1db73ce018 dpll: zl3073x: add PTP clock support
Add PTP clock support for the ZL3073x DPLL driver. A PTP clock device
is registered for each DPLL channel regardless of the initial channel
state, providing gettimex64, settime64, adjtime, adjfine, adjphase
and getmaxphase callbacks.

Callback availability depends on the current channel state:
- adjfine: when NCO pin is connected (returns -EOPNOTSUPP otherwise)
- adjphase: available when tracking a reference, uses TIE write
- adjtime: always available and uses
  * phase step for sub-second deltas when NCO pin is connected
  * TIE write when tracking a reference
  * plain ToD read-modify-write otherwise
- gettime/settime: always available

The adjtime callback splits multi-second adjustments into a ToD
read-modify-write for the seconds part and a sub-second mechanism
(phase step or TIE write) for the remainder. On partial failure
where seconds were already committed, success is returned to
prevent the PTP servo from retrying and applying seconds again.

All PTP callbacks are serialized by the existing per-DPLL zldpll->lock
mutex, which is also used by DPLL pin and device callbacks.

2dbf9b7562 dpll: zl3073x: add channel ToD, phase step and TIE operations
Add low-level DPLL channel operations for ToD read/write/adjust,
output phase step, delta frequency offset write and TIE (Time
Interval Error) write. These serve as building blocks for the PTP
clock callbacks added in the next patch.

ToD operations use a wait-before-write pattern to avoid blocking
after each operation.

The tod_ready_wait helper selects the poll timeout based on the
current ToD command - write operations use a longer timeout (1000 ms)
than reads (30 ms).

The ToD read captures system timestamps (ptp_system_timestamp) around
the HW command and completion poll to support cross-timestamping.

The TIE write operation provides sub-picosecond resolution phase
adjustment for modes where the DPLL is tracking a reference
(AUTO and REFLOCK).

Add output step-time mask to struct zl3073x_dev and
zl3073x_dev_out_is_stepped() helper to check if an output
participates in step-time operations.

c364618254 dpll: zl3073x: scale poll interval proportionally to timeout
Replace the fixed 10 us poll sleep in zl3073x_poll_zero_u8() with
timeout_us / 50, scaling the sleep interval proportionally to the
timeout for all callers.

Testing showed that existing callers (mailbox, HWREG, DF read,
frequency measurement and phase error polls with 25-50 ms timeouts)
typically completed in low hundreds of sleep cycles with the fixed
10 us interval. With the scaled interval the cycle count drops to
single digits. The longer PTP-related timeouts (up to 3000 ms for
phase step) added in the following patches benefit most, avoiding
on the order of 10^5 bus transactions per wait.

346630e46b dpll: zl3073x: update all DPLL channels on ref_sync_set
zl3073x_dpll_input_pin_ref_sync_set() excludes the sync source from
automatic reference selection by setting its priority to NONE, but
currently only does this on the single DPLL channel whose pin_priv
was passed to the callback.

Since input pins are registered with every DPLL channel, the datasheet
recommends covering all channels to prevent the sync source from
remaining a selectable candidate on the other channels. This is
a preparation for the following patch which changes the DPLL core to
invoke pin-level set callbacks only through the pin owner's reference
instead of iterating over all registered DPLL devices.

Replace the single-channel priority write with a list_for_each_entry()
loop over all DPLL channels. Each channel's lock is acquired
individually for its read-modify-write sequence. The guard(mutex) is
replaced with explicit mutex_lock/mutex_unlock to allow releasing the
owner's lock before iterating, avoiding nested locking of the same
mutex class. A change notification is sent for the sync pin if any
channel's priority was actually modified.

24e4aff898 dpll: zl3073x: recognize the ZL30643 chip ID (0x0E3B)
The Microchip ZL30643 is a 3-channel ZL3064x line-card part that is
register compatible with the ZL30733. Only the runtime chip-ID table
needs the 0x0E3B entry so the probe resolves the channel count (3)

3553976ffe dpll: zl3073x: add NCO virtual input pin
Add a virtual NCO (Numerically Controlled Oscillator) input pin that
lets userspace switch a DPLL channel into NCO mode. A single NCO pin
is shared across all DPLL channels - each channel has its own
independent connection state. The NCO pin is registered with the new
DPLL_PIN_TYPE_INT_NCO type and reports DPLL_PIN_STATE_CONNECTED /
DPLL_PIN_OPERSTATE_ACTIVE when the channel is in NCO mode.

At NCO pin registration the following bits are configured in
dpll_ctrl_x:
  - nco_auto_read: auto-capture tracking offset on NCO entry
  - tod_step_reset: apply negated ToD step accumulator on NCO exit
  - tie_clear: PPS DPLLs set 1 to re-align outputs on NCO exit,
               EEC DPLLs keep 0 to prevent an unwanted TIE write

Before switching to NCO mode, dpll_df_read_x is configured with
ref_ofst=0 and cmd=ACC_I so that nco_auto_read captures the
accumulated I-part offset relative to the master clock. Without
this, the captured df_offset would be near zero (offset relative
to the input reference after lock).

On NCO entry the df_offset captured by nco_auto_read is read from
the register. Per the datasheet, nco_auto_read only captures a valid
offset when entering NCO from reflock, auto or holdover mode; from
freerun the captured value is not meaningful and df_offset is marked as
ZL_DPLL_DF_OFFSET_UNKNOWN. The same sentinel is set in
chan_state_update() when the channel is not locked, and both FFO
consumers (NCO pin and input pin) guard against it.

Disconnecting the NCO pin switches to freerun rather than holdover
because holdover averaging is not updated during NCO mode.

When connecting the NCO pin displaces a previously connected input
pin (reflock mode), a change notification is sent for that input pin.

Input reference pins are now always registered regardless of the
initial DPLL mode. Previously they were skipped when the DPLL was
in NCO mode, but the NCO pin provides the proper mechanism for
mode transitions.

21460118d7 dpll: zl3073x: add per-DPLL serialization lock
Add a per-DPLL mutex that serializes all operations on a given DPLL
channel across DPLL netlink callbacks, the periodic kthread worker,
and (in subsequent patches) PTP clock callbacks.

All DPLL pin and device callbacks that access mutable state take the
lock as the first operation. The periodic worker holds it for the
entire check cycle of each channel, deferring change notifications
until after the lock is released to avoid ABBA deadlock with
dpll_lock. This establishes the lock ordering:
dpll_lock (subsystem, outer) -> zldpll->lock (driver, inner).

Move zl3073x_chan_state_update() from the per-device
zl3073x_dev_chan_states_update() loop into the per-DPLL
zl3073x_dpll_changes_check() so it runs under zldpll->lock.
This serializes df_offset writes with all readers and
eliminates the need for separate df_offset synchronization.

Change pin->freq_offset from atomic64_t to plain s64 since all
readers and writers are now serialized by zldpll->lock, making
atomic access unnecessary.

c1224569ce dpll: zl3073x: make frequency monitor a per-device attribute
The frequency monitoring feature uses shared hardware registers
that measure input reference frequencies independently of
individual DPLL channels. However, the freq_monitor flag was
incorrectly placed in the per-DPLL structure, causing each
channel to track its own enable/disable state independently.

Since the DPLL core calls measured_freq_get() only for the first
pin registration, the measured_freq_check() in the periodic worker
was gated by the per-DPLL freq_monitor flag of whichever channel
happens to be checked. If the first DPLL channel had frequency
monitoring disabled while another had it enabled, measurements
were never reported.

Move freq_monitor from struct zl3073x_dpll to struct zl3073x_dev
so all DPLL channels share a single flag, matching the hardware
behavior. Update freq_monitor_set() to notify other DPLL devices
about the change (like phase_offset_avg_factor_set() already does)
and remove the mode-dependent guard in zl3073x_dpll_changes_check()
since all input pin monitoring (pin state, phase offset, FFO, and
measured frequency) works correctly in all DPLL modes.

d733f519f6 dpll: zl3073x: use __dpll_device_change_ntf() and remove change_work

the callbacks are already invoked under that lock. Now that
__dpll_device_change_ntf() is exported for callers that already
hold dpll_lock, use it directly and remove the change_work

This eliminates a race condition where change_work could be

CONFIG_FRAME_WARN more easily.

Switch internal helpers and exported driver APIs to pass pointers to

fa997ddef5 dpll: zl3073x: fix memory leak on pin registration failure
If zl3073x_dpll_pin_register() fails, the allocated pin is not yet
added to zldpll->pins list. The error path calls
zl3073x_dpll_pins_unregister() which only iterates pins on the list,
so the current pin is leaked. Free the pin before jumping to the error

Additionally move the pin->dpll_pin = NULL assignment in
zl3073x_dpll_pin_register() from err_register to the common
err_pin_get path. When dpll_pin_get() fails, pin->dpll_pin holds an
ERR_PTR value. Without this fix the subsequent zl3073x_dpll_pin_free()

54e65df8cf dpll: zl3073x: report FFO as DPLL vs input reference offset
Replace the per-reference frequency offset measurement (which was
redundant with measured-frequency) with a direct read of the DPLL's
delta frequency offset vs its tracked input reference.

The new implementation uses the dpll_df_offset_x register with
ref_ofst=1 via the dpll_df_read_x semaphore mechanism. This
provides 2^-48 resolution (~3.5 fE) and reports the actual
frequency difference between the DPLL and its active input.

Switch supported_ffo from DPLL_FFO_PORT_RXTX_RATE to
DPLL_FFO_PIN_DEVICE so FFO is reported only in the per-parent
context for the active input pin.

Use atomic64_t for freq_offset to prevent torn reads on 32-bit
architectures between the periodic worker and netlink callbacks.

Rewrite ffo_check to compare the cached df_offset converted to PPT
instead of using the old per-reference measurement. Remove the
ref_ffo_update periodic measurement and the ref ffo field since
they are no longer needed.

Changes v3 -> v4:

Add both fractional-frequency-offset (PPM) and
fractional-frequency-offset-ppt (PPT) attributes to the
pin-parent-device nested attribute set, alongside the existing
top-level pin attributes. Both carry the same measurement at
different precisions.

Introduce enum dpll_ffo_type and struct dpll_ffo_param to
distinguish FFO contexts: DPLL_FFO_PORT_RXTX_RATE for the RX vs
TX symbol rate offset reported at the top level, and
DPLL_FFO_PIN_DEVICE for the pin vs parent DPLL offset reported
in the pin-parent-device nest.

Add a supported_ffo bitmask to struct dpll_pin_ops so drivers
declare which FFO types they support. The core only calls ffo_get
for types the driver has opted into, eliminating the need for
per-driver NULL pointer guards. Validate at pin registration time
that supported_ffo is not set without an ffo_get callback.

Update mlx5 (DPLL_FFO_PORT_RXTX_RATE) and zl3073x

Add documentation for both FFO types to dpll.rst.

(connected in reflock mode, selectable in auto mode).

Switch periodic monitoring to track operstate changes instead of
the mixed admin/oper state that was previously reported.

14f269ae69 dpll: zl3073x: add ref-sync pair support
Add support for ref-sync pair registration using the 'ref-sync-sources'
phandle property from device tree. A ref-sync pair consists of a clock
reference and a low-frequency sync signal where the DPLL locks to the
clock reference but phase-aligns to the sync reference.

The implementation:
- Stores fwnode handle in zl3073x_dpll_pin during pin registration
- Adds ref_sync_get/set callbacks to read and write the sync control
  mode and pair registers
- Validates ref-sync frequency constraints: sync signal must be 8 kHz
  or less, clock reference must be 1 kHz or more and higher than sync
- Excludes sync source from automatic reference selection by setting
  its priority to NONE on connect; on disconnect the priority is left
  as NONE and the user must explicitly make the pin selectable again
- Iterates ref-sync-sources phandles to register declared pairings
  via dpll_pin_ref_sync_pair_add()

acee049a6a dpll: zl3073x: drop selected and simplify connected ref getter
The HW reports the currently selected reference in the
dpll_refsel_status register regardless of the DPLL mode. Use this to
delete zl3073x_dpll_selected_ref_get() and have callers read the
register directly via the cached channel state.

Simplify zl3073x_dpll_connected_ref_get() to check refsel_state for

since the DPLL cannot be in LOCK state with a failed reference.

f6b075bc3a dpll: zl3073x: add reference priority to zl3073x_chan
Cache the ZL_REG_DPLL_REF_PRIO registers in the zl3073x_chan cfg group.
These mailbox-based registers store per-reference priority values
(4 bits each, P/N packed) used for automatic reference selection.

Add ref_prio[] array to struct zl3073x_chan and provide inline helpers
zl3073x_chan_ref_prio_get(), zl3073x_chan_ref_prio_set(), and
zl3073x_chan_ref_is_selectable() for nibble-level access and priority
queries. Extend state_fetch and state_set with DPLL mailbox operations
to read and write the priority registers.

Replace the ad-hoc zl3073x_dpll_ref_prio_get/set functions in dpll.c
with the cached state pattern, removing direct mailbox access from
the DPLL layer. This also simplifies pin registration since reading
priority from cached state cannot fail.

Remove the pin->selectable flag from struct zl3073x_dpll_pin and
derive the selectable state from the cached ref priority via
zl3073x_chan_ref_is_selectable(), eliminating a redundant cache.

Inline zl3073x_dpll_selected_ref_set() into
zl3073x_dpll_input_pin_state_on_dpll_set(), unifying all manual and
automatic mode paths to commit changes through a single
zl3073x_chan_state_set() call at the end of the function.

Move hardware limit constants from core.h to regs.h so that chan.h
can reference ZL3073X_NUM_REFS for the ref_prio array size.

3032e95987 dpll: zl3073x: introduce zl3073x_chan for DPLL channel state
Extract DPLL channel state management into a dedicated zl3073x_chan
module, following the pattern already established by zl3073x_ref,
zl3073x_out and zl3073x_synth.

The new struct zl3073x_chan caches the raw mode_refsel register value
in a cfg group with inline getters and setters to extract and update
the bitfields. Three standard state management functions are provided:

 - zl3073x_chan_state_fetch: read the mode_refsel register from HW
 - zl3073x_chan_state_get: return cached channel state
 - zl3073x_chan_state_set: write changed state to HW, skip if unchanged

The channel state array chan[ZL3073X_MAX_CHANNELS] is added to struct
zl3073x_dev. Channel state is fetched as part of
zl3073x_dev_state_fetch, using the chip-specific channel count.

The refsel_mode and forced_ref fields are removed from struct
zl3073x_dpll and all direct register accesses in dpll.c are replaced
with the new chan state operations.

f327f5a811 dpll: zl3073x: use struct_group to partition states
Organize the zl3073x_out, zl3073x_ref, and zl3073x_synth structures
using struct_group() to partition fields into semantic groups:

  * cfg: mutable configuration written to HW via state_set
  * inv: invariant fields set once during state_fetch
  * stat: read-only status

This enables group-level operations in place of field-by-field copies:

  * state_set validates invariants haven't changed (WARN_ON + -EINVAL)
  * state_set short-circuits when cfg is unchanged
  * state_set copy entire groups in a single assignment instead of
    enumerating each field

Add kernel doc for zl3073x_out_state_set and zl3073x_ref_state_set

4845f2fff7 dpll: zl3073x: detect DPLL channel count from chip ID at runtime
Replace the five per-variant zl3073x_chip_info structures and their
exported symbol definitions with a single consolidated chip ID lookup
table. The chip variant is now detected at runtime by reading the chip
ID register from hardware and looking it up in the table, rather than
being selected at compile time via the bus driver match data.

Repurpose struct zl3073x_chip_info to hold a single chip ID, its
channel count, and a flags field. Introduce enum zl3073x_flags with
ZL3073X_FLAG_REF_PHASE_COMP_32 to replace the chip_id switch statement
in zl3073x_dev_is_ref_phase_comp_32bit(). Store a pointer to the
detected chip_info entry in struct zl3073x_dev for runtime access.

This simplifies the bus drivers by removing per-variant .data and
.driver_data references from the I2C/SPI match tables, and makes
adding support for new chip variants a single-line table addition.

4cfe066a82 dpll: zl3073x: fix REF_PHASE_OFFSET_COMP register width for some chip IDs
The REF_PHASE_OFFSET_COMP register is 48-bit wide on most zl3073x chip
variants, but only 32-bit wide on chip IDs 0x0E30, 0x0E93..0x0E97 and
0x1F60. The driver unconditionally uses 48-bit read/write operations,
which on 32-bit variants causes reading 2 bytes past the register
boundary (corrupting the value) and writing 2 bytes into the adjacent
register.

Fix this by storing the chip ID in the device structure during probe
and adding a helper to detect the affected variants. Use the correct
register width for read/write operations and the matching sign extension
bit (31 vs 47) when interpreting the phase compensation value.

they definitely exist, but this covers the vast bulk of the cases, and
the resulting diff is also then easier to check automatically.

For the same reason the 'flex' versions will be done as a separate
conversion.

69050f8d6d treewide: Replace kmalloc with kmalloc_obj for non-scalar types
This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from
scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. The script is designed to
avoid scalar types (which need careful case-by-case checking), and
instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union
object instances:

Single allocations:	kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...)

Array allocations:	kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...)

Flex array allocations:	kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...)

(where TYPE may also be *VAR)

The resulting allocations no longer return "void *", instead returning
"TYPE *".

a047497f95 dpll: zl3073x: Fix ref frequency setting
The frequency for an input reference is computed as:

  frequency = freq_base * freq_mult * freq_ratio_m / freq_ratio_n

Before commit 5bc02b190a ("dpll: zl3073x: Cache all reference
properties in zl3073x_ref"), zl3073x_dpll_input_pin_frequency_set()
explicitly wrote 1 to both the REF_RATIO_M and REF_RATIO_N hardware
registers whenever a new frequency was set. This ensured the FEC ratio
was always reset to 1:1 alongside the new base/multiplier values.

The refactoring in that commit introduced zl3073x_ref_freq_set() to
update the cached ref state, but this helper only sets freq_base and
freq_mult without resetting freq_ratio_m and freq_ratio_n to 1. Because
zl3073x_ref_state_set() uses a compare-and-write strategy, unchanged
ratio fields are never written to the hardware. If the device previously
had non-unity FEC ratio values, they remain in effect after a frequency
change, resulting in an incorrect computed frequency.

Explicitly set freq_ratio_m and freq_ratio_n to 1 in zl3073x_ref_freq_set()
to restore the original behavior.

85a9aaac4a dpll: zl3073x: Include current frequency in supported frequencies list
Ensure the current pin frequency is always present in the list of
supported frequencies reported to userspace. Previously, if the
firmware node was missing or didn't include the current operating
frequency in the supported-frequencies-hz property, the pin would
report a frequency that wasn't in its supported list.

Get the current frequency early in zl3073x_pin_props_get():
- For input pins: use zl3073x_dev_ref_freq_get()
- For output pins: use zl3073x_dev_output_pin_freq_get()

Place the current frequency at index 0 of the supported frequencies
array, then append frequencies from the firmware node (if present),
skipping any duplicate of the current frequency.

24e4336a87 dpll: zl3073x: Add output pin frequency helper
Introduce zl3073x_dev_output_pin_freq_get() helper function to compute
the output pin frequency based on synthesizer frequency, output divisor,
and signal format. For N-div signal formats, the N-pin frequency is
additionally divided by esync_n_period.

Add zl3073x_out_is_ndiv() helper to check if an output is configured
in N-div mode (2_NDIV or 2_NDIV_INV signal formats).

Refactor zl3073x_dpll_output_pin_frequency_get() callback to use the
new helper, reducing code duplication and enabling reuse of the
frequency calculation logic in other contexts.

This is a preparatory change for adding current frequency to the
supported frequencies list in pin properties.

5d41f95f5d dpll: zl3073x: Fix output pin phase adjustment sign
The output pin phase adjustment functions incorrectly negate the phase
compensation value.

Per the ZL3073x datasheet, the output phase compensation register is
simply a signed two's complement integer where:
 - Positive values move the phase later in time
 - Negative values move the phase earlier in time

No negation is required. The erroneous negation caused phase adjustments
to be applied in the wrong direction.

Note that input pin phase adjustment correctly uses negation because the
hardware has an inverted convention for input references (positive moves
phase earlier, negative moves phase later).

085ca5d201 drivers: Add support for DPLL reference count tracking
Update existing DPLL drivers to utilize the DPLL reference count
tracking infrastructure.

Add dpll_tracker fields to the drivers' internal device and pin
structures. Pass pointers to these trackers when calling
dpll_device_get/put() and dpll_pin_get/put().

This allows developers to inspect the specific references held by this
driver via debugfs when CONFIG_DPLL_REFCNT_TRACKER is enabled, aiding
in the debugging of resource leaks.

3c0da1030c dpll: Add reference count tracking support
Add support for the REF_TRACKER infrastructure to the DPLL subsystem.

When enabled, this allows developers to track and debug reference counting
leaks or imbalances for dpll_device and dpll_pin objects. It records stack
traces for every get/put operation and exposes this information via
debugfs at:
  /sys/kernel/debug/ref_tracker/dpll_device_*
  /sys/kernel/debug/ref_tracker/dpll_pin_*

The following API changes are made to support this:
1. dpll_device_get() / dpll_device_put() now accept a 'dpll_tracker *'
   (which is a typedef to 'struct ref_tracker *' when enabled, or an empty
   struct otherwise).
2. dpll_pin_get() / dpll_pin_put() and fwnode_dpll_pin_find() similarly
   accept the tracker argument.
3. Internal registration structures now hold a tracker to associate the
   reference held by the registration with the specific owner.

All existing in-tree drivers (ice, mlx5, ptp_ocp, zl3073x) are updated
to pass NULL for the new tracker argument, maintaining current behavior
while enabling future debugging capabilities.

bc443c253f dpll: expose fractional frequency offset in ppt
Currently, the dpll subsystem exports the fractional frequency offset
(FFO) in parts per million (ppm). This granularity is insufficient for
high-precision synchronization scenarios which often require parts per
trillion (ppt) resolution.

Add a new netlink attribute DPLL_A_PIN_FRACTIONAL_FREQUENCY_OFFSET_PPT
to expose the FFO in ppt.

Update the dpll netlink core to expect the driver-provided FFO value
to be in ppt. To maintain backward compatibility with existing userspace
tools, populate the legacy DPLL_A_PIN_FRACTIONAL_FREQUENCY_OFFSET
attribute by dividing the new ppt value by 1,000,000.

Update the zl3073x and mlx5 drivers to provide the FFO value in ppt:
- zl3073x: adjust the fixed-point calculation to produce ppt (10^12)
  instead of ppm (10^6).
- mlx5: scale the existing ppm value by 1,000,000.

d6df0dea24 dpll: zl3073x: Implement device mode setting support
Add support for .supported_modes_get() and .mode_set() callbacks
to enable switching between manual and automatic modes via netlink.

Implement .supported_modes_get() to report available modes based
on the current hardware configuration:

* manual mode is always supported
* automatic mode is supported unless the dpll channel is configured
  in NCO (Numerically Controlled Oscillator) mode

Implement .mode_set() to handle the specific logic required when
transitioning between modes:

1) Transition to manual:
* If a valid reference is currently active, switch the hardware
  to ref-lock mode (force lock to that reference).
* If no reference is valid and the DPLL is unlocked, switch to freerun.
* Otherwise, switch to Holdover.

2) Transition to automatic:
* If the currently selected reference pin was previously marked
  as non-selectable (likely during a previous manual forcing
  operation), restore its priority and selectability in the hardware.
* Switch the hardware to Automatic selection mode.
