platform/x86: hp_accel: Check ACPI_COMPANION() against NULL
Every platform driver can be forced to match a device that doesn't match
its list of device IDs because of device_match_driver_override(), so
platform drivers that rely on the existence of a device's ACPI companion
object need to verify its presence.

Accordingly, add a requisite ACPI_COMPANION() check against NULL to the
platform/x86 hp_accel driver.

hp-wmi: fix support for thermal profile Omen 16-с0xxx laptops
The HP Omen 16-c0xxx (board ID: 8902) has the same WMI interface as
other Victus S boards, but requires additional quirks for correctly
switching thermal profile.

Add the DMI board name to victus_s_thermal_profile_boards[] table and
map it to the omen_v1_legacy_thermal_params quirk.

Testing on board 8902 confirmed that platform profile is registered
successfully and fan RPMs are readable and controllable.

platform/x86: hp-wmi: silence unknown board warning for 8D41
The HP Omen Max 16-ah0xxx, DMI board ID 8D41 is currently marked with
victus_s_thermal_params in the victus_s_thermal_profile_boards[] list.
This disables thermal profile readback and adds a dmesg warning during
driver init for "unknown board".

After testing we know that (similar to another HP Omen Max 16 device,
board ID 8D87), the embedded controller on this board does not expose
thermal profile which means we have to intentionally disable EC
readback.

Changing its driver_data to omen_v1_no_ec_thermal_params is sufficient
to silence the warning.

platform/x86: hp-wmi: Add support for OMEN MAX 16-ak0xxx (8D87)
The HP OMEN MAX 16-ak0xxx (8D87) requires the same WMI queries as other
Victus S devices, hence it has been added to the corresponding list.

For this reason, platform_profile_victus_s_get_ec() will be called
during thermal_profile_setup() and victus_s_powersource_event() to
obtain hardware state (platform profile) by reading from the Embedded
Controller, however, this particular board's EC does not seem to expose
the platform profile value, unlike other boards. Hence EC readback is
disabled.

Testing on board 8D87 confirmed that platform profile is registered
successfully and fan RPMs are readable and controllable.

platform/x86: hp-wmi: fix fan table parsing
For Victus S devices, the BIOS fan table header was being incorrectly
parsed as:
struct {
	u8 unknown;
	u8 num_entries;
}

The first field should be num_fans and the second should be unknown. It
is pure coincidence that interpreting an "unknown" field as "num_entries"
worked on multiple device, however for board 8D87 (in an upcoming patch),
this assumption fails, and the hp-wmi driver fails to load.

We fix this by correcting the header definition and compensating for
num_entries by parsing each entry of the fan table until an all-NULL row
is obtained, mirroring the behavior of OMEN Gaming Hub on Windows.

platform/x86: hp-wmi: add Omen 14-fb0xxx (board 8C58) support
Board 8C58 (HP Omen Transcend Gaming Laptop 14-fb0xxx) appears to use
the same thermal profile handling as other supported Omen systems,
including board 8E41.

Add it to omen_thermal_profile_boards so hp-wmi can expose the firmware
thermal profiles through the platform_profile interface.

Tested on Omen 14-fb0xxx: the profile handler exposes cool, balanced,
and performance modes, and selecting performance increases sustained CPU
package power under load.

Add a mutex to hp_wmi_hwmon_priv protecting mode and pwm. Hold it in
hp_wmi_hwmon_write() across the field update and apply call, and in
hp_wmi_hwmon_keep_alive_handler() before calling apply.

In hp_wmi_hwmon_read(), only the pwm_enable path reads priv->mode; use
scoped_guard() there to avoid holding the lock across unrelated WMI
calls.

platform/x86: hp-wmi: fix u8 underflow in gpu_delta calculation
gpu_delta was declared as u8. If the firmware specifies a GPU RPM
lower than the CPU RPM, subtracting them causes an underflow
(e.g. 10 - 20 = 246), which forces the GPU fan to remain clamped at
U8_MAX (100% speed) during operation.

Change gpu_delta to int and use signed arithmetic. Existing signed logic
in hp_wmi_fan_speed_set() correctly handles negative deltas.

platform/x86: hp-wmi: use mod_delayed_work to reset keep-alive timer
Currently, schedule_delayed_work() is used to queue the 90s keep-alive
timer. If a user manually changes the fan speed at T=85s,
schedule_delayed_work() leaves the existing timer in place as it is a
no-op if the work is already pending. This results in the keep-alive
timer firing unnecessarily at T=90s, just 5 seconds after the user
action.

Replace schedule_delayed_work() with mod_delayed_work() to reset the
90s timer whenever fan settings are applied. This guarantees a full 90s
delay after every user interaction, preventing redundant keep-alive
executions and improving efficiency.

platform/x86: hp-wmi: avoid cancel_delayed_work_sync from work handler
hp_wmi_apply_fan_settings() uses cancel_delayed_work_sync() to stop
the keep-alive timer in AUTO mode. However, since
hp_wmi_apply_fan_settings() is also called from the keep-alive
handler, a race condition with a sysfs write can cause the handler to
wait on itself, leading to a deadlock.

Replace cancel_delayed_work_sync() with cancel_delayed_work() in
hp_wmi_apply_fan_settings() to avoid the self-flush deadlock.

bf4afc53b7 Convert 'alloc_obj' family to use the new default GFP_KERNEL argument
This was done entirely with mindless brute force, using

    git grep -l '\<k[vmz]*alloc_objs*(.*, GFP_KERNEL)' |
        xargs sed -i 's/\(alloc_objs*(.*\), GFP_KERNEL)/\1)/'

to convert the new alloc_obj() users that had a simple GFP_KERNEL
argument to just drop that argument.

Note that due to the extreme simplicity of the scripting, any slightly
more complex cases spread over multiple lines would not be triggered:
they definitely exist, but this covers the vast bulk of the cases, and
the resulting diff is also then easier to check automatically.

For the same reason the 'flex' versions will be done as a separate
conversion.

69050f8d6d treewide: Replace kmalloc with kmalloc_obj for non-scalar types
This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from
scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. The script is designed to
avoid scalar types (which need careful case-by-case checking), and
instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union
object instances:

Single allocations:	kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...)

Array allocations:	kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...)

Flex array allocations:	kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...)

(where TYPE may also be *VAR)

The resulting allocations no longer return "void *", instead returning
"TYPE *".

platform/x86: hp-wmi: Add EC offsets to read Victus S thermal profile
The current implementation for Victus S thermal profiles only supports
setting the profile. The driver was missing the logic to read the
hardware state, meaning it would default to "Balanced" on driver load,
overriding the currently active profile. Furthermore, the driver could
not detect if the firmware reset the profile on a power source change.

Statically store the known EC offsets for reading thermal profile in the
new .ec_tp_offset field of struct thermal_profile_params. Implement
platform_profile_victus_s_get_ec() to use this offset to read the real
hardware state. Additionally, update the power source event notifier to
use the actual hardware state when re-triggering CPU power limits
actualization.

Testing on HP Omen 16-wf1xxx (board ID 8C78) confirmed that the thermal
profile is now persistent across driver loads and power source change
events.

platform/x86: hp-bioscfg: Fix kernel panic in GET_INSTANCE_ID macro
The GET_INSTANCE_ID macro that caused a kernel panic when accessing sysfs
attributes:

1. Off-by-one error: The loop condition used '<=' instead of '<',
   causing access beyond array bounds. Since array indices are 0-based
   and go from 0 to instances_count-1, the loop should use '<'.

2. Missing NULL check: The code dereferenced attr_name_kobj->name

   dereference in min_length_show() and other attribute show functions.

The panic occurred when fwupd tried to read BIOS configuration attributes:

platform/x86: hp-wmi: fix platform profile values for Omen 16-wf1xxx
HP Omen 16-wf1xxx (board ID 8C78) currently sends the incorrect
Victus-specific thermal profile values via WMI, leading to a logical
inconsistency when switching between platform profiles.

The driver currently uses Victus S values:
0x00 => Balanced / Low-Power
0x01 => Performance

However, Omen Gaming Hub logs / EC register inspection on Windows shows
that this board is intended to use:
0x30 => Balanced / Low-Power
0x31 => Performance

This patch corrects the thermal profile command values to match the
values observed from Omen Gaming Hub logs. The performance benchmarks
and peak power draw (from both CPU and GPU) show no observable change
with this correction (suggesting that the firmware is currently tolerant
of the incorrect values). However sending the correct values prevents
potential regressions after future firmware updates.

Refactor victus_s_thermal_profile_boards from a list of strings to a
dmi_system_id table and move the lookup to module init. The new struct
thermal_profile_params is used to store board-specific WMI parameters,
allowing the driver to cache these values in a static pointer. This
avoids repeated DMI string comparisons and allows marking of DMI table as
__initconst.

Testing on HP Omen 16-wf1xxx (board 8C78) confirmed WMI codes 0x30/0x31
are now sent, resolving the logical inconsistency and ensuring the value
visible in EC registers match the Windows state for this profile.

platform/x86: hp-wmi: implement fan keep-alive
The firmware on some HP laptops automatically reverts the fan speed
control to "Auto" mode after a 120 second timeout window.

To ensure that the user-selected fan profile (Max/Manual) persists,
implement a keep-alive mechanism that periodically refreshes the fan
mode trigger before the timeout occurs.

- Introduce a delayed workqueue to trigger the fan mode refresh every 90
  seconds, ensuring the system maintains the correct fan mode setting.
- Integrate the refresh mechanism into hp_wmi_apply_fan_settings() to
  start, update or cancel the keep-alive process based on the current
  fan mode.

This ensures that the driver stays in sync with the hardware.

platform/x86: hp-wmi: add manual fan control for Victus S models
Add manual fan speed control and PWM reporting for HP Victus S-series
laptops.

While HPWMI_FAN_SPEED_SET_QUERY was previously added to reset max fan
mode, it is actually capable of individual fan control. This patch
implements hp_wmi_fan_speed_set() to allow manual control and hides
PWM inputs for non-Victus devices as the query is Victus specific.

The existing hp_wmi_fan_speed_max_get() query is unreliable on Victus S
firmware, often incorrectly reporting "Auto" mode even when "Max" is
active. To resolve this synchronization issue, move state tracking to
a per-device private context and apply "Auto" mode during driver
initialization to ensure a consistent starting point.

Refactor hp_wmi_apply_fan_settings() to use an intermediate ret
variable. This prepares the switch block for keep-alive logic being
added in a later patch, avoiding the need for duplicated mode check.

platform/x86: hp-bioscfg: Fix out-of-bounds array access in ACPI package parsing
The hp_populate_*_elements_from_package() functions in the hp-bioscfg
driver contain out-of-bounds array access vulnerabilities.

These functions parse ACPI packages into internal data structures using
a for loop with index variable 'elem' that iterates through
enum_obj/integer_obj/order_obj/password_obj/string_obj arrays.

When processing multi-element fields like PREREQUISITES and
ENUM_POSSIBLE_VALUES, these functions read multiple consecutive array
elements using expressions like 'enum_obj[elem + reqs]' and
'enum_obj[elem + pos_values]' within nested loops.

The bug is that the bounds check only validated elem, but did not consider
the additional offset when accessing elem + reqs or elem + pos_values.

The fix changes the bounds check to validate the actual accessed index.
