Destage the VCHIQ interface driver to drivers/platform/raspberrypi.
There is still the remaining TODO item of improving the documentation,
which can be handled post destaging.
Secondly, multimedia drivers like codec and ISP that rely on this
interface need to be upstreamed. And lastly, the drivers that facilitate
the shared memory between VideoCore and Linux, like the vc-sm-cma driver
and vc_mem char driver also need to be upstreamed.

Some ARM64 based laptops and computers require vendor/board specific
drivers for their embedded controllers. Even though usually the most
important functionality of those devices is implemented inside ACPI,
unfortunately Linux doesn't currently have great support for ACPI on
platforms like Qualcomm Snapdragon that are used in most ARM64 laptops
today. Instead Linux relies on Device Tree for Qualcomm based devices
and it's significantly easier to reimplement the EC functionality in
a dedicated driver than to make use of ACPI code.
This commit introduces a new platform/arm64 subdirectory to give a
place to such drivers for EC-like devices.
A new MAINTAINERS entry is added for this directory. Patches to files in
this directory will be taken up by the platform-drivers-x86 team (i.e.
Hans de Goede and Ilpo Järvinen) with additional review from Bryan
O'Donoghue to represent ARM64 maintainers.

drivers/platform/x86/Kconfig is wrapped in one big
if X86_PLATFORM_DEVICES .. endif and X86_PLATFORM_DEVICES already
has a "depends on X86" so the "if X86" in drivers/platform/Kconfig
is not necessary and except for MIPS none of the other includes
there has such an if. So let's remove it.
While at it also move the x86/Kconfig include to the end of the file

It may make sense to split the Microsoft Surface hardware platform
drivers out to a separate subdirectory, since some of it may be shared
between ARM and x86 in the future (regarding devices like the Surface
Pro X).
Further, newer Surface devices will require additional platform drivers
for fundamental support (mostly regarding their embedded controller),
which may also warrant this split from a size perspective.
This commit introduces a new platform/surface subdirectory for the
Surface device family, with subsequent commits moving existing Surface
drivers over from platform/x86.
A new MAINTAINERS entry is added for this directory. Patches to files in

ASUS WMI driver got a big refactoring in order to support the TUF Gaming
laptops. Besides that, the regression with backlight being permanently off
on various EeePC laptops has been fixed.
Accelerometer on HP ProBook 450 G0 shows wrong measurements due to
X axis being inverted. This has been fixed.
Intel PMC core driver has been extended to be ACPI enumerated
if the DSDT provides device with _HID "INT33A1". This allows
to convert the driver to be pure platform and support new hardware
purely based on ACPI DSDT.
From now on the Intel Speed Select Technology is supported thru
a corresponding driver. This driver provides an access to the features
of the ISST, such as Performance Profile, Core Power, Base frequency and
Turbo Frequency.
Mellanox platform drivers has been refactored and now extended
to support more systems, including new coming ones.
The OLPC XO-1.75 platform is now supported.
CB4063 Beckhoff Automation board is using PMC clocks,
provided via pmc_atom driver, for ethernet controllers in a way
that they can't be managed by the clock driver. The quirk
has been extended to cover this case.
Touchscreen on Chuwi Hi10 Plus tablet has been enabled. Meanwhile
the information of Chuwi Hi10 Air has been fixed to cover more models
based on the same platform.
Xiaomi notebooks have WMI interface enabled. Thus, the driver to support it
has been provided. It required some extension of the generic WMI library,
which allows to propagate opaque context to the ->probe() of the
individual drivers.
This release includes debugfs clean up from Greg KH for several drivers
that drop return code check and make debugfs absence or failure non-fatal.
Miscellaneous fixes here and there, mostly for Acer WMI and
various Intel drivers.

On new virtual devices, the goldfish virtual bus can be replaced with
autoprobing infrastructure like Device Tree. Refactor the goldfish
kernel configs to better accommodate this.
Move the goldfish platform into a menuconfig in the style of the chrome
platform, and separate the goldfish bus into its own config option.

It makes sense to split out the Chromebook/Chromebox hardware platform
drivers to a separate subdirectory, since some of it will be shared
between ARM and x86.
This moves over the existing chromeos_laptop driver without making
any other changes, and adds appropriate Kconfig entries for the new
directory. It also adds a MAINTAINERS entry for the new subdir.

A QEMU pipe is a very fast communication channel between the
guest system and the emulator. Usage from the guest is simply
something like;
// connect to special device
fd = open("/dev/qemu_pipe", O_RDWR);
// tell which service we want to talk to (must be zero-terminated)
write(fd, "pipeName", strlen("pipeName")+1);
// do read()/write() through fd now
...
// close channel
close(fd);

Move x86 platform specific drivers from drivers/misc/
to a new home under drivers/platform/x86/.
The community has been maintaining x86 vendor-specific
platform specific drivers under /drivers/misc/ for a few years.
The oldest ones started life under drivers/acpi.
They moved out of drivers/acpi/ because they don't actually
implement the ACPI specification, but either simply
use ACPI, or implement vendor-specific ACPI extensions.
In the future we anticipate...
drivers/misc/ will go away.
other architectures will create drivers/platform/<arch>
