__drm_atomic_helper_connector_hdmi_reset() is typically used to
initialize a newly allocated drm_connector_state when the connector is
using the HDMI helpers, and is being called by the
drm_connector_funcs.reset implementation.
Since we want to consolidate DRM objects state allocation around the
atomic_create_state callback that will only allocate and initialize a
new drm_connector_state instance, we will need to call
__drm_atomic_helper_connector_hdmi_reset() from both the reset and
atomic_create hooks.
To avoid any confusion, we can thus rename
__drm_atomic_helper_connector_hdmi_reset() to
__drm_atomic_helper_connector_hdmi_state_init().

The KMS framework uses two slightly different definitions for the state
concept. For a given object (plane, CRTC, encoder, etc., so
drm_$OBJECT_state), the state is the entire state of that object.
However, at the device level, drm_atomic_state refers to a state update
for a limited number of objects.
Thus, drm_atomic_state isn't the entire device state, but only the full
state of some objects in that device. This has been an endless source of
confusion and thus bugs.
We can rename the drm_atomic_state structure to drm_atomic_commit to
make it less confusing.
This patch was created using:

The hdmi_colorspace enum was defined to represent the colorspace value
of the HDMI infoframes. It was later used by some HDMI drivers to
express the output format they should be setting up.
During the introduction of the HDMI helpers, it then was used to
represent it in the drm_connector_hdmi_state structure.
However, it's always been somewhat redundant with the DRM_COLOR_FORMAT_*
defines, and now with the drm_output_color_format enum. Let's
consolidate around drm_output_color_format in drm_connector_hdmi_state
to facilitate the current effort to provide a global output format
selection mechanism.

Some USB-C hubs and adapters have buggy firmware where multi-byte AUX
reads consistently timeout, while single-byte reads from the same address
work correctly.
Known affected devices that exhibit this issue:
- Lenovo USB-C to VGA adapter (VIA VL817 chipset)
idVendor=17ef, idProduct=7217
- Dell DA310 USB-C mobile adapter hub
idVendor=413c, idProduct=c010
Analysis of the failure pattern shows:
- Single-byte probes to 0xf0000 (LTTPR) succeed
- Single-byte probes to 0x00102 (TRAINING_AUX_RD_INTERVAL) succeed
- Multi-byte reads from 0x00000 (DPCD capabilities) timeout with -ETIMEDOUT
- Retrying does not help - the failure is consistent across all attempts
The issue appears to be a firmware bug in the AUX transaction handling
that specifically affects multi-byte reads.
Add a fallback mechanism in drm_dp_dpcd_read_data() that attempts
byte-by-byte reading when the normal multi-byte read fails. This
workaround only activates for adapters that fail the standard read path,
ensuring no impact on correctly functioning hardware.
Tested with:
- Lenovo USB-C to VGA adapter (VIA VL817) - now works with fallback
- Dell DA310 USB-C hub - now works with fallback
- Dell/Analogix Slimport adapter - continues to work with normal path

Reading DPCD registers has side-effects and some of these can cause a
problem for instance during link training. Based on this it's better to
avoid the probing quirk done before each DPCD register read, limiting
this to the monitor which requires it. Add an EDID quirk for this. Leave
the quirk enabled by default, allowing it to be disabled after the
monitor is detected.

Add generic CEC helpers to be used by HDMI drivers. Both notifier and
and adapter are supported for registration. Once registered, the driver
can call common set of functions to update physical address, to
invalidate it or to unregister CEC data. Unlike drm_connector_cec_funcs
(which provides interface common to all implementations, including, but
not limited to the CEC adapter, CEC notifier, CEC pin-based adapter,
etc) the struct drm_connector_hdmi_cec_adapter_ops provides callbacks
specific to the CEC adapter implementations.

Some older NVIDIA and some newer NVIDIA hardware/firmware seems to
have issues with address only transactions (firmware rejects them).
Add an option to the core drm dp to avoid address only transactions,
This just puts the MOT flag removal on the last message of the transfer
and avoids the start of transfer transaction.
This with the flag set in nouveau, allows eDP probing on GB203 device.

HDMI standard defines recommended N and CTS values for Audio Clock
Regeneration. Currently each driver implements those, frequently in
somewhat unique way. Provide a generic helper for getting those values
to be used by the HDMI drivers.
The helper is added to drm_hdmi_helper.c rather than drm_hdmi_audio.c
since HDMI drivers can be using this helper function even without
switching to DRM HDMI Audio helpers.
Note: currently this only handles the values per HDMI 1.4b Section 7.2
and HDMI 2.0 Section 9.2.1. Later the table can be expanded to
accommodate for Deep Color TMDS char rates per HDMI 1.4 Appendix D
and/or HDMI 2.0 / 2.1 Appendix C).
