7e554f317b net: phy: move config symbol MDIO_BUS to drivers/net/phy/Kconfig
Config symbol MDIO_BUS isn't used in drivers/net/mdio. It's only used
in drivers/net/phy. So move it there.

fixed_phy_register() creates and registers the phy_device. To be
symmetric, we should not only unregister, but also free the phy_device

a81649a4ef net: mdio: mdio-bcm-unimac: Correct rate fallback logic
When the parent clock is a gated clock which has multiple parents, the
clock provider (clk-scmi typically) might return a rate of 0 since there
is not one of those particular parent clocks that should be chosen for
returning a rate. Prior to ee975351cf ("net: mdio: mdio-bcm-unimac:
Manage clock around I/O accesses"), we would not always be passing a
clock reference depending upon how mdio-bcm-unimac was instantiated. In
that case, we would take the fallback path where the rate is hard coded
to 250MHz.

Make sure that we still fallback to using a fixed rate for the divider
calculation, otherwise we simply ignore the desired MDIO bus clock
frequency which can prevent us from interfacing with Ethernet PHYs
properly.

67e3ba9783 net: mdio: Add MDIO bus controller for Airoha AN7583
Airoha AN7583 SoC have 2 dedicated MDIO bus controller in the SCU
register map. To driver register an MDIO controller based on the DT
reg property and access the register by accessing the parent syscon.

The MDIO bus logic is similar to the MT7530 internal MDIO bus but
deviates of some setting and some HW bug.

On Airoha AN7583 the MDIO clock is set to 25MHz by default and needs to
be correctly setup to 2.5MHz to correctly work (by setting the divisor
to 10x).

There seems to be Hardware bug where AN7583_MII_RWDATA
is not wiped in the context of unconnected PHY and the
previous read value is returned.

Example: (only one PHY on the BUS at 0x1f)
 - read at 0x1f report at 0x2 0x7500
 - read at 0x0 report 0x7500 on every address

To workaround this, we reset the Mdio BUS at every read
to have consistent values on read operation.

31be641d74 net: phy: make mdio consumer / device layer a separate module
After having factored out the provider part from mdio_bus.c, we can
make the mdio consumer / device layer a separate module. This also
allows to remove Kconfig symbol MDIO_DEVICE.
The module init / exit functions from mdio_bus.c no longer have to be
called from phy_device.c. The link order defined in

a3e1c0ad83 net: phy: factor out provider part from mdio_bus.c
After 52358dd63e ("net: phy: remove function stubs") there's a
problem if CONFIG_MDIO_BUS is set, but CONFIG_PHYLIB is not.
mdiobus_scan() uses phylib functions like get_phy_device().
Bringing back the stub wouldn't make much sense, because it would
allow to compile mdiobus_scan(), but the function would be unusable.
The stub returned NULL, and we have the following in mdiobus_scan():

phydev = get_phy_device(bus, addr, c45);
        if (IS_ERR(phydev))
                return phydev;

So calling mdiobus_scan() w/o CONFIG_PHYLIB would cause a crash later in
mdiobus_scan(). In general the PHYLIB functionality isn't optional here.
Consequently, MDIO bus providers depend on PHYLIB.
Therefore factor it out and build it together with the libphy core
modules. In addition make all MDIO bus providers under /drivers/net/mdio
depend on PHYLIB. Same applies to enetc MDIO bus provider. Note that
PHYLIB selects MDIO_DEVRES, therefore we can omit this here.

fad4d94d9a net: mdio: thunder: Use pure PCI devres API
The currently used function pci_request_regions() is one of the
problematic "hybrid devres" PCI functions, which are sometimes managed
through devres, and sometimes not (depending on whether
pci_enable_device() or pcim_enable_device() has been called before).

The PCI subsystem wants to remove this behavior and, therefore, needs to
port all users to functions that don't have this problem.

Furthermore, the PCI function being managed implies that it's not
necessary to call pci_release_regions() manually.

Remove the calls to pci_release_regions().

Replace pci_request_regions() with pcim_request_all_regions().

ee975351cf net: mdio: mdio-bcm-unimac: Manage clock around I/O accesses
Up until now we have managed not to have the mdio-bcm-unimac manage its
clock except during probe and suspend/resume. This works most of the
time, except where it does not.

With a fully modular build, we can get into a situation whereby the
GENET driver is fully registered, and so is the mdio-bcm-unimac driver,
however the Ethernet PHY driver is not yet, because it depends on a
resource that is not yet available (e.g.: GPIO provider). In that state,
the network device is not usable yet, and so to conserve power, the
GENET driver will have turned off its "main" clock which feeds its MDIO
controller.

When the PHY driver finally probes however, we make an access to the PHY
registers to e.g.: disable interrupts, and this causes a bus error
within the MDIO controller space because the MDIO controller clock(s)
are turned off.

To remedy that, we manage the clock around all of the I/O accesses to
the hardware which are done exclusively during read, write and clock
divider configuration.

This ensures that the register space is accessible, and this also
ensures that there are not unnecessarily elevated reference counts
keeping the clocks active when the network device is administratively
turned off. It would be the case with the previous way of managing the
clock.

Add support for scanning PHY in PHY package nodes. PHY packages nodes

bdce82e960 net: mdio: ipq4019: add support for clock-frequency property
The IPQ4019 MDIO internally divide the clock feed by AHB based on the
MDIO_MODE reg. On reset or power up, the default value for the
divider is 0xff that reflect the divider set to /256.

This makes the MDC run at a very low rate, that is, considering AHB is
always fixed to 100Mhz, a value of 390KHz.

This hasn't have been a problem as MDIO wasn't used for time sensitive
operation, it is now that on IPQ807x is usually mounted with PHY that
requires MDIO to load their firmware (example Aquantia PHY).

To handle this problem and permit to set the correct designed MDC
frequency for the SoC add support for the standard "clock-frequency"
property for the MDIO node.

The divider supports value from /1 to /256 and the common value are to
set it to /16 to reflect 6.25Mhz or to /8 on newer platform to reflect
12.5Mhz.

To scan if the requested rate is supported by the divider, loop with
each supported divider and stop when the requested rate match the final
rate with the current divider. An error is returned if the rate doesn't
match any value.

On MDIO reset, the divider is restored to the requested value to prevent
any kind of downclocking caused by the divider reverting to a default
value.

To follow 802.3 spec of 2.5MHz of default value, if divider is set at
/256 and "clock-frequency" is not set in DT, assume nobody set the
divider and try to find the closest MDC rate to 2.5MHz. (in the case of
AHB set to 100MHz, it's 1.5625MHz)

While at is also document other bits of the MDIO_MODE reg to have a
clear idea of what is actually applied there.

Documentation of some BITs is skipped as they are marked as reserved and
their usage is not clear (RES 11:9 GENPHY 16:13 RES1 19:17)

cff9c565e6 net: mdio: get/put device node during (un)registration
The __of_mdiobus_register() function was storing the device node in
dev.of_node without increasing its reference count. It implicitly relied
on the caller to maintain the allocated node until the mdiobus was
unregistered.

Now, __of_mdiobus_register() will acquire the node before assigning it,
and of_mdiobus_unregister_callback() will be called at the end of
mdio_unregister().

Drivers can now release the node immediately after MDIO registration.
Some of them are already doing that even before this patch.

79ac113933 net: mdio-gpio: replace deprecated strncpy with strscpy
strncpy() is deprecated for use on NUL-terminated destination strings
[1] and as such we should prefer more robust and less ambiguous string
interfaces.

We expect new_bus->id to be NUL-terminated but not NUL-padded based on
its prior assignment through snprintf:
|       snprintf(new_bus->id, MII_BUS_ID_SIZE, "gpio-%x", bus_id);

Due to this, a suitable replacement is `strscpy` [2] due to the fact
that it guarantees NUL-termination on the destination buffer without
unnecessarily NUL-padding.

We can also use sizeof() instead of a length macro as this more closely
ties the maximum buffer size to the destination buffer. Do this for two
instances.

1f9f2143f2 net: mdio-mux: fix C45 access returning -EIO after API change
The mii_bus API conversion to read_c45() and write_c45() did not cover
the mdio-mux driver before read() and write() were made C22-only.

This broke arch/arm64/boot/dts/freescale/fsl-ls1028a-qds-13bb.dtso.
The -EOPNOTSUPP from mdiobus_c45_read() is transformed by
get_phy_c45_devs_in_pkg() into -EIO, is further propagated to
of_mdiobus_register() and this makes the mdio-mux driver fail to probe
the entire child buses, not just the PHYs that cause access errors.

Fix the regression by introducing special c45 read and write accessors
to mdio-mux which forward the operation to the parent MDIO bus.

returning an error code. However the value returned is ignored (apart
from emitting a warning) and this typically results in resource leaks.
To improve here there is a quest to make the remove callback return
void. In the first step of this quest all drivers are converted to
.remove_new() which already returns void. Eventually after all drivers
are converted, .remove_new() is renamed to .remove().

Trivially convert this driver from always returning zero in the remove
callback to the void returning variant.

2572ce6241 net: mdio: mdio-bitbang: Fix C45 read/write protocol
Based on the original code semantic in case of Clause 45 MDIO, the address
command is supposed to be followed by the command sending the MMD address,
not the CSR address. The commit 002dd3de09 ("net: mdio: mdio-bitbang:
Separate C22 and C45 transactions") has erroneously broken that. So most
likely due to an unfortunate variable name it switched the code to sending
the CSR address. In our case it caused the protocol malfunction so the
read operation always failed with the turnaround bit always been driven to
one by PHY instead of zero. Fix that by getting back the correct
behaviour: sending MMD address command right after the regular address
command.

This is due to the fact that `of_id->data` is a void* while `enum

642af0f92c net: mdio: Introduce a regmap-based mdio driver
There exists several examples today of devices that embed an ethernet
PHY or PCS directly inside an SoC. In this situation, either the device
is controlled through a vendor-specific register set, or sometimes
exposes the standard 802.3 registers that are typically accessed over
MDIO.

As phylib and phylink are designed to use mdiodevices, this driver
allows creating a virtual MDIO bus, that translates mdiodev register
accesses to regmap accesses.

The reason we use regmap is because there are at least 3 such devices
known today, 2 of them are Altera TSE PCS's, memory-mapped, exposed
with a 4-byte stride in stmmac's dwmac-socfpga variant, and a 2-byte
stride in altera-tse. The other one (nxp,sja1110-base-tx-mdio) is
exposed over SPI.

As can be seen, the data in MIIM_DATA is still valid despite having the
MSCC_MIIM_DATA_ERROR bits set. The driver as introduced in commit
84705fc165 ("net: dsa: felix: introduce support for Seville VSC9953
switch") was ignoring these bits, perhaps deliberately (although
unbeknownst to me).

This is an old IP and the hardware team cannot seem to be able to help
me track down a plausible reason for these failures. I'll keep
investigating, but in the meantime, this is a direct regression which
must be restored to a working state.

The only thing I can do is keep ignoring the errors as before.
