The main channel Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) measurement
is used to determine whether an RF field is present or not. RSSI != 0
is interpreted as an RF Field is present. This does not take RF noise
and measurement inaccuracy into account, and results in false positives
in the field.
Define a noise level and make sure the RF field is only interpreted as
present when the RSSI is above the noise level.

pn532_receive_buf() reports the number of accepted bytes to the serdev
core. The current code consumes bytes into recv_skb and may already hand
a complete frame to pn533_recv_frame() before allocating a fresh receive
buffer.
If that alloc_skb() fails, the callback returns 0 even though it has
already consumed bytes, and it leaves recv_skb as NULL for the next
receive callback. That breaks the receive_buf() accounting contract and
can also lead to a NULL dereference on the next skb_put_u8().
Allocate the receive skb lazily before consuming the next byte instead.
If allocation fails, return the number of bytes already accepted.

pn532_receive_buf() appends every incoming byte to dev->recv_skb and
only resets the buffer after pn532_uart_rx_is_frame() recognizes a
complete frame. A continuous stream of bytes without a valid PN532 frame
header therefore keeps growing the skb until skb_put_u8() hits the tail
limit.
Drop the accumulated partial frame once the fixed receive buffer is full
so malformed UART traffic cannot grow the skb past
PN532_UART_SKB_BUFF_LEN.

Replace the legacy of_get_named_gpio() / gpio_request_one() /
gpio_set_value() API with the descriptor-based devm_gpiod_get() /
gpiod_set_value() API from <linux/gpio/consumer.h>, removing the
dependency on <linux/of_gpio.h>.
This removes the s3fwrn5_i2c_parse_dt() and s3fwrn82_uart_parse_dt()
functions since devm_gpiod_get() handles both DT lookup and resource
management. The gpio_en and gpio_fw_wake fields in struct phy_common
are changed from int to struct gpio_desc *.
Add rename quirks in gpiolib-of.c for the deprecated "s3fwrn5,en-gpios"
and "s3fwrn5,fw-gpios" properties to maintain backward compatibility
with old device trees.

take additional references unless the structures are needed after
disconnect.
Drop the redundant device reference to reduce cargo culting, make it
easier to spot drivers where an extra reference is needed, and reduce

the destination buffer. Since fw_info->fw_name is an array with a
fixed, declared size, the two-argument variant of strscpy() is used -
the compiler deduces the buffer size automatically.
This is a defensive cleanup replacing the deprecated strcpy()
with the preferred strscpy().

When the device is disconnected from the driver, there is a "dangling"
reference count on the usb interface that was grabbed in the probe
callback. Fix this up by properly dropping the reference after we are
done with it.

This was done entirely with mindless brute force, using
git grep -l '\<k[vmz]*alloc_objs*(.*, GFP_KERNEL)' |
xargs sed -i 's/\(alloc_objs*(.*\), GFP_KERNEL)/\1)/'
to convert the new alloc_obj() users that had a simple GFP_KERNEL
argument to just drop that argument.
Note that due to the extreme simplicity of the scripting, any slightly
more complex cases spread over multiple lines would not be triggered:
they definitely exist, but this covers the vast bulk of the cases, and
the resulting diff is also then easier to check automatically.
For the same reason the 'flex' versions will be done as a separate
conversion.

This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from
scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. The script is designed to
avoid scalar types (which need careful case-by-case checking), and
instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union
object instances:
Single allocations: kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with: kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...)
Array allocations: kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with: kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...)

For NXP NCI devices (e.g. PN7150), the interrupt is level-triggered and
active high, not edge-triggered.
Using IRQF_TRIGGER_RISING in the driver can cause interrupts to fail
to trigger correctly.
Remove IRQF_TRIGGER_RISING and rely on the IRQ trigger type configured
via Device Tree.

NFC packets may have NUL-bytes. Checking for string length is not a correct
assumption here. As long as there is a check for the length copied from
copy_from_user, all should be fine.
The fix only prevented the syzbot reproducer from triggering the bug
because the packet is not enqueued anymore and the code that triggers the
bug is not exercised.
The fix even broke
testing/selftests/nci/nci_dev, making all tests there fail. After the
revert, 6 out of 8 tests pass.

The TRF7970a device is sensitive to RF disturbances, which can make it
hard to pass some EMC immunity tests. By reducing the RX antenna gain,
the device becomes less sensitive to EMC disturbances, as a trade-off
against antenna performance.
Add a device tree option to select RX gain reduction to improve EMC
performance.
Selecting a communication standard in the ISO control register resets
the RX antenna gain settings. Therefore set the RX gain reduction
everytime the ISO control register changes, when the option is used.

This just standardizes the use of MIN() and MAX() macros, with the very
traditional semantics. The goal is to use these for C constant
expressions and for top-level / static initializers, and so be able to
simplify the min()/max() macros.
These macro names were used by various kernel code - they are very
traditional, after all - and all such users have been fixed up, with a
few different approaches:
- trivial duplicated macro definitions have been removed
Note that 'trivial' here means that it's obviously kernel code that
already included all the major kernel headers, and thus gets the new
generic MIN/MAX macros automatically.
- non-trivial duplicated macro definitions are guarded with #ifndef
This is the "yes, they define their own versions, but no, the include
situation is not entirely obvious, and maybe they don't get the
generic version automatically" case.
- strange use case #1
A couple of drivers decided that the way they want to describe their
versioning is with
#define MAJ 1
#define MIN 2
#define DRV_VERSION __stringify(MAJ) "." __stringify(MIN)
which adds zero value and I just did my Alexander the Great
impersonation, and rewrote that pointless Gordian knot as
#define DRV_VERSION "1.2"
instead.
- strange use case #2
A couple of drivers thought that it's a good idea to have a random
'MIN' or 'MAX' define for a value or index into a table, rather than
the traditional macro that takes arguments.
These values were re-written as C enum's instead. The new
function-line macros only expand when followed by an open
parenthesis, and thus don't clash with enum use.
Happily, there weren't really all that many of these cases, and a lot of
users already had the pattern of using '#ifndef' guarding (or in one
case just using '#undef MIN') before defining their own private version
that does the same thing. I left such cases alone.

These drivers don't use the driver_data member of struct i2c_device_id,
so don't explicitly initialize this member.
This prepares putting driver_data in an anonymous union which requires
either no initialization or named designators. But it's also a nice
cleanup on its own.

Syzbot constructed a write() call with a data length of 3 bytes but a count value
of 15, which passed too little data to meet the basic requirements of the function
nci_rf_intf_activated_ntf_packet().
Therefore, increasing the comparison between data length and count value to avoid
problems caused by inconsistent data length and count.

During module probe, regulator 'vin' and 'vdd-io' are used and enabled,
but the vdd-io regulator overwrites the 'vin' regulator pointer. During
remove, only the vdd-io is disabled, as the vin regulator pointer is not
available anymore. When regulator_put() is called during resource
cleanup a kernel warning is given, as the regulator is still enabled.
Store the two regulators in separate pointers and disable both the
regulators on module remove.
