4bbb6f5940 powerpc: remove ehea driver references
Follow-on cleanup after the removal of the IBM eHEA driver in commit
f721e8ffa92a ("ehea: remove the ehea driver").

Remove the CONFIG_IBM_EHEA entry from ppc64_defconfig and the
EXPORT_SYMBOL_GPL(walk_system_ram_range) export from arch/powerpc/mm/mem.c
that was only needed by the ehea driver.

1967bfaf7b crypto: pcbc - Remove support for PCBC mode
The only user of PCBC mode (Propagating Cipher Block Chaining mode) was
net/rxrpc/rxkad.c, which now uses local code instead.

While PCBC was an interesting cryptographic experiment, it has largely
been relegated to the history books and academic exercises. It is
non-parallelizable (i.e., very slow) and doesn't actually achieve the
integrity properties it was apparently intended to achieve.

Remove support for it from the crypto API.

8c6d03b7a2 crypto: Remove michael_mic from crypto_shash API
Remove the "michael_mic" crypto_shash algorithm, since it's no longer
used. Its only users were wireless drivers, which have now been
converted to use the michael_mic() function instead.

It makes sense that no other users ever appeared: Michael MIC is an
insecure algorithm that is specific to WPA TKIP, which itself was an
interim security solution to replace the broken WEP standard.

aba0138eb7 net: ethernet: neterion: s2io: remove unused driver
The s2io driver supports Exar (formerly Neterion and S2io) PCI-X 10
Gigabit Ethernet cards. Hardware supporting PCI-X has not been
manufactured in years. On x86, it was quickly replaced by PCIe. While
it stuck around longer on POWER hardware, the last POWER hardware to
support it was POWER7, which is not supported by ppc64le Linux
distributions. The last supported mainstream ppc64 Linux distribution
was RHEL 7; while it is still supported under ELS, ELS is only
available for x86 and IBM Z. It is possible to use many PCI-X cards in
standard PCI slots (which are still available on new motherboards), but
it does not make sense to do so for 10 Gigabit Ethernet because the
maximum bandwidth of standard PCI is only 1067 Mbps. It is therefore
highly unlikely that this driver is still being used. Remove the
driver, and move the former maintainer to the CREDITS file (restoring
credit for the vxge driver, which was removed in commit f05643a0f6
("eth: remove neterion/vxge").

d30aca3eef lib/tests: convert test_min_heap module to KUnit
Move lib/test_min_heap.c to lib/tests/min_heap_kunit.c and convert it to
use KUnit.

This change switches the ad-hoc test code to standard KUnit test cases.
The test data remains the same, but the verification logic is updated to
use KUNIT_EXPECT_* macros.

Also remove CONFIG_TEST_MIN_HEAP from arch/*/configs/* because it is no
longer used. The new CONFIG_MIN_HEAP_KUNIT_TEST will be automatically
enabled by CONFIG_KUNIT_ALL_TESTS.

The reasons for converting to KUnit are:

1. Standardization:
    Switching from ad-hoc printk-based reporting to the standard
    KTAP format makes it easier for CI systems to parse and report test
    results

2. Better Diagnostics:
    Using KUNIT_EXPECT_* macros automatically provides detailed
    diagnostics on failure.

3. Tooling Integration:
    It allows the test to be managed and executed using standard
    KUnit tools.

defconfigs") lowered CONFIG_HZ from 250 to 100, citing reduced need for a
higher tick rate due to high-resolution timers and concerns about timer
interrupt overhead and cascading effects in the timer wheel.

However, improvements have been made to the timer wheel algorithm since
then, particularly in eliminating cascading effects at the cost of minor
timekeeping inaccuracies. More details are available here
https://lwn.net/Articles/646950/. This removes the original concern about
cascading, and the reliance on high-resolution timers is not applicable
to the scheduler, which still depends on periodic ticks set by CONFIG_HZ.

With the introduction of the EEVDF scheduler, users can specify custom
slices for workloads. The default base_slice is 3ms, but with CONFIG_HZ=100
(10ms tick interval), base_slice is ineffective. Workloads like stress-ng
that do not voluntarily yield the CPU run for ~10ms before switching out.
Additionally, setting a custom slice below 3ms (e.g., 2ms) should lower
task latency, but this effect is lost due to the coarse 10ms tick.

By increasing CONFIG_HZ to 1000 (1ms tick), base_slice is properly honored,
and user-defined slices work as expected. Benchmark results support this
change:

Latency improvements in schbench with EEVDF under stress-ng-induced noise:

Scheduler CONFIG_HZ Custom Slice 99th Percentile Latency (µs)
--------------------------------------------------------------------
EEVDF           1000       No            0.30x
EEVDF           1000       2 ms          0.29x
EEVDF (default) 100        No            1.00x

Switching to HZ=1000 reduces the 99th percentile latency in schbench by
~70%. This improvement occurs because, with HZ=1000, stress-ng tasks run
for ~3ms before yielding, compared to ~10ms with HZ=100. As a result,
schbench gets CPU time sooner, reducing its latency.

Daytrader Performance:

Daytrader results show minor variation within standard deviation,
indicating no significant regression.

Workload (Users/Instances)  Throughput 1000HZ vs 100HZ (Std Dev%)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
30 u, 1 i                   +3.01% (1.62%)
60 u, 1 i                   +1.46% (2.69%)
90 u, 1 i                   –1.33% (3.09%)
30 u, 2 i                   -1.20% (1.71%)
30 u, 3 i                   –0.07% (1.33%)

Avg. Response Time: No Change (=)

pgbench select queries:

Metric                         1000HZ vs 100HZ (Std Dev%)
------------------------------------------------------------------
Average TPS Change             +2.16% (1.27%)
Average Latency Change         –2.21% (1.21%)

Average TPS: Higher the better
Average Latency: Lower the better

pgbench shows both throughput and latency improvements beyond standard
deviation.

Given these results and the improvements in timer wheel implementation,
increasing CONFIG_HZ to 1000 ensures that powerpc benefits from EEVDF’s
base_slice and allows fine-tuned scheduling for latency-sensitive
workloads.

c7bb5cf9fc xarray: port tests to kunit
Minimally rewrite the XArray unit tests to use kunit. This integrates
nicely with existing kunit tools which produce nicer human-readable output
compared to the existing machinery.

Running the xarray tests before this change requires an obscure
invocation

```
tools/testing/kunit/kunit.py run --arch arm64 --make_options LLVM=1 \
  --kconfig_add CONFIG_TEST_XARRAY=y --raw_output=all nothing
```

which on failure produces

```
BUG at check_reserve:513
...
XArray: 6782340 of 6782364 tests passed
```

and exits 0.

Running the xarray tests after this change requires a simpler invocation

```
tools/testing/kunit/kunit.py run --arch arm64 --make_options LLVM=1 \
  xarray
```

which on failure produces (colors omitted)

```
[09:50:53] ====================== check_reserve  ======================
[09:50:53] [FAILED] param-0
[09:50:53]     # check_reserve: EXPECTATION FAILED at lib/test_xarray.c:536
[09:50:53] xa_erase(xa, 12345678) != NULL
...
[09:50:53] # Totals: pass:28 fail:3 skip:0 total:31
[09:50:53] ===================== [FAILED] xarray ======================
```

and exits 1.

Use of richer kunit assertions is intentionally omitted to reduce the
scope of the change.

62f8f307c8 powerpc/64: Remove maple platform
The maple platform was added in 2004 [1], to support the "Maple" 970FX
evaluation board.

It was later used for IBM JS20/JS21 machines, as well as the Bimini
machine, aka "Yellow Dog Powerstation".

Sadly all those machines have passed into memory, and there's been no
evidence for years that anyone is still using any of them.

Remove the platform and related code. It can always be reinstated if
there's interest.

Note that this has no impact on support for 970FX based Power Macs.

Pull MM updates from Andrew Morton:
 "Along with the usual shower of singleton patches, notable patch series
  in this pull request are:

   - "Align kvrealloc() with krealloc()" from Danilo Krummrich. Adds
     consistency to the APIs and behaviour of these two core allocation
     functions. This also simplifies/enables Rustification.

   - "Some cleanups for shmem" from Baolin Wang. No functional changes -
     mode code reuse, better function naming, logic simplifications.

   - "mm: some small page fault cleanups" from Josef Bacik. No
     functional changes - code cleanups only.

   - "Various memory tiering fixes" from Zi Yan. A small fix and a
     little cleanup.

   - "mm/swap: remove boilerplate" from Yu Zhao. Code cleanups and
     simplifications and .text shrinkage.

   - "Kernel stack usage histogram" from Pasha Tatashin and Shakeel
     Butt. This is a feature, it adds new feilds to /proc/vmstat such as

       $ grep kstack /proc/vmstat
       kstack_1k 3
       kstack_2k 188
       kstack_4k 11391
       kstack_8k 243
       kstack_16k 0

     which tells us that 11391 processes used 4k of stack while none at
     all used 16k. Useful for some system tuning things, but
     partivularly useful for "the dynamic kernel stack project".

   - "kmemleak: support for percpu memory leak detect" from Pavel
     Tikhomirov. Teaches kmemleak to detect leaksage of percpu memory.

   - "mm: memcg: page counters optimizations" from Roman Gushchin. "3
     independent small optimizations of page counters".

   - "mm: split PTE/PMD PT table Kconfig cleanups+clarifications" from
     David Hildenbrand. Improves PTE/PMD splitlock detection, makes
     powerpc/8xx work correctly by design rather than by accident.

   - "mm: remove arch_make_page_accessible()" from David Hildenbrand.
     Some folio conversions which make arch_make_page_accessible()
     unneeded.

   - "mm, memcg: cg2 memory{.swap,}.peak write handlers" fro David
     Finkel. Cleans up and fixes our handling of the resetting of the
     cgroup/process peak-memory-use detector.

   - "Make core VMA operations internal and testable" from Lorenzo
     Stoakes. Rationalizaion and encapsulation of the VMA manipulation
     APIs. With a view to better enable testing of the VMA functions,
     even from a userspace-only harness.

   - "mm: zswap: fixes for global shrinker" from Takero Funaki. Fix
     issues in the zswap global shrinker, resulting in improved
     performance.

     in some missing info in /proc/zoneinfo.

   - "mm: replace follow_page() by folio_walk" from David Hildenbrand.
     Code cleanups and rationalizations (conversion to folio_walk())
     resulting in the removal of follow_page().

   - "improving dynamic zswap shrinker protection scheme" from Nhat
     Pham. Some tuning to improve zswap's dynamic shrinker. Significant
     reductions in swapin and improvements in performance are shown.

   - "mm: Fix several issues with unaccepted memory" from Kirill
     Shutemov. Improvements to the new unaccepted memory feature,

   - "mm/mprotect: Fix dax puds" from Peter Xu. Implements mprotect on
     DAX PUDs. This was missing, although nobody seems to have notied
     yet.

   - "Introduce a store type enum for the Maple tree" from Sidhartha
     Kumar. Cleanups and modest performance improvements for the maple
     tree library code.

   - "memcg: further decouple v1 code from v2" from Shakeel Butt. Move
     more cgroup v1 remnants away from the v2 memcg code.

   - "memcg: initiate deprecation of v1 features" from Shakeel Butt.
     Adds various warnings telling users that memcg v1 features are
     deprecated.

     Chris Li. Greatly improves the success rate of the mTHP swap
     allocation.

   - "mm: introduce numa_memblks" from Mike Rapoport. Moves various
     disparate per-arch implementations of numa_memblk code into generic
     code.

   - "mm: batch free swaps for zap_pte_range()" from Barry Song. Greatly
     improves the performance of munmap() of swap-filled ptes.

   - "support large folio swap-out and swap-in for shmem" from Baolin
     Wang. With this series we no longer split shmem large folios into
     simgle-page folios when swapping out shmem.

   - "mm/hugetlb: alloc/free gigantic folios" from Yu Zhao. Nice
     performance improvements and code reductions for gigantic folios.

7a2369b74a mm: z3fold: deprecate CONFIG_Z3FOLD
The z3fold compressed pages allocator is rarely used, most users use
zsmalloc. The only disadvantage of zsmalloc in comparison is the
dependency on MMU, and zbud is a more common option for !MMU as it was the
default zswap allocator for a long time.

Historically, zsmalloc had worse latency than zbud and z3fold but offered
better memory savings. This is no longer the case as shown by a simple
recent analysis [1]. That analysis showed that z3fold does not have any
advantage over zsmalloc or zbud considering both performance and memory
usage. In a kernel build test on tmpfs in a limited cgroup, z3fold took
3% more time and used 1.8% more memory. The latency of zswap_load() was
7% higher, and that of zswap_store() was 10% higher. Zsmalloc is better
in all metrics.

Moreover, z3fold apparently has latent bugs, which was made noticeable by
a recent soft lockup bug report with z3fold [2]. Switching to zsmalloc
not only fixed the problem, but also reduced the swap usage from 6~8G to
1~2G. Other users have also reported being bitten by mistakenly enabling
z3fold.

Other than hurting users, z3fold is repeatedly causing wasted engineering
effort. Apart from investigating the above bug, it came up in multiple
development discussions (e.g. [3]) as something we need to handle, when
there aren't any legit users (at least not intentionally).

The natural course of action is to deprecate z3fold, and remove in a few
cycles if no objections are raised from active users. Next on the list
should be zbud, as it offers marginal latency gains at the cost of huge
memory waste when compared to zsmalloc. That one will need to wait until
zsmalloc does not depend on MMU.

Rename the user-visible config option from CONFIG_Z3FOLD to
CONFIG_Z3FOLD_DEPRECATED so that users with CONFIG_Z3FOLD=y get a new
prompt with explanation during make oldconfig. Also, remove
CONFIG_Z3FOLD=y from defconfigs.

1f2190d6b7 arch/*/configs/*defconfig: Replace AUTOFS4_FS by AUTOFS_FS
Commit a2225d931f ("autofs: remove left-over autofs4 stubs")
promised the removal of the fs/autofs/Kconfig fragment for AUTOFS4_FS
within a couple of releases, but five years later this still has not
happened yet, and AUTOFS4_FS is still enabled in 63 defconfigs.

Get rid of it mechanically:

   git grep -l CONFIG_AUTOFS4_FS -- '*defconfig' |
       xargs sed -i 's/AUTOFS4_FS/AUTOFS_FS/'

Also just remove the AUTOFS4_FS config option stub. Anybody who hasn't
regenerated their config file in the last five years will need to just
get the new name right when they do.

3c18a2094f powerpc/configs/64s: Enable DEBUG_VM & other options
Fedora enables DEBUG_VM, which has led to occasions where a VM_BUG_ON()
is not caught by upstream testing, but rather is first found in Fedora,
which is not how it's meant to be.

PAGE_OWNER & PAGE_POISONING both need to be enabled on the kernel
command line, so should not add much overhead in normal operation.
