ACPI: NUMA: Only parse CFMWS at boot when CXL_ACPI is on
On CXL platforms, the Static Resource Affinity Table (SRAT) may not
cover memory affinity information for all the CXL memory regions. Since
each CXL memory region is enumerated via a CXL Fixed Memory Window
Structure (CFMWS), during early boot the kernel parses the CFMWS tables
to find all CXL memory regions and sets a NUMA node for each of them.
This memory affinity information of CXL memory regions is later used by
the CXL ACPI driver.
The CFMWS table doesn't provide the memory affinity information either.
Currently the kernel assigns a 'faked' NUMA node for each CXL memory
region, starting from the next node of the highest node that is
enumerated via the SRAT. This can potentially increase the maximum NUMA
node ID of the platform ('nr_node_ids') a lot. E.g., on a GNR platform
with 4 NUMA nodes and 18 CFMWS tables, this bumps the 'nr_node_ids' to
22.
Increasing the 'nr_node_ids' has side effects. For instance, it is
widely used by the kernel for "highest possible NUMA node" based memory
allocations. It also impacts userspace ABIs, e.g., some NUMA memory
related system calls such as 'get_mempolicy' which requires 'maxnode'
not being smaller than the 'nr_node_ids'.
Currently parsing CFMWS tables and assigning faked NUMA node at boot is
done unconditionally. However, if the CXL ACPI driver is not enabled,
there will be no user of such memory affinity information of CXL memory
regions.
Change to only parsing the CFMWS tables at boot when CXL_ACPI is enabled
in Kconfig to avoid the unnecessary cost of bumping up 'nr_node_ids'.
E.g., on the aforementioned GNR platform, the "Slab" in /proc/meminfo is
reduced with this change (when CXL_ACPI is off):

Convert 'alloc_obj' family to use the new default GFP_KERNEL argument
This was done entirely with mindless brute force, using
git grep -l '\<k[vmz]*alloc_objs*(.*, GFP_KERNEL)' |
xargs sed -i 's/\(alloc_objs*(.*\), GFP_KERNEL)/\1)/'
to convert the new alloc_obj() users that had a simple GFP_KERNEL
argument to just drop that argument.
Note that due to the extreme simplicity of the scripting, any slightly
more complex cases spread over multiple lines would not be triggered:
they definitely exist, but this covers the vast bulk of the cases, and
the resulting diff is also then easier to check automatically.
For the same reason the 'flex' versions will be done as a separate
conversion.

hmem devices that it does not need to.

cxl, acpi/hmat: Update CXL access coordinates directly instead of through HMAT
The current implementation of CXL memory hotplug notifier gets called
before the HMAT memory hotplug notifier. The CXL driver calculates the
access coordinates (bandwidth and latency values) for the CXL end to
end path (i.e. CPU to endpoint). When the CXL region is onlined, the CXL
memory hotplug notifier writes the access coordinates to the HMAT target
structs. Then the HMAT memory hotplug notifier is called and it creates
the access coordinates for the node sysfs attributes.
During testing on an Intel platform, it was found that although the
newly calculated coordinates were pushed to sysfs, the sysfs attributes for
the access coordinates showed up with the wrong initiator. The system has
4 nodes (0, 1, 2, 3) where node 0 and 1 are CPU nodes and node 2 and 3 are
CXL nodes. The expectation is that node 2 would show up as a target to node
0:
/sys/devices/system/node/node2/access0/initiators/node0
However it was observed that node 2 showed up as a target under node 1:
/sys/devices/system/node/node2/access0/initiators/node1
The original intent of the 'ext_updated' flag in HMAT handling code was to
stop HMAT memory hotplug callback from clobbering the access coordinates
after CXL has injected its calculated coordinates and replaced the generic
target access coordinates provided by the HMAT table in the HMAT target
structs. However the flag is hacky at best and blocks the updates from
other CXL regions that are onlined in the same node later on. Remove the
'ext_updated' flag usage and just update the access coordinates for the
nodes directly without touching HMAT target data.
The hotplug memory callback ordering is changed. Instead of changing CXL,
move HMAT back so there's room for the levels rather than have CXL share
the same level as SLAB_CALLBACK_PRI. The change will resulting in the CXL
callback to be executed after the HMAT callback.
With the change, the CXL hotplug memory notifier runs after the HMAT
callback. The HMAT callback will create the node sysfs attributes for
access coordinates. The CXL callback will write the access coordinates to
the now created node sysfs attributes directly and will not pollute the
HMAT target values.
A nodemask is introduced to keep track if a node has been updated and
prevents further updates.

acpi_parse_cfmws() currently adds empty CFMWS ranges to numa_meminfo with the expectation that numa_cleanup_meminfo moves them to numa_reserved_meminfo. There is no need for that indirection when it is known in advance that these unpopulated ranges are meant for numa_reserved_meminfo in support of future hotplug / CXL provisioning. acpi/hmat / cxl: Add extended linear cache support for CXL
The current cxl region size only indicates the size of the CXL memory region without accounting for the extended linear cache size. Retrieve the cache size from HMAT and append that to the cxl region size for the cxl region range that matches the SRAT range that has extended linear cache enabled. The SRAT defines the whole memory range that includes the extended linear cache and the CXL memory region. The new HMAT ECN/ECR to the Memory Side Cache Information Structure defines the size of the extended linear cache size and matches to the SRAT Memory Affinity Structure by the memory proxmity domain. Add a helper to match the cxl range to the SRAT memory range in order to retrieve the cache size. There are several places that checks the cxl region range against the decoder range. Use new helper to check between the two ranges and address the new cache size. mm/fake-numa: allow later numa node hotplug
Current fake-numa implementation prevents new Numa nodes to be later hot-plugged by drivers. A common symptom of this limitation is the "node <X> was absent from the node_possible_map" message by associated warning in mm/memory_hotplug.c: add_memory_resource(). This comes from the lack of remapping in both pxm_to_node_map[] and node_to_pxm_map[] tables to take fake-numa nodes into account and thus triggers collisions with original and physical nodes only-mapping that had been determined from BIOS tables. This patch fixes this by doing the necessary node-ids translation in both pxm_to_node_map[]/node_to_pxm_map[] tables. node_distance[] table has also been fixed accordingly. Details: When trying to use fake-numa feature on our system where new Numa nodes are being "hot-plugged" upon driver load, this fails with the following type of message and warning with stack : node 8 was absent from the node_possible_map WARNING: CPU: 61 PID: 4259 at mm/memory_hotplug.c:1506 add_memory_resource+0x3dc/0x418 This issue prevents the use of the fake-NUMA debug feature with the system's full configuration, when it has proven to be sometimes extremely useful for performance testing of multi-tasked, memory-bound applications, as it enables better isolation of processes/ranks compared to fat NUMA nodes. ACPI/HMAT: Move HMAT messages to pr_debug()
The HMAT messages printed at boot, beyond being noisy, can also print details for nodes that are not yet enabled. The primary method to consume HMAT details is via sysfs, and the sysfs interface gates what is emitted by whether the node is online or not. Hide the messages by default by moving them from "info" to "debug" log level. Otherwise, these prints are just a pretty-print way to dump the ACPI HMAT table. It has always been the case that post-analysis was required for these messages to map proximity-domains to Linux NUMA nodes, and as Priya points out that analysis also needs to consider whether the proximity domain is marked "enabled" in the SRAT. the recently approved ACPI ECR[1].
Patch 1/4 add RISC-V specific acpi_numa.c file to parse NUMA information
from SRAT and SLIT ACPI tables.
Patch 2/4 add the common SRAT RINTC affinity structure handler.
Patch 3/4 change the ACPI_NUMA to a hidden option since it would be selected
by default on all supported platform.
Patch 4/4 replace pr_info with pr_debug in arch_acpi_numa_init() to avoid
potential boot noise on ACPI platforms that are not NUMA.

memory tier: consolidate the initialization of memory tiers
The current memory tier initialization process is distributed across two different functions, memory_tier_init() and memory_tier_late_init(). This design is hard to maintain. Thus, this patch is proposed to reduce the possible code paths by consolidating different initialization patches into one. Because only at that time, the HMAT information will be ready, adist between nodes can be calculated, and memory tiering can be established based on the adist. So we position the initialization at memory_tier_init() to the memory_tier_late_init() call. Moreover, it's natural to keep memory_tier initialization in drivers at device_initcall() level. If we simply move the set_node_memory_tier() from memory_tier_init() to late_initcall(), it will result in HMAT not registering the mt_adistance_algorithm callback function, because set_node_memory_tier() is not performed during the memory tiering initialization phase, leading to a lack of correct default_dram information. Therefore, we introduced a nodemask to pass the information of the default DRAM nodes. The reason for not choosing to reuse default_dram_type->nodes is that it is not clean enough. So in the end, we use a __initdata variable, which is a variable that is released once initialization is complete, including both CPU and memory nodes for HMAT to iterate through. x86/numa: Fix SRAT lookup of CFMWS ranges with numa_fill_memblks()
For configurations that have the kconfig option NUMA_KEEP_MEMINFO
disabled, numa_fill_memblks() only returns with NUMA_NO_MEMBLK (-1).
SRAT lookup fails then because an existing SRAT memory range cannot be
found for a CFMWS address range. This causes the addition of a
duplicate numa_memblk with a different node id and a subsequent page
fault and kernel crash during boot.
Fix this by making numa_fill_memblks() always available regardless of
NUMA_KEEP_MEMINFO.
As Dan suggested, the fix is implemented to remove numa_fill_memblks()
from sparsemem.h and alos using __weak for the function.
Note that the issue was initially introduced with [1]. But since
phys_to_target_node() was originally used that returned the valid node
0, an additional numa_memblk was not added. Though, the node id was
wrong too, a message is seen then in the logs:

cxl/region: Deal with numa nodes not enumerated by SRAT
For the numa nodes that are not created by SRAT, no memory_target is allocated and is not managed by the HMAT_REPORTING code. Therefore hmat_callback() memory hotplug notifier will exit early on those NUMA nodes. The CXL memory hotplug notifier will need to call node_set_perf_attrs() directly in order to setup the access sysfs attributes. In acpi_numa_init(), the last proximity domain (pxm) id created by SRAT is stored. Add a helper function acpi_node_backed_by_real_pxm() in order to check if a NUMA node id is defined by SRAT or created by CFMWS. node_set_perf_attrs() symbol is exported to allow update of perf attribs for a node. The sysfs path of /sys/devices/system/node/nodeX/access0/initiators/* is created by node_set_perf_attrs() for the various attributes where nodeX is matched to the NUMA node of the CXL region. cxl/region: Add memory hotplug notifier for cxl region
When the CXL region is formed, the driver computes the performance data for the region. However this data is not available at the node data collection that has been populated by the HMAT during kernel initialization. Add a memory hotplug notifier to update the access coordinates to the 'struct memory_target' context kept by the HMAT_REPORTING code. Add CXL_CALLBACK_PRI for a memory hotplug callback priority. Set the priority number to be called before HMAT_CALLBACK_PRI. The CXL update must happen before hmat_callback(). A new HMAT_REPORTING helper hmat_update_target_coordinates() is added in order to allow CXL to update the memory_target access coordinates. A new ext_updated member is added to the memory_target to indicate that the access coordinates within the memory_target has been updated by an external agent such as CXL. For generic targets, there's no reason to call
register_memory_node_under_compute_node() with the access levels that are
only visible to HMAT handling code. Only update the attributes and rename
hmat_register_generic_target_initiators() to hmat_update_generic_target().
The original call path ends up triggering register_memory_node_under_compute_node().
Although the access level would be "3" and not impact any current node arrays, it
introduces unwanted data into the numa node access_coordinate array.

Add generic port support for the parsing of HMAT system locality sub-table. The attributes will be added to the third array member of the access coordinates in order to not mix with the existing memory attributes. It only provides the system locality attributes from initiator to the generic port targets and is missing the rest of the data to the actual memory device. The complete attributes will be updated when a memory device is attached and the system locality information is calculated end to end. Dan Williams suggested changing the struct 'node_hmem_attrs' to 'access_coordinates' [1]. The struct is a container of r/w-latency and r/w-bandwidth numbers. Moving forward, this container will also be used by CXL to store the performance characteristics of each link hop in the PCIE/CXL topology. So, where node_hmem_attrs is just the access parameters of a memory-node, access_coordinates applies more broadly to hardware topology characteristics. The observation is that seemed like an exercise in having the application identify "where" it falls on a spectrum of bandwidth and latency needs. For the tuple of read/write-latency and read/write-bandwidth, "coordinates" is not a perfect fit. Sometimes it is just conveying values in isolation and not a "location" relative to other performance points, but in the end this data is used to identify the performance operation point of a given memory-node.
