e704b44b55 media: dvb-core: Enhance shared multi-frontend support
Drivers for devices with multiple frontends which cannot be used
concurrently due to hardware limitations which enforce that restriction
by setting the mfe_shared field to 1 exhibit rather unfriendly behavior
towards applications: The unavailable frontend devices cannot be opened
at all, not even for read-only access to query information. Even worse,
any open call is blocked for 5 seconds by default.

Allow drivers for such devices to behave like regular busy frontend
devices instead, i.e. still allowing concurrent read access to the
unavailable frontend and denying concurrent write access with -EBUSY
without delay.

This patch does not alter the behavior of any existing driver to avoid
regressions. Driver developers who wish to take advantage of this must
ensure their driver can handle all read-only accesses to the unavailable
frontend, and indicate the capability by setting the mfe_shared field to
2 instead of 1.

Add a check to dvb-usb-init.c when automatically setting the mfe_shared
field that when a driver has already set the field to 2, it is not
overwritten.

Document the additional capability in the code comment about mfe_shared.

e2a227185d media: dvb_frontend: add missing DSS switch cases
While the documentation mentions the delivery system DSS as a satellite
system, it was missing from all but one switch statement in the DVB
frontend code, leading to tuning failures, because the frequency was not
correctly handled as being in kHz rather than Hz.

Add the missing switch cases so that DSS is handled like the other
satellite systems. For the rolloff, assume 0.20 as per one publication
found via Internet search.

fd3d91ab1c media: dvb-core: Fix UAF due to refcount races at releasing
The dvb-core tries to sync the releases of opened files at
dvb_dmxdev_release() with two refcounts: dvbdev->users and
dvr_dvbdev->users. A problem is present in those two syncs: when yet
another dvb_demux_open() is called during those sync waits,
dvb_demux_open() continues to process even if the device is being
closed. This includes the increment of the former refcount, resulting
in the leftover refcount after the sync of the latter refcount at
dvb_dmxdev_release(). It ends up with use-after-free, since the
function believes that all usages were gone and releases the
resources.

This patch addresses the problem by adding the check of dmxdev->exit
flag at dvb_demux_open(), just like dvb_dvr_open() already does. With
the exit flag check, the second call of dvb_demux_open() fails, hence
the further corruption can be avoided.

Also for avoiding the races of the dmxdev->exit flag reference, this
patch serializes the dmxdev->exit set up and the sync waits with the
dmxdev->mutex lock at dvb_dmxdev_release(). Without the mutex lock,
dvb_demux_open() (or dvb_dvr_open()) may run concurrently with
dvb_dmxdev_release(), which allows to skip the exit flag check and
continue the open process that is being closed.

CVE-2022-41218 is assigned to those bugs above.

9958d30f38 media: Kconfig: cleanup VIDEO_DEV dependencies
media Kconfig has two entries associated to V4L API:
VIDEO_DEV and VIDEO_V4L2.

On Kernel 2.6.x, there were two V4L APIs, each one with its own flag.
VIDEO_DEV were meant to:
	1) enable Video4Linux and make its Kconfig options to appear;
	2) it makes the Kernel build the V4L core.

while VIDEO_V4L2 where used to distinguish between drivers that
implement the newer API and drivers that implemented the former one.

With time, such meaning changed, specially after the removal of
all V4L version 1 drivers.

At the current implementation, VIDEO_DEV only does (1): it enables
the media options related to V4L, that now has:

	menu "Video4Linux options"
		visible if VIDEO_DEV

	source "drivers/media/v4l2-core/Kconfig"
	endmenu

but it doesn't affect anymore the V4L core drivers.

The rationale is that the V4L2 core has a "soft" dependency
at the I2C bus, and now requires to select a number of other
Kconfig options:

	config VIDEO_V4L2
		tristate
		depends on (I2C || I2C=n) && VIDEO_DEV
		select RATIONAL
		select VIDEOBUF2_V4L2 if VIDEOBUF2_CORE
		default (I2C || I2C=n) && VIDEO_DEV

In the past, merging them would be tricky, but it seems that it is now
possible to merge those symbols, in order to simplify V4L dependencies.

Let's keep VIDEO_DEV, as this one is used on some make *defconfig
configurations.

98a1ca2976 media: media dvb_frontend: add suspend and resume callbacks to dvb_frontend_ops
While dvb_tuner_ops already has dedicated suspend and resume callbacks,
dvb_frontend_ops currently does not have them. Add those callbacks and
use them for suspend and resume. If they are not set, the old behavior
of calling sleep or init is used.

This allows dvb_frontend drivers to handle resume differently from init,
and suspend differently from sleep. No change is required for drivers
not needing this functionality.

707182e45b media: use eth_hw_addr_set()
Commit 406f42fa0d ("net-next: When a bond have a massive amount
of VLANs...") introduced a rbtree for faster Ethernet address look
up. To maintain netdev->dev_addr in this tree we need to make all
the writes to it go through appropriate helpers.

Convert media from memcpy(... 6) and memcpy(... addr_len) to
eth_hw_addr_set():

  @@
  expression dev, np;
  @@
  - memcpy(dev->dev_addr, np, 6)
  + eth_hw_addr_set(dev, np)
  @@
  - memcpy(dev->dev_addr, np, dev->addr_len)
  + eth_hw_addr_set(dev, np)

Make sure we don't cast off const qualifier from dev->dev_addr.

b00a9e59c5 media: videobuf2: add queue memory coherency parameter
Preparations for future V4L2_MEMORY_FLAG_NON_COHERENT support.

Extend the vb2_core_reqbufs() parameters list to accept requests'
->flags, which will be used for memory coherency configuration.

An attempt to allocate a buffer with coherency requirements
that do not match the queue's consistency model will fail.

60f0618d15 media: dvb-core: frontend: make GET/SET safer
The implementation for FE_SET_PROPERTY/FE_GET_PROPERTY has
a debug code that might be explored via spectre.
Improve the logic in order to mitigate such risk.

It should be noticed that, before this patch, the logic
which implements FE_GET_PROPERTY doesn't check the length passed
by the user, which might lead to expose some information. This
is probably not exploitable, though, as the frontend drivers
won't rely on the buffer length value set by userspace, but
it helps to return a valid value back to userspace.

The code was changed to only try to access an array based on
userspace values only when DVB debug is turned on, helping to
reduce the attack surface, as a speculation attack would work
only if DVB dev_dbg() macros are enabled, which is usually
enabled only on test Kernels or by the root user.

As a side effect, a const array size can now be reduced by
~570 bytes, as it now needs to contain just the name of each
DTV command.

abc0226df6 media: dvb_net: avoid speculation from net slot
The risk of especulation is actually almost-non-existing here,
as there are very few users of TCP/IP using the DVB stack,
as, this is mainly used with DVB-S/S2 cards, and only by people
that receives TCP/IP from satellite connections, which limits
a lot the number of users of such feature(*).

(*) In thesis, DVB-C cards could also benefit from it, but I'm
yet to see a hardware that supports it.

Yet, fixing it is trivial.

As warned by smatch:
	drivers/media/dvb-core/dvb_ca_en50221.c:1392 dvb_ca_en50221_io_do_ioctl() warn: potential spectre issue 'ca->slot_info' [r] (local cap)

There's a potential of using a CAM ioctl for speculation.

The risk here is minimum, as only a small subset of DVB
boards have CI, with a CAM module installed. Also, exploiting
it would require a user capable of starting a DVB application.

There are probably a lot of easier ways to try to exploit.

Yet, it doesn't harm addressing it.

3d42c93e5f media: dmxdev: change the check for problems allocing secfeed
While the logic there is right, it tricks static check analyzers,
like smatch:

	drivers/media/dvb-core/dmxdev.c:729 dvb_dmxdev_filter_start() error: we previously assumed '*secfeed' could be null (see line 719)

Because the implementation of the filter itself is made via
a callback, with its real implementation at the
dvbdmx_allocate_section_feed() inside dvb_demux.c.

So, change the check logic to make it clear that the function
will not try to use *secfeed == NULL.

548ad8ee68 media: dvb_frontend: warn if frontend driver has API issues
the kAPI for a frontend can use 3 different tuning methods:

1. The hardware tracks internally frequency shifts via its
   own internal zigzag logic;
2. The hardware has a custom zigzag method, implemented via
   fe search() ops;
3. The hardware doesn't have any internal zigzag logic. So,
   the Kernel needs to implement it.

Drivers that use the in-kernel software zigzag are required to
provide some parameters for the zigzag code to work. Failing
to do that will just make the Kernel to tune several times
to the very same frequency, delaying the tuning time for
no good reason. This is actually a kAPI violation
(and an uAPI one, as the frequency shift is exported to the
uAPI).

Emit a warning on such case, as the driver needs to be fixed.

The patch partially reverts some of the UAPI bits of the buffer
cache management hints. Namely, the queue consistency (memory
coherency) user-space hint because, as it turned out, the kernel
implementation of this feature was misusing DMA_ATTR_NON_CONSISTENT.

The patch reverts both kernel and user space parts: removes the
DMA consistency attr functions, rolls back changes to v4l2_requestbuffers,
v4l2_create_buffers structures and corresponding UAPI functions
(plus compat32 layer) and cleans up the documentation.

7b4b45555c media: videobuf2: add queue memory consistency parameter
Preparations for future V4L2_FLAG_MEMORY_NON_CONSISTENT support.

Extend vb2_core_reqbufs() parameters list to accept requests'
->flags, which will be used for memory consistency configuration.

An attempt to allocate a buffer with consistency requirements
which don't match queue's consistency model will fail.

9f984cacf4 media: dvbdev: Fix tuner->demod media controller link
Fixes bug exposed by:

[a3fbc2e6bb0: media: mc-entity.c: use WARN_ON, validate link pads]

The dvbdev incorrectly requests a tuner sink pad to connect to a demux
sink pad. The media controller failure percolates back and the dvb device
creation fails. Fix this by requesting a tuner source pad. Instead of
forcing that pad to be index zero, check if a negative integer error
is returned. A note is added that first source pad found is chosen.

Affected bridges cx231xx and em28xx printed the below warning[s]
when a variety of media controller dvb enabled devices were connected.
The warning returns an error causing all affected devices to fail DVB
device creation.

In dvb_create_media_entity(), 'dvbdev->entity' is allocated through
kzalloc(). Then, 'dvbdev->pads' is allocated through kcalloc(). However, if
kcalloc() fails, the allocated 'dvbdev->entity' is not deallocated, leading
to a memory leak bug. To fix this issue, free 'dvbdev->entity' before
returning -ENOMEM.

kmemdup is introduced to duplicate a region of memory in a neat way.
Rather than kmalloc/kzalloc + memcpy, which the programmer needs to

14e3cdbb00 media: don't drop front-end reference count for ->detach
A bugfix introduce a link failure in configurations without CONFIG_MODULES:

In file included from drivers/media/usb/dvb-usb/pctv452e.c:20:0:
drivers/media/usb/dvb-usb/pctv452e.c: In function 'pctv452e_frontend_attach':
drivers/media/dvb-frontends/stb0899_drv.h:151:36: error: weak declaration of 'stb0899_attach' being applied to a already existing, static definition

The problem is that the !IS_REACHABLE() declaration of stb0899_attach()
is a 'static inline' definition that clashes with the weak definition.

I further observed that the bugfix was only done for one of the five users
of stb0899_attach(), the other four still have the problem. This reverts
the bugfix and instead addresses the problem by not dropping the reference
count when calling '->detach()', instead we call this function directly
in dvb_frontend_put() before dropping the kref on the front-end.

I first submitted this in early 2018, and after some discussion it
was apparently discarded. While there is a long-term plan in place,
that plan is obviously not nearing completion yet, and the current

15a98fb2fc media: dvb_frontend: split dvb_frontend_handle_ioctl function
Over time, dvb_frontend_handle_ioctl() has grown to the point where
we now get a warning from the compiler about excessive stack usage:

drivers/media/dvb-core/dvb_frontend.c: In function 'dvb_frontend_handle_ioctl':
drivers/media/dvb-core/dvb_frontend.c:2692:1: error: the frame size of 1048 bytes is larger than 1024 bytes [-Werror=frame-larger-than=]

Almost all of this is used by the dtv_frontend_properties structure
in the FE_GET_PROPERTY and FE_GET_FRONTEND commands. Splitting those
into separate function reduces the stack usage of the main function
to just 136 bytes, the others are under 500 each.

2f39cce963 media: remove redundant 'default n' from Kconfig-s
'default n' is the default value for any bool or tristate Kconfig
setting so there is no need to write it explicitly.

Also since commit f467c5640c ("kconfig: only write '# CONFIG_FOO
is not set' for visible symbols") the Kconfig behavior is the same
regardless of 'default n' being present or not:

    ...
    One side effect of (and the main motivation for) this change is making
    the following two definitions behave exactly the same:

        config FOO
                bool

        config FOO
                bool
                default n

    With this change, neither of these will generate a
    '# CONFIG_FOO is not set' line (assuming FOO isn't selected/implied).
    That might make it clearer to people that a bare 'default n' is
    redundant.

Pull new experimental media request API from Mauro Carvalho Chehab:
 "A new media request API

  This API is needed to support device drivers that can dynamically
  change their parameters for each new frame. The latest versions of
  Google camera and codec HAL depends on such feature.

  At this stage, it supports only stateless codecs.

  It has been discussed for a long time (at least over the last 3-4
  years), and we finally reached to something that seem to work.

  This series contain both the API and core changes required to support
  it and a new m2m decoder driver (cedrus).

  As the current API is still experimental, the only real driver using
  it (cedrus) was added at staging[1]. We intend to keep it there for a
  while, in order to test the API. Only when we're sure that this API
  works for other cases (like encoders), we'll move this driver out of
  staging and set the API into a stone.

  [1] We added support for the vivid virtual driver (used only for
  testing) to it too, as it makes easier to test the API for the ones
  that don't have the cedrus hardware"

vb2_v4l2_buffer. Currently this information is applied by
__fill_vb2_buffer() which is called by the core prepare_buf

aren't called yet since the buffer won't be prepared until
the media request is actually queued.

In the meantime this information has to be stored somewhere

ENABLED. But (at least today) these links cannot be disabled by userspace
or the driver, so they should also be marked as IMMUTABLE.

It might become possible that drivers can disable such links (if for some
reason the device node cannot be used), so we might need to add a new link
flag at some point to mark interface links that can be changed by the driver
but not by userspace.

42bc47b353 treewide: Use array_size() in vmalloc()
The vmalloc() function has no 2-factor argument form, so multiplication
factors need to be wrapped in array_size(). This patch replaces cases of:

        vmalloc(a * b)

with:
        vmalloc(array_size(a, b))

as well as handling cases of:

        vmalloc(a * b * c)

with:

        vmalloc(array3_size(a, b, c))

This does, however, attempt to ignore constant size factors like:

        vmalloc(4 * 1024)

though any constants defined via macros get caught up in the conversion.

Any factors with a sizeof() of "unsigned char", "char", and "u8" were
dropped, since they're redundant.

The Coccinelle script used for this was:

// Fix redundant parens around sizeof().

        for f in $L; do sed -i "-es/^\([^\"]*\)\(\<POLL$V\>\)/\\1E\\2/" $f; done
    done

with de-mangling cleanups yet to come.

NOTE! On almost all architectures, the EPOLL* constants have the same
values as the POLL* constants do. But they keyword here is "almost".
For various bad reasons they aren't the same, and epoll() doesn't
actually work quite correctly in some cases due to this on Sparc et al.

The next patch from Al will sort out the final differences, and we

168fe32a07 Merge branch 'misc.poll' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/viro/vfs
Pull poll annotations from Al Viro:
 "This introduces a __bitwise type for POLL### bitmap, and propagates
  the annotations through the tree. Most of that stuff is as simple as
  'make ->poll() instances return __poll_t and do the same to local
  variables used to hold the future return value'.

  Some of the obvious brainos found in process are fixed (e.g. POLLIN
  misspelled as POLL_IN). At that point the amount of sparse warnings is
  low and most of them are for genuine bugs - e.g. ->poll() instance
  deciding to return -EINVAL instead of a bitmap. I hadn't touched those
  in this series - it's large enough as it is.

  Another problem it has caught was eventpoll() ABI mess; select.c and
  eventpoll.c assumed that corresponding POLL### and EPOLL### were
  equal. That's true for some, but not all of them - EPOLL### are
  arch-independent, but POLL### are not.

  The last commit in this series separates userland POLL### values from
  the (now arch-independent) kernel-side ones, converting between them
  in the few places where they are copied to/from userland. AFAICS, this
  is the least disruptive fix preserving poll(2) ABI and making epoll()
  work on all architectures.

  As it is, it's simply broken on sparc - try to give it EPOLLWRNORM and
  it will trigger only on what would've triggered EPOLLWRBAND on other
  architectures. EPOLLWRBAND and EPOLLRDHUP, OTOH, are never triggered
  at all on sparc. With this patch they should work consistently on all
  architectures"

57868acc36 media: videobuf2: Add new uAPI for DVB streaming I/O
Adds a new uAPI for DVB to use streaming I/O which is implemented
based on videobuf2, using those new ioctls:

- DMX_REQBUFS: Request kernel to allocate buffers which count and size
	        are dedicated by user.
- DMX_QUERYBUF: Get the buffer information like a memory offset which
		will mmap() and be shared with user-space.
- DMX_EXPBUF: Just for testing whether buffer-exporting success or not.
- DMX_QBUF:     Pass the buffer to kernel-space.
- DMX_DQBUF: Get back the buffer which may contain TS data.

Originally developed by: Junghak Sung <jh1009.sung@samsung.com>, as
seen at:
	https://patchwork.linuxtv.org/patch/31613/
	https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/7334301/

The original patch was written before merging VB2-core functionalities
upstream. When such series was added, several adjustments were made,
fixing some issues with	V4L2, causing the original patch to be
non-trivially rebased.

After rebased, a few bugs in the patch were fixed. The patch was
also enhanced it and polling functionality got added.

The main changes over the original patch are:

dvb_vb2_fill_buffer():
	- Set the size of the outgoing buffer after while loop using
	  vb2_set_plane_payload;

	- Added NULL check for source buffer as per normal convention
	  of demux driver, this is called twice, first time with valid
	  buffer second time with NULL pointer, if its not handled,
	  it will result in  crash

	- Restricted spinlock for only list_* operations

dvb_vb2_init():
	- Restricted q->io_modes to only VB2_MMAP as its the only
	  supported mode

dvb_vb2_release():
	- Replaced the && in if condiion with &, because otherwise
	  it was always getting satisfied.

dvb_vb2_stream_off():
	- Added list_del code for enqueud buffers upon stream off

dvb_vb2_poll():
	- Added this new function in order to support polling

dvb_demux_poll() and dvb_dvr_poll()
	- dvb_vb2_poll() is now called from these functions

- Ported this patch and latest videobuf2 to lower kernel versions and
  tested auto scan.
