case and use it in stat-display.
As events are coming from Default metrics remove that default hardware
and software events from perf stat.
Following this change the default perf stat output on an alderlake looks like:

Rather than using the first evsel in the matched events, try to find
the least shared non-tool evsel. The aim is to pick the first evsel
that typifies the metric within the list of metrics.
This addresses an issue where Default metric group metrics may lose
their counter value due to how the stat displaying hides counters for
default event/metric output.
For a metricgroup like TopdownL1 on an Intel Alderlake the change is,
before there are 4 events with metrics:

Thresholds can increase the number of counters a metric needs. The NMI
watchdog can take away a counter (hopefully the buddy watchdog will
become the default and this will no longer be true). Add a new
constraint for the case that a metric and its thresholds would fit in
counters but only if the NMI watchdog isn't enabled. Either the
threshold or the NMI watchdog should be disabled to make the metric
fit. Wire this up into the metric__group_events logic.

The rblist of metric_event that then have a list of associated
metric_expr is moved out of the stat_config and into the evlist. This
is done as part of refactoring things for python, having the state
split in two places complicates that implementation. The evlist is
doing the harder work of enabling and disabling events, the metrics
are needed to compute a value and it doesn't seem unreasonable to hang
them from the evlist.

The 'perf stat --cputype' option can be used to filter which metrics
will be applied, for this reason the JSON metrics have an associated
PMU.
List this PMU name in the 'perf list' output in JSON mode so that
tooling may access it.

Unlike with events, metrics can be matched by name or a list of metric
groups.
However, when a metric refers to another metric it isn't referring to a
group but the singular metric in question.
Prior to this change every "id" in a metric expression is checked to see
if it is a metric by scanning all the metrics in the metrics table.
As the table is sorted my metric name we can speed the search in the
resolution case by binary searching for the metric.
Rename some of the metricgroup functions to make it clearer whether
they match a metric by name or by both name and group.

Rather than treat tool events as a special kind of event, create a
tool only PMU where the events/aliases match the existing
duration_time, user_time and system_time events. Remove special
parsing and printing support for the tool events, but add function
calls for when PMU functions are called on a tool_pmu.
Move the tool PMU code in evsel into tool_pmu.c to better encapsulate
the tool event behavior in that file.

"evsel->pmu_name" is only ever assigned a strdup of "pmu->name", a
strdup of "evsel->pmu_name" or NULL. As such, prefer to use
"pmu->name" directly and even to directly compare PMUs than PMU
names. For safety, add some additional NULL tests.

Rather than passing a fake PMU around, just pass that the fake PMU
should be used - true when doing testing. Move the fake PMU into
pmus.[ch] and try to abstract the PMU's properties in pmu.c, ie so
there is less "if fake_pmu" in non-PMU code. Give the fake PMU a made
up type number.

The next commit will allow tracepoints starting with digits, but most
systems do not have any available by default so tests should skip the
actual "check if it exists in /sys/kernel/debug/tracing" step.
In order to do that, add a new boolean flag specifying if we should
actually "format" the probe or not.

Rather than place metrics without a metric group in "No_group" place
them in a a metric group that is their name. Still allow such metrics
to be selected if "No_group" is passed, this change just impacts perf

The metric match function fails for cases like looking for "metric" in
the string "all;foo_metric;metric" as the "metric" in "foo_metric"
matches but isn't preceeded by a ';'. Fix this by matching the first
list item and recursively matching on failure the next item after a
semicolon.

A metric is default by having "Default" within its groups. The default
metricgroup name needn't be set and this can result in segv in
default_metricgroup_cmp and perf_stat__print_shadow_stats_metricgroup
that assume it has a value when there is a Default metric group. To
avoid the segv initialize the value to "".

The jevent "Compat" is used for uncore PMU alias or metric definitions.
The same PMU driver has different PMU identifiers due to different
hardware versions and types, but they may have some common PMU metric.
Since a Compat value can only match one identifier, when adding the
same metric to PMUs with different identifiers, each identifier needs
to be defined once, which is not streamlined enough.
So let "Compat" support using regular expression to match multiple
identifiers for uncore PMU metric.

The new default mode will print the metrics as a metric group. The
metrics from the same metric group must be adjacent to each other in the
metric list. But the metric_list_cmp() sorts metrics by the number of
events.
Add a new sort for the Default metricgroup, which sorts by
default_metricgroup_name and metric_name.
Add is_default in the struct metric_event to indicate that it's from
the Default metricgroup.
Store the displayed metricgroup name of the Default metricgroup into
the metric expr for output.

Introduce a new metricgroup, Default, to tag all the metric groups which
will be collected in the default mode.
Add a new field, DefaultMetricgroupName, in the JSON file to indicate
the real metric group name. It will be printed in the default output
to replace the event names.
There is nothing changed for the output format.
On SPR, both TopdownL1 and TopdownL2 are displayed in the default
output.
On ARM, Intel ICL and later platforms (before SPR), only TopdownL1 is
displayed in the default output.

The no group check fails if there is more than one meticgroup in the
metricgroup_no_group.
The first parameter of the match_metric() should be the string, while
the substring should be the second parameter.

perf_pmus__has_hybrid was used to detect when there was >1 core PMU,
this can be achieved with perf_pmus__num_core_pmus that doesn't depend
upon is_pmu_hybrid and PMU name comparisons. When modifying the
function calls take the opportunity to improve comments,
enable/simplify tests that were previously failing for hybrid but now
pass and to simplify generic code.

Ids/events from a metric are turned into an event string and parsed;
setup_metric_events matches the id back to the parsed evsel. With
hybrid the same event may exist on both PMUs with the same name and be
being used by metrics at the same time. A metric on cpu_core therefore
shouldn't match against evsels on cpu_atom, or the metric will compute
the wrong value. Make the matching sensitive to the PMU being parsed.

Hybrid systems may define the same metric for different PMUs, this can
cause confusion of events. To avoid this make the referenced metric
searches PMU specific, matching that in the table.

Some metric groups have metrics that don't have fully overlapping
events, meaning that the group's events become unique event groups that
may need to multiplex with each other. This can be particularly
unfortunate when the groups wouldn't need to multiplex because there are
sufficient hardware counters.
Add a flag so that if recording a metric group then the metrics within
the group needn't use groups for their events. The flag is added to
Intel TopdownL1 and TopdownL2 metrics.

Do defensive programming by using zfree() to initialize freed pointers
to NULL, so that eventual use after free result in a NULL pointer deref
instead of more subtle behaviour.
This file already used zfree() in other places, so this just plugs some
leftovers.

Use if an event is reordered or the number of groups increases to
signal that regrouping has happened and warn about it. Disable the
warning in the case wild card PMU names are used and for metrics.

Request the topdown metric group of a level with the metrics in the
group 'TopdownL<level>' rather than through specific events. As more
topdown levels are supported this way, such as 6 on Intel Ice Lake,
default to just showing the level 1 metrics. This can be overridden
using '--td-level'. Rather than determine the maximum topdown level
from sysfs, use the metric group names. Remove some now unused topdown
code.

When there are no events and on Intel, the topdown events will be
added by default if present. To display the metrics associated with
these request special handling in stat-shadow.c. To more easily update
these metrics use the json metric version via the TopdownL1
group. This makes the handling less platform specific.
Modify the metricgroup__has_metric code to also cover metric groups.

Thresholds may need additional events, this can impact things like
sharing groups of events to avoid multiplexing. Add a flag to make the
threshold calculations optional. The threshold will still be computed
if no additional events are necessary.

Compute the threshold metric and use it to color the metric value as
red or green. The threshold expression is used to generate the set of
events as the threshold may require additional events. A later patch
make this behavior optional with a --metric-no-threshold flag.
