dba0bfded4 ALSA: firewire: Drop redundant mod_devicetable.h includes
The ALSA FireWire driver headers include <linux/firewire.h>, which
already provides struct ieee1394_device_id via
<linux/device-id/ieee1394.h>.

Drop the now-redundant direct <linux/mod_devicetable.h> includes
from the per-device headers.

29b9667982 ALSA: firewire: isight: bound the sample count to the packet payload
isight_packet() takes the frame count from the device iso packet and
checks it only against the device claimed iso length.

	count = be32_to_cpu(payload->sample_count);
	if (likely(count <= (length - 16) / 4))
		isight_samples(isight, payload->samples, count);

length is the iso header data_length. It can be up to 0xffff. So the
gate allows a count up to about 16379. isight_samples() then copies
count frames out of payload->samples into the PCM DMA buffer.

payload->samples holds only 2 * MAX_FRAMES_PER_PACKET values. The
device multiplexes two samples per frame. A count past
MAX_FRAMES_PER_PACKET reads past the payload. A count past the buffer
size writes past runtime->dma_area. The smallest PCM buffer is larger
than MAX_FRAMES_PER_PACKET. Bounding the count to MAX_FRAMES_PER_PACKET
keeps both the read and the write in range.

A malicious or faulty Apple iSight on the FireWire bus reaches this
during a normal capture.

Add the MAX_FRAMES_PER_PACKET bound to the gate.

aff3ca32f3 firewire updates for v7.2
This update includes the following changes.
 
 Unit drivers have been able to assign an arbitrary value in the mod_device
 entry, which is typed as kernel_ulong_t. While storing the pointer value
 is legitimate, conversion back to a pointer has been performed without
 preserving const qualifier. Uwe Kleine-König introduced an union to
 provide safer and more robust conversions, as part of the ongoing CHERI
 enhancement work for ARM and RISC-V architectures. This update includes
 changes in the sound subsystem, since the conversion pattern is widely
 used in ALSA firewire stack.
 
 The userspace applications can request the core function to perform
 isochronous resource management procedures. Dingsoul reported
 reference-count leak when these procedures are processed in workqueue
 contexts. This update refactors the relevant code paths following a divide
 and conquer approach. Consequently, it became clear that the issue still
 remain only in the path when userspace applications delegate automatic
 resource reallocation after bus resets to the core. In practice, the leak
 is rarely triggered, and a complete fix is still in progress.

98fb1c1bb1 ALSA: firewire-motu: Protect register DSP event queue positions
The register DSP event queue is updated under parser->lock, but
snd_motu_register_dsp_message_parser_count_event() reads pull_pos and
push_pos without the lock.
snd_motu_register_dsp_message_parser_copy_event() also reads both queue
positions before taking the lock.

Protect these accesses with parser->lock as well. This keeps the hwdep
poll/read path consistent with the producer side and with the cached
meter/parameter accessors.

0749daa8eb ALSA: firewire-tascam: Do not drop unread control events
tscm_hwdep_read_queue() copies as many queued control events as fit in
the userspace buffer. When the buffer is smaller than the current
contiguous queue segment, length is rounded down to the number of bytes
that can be copied.

However, after copying that shortened length, the code advances pull_pos
to the original tail_pos, marking the whole contiguous segment as
consumed. Any events between the copied portion and tail_pos are lost.

Limit tail_pos to the position after the entries actually copied before
updating pull_pos. When the whole segment fits, this is equivalent to the
old tail_pos update; when the buffer is smaller, the remaining events
stay queued for the next read.

07704bbf36 ALSA: fireworks: bound device-supplied status before string array lookup
The status field in an EFW response is a 32-bit value supplied by the
firewire device.  efr_status_names[] has 17 entries so a status value
outside that range goes off into the weeds when looking at the %s value.

Even worse, the status could return EFR_STATUS_INCOMPLETE which is
0x80000000, and is obviously not in that array of potential strings.

Fix this up by properly bounding the index against the array size and
printing "unknown" if it's not recognized.

bb120ad57d ALSA: firewire-lib: fix uninitialized local variable
Similar to commit d8dc872046 ("ALSA: firewire-lib: fix uninitialized
local variable"), the local variable `curr_cycle_time` in
process_rx_packets() is declared without initialization.

When the tracepoint event is not probed, the variable may appear to be
used without being initialized. In practice the value is only relevant
when the tracepoint is enabled, however initializing it avoids potential
use of an uninitialized value and improves code safety.

Initialize `curr_cycle_time` to zero.

bf4afc53b7 Convert 'alloc_obj' family to use the new default GFP_KERNEL argument
This was done entirely with mindless brute force, using

    git grep -l '\<k[vmz]*alloc_objs*(.*, GFP_KERNEL)' |
        xargs sed -i 's/\(alloc_objs*(.*\), GFP_KERNEL)/\1)/'

to convert the new alloc_obj() users that had a simple GFP_KERNEL
argument to just drop that argument.

Note that due to the extreme simplicity of the scripting, any slightly
more complex cases spread over multiple lines would not be triggered:
they definitely exist, but this covers the vast bulk of the cases, and
the resulting diff is also then easier to check automatically.

For the same reason the 'flex' versions will be done as a separate
conversion.

69050f8d6d treewide: Replace kmalloc with kmalloc_obj for non-scalar types
This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from
scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. The script is designed to
avoid scalar types (which need careful case-by-case checking), and
instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union
object instances:

Single allocations:	kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...)

Array allocations:	kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...)

Flex array allocations:	kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...)

(where TYPE may also be *VAR)

The resulting allocations no longer return "void *", instead returning
"TYPE *".

6b617317e5 ALSA: firewire: remove PCM buffer size constraint from isoc context header
In the IEC 61883-1/6 packet streaming engine, the isochronous context
header stores CIP headers. Previously, the header storage was limited to
PAGE_SIZE, which constrained the maximum PCM buffer size.

There is a function with configurable header size. Now the limitation is
removed.

210d77cca3 ALSA: firewire-motu: fix buffer overflow in hwdep read for DSP events
The DSP event handling code in hwdep_read() could write more bytes to
the user buffer than requested, when a user provides a buffer smaller
than the event header size (8 bytes).

Fix by using min_t() to clamp the copy size, This ensures we never copy
more than the user requested.

324f3e03e8 ALSA: dice: fix buffer overflow in detect_stream_formats()
The function detect_stream_formats() reads the stream_count value directly
from a FireWire device without validating it. This can lead to
out-of-bounds writes when a malicious device provides a stream_count value
greater than MAX_STREAMS.

Fix by applying the same validation to both TX and RX stream counts in
detect_stream_formats().

28bcb21696 ALSA: dice: add support for TASCAM IF-FW/DM MkII
TEAC Corporation launched IF-FW/DM MkII as an add-in card for TASCAM
DM-3200 and DM-4800. This card uses TC Applied Technologies DICE II
ASIC.

This commit supports the add-in card. The configuration ROM content
includes some quirks:

- The category value stored in chip_ID_hi field of bus information block
  is zero.
- The value of model in unit directory (0x00022e) is different from the
  one in root directory (0x000006).

The hardware allows users to select the total number of audio data channels
available for system from 16 and 32 channels for both input and output
direction. In 16-channel mode,  all audio data are transferred in a
single isochronous packet stream, while in 32-channel mode, they are
transferred across two streams. After the user changes the channel
configuration on the hardware panel, the device temporarily disappears
from the bus and reappears with the new stream formats. During device
probing the ALSA dice driver checks the number of available isochronous
packet streams to determine the active mode of the hardware.

dbd0cf204f ALSA: firewire-tascam: reserve resources for transferred isochronous packets at S400
TASCAM FW-1884/FW-1804/FW-1082 have a quirk that they often freeze when
receiving isochronous packets at S400. This behaviour is suppressed by a
new quirk flag added in Linux FireWire core to restrict maximum speed.
Consequently both of the asynchronous transactions and isochronous
transmissions are done at S200. However, the device still transfers
isochronous packet at S400, and the way to indicate the transmission
speed is not cleared yet.

This commit correctly reserves isochronous resources for the transferred
packet stream at S400. As a beneficial side effect, the pair of
isochronous transmissions for FW-1884 fits within the bandwidth capacity
of the bus.

aea3493246 ALSA: firewire-motu: drop EPOLLOUT from poll return values as write is not supported
The ALSA HwDep character device of the firewire-motu driver incorrectly
returns EPOLLOUT in poll(2), even though the driver implements no operation
for write(2). This misleads userspace applications to believe write() is
allowed, potentially resulting in unnecessarily wakeups.

This issue dates back to the driver's initial code added by a commit
71c3797779 ("ALSA: firewire-motu: add hwdep interface"), and persisted
when POLLOUT was updated to EPOLLOUT by a commit a9a08845e9 ('vfs: do
bulk POLL* -> EPOLL* replacement("").').

This commit fixes the bug.
