98e5b6d069 fbcon: Put font-rotation state into separate struct
Move all temporary state of the font-rotation code into the struct
rotated in struct fbcon_par. Protect it with the Kconfig symbol
CONFIG_FRAMEBUFFER_CONSOLE_ROTATION. Avoids mixing it up with fbcon's
regular state.

6903bd6920 fbcon: Fill cursor mask in helper function
Fbcon creates a cursor shape on the fly from the user-configured
settings. The logic to create a glyph with the cursor's bitmap mask
is duplicated in four places. In the cases that involve console
rotation, the implementation further rotates the cursor glyph for
displaying.

Consolidate all cursor-mask creation in a single helper. Update the
callers accordingly. For console rotation, use the glyph helpers to
rotate the created cursor glyph to the correct orientation.

c37bd7c8d3 lib/fonts: Store font data for user space with font_data_export()
Add font_data_export() and update consoles to use it.

The helper font_data_export() is based on code in fbcon_get_font().
It extends the size of a single glyph to match the requested vpitch,
which us usually 32 bytes for fonts from user space. Internal fonts
have a pitch according to the glyph's height.

The implementation of font_data_export() differs in several ways from
the original code. The original implementation distinguished between
different pitches of the font data. This is not necessary as the pitch
is a parameter in the copying.

There was also special handling for a font pitch of 3 bytes, which got
expanded to 4 bytes (with trailing bits on each scanline). The logic
originated from long before git history exists even in the historical
tree. So it is not clear why this was implemented. It is not what user
space expects. The setfont utitlity loads font with 3-bytes pitches and
expects to read such fonts with a 3-byte pitch. For any font width, the
font pitch is always the width extended to the next multiple of 8. See
[1] for the user-space font-reading code.

With the changes to handling the font pitches, font_data_export() replaces
the original code's various special cases with a single copying logic.

514d0de7cf lib/fonts: Create font_data_t from struct console_font with font_data_import()
Add font_data_import() and update consoles to use it.

The implementation of font_data_import() is based on code from fbcon,
which supports overflow checks and crc32 checksums. Fbcon uses the crc32
checksum.

Newport_con now implements the same overflow checks as fbcon. As before,
this console does not support checksums, which are optional. Newport_con
can now also handle input font data with a vertical pitch other than 32
bytes. (The vertical pitch is the offset between two glyphs in the font
data.)

As an internal change, remove the const qualifier from the data field
if struct font_data. This allows font_data_import() to write the data
without type casting. For all users of the font data via font_data_t,
the stored data is still read only.

1e3c49aa03 lib/fonts: Compare font data for equality with font_data_is_equal()
Add font_data_is_equal() and update consoles to use it.

Font data is equal if it has the same size and contains the same values
on all bytes. Only fbcon uses a crc32 checksum. If set in both operands
the checksums have to be equal.

The new helper also guarantees to not compare internal fonts against
fonts from user space. Internal fonts cannot be ref-counted, so making
them equal to user-space fonts with the same byte sequence results in
undefined behavior.

The test only compares data buffers. Their interpretation is up each
console. Therefore remove a width test in fbcon_set_font().

1de371b1f1 lib/fonts: Manage font-data lifetime with font_data_get/_put()
Add font_data_get() and font_data_put(). Update consoles to use them
over REFCOUNT() and plain kfree().

Newly allocated font data starts with a reference count of 1. Loading
the font puts the previously loaded font. If the reference count reaches
zero, font_data_put() frees the font data.

The kernel stores a refcount of zero for internal font data. Invoking
font_data_get() and font_data_put() tests this internally and returns
success without further operation. From the caller's perspective,
getting and putting works the same for all font data.

Fbcon used the userfont flag distinguish between internal fonts and
fonts loaded by user space. Only the latter where refcounted. With the
new helper's automatic handling of internal font data, remove the
userfont flag from fbcon.

Newport_con uses a default font, FONT_DATA, until user space loads
custom font data. Remove all special cases for FONT_DATA, as the get
and put calls' read-only handling also covers this case.

04bd5abc8c lib/fonts: Store font data as font_data_t; update consoles
Store font data as pointer to font_data_t instead of unsigned char.
Update consoles.

Pointers to font data refer to the raw data. There is a hidden header
before the data that contains additional state. Document the existing
layout and semantics of font_data_t.

The data field in struct vc_font can be used by any console. Therefore
it still points to plain data without the additional header. Fbcon sets
its value from struct fbcon_display.fontdata. Hence, update the size
test in fbcon_resize() to use struct fbcon_display.fontdata instead of
struct vc_font.data.

61912c607f vt: Store font in struct vc_font
Replace struct console_font with struct vc_font for the type of the
vc_font field of struct vc_data. Struct console_font is UAPI, which
prevents further changes. Hence a new data type is required.

Struct console_font has a documented vertical pitch of 32 bytes. This
is not the case after the font data has been loaded into the kernel.
Changing the type of vc_font addresses this inconsistency.

The font data is now declared as constant, as it might come from the
kernel's read-only section. There's some fallout throughout the console
code where non-const variables refer to it. Fix them. A later update
will declare the font data to a dedicated data type.

bf4afc53b7 Convert 'alloc_obj' family to use the new default GFP_KERNEL argument
This was done entirely with mindless brute force, using

    git grep -l '\<k[vmz]*alloc_objs*(.*, GFP_KERNEL)' |
        xargs sed -i 's/\(alloc_objs*(.*\), GFP_KERNEL)/\1)/'

to convert the new alloc_obj() users that had a simple GFP_KERNEL
argument to just drop that argument.

Note that due to the extreme simplicity of the scripting, any slightly
more complex cases spread over multiple lines would not be triggered:
they definitely exist, but this covers the vast bulk of the cases, and
the resulting diff is also then easier to check automatically.

For the same reason the 'flex' versions will be done as a separate
conversion.

69050f8d6d treewide: Replace kmalloc with kmalloc_obj for non-scalar types
This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from
scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. The script is designed to
avoid scalar types (which need careful case-by-case checking), and
instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union
object instances:

Single allocations:	kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...)

Array allocations:	kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...)

Flex array allocations:	kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...)

(where TYPE may also be *VAR)

The resulting allocations no longer return "void *", instead returning
"TYPE *".

8e9bf8b9e8 printk, vt, fbcon: Remove console_conditional_schedule()
do_con_write(), fbcon_redraw.*() invoke console_conditional_schedule()
which is a conditional scheduling point based on printk's internal
variables console_may_schedule. It may only be used if the console lock
is acquired for instance via console_lock() or console_trylock().

Prinkt sets the internal variable to 1 (and allows to schedule)
if the console lock has been acquired via console_lock(). The trylock
does not allow it.

The console_conditional_schedule() invocation in do_con_write() is
invoked shortly before console_unlock().
The console_conditional_schedule() invocation in fbcon_redraw.*()
original from fbcon_scroll() / vt's con_scroll() which originate from a
line feed.

In console_unlock() the variable is set to 0 (forbids to schedule) and
it tries to schedule while making progress printing. This is brand new
compared to when console_conditional_schedule() was added in v2.4.9.11.

In v2.6.38-rc3, console_unlock() (started its existence) iterated over
all consoles and flushed them with disabled interrupts. A scheduling
attempt here was not possible, it relied that a long print scheduled
before console_unlock().

Since commit 8d91f8b153 ("printk: do cond_resched() between lines
while outputting to consoles"), which appeared in v4.5-rc1,
console_unlock() attempts to schedule if it was allowed to schedule
while during console_lock(). Each record is idealy one line so after
every line feed.

This console_conditional_schedule() is also only relevant on
PREEMPT_NONE and PREEMPT_VOLUNTARY builds. In other configurations
cond_resched() becomes a nop and has no impact.

I'm bringing this all up just proof that it is not required anymore. It
becomes a problem on a PREEMPT_RT build with debug code enabled because
that might_sleep() in cond_resched() remains and triggers a warnings.
This is due to

 legacy_kthread_func-> console_flush_one_record ->  vt_console_print-> lf
   -> con_scroll -> fbcon_scroll

and vt_console_print() acquires a spinlock_t which does not allow a
voluntary schedule. There is no need to fb_scroll() to schedule since
console_flush_one_record() attempts to schedule after each line.
!PREEMPT_RT is not affected because the legacy printing thread is only
enabled on PREEMPT_RT builds.

Therefore I suggest to remove console_conditional_schedule().

7068d42048 fbcon: Remove fb_debug_enter/_leave from struct fb_ops
There are no implementations of fb_debug_enter and fb_debug_leave.
Remove the callbacks from struct fb_ops and clean up the caller.

The field save_graphics in fbcon_par is also no longer required.
Remove it as well.

eb76d0f555 drm, fbcon, vga_switcheroo: Avoid race condition in fbcon setup
Protect vga_switcheroo_client_fb_set() with console lock. Avoids OOB
access in fbcon_remap_all(). Without holding the console lock the call
races with switching outputs.

VGA switcheroo calls fbcon_remap_all() when switching clients. The fbcon
function uses struct fb_info.node, which is set by register_framebuffer().
As the fb-helper code currently sets up VGA switcheroo before registering
the framebuffer, the value of node is -1 and therefore not a legal value.
For example, fbcon uses the value within set_con2fb_map() [1] as an index
into an array.

Moving vga_switcheroo_client_fb_set() after register_framebuffer() can
result in VGA switching that does not switch fbcon correctly.

Therefore move vga_switcheroo_client_fb_set() under fbcon_fb_registered(),
which already holds the console lock. Fbdev calls fbcon_fb_registered()
from within register_framebuffer(). Serializes the helper with VGA
switcheroo's call to fbcon_remap_all().

Although vga_switcheroo_client_fb_set() takes an instance of struct fb_info
as parameter, it really only needs the contained fbcon state. Moving the
call to fbcon initialization is therefore cleaner than before. Only amdgpu,
i915, nouveau and radeon support vga_switcheroo. For all other drivers,
this change does nothing.

a1f3058930 fbcon: Set fb_display[i]->mode to NULL when the mode is released
Recently, we discovered the following issue through syzkaller:

Based on experimentation and analysis, during framebuffer unregistration,
only the memory of fb_info->modelist is freed, without setting the
corresponding fb_display[i]->mode to NULL for the freed modes. This leads
to UAF issues during subsequent accesses. Here's an example of reproduction
steps:
1. With /dev/fb0 already registered in the system, load a kernel module
   to register a new device /dev/fb1;
2. Set fb1's mode to the global fb_display[] array (via FBIOPUT_CON2FBMAP);
3. Switch console from fb to VGA (to allow normal rmmod of the ko);
4. Unload the kernel module, at this point fb1's modelist is freed, leaving
   a wild pointer in fb_display[];
5. Trigger the bug via system calls through fb0 attempting to delete a mode
   from fb0.

Add a check in do_unregister_framebuffer(): if the mode to be freed exists
in fb_display[], set the corresponding mode pointer to NULL.

1a194e6c8e fbcon: fix integer overflow in fbcon_do_set_font
Fix integer overflow vulnerabilities in fbcon_do_set_font() where font
size calculations could overflow when handling user-controlled font
parameters.

The vulnerabilities occur when:
1. CALC_FONTSZ(h, pitch, charcount) performs h * pith * charcount
   multiplication with user-controlled values that can overflow.
2. FONT_EXTRA_WORDS * sizeof(int) + size addition can also overflow
3. This results in smaller allocations than expected, leading to buffer
   overflows during font data copying.

Add explicit overflow checking using check_mul_overflow() and
check_add_overflow() kernel helpers to safety validate all size
calculations before allocation.

fdf1b6b77d fbcon: Streamline setting rotated/unrotated bitops
Support for console rotation is somewhat bolted onto the helper
fbcon_set_bitops() for unrotated displays.

Update fbcon_set_bitops() with a switch statement that picks the
correct settings helper for the current rotation. For unrotated
consoles, set the bitops for in the new helper fbcon_set_bitops_ur().
Rename the other, existing helpers to match the common naming
scheme.

The old helper fbcon_set_rotate() is no longer used.

217cb07be4 fbcon: Move fbcon callbacks into struct fbcon_bitops
Depending on rotation settings, fbcon sets different callback
functions in struct fbcon_par from within fbcon_set_bitops(). Declare
the callback functions in the new type struct fbcon_bitops. Then
only replace the single bitops pointer in struct fbcon_par.

Keeping callbacks in constant instances of struct fbcon_bitops
makes it harder to exploit the callbacks. Also makes the code slightly
easier to maintain.

For tile-based consoles, there's a separate instance of the bitops
structure.

a6adbbc4c3 fbcon: Rename struct fbcon_ops to struct fbcon_par
The type struct fbcon_ops contains fbcon state and callbacks. As the
callbacks will be removed from struct fbcon_ops, rename the data type
to struct fbcon_par. Also rename the variables from ops to par.

The _par postfix ("private access registers") is used throughout the
fbdev subsystem for per-driver state. The fbcon pointer within struct
fb_info is also named fbcon_par. Hence, the new naming fits existing
practice.

af0db3c1f8 fbdev: Fix vmalloc out-of-bounds write in fast_imageblit
This issue triggers when a userspace program does an ioctl
FBIOPUT_CON2FBMAP by passing console number and frame buffer number.
Ideally this maps console to frame buffer and updates the screen if
console is visible.

As part of mapping it has to do resize of console according to frame
buffer info. if this resize fails and returns from vc_do_resize() and
continues further. At this point console and new frame buffer are mapped
and sets display vars. Despite failure still it continue to proceed
updating the screen at later stages where vc_data is related to previous
frame buffer and frame buffer info and display vars are mapped to new
frame buffer and eventully leading to out-of-bounds write in
fast_imageblit(). This bheviour is excepted only when fg_console is
equal to requested console which is a visible console and updates screen
with invalid struct references in fbcon_putcs().

892c788d73 fbcon: Use correct erase colour for clearing in fbcon
The erase colour calculation for fbcon clearing should use get_color instead
of attr_col_ec, like everything else. The latter is similar but is not correct.
For example it's missing the depth dependent remapping and doesn't care about
blanking.

The problem can be reproduced by setting up the background colour to grey
(vt.color=0x70) and having an fbcon console set to 2bpp (4 shades of gray).
Now the background attribute should be 1 (dark gray) on the console.

If the screen is scrolled when pressing enter in a shell prompt at the bottom
line then the new line is cleared using colour 7 instead of 1. That's not
something fillrect likes (at 2bbp it expect 0-3) so the result is interesting.

This patch switches to get_color with vc_video_erase_char to determine the
erase colour from attr_col_ec. That makes the latter function redundant as
no other users were left.

         -> do_update_region
          -> fbcon_putcs
           -> ops->putcs

Since ops->putcs is a NULL pointer, this leads to a kernel panic.
To prevent this, we need to call set_blitting_type() within set_con2fb_map()
to properly initialize ops->putcs.

Panic_cpu is not exported, so it can't be used if fbcon is used as

d20a9f568f fbcon: Add an option to disable fbcon in panic
This is required to avoid conflict between DRM_PANIC, and fbcon. If
a drm device already handle panic with drm_panic, it should set
the skip_panic field in fb_info, so that fbcon will stay quiet, and
not overwrite the panic_screen.

arch: Remove struct fb_info from video helpers
The per-architecture video helpers do not depend on struct fb_info
or anything else from fbdev. Remove it from the interface and replace
fb_is_primary_device() with video_is_primary_device(). The new helper
is similar in functionality, but can operate on non-fbdev devices.

152609795d fbcon: Increase maximum font width x height to 64 x 128
By using bitmaps we actually support whatever size we would want, but
the console currently limits fonts to 64x128 (which gives 60x16 text on
4k screens), so we don't need more for now, and we can easily increase
later.

00d6a284fc fbcon: always restore the old font data in fbcon_do_set_font()
Commit a5a923038d (fbdev: fbcon: Properly revert changes when
vc_resize() failed) started restoring old font data upon failure (of
vc_resize()). But it performs so only for user fonts. It means that the
"system"/internal fonts are not restored at all. So in result, the very
first call to fbcon_do_set_font() performs no restore at all upon
failing vc_resize().

This can be reproduced by Syzkaller to crash the system on the next
invocation of font_get(). It's rather hard to hit the allocation failure
in vc_resize() on the first font_set(), but not impossible. Esp. if
fault injection is used to aid the execution/failure. It was
demonstrated by Sirius:
  BUG: unable to handle page fault for address: fffffffffffffff8
  #PF: supervisor read access in kernel mode
  #PF: error_code(0x0000) - not-present page

So restore the font data in any case, not only for user fonts. Note the
later 'if' is now protected by 'old_userfont' and not 'old_data' as the
latter is always set now. (And it is supposed to be non-NULL. Otherwise
we would see the bug above again.)
