e4bdef4d32 ipv4: use WARN_ON_ONCE() in ip_rt_bug()
It turns out ip_rt_bug() can be called more than expected.

syzbot will still panic (because of panic_on_warn=1), but non debug
kernels will no longer die while repeating stack traces on the console.

d98adfbdd5 ipv4: drop ipv6_stub usage and use direct function calls
As IPv6 is built-in only, the ipv6_stub infrastructure is no longer
necessary.

The IPv4 stack interacts with IPv6 mainly to support IPv4 routes with
IPv6 next-hops (RFC 8950). Convert all these cross-family calls from
ipv6_stub to direct function calls. The fallback functions introduced
previously will prevent linkage errors when CONFIG_IPV6 is disabled.

bf4afc53b7 Convert 'alloc_obj' family to use the new default GFP_KERNEL argument
This was done entirely with mindless brute force, using

    git grep -l '\<k[vmz]*alloc_objs*(.*, GFP_KERNEL)' |
        xargs sed -i 's/\(alloc_objs*(.*\), GFP_KERNEL)/\1)/'

to convert the new alloc_obj() users that had a simple GFP_KERNEL
argument to just drop that argument.

Note that due to the extreme simplicity of the scripting, any slightly
more complex cases spread over multiple lines would not be triggered:
they definitely exist, but this covers the vast bulk of the cases, and
the resulting diff is also then easier to check automatically.

For the same reason the 'flex' versions will be done as a separate
conversion.

69050f8d6d treewide: Replace kmalloc with kmalloc_obj for non-scalar types
This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from
scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. The script is designed to
avoid scalar types (which need careful case-by-case checking), and
instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union
object instances:

Single allocations:	kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...)

Array allocations:	kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...)

Flex array allocations:	kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...)

(where TYPE may also be *VAR)

The resulting allocations no longer return "void *", instead returning
"TYPE *".

9a6f0c4d57 dst: fix races in rt6_uncached_list_del() and rt_del_uncached_list()
syzbot was able to crash the kernel in rt6_uncached_list_flush_dev()
in an interesting way [1]

Crash happens in list_del_init()/INIT_LIST_HEAD() while writing
list->prev, while the prior write on list->next went well.

Issue here is that rt6_uncached_list_del() did not attempt to lock
ul->lock, as list_empty(&rt->dst.rt_uncached) returned
true because the WRITE_ONCE(list->next, list) happened on the other CPU.

We might use list_del_init_careful() and list_empty_careful(),
or make sure rt6_uncached_list_del() always grabs the spinlock
whenever rt->dst.rt_uncached_list has been set.

A similar fix is neeed for IPv4.

48a4aa9d9c ipv4: Improve martian logs
At the current moment, the logs for martian packets are as follows:

```

These messages feel rather hard to understand in production, especially
the "martian source" one, mostly because it is grammatically ambitious
to parse which part is now the source address and which part is the
destination address.  For example, "{DST}" may there be interpreted as
the actual source address due to following the word "source", thereby
implying the actual source address to be the destination one.

Personally, I discovered this bug while toying around with TUN
interfaces and using them as a tunnel (receiving packets via a TUN
interface and sending them over a TCP stream; receiving packets from a
TCP stream and writing them to a TUN).[^1]

When these IP addresses contained local IPs (i.e. 10.0.0.0/8 in source
and destination), everything worked fine.  However, sending them to a
real routable IP address on the internet led to them being treated as a
martian packet, obviously.  Using a few sysctl(8) and iptables(8)
settings[^2] fixed it, but while debugging I found the log message
starting with "martian source" rather confusing, as I was unsure on
whether the packet that gets dropped was the packet originating from me
or the response from the endpoint, as "martian source <ROUTABLE IP>"
could also be falsely interpreted as the response packet being martian,
due to the word "source" followed by the routable IP address, implying
the source address of that packet is set to this IP, as explained above.
In the end, I had to look into the source code of the kernel on where
this error message gets generated, which is usually an indicator of
there being room for improvement with regard to this error message.

In terms of improvement, this commit changes the error messages for
martian source and martian destination packets as follows:

These new wordings leave pretty much no room for ambiguity as all
parameters are prefixed with a respective key explaining their semantic
meaning.

ac1499fcd4 ipv4: route: Prevent rt_bind_exception() from rebinding stale fnhe
The sit driver's packet transmission path calls: sit_tunnel_xmit() ->
update_or_create_fnhe(), which lead to fnhe_remove_oldest() being called
to delete entries exceeding FNHE_RECLAIM_DEPTH+random.

The race window is between fnhe_remove_oldest() selecting fnheX for
deletion and the subsequent kfree_rcu(). During this time, the
concurrent path's __mkroute_output() -> find_exception() can fetch the
soon-to-be-deleted fnheX, and rt_bind_exception() then binds it with a
new dst using a dst_hold(). When the original fnheX is freed via RCU,
the dst reference remains permanently leaked.

This issue manifests as a device reference count leak and a warning in
dmesg when unregistering the net device:

  unregister_netdevice: waiting for sitX to become free. Usage count = N

Ido Schimmel provided the simple test validation method [1].

The fix clears 'oldest->fnhe_daddr' before calling fnhe_flush_routes().
Since rt_bind_exception() checks this field, setting it to zero prevents
the stale fnhe from being reused and bound to a new dst just before it
is freed.

0d3c4a4416 ipv4: icmp: Pass IPv4 control block structure as an argument to __icmp_send()
__icmp_send() is used to generate ICMP error messages in response to
various situations such as MTU errors (i.e., "Fragmentation Required")
and too many hops (i.e., "Time Exceeded").

The skb that generated the error does not necessarily come from the IPv4
layer and does not always have a valid IPv4 control block in skb->cb.

Therefore, commit 9ef6b42ad6 ("net: Add __icmp_send helper.") changed
the function to take the IP options structure as argument instead of
deriving it from the skb's control block. Some callers of this function
such as icmp_send() pass the IP options structure from the skb's control
block as in these call paths the control block is known to be valid, but
other callers simply pass a zeroed structure.

A subsequent patch will need __icmp_send() to access more information
from the IPv4 control block (specifically, the ifindex of the input
interface). As a preparation for this change, change the function to
take the IPv4 control block structure as an argument instead of the IP
options structure. This makes the function similar to its IPv6
counterpart that already takes the IPv6 control block structure as an
argument.

No functional changes intended.

5189446ba9 net: ipv4: fix regression in local-broadcast routes
Commit 9e30ecf23b ("net: ipv4: fix incorrect MTU in broadcast routes")
introduced a regression where local-broadcast packets would have their
gateway set in __mkroute_output, which was caused by fi = NULL being
removed.

Fix this by resetting the fib_info for local-broadcast packets. This
preserves the intended changes for directed-broadcast packets.

1bec9d0c00 ipv4: Convert ->flowi4_tos to dscp_t.
Convert the ->flowic_tos field of struct flowi_common from __u8 to
dscp_t, rename it ->flowic_dscp and propagate these changes to struct
flowi and struct flowi4.

We've had several bugs in the past where ECN bits could interfere with
IPv4 routing, because these bits were not properly cleared when setting
->flowi4_tos. These bugs should be fixed now and the dscp_t type has
been introduced to ensure that variables carrying DSCP values don't
accidentally have any ECN bits set. Several variables and structure
fields have been converted to dscp_t already, but the main IPv4 routing
structure, struct flowi4, is still using a __u8. To avoid any future
regression, this patch converts it to dscp_t.

There are many users to convert at once. Fortunately, around half of
->flowi4_tos users already have a dscp_t value at hand, which they
currently convert to __u8 using inet_dscp_to_dsfield(). For all of
these users, we just need to drop that conversion.

But, although we try to do the __u8 <-> dscp_t conversions at the
boundaries of the network or of user space, some places still store
TOS/DSCP variables as __u8 in core networking code. Those can hardly be
converted either because the data structure is part of UAPI or because
the same variable or field is also used for handling ECN in other parts
of the code. In all of these cases where we don't have a dscp_t
variable at hand, we need to use inet_dsfield_to_dscp() when
interacting with ->flowi4_dscp.

1b8c5fa0cb net: ipv4: allow directed broadcast routes to use dst hint
Currently, ip_extract_route_hint uses RTN_BROADCAST to decide
whether to use the route dst hint mechanism.

This check is too strict, as it prevents directed broadcast
routes from using the hint, resulting in poor performance
during bursts of directed broadcast traffic.

Fix this in ip_extract_route_hint and modify ip_route_use_hint
to preserve the intended behaviour.

Currently, __mkroute_output overrules the MTU value configured for
broadcast routes.

This buggy behaviour can be reproduced with:

ip route add broadcast 192.168.0.255 dev eth1 proto kernel scope link src 192.168.0.2 mtu 1500

The maximum packet size should be 1500, but it is actually 8000:

ping -b 192.168.0.255 -s 8000

Fix __mkroute_output to allow MTU values to be configured for
for broadcast routes (to support a mixed-MTU local-area-network).

35bec72a24 net: ipv4: Add ip_mr_output()
Multicast routing is today handled in the input path. Locally generated MC
packets don't hit the IPMR code today. Thus if a VXLAN remote address is
multicast, the driver needs to set an OIF during route lookup. Thus MC
routing configuration needs to be kept in sync with the VXLAN FDB and MDB.
Ideally, the VXLAN packets would be routed by the MC routing code instead.

To that end, this patch adds support to route locally generated multicast
packets. The newly-added routines do largely what ip_mr_input() and
ip_mr_forward() do: make an MR cache lookup to find where to send the
packets, and use ip_mc_output() to send each of them. When no cache entry
is found, the packet is punted to the daemon for resolution.

However, an installation that uses a VXLAN underlay netdevice for which it
also has matching MC routes, would get a different routing with this patch.
Previously, the MC packets would be delivered directly to the underlay
port, whereas now they would be MC-routed. In order to avoid this change in
behavior, introduce an IPCB flag. Only if the flag is set will
ip_mr_output() actually engage, otherwise it reverts to ip_mc_output().

This code is based on work by Roopa Prabhu and Nikolay Aleksandrov.

The statistics are incremented with raw_cpu_inc() assuming it always
happens with bottom half disabled. Without per-CPU locking in

Use this_cpu_inc() on PREEMPT_RT for the increment to not worry about
preemption.

65e9024643 ip: load balance tcp connections to single dst addr and port
Load balance new TCP connections across nexthops also when they
connect to the same service at a single remote address and port.

This affects only port-based multipath hashing:
fib_multipath_hash_policy 1 or 3.

Local connections must choose both a source address and port when
connecting to a remote service, in ip_route_connect. This
"chicken-and-egg problem" (commit 2d7192d6cb ("ipv4: Sanitize and
simplify ip_route_{connect,newports}()")) is resolved by first
selecting a source address, by looking up a route using the zero
wildcard source port and address.

As a result multiple connections to the same destination address and
port have no entropy in fib_multipath_hash.

This is not a problem when forwarding, as skb-based hashing has a
4-tuple. Nor when establishing UDP connections, as autobind there
selects a port before reaching ip_route_connect.

Load balance also TCP, by using a random port in fib_multipath_hash.
Port assignment in inet_hash_connect is not atomic with
ip_route_connect. Thus ports are unpredictable, effectively random.

Implementation details:

Do not actually pass a random fl4_sport, as that affects not only
hashing, but routing more broadly, and can match a source port based
policy route, which existing wildcard port 0 will not. Instead,
define a new wildcard flowi flag that is used only for hashing.

Selecting a random source is equivalent to just selecting a random
hash entirely. But for code clarity, follow the normal 4-tuple hash
process and only update this field.

fib_multipath_hash can be reached with zero sport from other code
paths, so explicitly pass this flowi flag, rather than trying to infer
this case in the function itself.

32607a332c ipv4: prefer multipath nexthop that matches source address
With multipath routes, try to ensure that packets leave on the device
that is associated with the source address.

Avoid the following tcpdump example:

    veth0 Out IP 10.1.0.2.38640 > 10.2.0.3.8000: Flags [S]
    veth1 Out IP 10.1.0.2.38648 > 10.2.0.3.8000: Flags [S]

Which can happen easily with the most straightforward setup:

    ip addr add 10.0.0.1/24 dev veth0
    ip addr add 10.1.0.1/24 dev veth1

    ip route add 10.2.0.3 nexthop via 10.0.0.2 dev veth0 \
    			  nexthop via 10.1.0.2 dev veth1

This is apparently considered WAI, based on the comment in
ip_route_output_key_hash_rcu:

    * 2. Moreover, we are allowed to send packets with saddr
    *    of another iface. --ANK

It may be ok for some uses of multipath, but not all. For instance,
when using two ISPs, a router may drop packets with unknown source.

The behavior occurs because tcp_v4_connect makes three route
lookups when establishing a connection:

1. ip_route_connect calls to select a source address, with saddr zero.
2. ip_route_connect calls again now that saddr and daddr are known.
3. ip_route_newports calls again after a source port is also chosen.

With a route with multiple nexthops, each lookup may make a different
choice depending on available entropy to fib_select_multipath. So it
is possible for 1 to select the saddr from the first entry, but 3 to
select the second entry. Leading to the above situation.

Address this by preferring a match that matches the flowi4 saddr. This
will make 2 and 3 make the same choice as 1. Continue to update the
backup choice until a choice that matches saddr is found.

Do this in fib_select_multipath itself, rather than passing an fl4_oif
constraint, to avoid changing non-multipath route selection. Commit
e6b45241c5 ("ipv4: reset flowi parameters on route connect") shows
how that may cause regressions.

Also read ipv4.sysctl_fib_multipath_use_neigh only once. No need to
refresh in the loop.

This does not happen in IPv6, which performs only one lookup.

65a55aa7e6 ipv4: Prepare inet_rtm_getroute() to .flowi4_tos conversion.
Store rtm->rtm_tos in a dscp_t variable, which can then be used for
setting fl4.flowi4_tos and also be passed as parameter of
ip_route_input_rcu().

The .flowi4_tos field is going to be converted to dscp_t to ensure ECN
bits aren't erroneously taken into account during route lookups. Having
a dscp_t variable available will simplify that conversion, as we'll
just have to drop the inet_dscp_to_dsfield() call.

Note that we can't just convert rtm->rtm_tos to dscp_t because this
structure is exported to user space.

a853c60950 inetpeer: do not get a refcount in inet_getpeer()
All inet_getpeer() callers except ip4_frag_init() don't need
to acquire a permanent refcount on the inetpeer.

They can switch to full RCU protection.

Move the refcount_inc_not_zero() into ip4_frag_init(),
so that all the other callers no longer have to
perform a pair of expensive atomic operations on
a possibly contended cache line.

inet_putpeer() no longer needs to be exported.

After this patch, my DUT can receive 8,400,000 UDP packets
per second targeting closed ports, using 50% less cpu cycles
than before.

Also change two calls to l3mdev_master_ifindex() by
l3mdev_master_ifindex_rcu() (Ido ideas)

cdd0b9132d ip: Return drop reason if in_dev is NULL in ip_route_input_rcu().
syzkaller reported a warning in __sk_skb_reason_drop().

Commit 61b95c70f3 ("net: ip: make ip_route_input_rcu() return
drop reasons") missed a path where -EINVAL is returned.

Then, the cited commit started to trigger the warning with the
invalid error.

Let's fix it by returning SKB_DROP_REASON_NOT_SPECIFIED.

82d9983ebe net: ip: make ip_route_input_noref() return drop reasons
In this commit, we make ip_route_input_noref() return drop reasons, which
come from ip_route_input_rcu().

We need adjust the callers of ip_route_input_noref() to make sure the
return value of ip_route_input_noref() is used properly.

The errno that ip_route_input_noref() returns comes from ip_route_input
and bpf_lwt_input_reroute in the origin logic, and we make them return
-EINVAL on error instead. In the following patch, we will make
ip_route_input() returns drop reasons too.

37653a0b8a net: ip: make fib_validate_source() support drop reasons
In this commit, we make fib_validate_source() and __fib_validate_source()
return -reason instead of errno on error.

The return value of fib_validate_source can be -errno, 0, and 1. It's hard
to make fib_validate_source() return drop reasons directly.

The fib_validate_source() will return 1 if the scope of the source(revert)
route is HOST. And the __mkroute_input() will mark the skb with
IPSKB_DOREDIRECT in this case (combine with some other conditions). And
then, a REDIRECT ICMP will be sent in ip_forward() if this flag exists. We
can't pass this information to __mkroute_input if we make
fib_validate_source() return drop reasons.

Therefore, we introduce the wrapper fib_validate_source_reason() for
fib_validate_source(), which will return the drop reasons on error.

In the origin logic, LINUX_MIB_IPRPFILTER will be counted if
fib_validate_source() return -EXDEV. And now, we need to adjust it by
checking "reason == SKB_DROP_REASON_IP_RPFILTER". However, this will take
effect only after the patch "net: ip: make ip_route_input_noref() return
drop reasons", as we can't pass the drop reasons from
fib_validate_source() to ip_rcv_finish_core() in this patch.

Following new drop reasons are added in this patch:

  SKB_DROP_REASON_IP_LOCAL_SOURCE
  SKB_DROP_REASON_IP_INVALID_SOURCE

7d3f3b4367 net: ipv4: Cache pmtu for all packet paths if multipath enabled
Check number of paths by fib_info_num_path(),
and update_or_create_fnhe() for every path.
Problem is that pmtu is cached only for the oif
that has received icmp message "need to frag",
other oifs will still try to use "default" iface mtu.

When host1 tries to do pmtud from 10.179.20.18/32 to host2,
host1 receives at ens17f1 iface an icmp packet from ro3 that ro3 mtu=1500.
And host1 caches it in nexthop exceptions cache.

Problem is that it is cached only for the iface that has received icmp,
and there is no way that ro3 will send icmp msg to host1 via another path.

Host1 now have this routes to host2:

until lucky day when ro3 will send it through another flow to ens17f0.

Use ip4h_dscp() to get the DSCP from the IPv4 header, then convert the
dscp_t value to __u8 with inet_dscp_to_dsfield().

Then, when we'll convert .flowi4_tos to dscp_t, we'll just have to drop
the inet_dscp_to_dsfield() call.

465bac91f9 ipv4: Use rtnl_register_many().
We will remove rtnl_register() in favour of rtnl_register_many().

When it succeeds, rtnl_register_many() guarantees all rtnetlink types
in the passed array are supported, and there is no chance that a part
of message types is not supported.

Let's use rtnl_register_many() instead.
