78cb66caa6 hwrng: mtk - Use devm_pm_runtime_enable
Replace pm_runtime_enable with the devres-enabled version which
can trigger pm_runtime_disable.

9c2797093a hwrng: rockchip - rst is used only during probe
The driver uses the rst variable only for an initial reset when the chip
is probed. There's no need to store rst in the driver's private data, we
can make it a local variable in the probe function.

065c547d95 hwrng: mxc-rnga - Use devm_clk_get_enabled() helpers
The devm_clk_get_enabled() helpers:
    - call devm_clk_get()
    - call clk_prepare_enable() and register what is needed in order to
     call clk_disable_unprepare() when needed, as a managed resource.

This simplifies the code and avoids the calls to clk_disable_unprepare().

dcf4fef663 hwrng: rockchip - add hwrng driver for Rockchip RK3568 SoC
Rockchip SoCs used to have a random number generator as part of their
crypto device, and support for it has to be added to the corresponding
driver. However newer Rockchip SoCs like the RK3568 have an independent
True Random Number Generator device. This patch adds a driver for it,
greatly inspired from the downstream driver.

The TRNG device does not seem to have a signal conditionner and the FIPS
140-2 test returns a lot of failures. They can be reduced by increasing
RK_RNG_SAMPLE_CNT, in a tradeoff between quality and speed. This value
has been adjusted to get ~90% of successes and the quality value has
been set accordingly.

9d3a7ff2ce hwrng: cn10k - Enable by default CN10K driver if Thunder SoC is enabled
Before commit addea5858b ("hwrng: Kconfig - Do not enable by default
CN10K driver") the Marvell CN10K Random Number Generator was always
enabled when HW_RANDOM was enabled.

This was changed with that commit to prevent having this driver being
always enabled on arm64. To prevent introducing regression with some old
defconfig enable the driver when ARCH_THUNDER is enabled.

addea5858b hwrng: Kconfig - Do not enable by default CN10K driver
Do not enable by default the CN10K HW random generator driver.

CN10K Random Number Generator is available only on some specific
Marvell SoCs, however the driver is in practice enabled by default on
all arm64 configs.

95c0f5c3b8 hwrng: core - Fix wrong quality calculation at hw rng registration
When there are rng sources registering at the hwrng core via
hwrng_register() a struct hwrng is delivered. There is a quality
field in there which is used to decide which of the registered
hw rng sources will be used by the hwrng core.

With commit 16bdbae394 ("hwrng: core - treat default_quality as
a maximum and default to 1024") there came in a new default of
1024 in case this field is empty and all the known hw rng sources
at that time had been reworked to not fill this field and thus
use the default of 1024.

The code choosing the 'better' hw rng source during registration
of a new hw rng source has never been adapted to this and thus
used 0 if the hw rng implementation does not fill the quality field.
So when two rng sources register, one with 0 (meaning 1024) and
the other one with 999, the 999 hw rng will be chosen.

As the later invoked function hwrng_init() anyway adjusts the
quality field of the hw rng source, this adjustment is now done
during registration of this new hw rng source.

Tested on s390 with two hardware rng sources: crypto cards and
trng true random generator device driver.

10bb6ac8f8 hwrng: exynos - Add SMC based TRNG operation
On some Exynos chips like Exynos850 the access to Security Sub System
(SSS) registers is protected with TrustZone, and therefore only possible
from EL3 monitor software. The Linux kernel is running in EL1, so the
only way for the driver to obtain TRNG data is via SMC calls to EL3
monitor. Implement such SMC operation and use it when EXYNOS_SMC flag is
set in the corresponding chip driver data.

81da8056e9 hwrng: exynos - Use devm_clk_get_enabled() to get the clock
Use devm_clk_get_enabled() helper instead of calling devm_clk_get() and
then clk_prepare_enable(). It simplifies the error handling and makes
the code more compact. Also use dev_err_probe() to handle possible
-EPROBE_DEFER errors if the clock is not available yet.

f134d5dce9 hwrng: stm32 - use pm_runtime_resume_and_get()
include/linux/pm_runtime.h pm_runtime_get_sync() description suggests to
... consider using pm_runtime_resume_and_get() instead of it, especially
if its return value is checked by the caller, as this is likely to result
in cleaner code.

This is indeed better, switch to pm_runtime_resume_and_get() which
correctly suspends the device again in case of failure. Also add error
checking into the RNG driver in case pm_runtime_resume_and_get() does
fail, which is currently not done, and it does detect sporadic -EACCES
error return after resume, which would otherwise lead to a hang due to
register access on un-resumed hardware. Now the read simply errors out
and the system does not hang.

14cba6ace7 hwrng: amd - Convert PCIBIOS_* return codes to errnos
amd_rng_mod_init() uses pci_read_config_dword() that returns PCIBIOS_*
codes. The return code is then returned as is but amd_rng_mod_init() is
a module_init() function that should return normal errnos.

Convert PCIBIOS_* returns code using pcibios_err_to_errno() into normal
errno before returning it.

A potential deadlock was reported with the config file at

In this particular configuration, the deadlock doesn't exist because
the warning triggered at a point before modules were even available.
However, the deadlock can be real because any module loaded would
invoke async_synchronize_full.

The issue is spurious for software crypto algorithms which aren't
themselves involved in async probing.  However, it would be hard to
avoid for a PCI crypto driver using async probing.

In this particular call trace, the problem is easily avoided because
the only reason the module is being requested during probing is the
add_early_randomness call in the hwrng core.  This feature is
vestigial since there is now a kernel thread dedicated to doing
exactly this.

So remove add_early_randomness as it is no longer needed.

c819d7b836 hwrng: stm32 - repair clock handling
The clock management in this driver does not seem to be correct. The
struct hwrng .init callback enables the clock, but there is no matching
.cleanup callback to disable the clock. The clock get disabled as some
later point by runtime PM suspend callback.

Furthermore, both runtime PM and sleep suspend callbacks access registers
first and disable clock which are used for register access second. If the
IP is already in RPM suspend and the system enters sleep state, the sleep
callback will attempt to access registers while the register clock are
already disabled. This bug has been fixed once before already in commit
9bae54942b ("hwrng: stm32 - fix pm_suspend issue"), and regressed in
commit ff4e46104f ("hwrng: stm32 - rework power management sequences") .

Fix this slightly differently, disable register clock at the end of .init
callback, this way the IP is disabled after .init. On every access to the
IP, which really is only stm32_rng_read(), do pm_runtime_get_sync() which
is already done in stm32_rng_read() to bring the IP from RPM suspend, and
pm_runtime_mark_last_busy()/pm_runtime_put_sync_autosuspend() to put it
back into RPM suspend.

Change sleep suspend/resume callbacks to enable and disable register clock
around register access, as those cannot use the RPM suspend/resume callbacks
due to slightly different initialization in those sleep callbacks. This way,
the register access should always be performed with clock surely enabled.

a9a7214053 hwrng: mxc-rnga - Drop usage of platform_driver_probe()
There are considerations to drop platform_driver_probe() as a concept
that isn't relevant any more today. It comes with an added complexity
that makes many users hold it wrong. (E.g. this driver should have mark
the driver struct with __refdata.)

Convert the driver to the more usual module_platform_driver().

This fixes a W=1 build warning:

78aafb3884 hwrng: core - Fix page fault dead lock on mmap-ed hwrng
There is a dead-lock in the hwrng device read path.  This triggers
when the user reads from /dev/hwrng into memory also mmap-ed from
/dev/hwrng.  The resulting page fault triggers a recursive read
which then dead-locks.

Fix this by using a stack buffer when calling copy_to_user.

The DT of_device.h and of_platform.h date back to the separate
of_platform_bus_type before it as merged into the regular platform bus.
As part of that merge prepping Arm DT support 13 years ago, they
"temporarily" include each other and pull in various other headers. In
preparation to fix this, adjust the includes for what is actually needed.

of_device.h isn't needed, but of.h is and was implicitly included by it.

28d13f3fdb hwrng: stm32 - restrain RNG noise source clock
For NIST certification the noise source sampling may need to be
restrained.

This change implements an algorithm that gets the rate of the RNG
clock and apply the correct value in CLKDIV field in RNG_CR register
to force the RNG clock rate to be "max_clock_rate" maximum.

As it is platform-specific, implement it as a compat data.

Try to conceal seed errors when possible. If, despite the error
concealing tries, a seed error is still present, then return an error.

A clock error does not compromise the hardware block and data can

The RNG present on STM32MP13x platforms introduces a customizable
configuration and the conditional reset.

STM32 RNG configuration should best fit the requirements of the
platform. Therefore, put a platform-specific RNG configuration
field in the platform data. Default RNG configuration for STM32MP13
is the NIST certified configuration [1].

While there, fix and the RNG init sequence to support all RNG
versions.

Set a more reasonable timeout for calculating the initial seed.

The reference manuals says that "The initial seed takes approximately
2,000,000 clock cycles." The rngc peripheral clock runs at >= 33.25MHz,
so seeding takes at most 60ms.

A timeout of 200ms is more appropriate than the current value of 3
seconds.

464bd8ec2f hwrng: geode - fix accessing registers
When the membase and pci_dev pointer were moved to a new struct in priv,
the actual membase users were left untouched, and they started reading
out arbitrary memory behind the struct instead of registers. This
unfortunately turned the RNG into a constant number generator, depending
on the content of what was at that offset.

To fix this, update geode_rng_data_{read,present}() to also get the
membase via amd_geode_priv, and properly read from the right addresses
again.

b58a36008b hwrng: bcm2835 - Fix hwrng throughput regression
The last RCU stall fix caused a massive throughput regression of the
hwrng on Raspberry Pi 0 - 3. hwrng_msleep doesn't sleep precisely enough
and usleep_range doesn't allow scheduling. So try to restore the
best possible throughput by introducing hwrng_yield which interruptable
sleeps for one jiffy.

Some performance measurements on Raspberry Pi 3B+ (arm64/defconfig):

sudo dd if=/dev/hwrng of=/dev/null count=1 bs=10000

cpu_relax              ~138025 Bytes / sec
hwrng_msleep(1000)         ~13 Bytes / sec
hwrng_yield              ~2510 Bytes / sec

cf8e865810 arch: Remove Itanium (IA-64) architecture
The Itanium architecture is obsolete, and an informal survey [0] reveals
that any residual use of Itanium hardware in production is mostly HP-UX
or OpenVMS based. The use of Linux on Itanium appears to be limited to
enthusiasts that occasionally boot a fresh Linux kernel to see whether
things are still working as intended, and perhaps to churn out some
distro packages that are rarely used in practice.

None of the original companies behind Itanium still produce or support
any hardware or software for the architecture, and it is listed as
'Orphaned' in the MAINTAINERS file, as apparently, none of the engineers
that contributed on behalf of those companies (nor anyone else, for that
matter) have been willing to support or maintain the architecture
upstream or even be responsible for applying the odd fix. The Intel
firmware team removed all IA-64 support from the Tianocore/EDK2
reference implementation of EFI in 2018. (Itanium is the original
architecture for which EFI was developed, and the way Linux supports it
deviates significantly from other architectures.) Some distros, such as
Debian and Gentoo, still maintain [unofficial] ia64 ports, but many have
dropped support years ago.

While the argument is being made [1] that there is a 'for the common
good' angle to being able to build and run existing projects such as the
Grid Community Toolkit [2] on Itanium for interoperability testing, the
fact remains that none of those projects are known to be deployed on
Linux/ia64, and very few people actually have access to such a system in
the first place. Even if there were ways imaginable in which Linux/ia64
could be put to good use today, what matters is whether anyone is
actually doing that, and this does not appear to be the case.

There are no emulators widely available, and so boot testing Itanium is
generally infeasible for ordinary contributors. GCC still supports IA-64
but its compile farm [3] no longer has any IA-64 machines. GLIBC would
like to get rid of IA-64 [4] too because it would permit some overdue
code cleanups. In summary, the benefits to the ecosystem of having IA-64
be part of it are mostly theoretical, whereas the maintenance overhead
of keeping it supported is real.

So let's rip off the band aid, and remove the IA-64 arch code entirely.
This follows the timeline proposed by the Debian/ia64 maintainer [5],
which removes support in a controlled manner, leaving IA-64 in a known
good state in the most recent LTS release. Other projects will follow
once the kernel support is removed.

8e03dd62e5 hwrng: iproc-rng200 - Implement suspend and resume calls
Chips such as BCM7278 support system wide suspend/resume which will
cause the HWRNG block to lose its state and reset to its power on reset
register values. We need to cleanup and re-initialize the HWRNG for it
to be functional coming out of a system suspend cycle.

0788257aee hwrng: Explicitly include correct DT includes
The DT of_device.h and of_platform.h date back to the separate
of_platform_bus_type before it was merged into the regular platform bus.
As part of that merge prepping Arm DT support 13 years ago, they
"temporarily" include each other. They also include platform_device.h
and of.h. As a result, there's a pretty much random mix of those include
files used throughout the tree. In order to detangle these headers and
replace the implicit includes with struct declarations, users need to
explicitly include the correct includes.

71839a6410 hwrng: ingenic - don't disable the rng in ingenic_trng_remove
There's no need to disable the rng in ingenic_trng_remove.

The driver's init function sets the CFG_GEN_EN bit to enable the
rng. The cleanup function clears CFG_GEN_EN to revert this.

The remove function calls hwrng_unregister. If the ingenic-trng is not
the current rng at this point, CFG_GEN_EN has already been cleared. If
the ingenic-trng is the current rng, drop_current_rng will call the
cleanup function.
